Review of Chrysos Hotel 3*

We were very pleased to find the hotel was so close to the bus stop from Victoria. The setting is really lovely, beautiful buildings around the square, with a peaceful green garden in it's centre. Chrysos Hotel was bright and cheerful as we approached. The only problem for us was that there was no disabled entrance, but it only had a few steps to the door. Inside, the foyer was spotlessly clean, bright, beautifully decorated and had two extremely comfortable sofas for the newly arrived guests. The receptionist was kind and friendly and we booked in very quickly. We were able to leave our wheelchair downstairs without any problem at all. The lift took us to the fifth floor easily and our room was absolutely lovely. It was clean and bright, with everything we could ask for. The decor was neat and attractive and the windows looked over the houses behind and the lovely sky-line of the area, including the Ferris wheel of the Winter Wonderland event in Hyde Park. The bathroom was absolutely lovely, clean, warm, well stocked with lovely fluffy towels, soap and shower/bath gel. It was a really pleasant surprise to find there was a full-sized bath as well as a shower. The toilet was spotless and the added touch of a seal on the seat declaring it hygienically clean. The water was continuously hot and we enjoyed a bath each, night and morning. It was wonderfully quiet, despite it being New Year's Eve, thanks to the double glazing. I was glad to find I could slide the panels across if I wished to open the window as I normally find double glazing claustrophobic. After a wonderful night at the Thames watching the New Year's Eve fireworks we returned to the hotel which thankfully has a 24 hour desk service. The hotel was clean and quiet and we enjoyed a wonderful night's sleep. The price of £145 for two people on New Year's Eve in London was absolutely amazing value. In the morning we enjoyed a full english breakfast. The dining room was rather sparse and could do with a little more life to it, but everything was spotlessly clean and well run. The service was really lovely. The waitresses were warm and friendly and willing to help at all times. We then had plenty of time to pack our things and leave without feeling pressured. We hope to return again and again to this very pleasing hotel. We found it to be perfect for walking to Marble Arch, Hyde Park, Oxford Street or Kensington. The buses run very frequently and you can be in the centre of the city in ten minutes. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for visitors of all kinds.
