We have 3 stars for Marriott County Hall (unfortunately only). We were very happy to stay here, but the euphoria flowed through the two days.
But first of all the good things about the hotel. The location is really top! Right on the Thames, overlooking the BigBen, you can sleep in the eyeball of the London Eye. A big plus. Also the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The building itself makes a very pompous impression and makes you wonder for the first time.
But unfortunately, a few negative aspects predominate. Wi-Fi is available, but only for a fee… Also the rooms are very cool. On the outer wall it attracts a lot and the double windows hardly isolate. There is also no heating, either in the room itself or in the bathroom. The temperature can only be controlled roughly by the air conditioning system.
Also, there are no heated mirrors in the bathroom, so you have to get ready in the room as the mirror in the bathroom is too foggy.
For scarce €350 per night, I would expect at least a warm floor.
Also the breakfast was more of a disappointment as we are accustomed to other comparable hotels. A cheese platter, a sausage platter, a few trout bites, cereals unloved from tin cans. The choice of bread was okay, with lots of white bread, a bun, some baguette and small sweet pasta. Pasta with beef and Asian meat bags early in the morning. Everything is done a little unlovingly and in small quantities. The view from the breakfast room, directly on the Thames, convinces.
Unfortunately, the staff of the breakfast still makes a sleepy impression… A medium-sized portion of scrambled eggs, which landed on the ground directly in front of the buffet, is not noticeable or ignored, and the very small and tightly arranged tables are rarely cleared.
I think we would not check in at Marriot County Hall again, as we are accustomed to the attention to detail by other hotels, which we miss here for this proud price.
