Disappointed and robbed Review of Rydges Kensington London Pending review My husband and I recently stayed three nights at Rydges Kensington. The staff at reception was exceptionally polite. Our booking was for a standard queen, which was more in keeping to a full size bed, and the room was very tiny. There was barely three feet to maneuver on either side of the bed. The bathroom was adequate though the shower was not very clean. Our coffee maker did not work and the air conditioning was not reliable. Our trip was to several cities in the United Kingdom and, of all the hotels we stayed at, Rydges Kensington offered the least appealing breakfast, However, I am most disappointed to share that clothing was stolen from my suitcase at this hotel I am a former flight attendant and have learned to put valuables, including cosmetics, into the safe, and I did this at Rydges Kensington. In all my travel I have never had clothing stolen from my suitcase but it happened at Rydges Kensington. We arrived Friday evening and I left the tunic I wore on the flight that began our trip neatly folded by my suitcase. When we returned to the room the following day, after a long day out in London, I noticed the tunic wasn’t there. After searching carefully, I told reception that my top was missing. They said they would check with housekeeping and I was told they would be in touch with me. They never contacted me so I had to ask the desk again if they knew where my tunic was. I was told housekeeping didn’t know anything about my missing shirt. I was told, in an excruciatingly polite manner, that it was ‘my word against theirs’. Really? My response was ‘this is dishonest’, which it was. During our stay at Rydges Kensington I noticed two more tops were missing but told myself to wait until I got home to make sure I wasnt in error. Well, I am home today and the two more tops are nowhere to be found. Rydges Kensington was the first hotel we stayed at so I know my clothing went missing at this hotel. It is creepy to know someone went clothes shopping in my suitcase in my room at Rydges Kensington. It is disappointing to have to accept that the staff at Rydges Kensington didn’t care. Kensington is a great location and there are other hotels in a similar price range to consider in this area.
