Such friendly helpful staff, so accommodating, nothing too much trouble. It was a brilliant place to take my husband for his 71st birthday. He is in a wheelchair so it’s not easy and he had to shield and be extra careful for two years so this was his first meal out again. Couldn’t have asked for better.

We found this little gem by complete accident, and I'm glad we did because the food was delicious and there was even a dairy free desert option for me, the staff were friendly and the whole place had a relaxing homely feel about it, will definitely go back again when were in the area.

Went to the horse and groom at lunchtime on 4th July 2018 with my wife and her elderly parents, the first thing we noticed was how dark it was inside, maybe to cut down the heat? There were four ladies at one table and two gentlemen at another, the delightful member of staff took our order and served our drinks. The two gentlemen left and my father in law noted one had left his meal uneaten, we then waited a considerable time for our meal, maybe 50 minutes, fresh food does take time to cook! Unfortunately the meals we had were tasteless, my steak was not worth the cost, vegtables undercooked, both parents did not eat their meals, which was unusual. I suggested we complain but my wife's elderly parents did not want to. They had been recommended the horse and groom so left very dissapointed. My wife left a review only days after our visit but this did not show up.

Lovely pub, with a separate house for bandb. Beautifully clean room with 2 toilets and large bathroom. Home from home. Thank you.

I stayed here on my way to AOSB. Good clean place, arrived late and they stayed up to let me in. Nice breakfast in the morning but still not enough to get me to pass.

Called in with our motorhome, had 3 course beautiful meal. Over 50 special on a Wednesday night. Very reasonable price 2, 3 course meals for £20. Plus over night stopover Staff very friendly. Made us feel very welcome Thank you.

Very friendly local pub with lovely food and service. It's has a charming interior, with plenty of room for dinners in and out. There's a dedicated small child play area. And a separate beer garden. Plus what looks like a marquee function room setup. Not to mention plenty of parking. Only visited a couple of times and was impressed. Its set not far from town centre, but you'd never know as it's very peaceful. Almost forgot to mention they're dog friendly, that made Benji the Labrador very happy indeed.

A very family friendly pub that offers entertainment, good food and welcoming staff. Had an evening meal there last night that was delicious. Would definitely recommend it for taste and value for money.

We enjoyed our stay. The room had lovely furniture and comfortable beds for us and the children. Friendly staff at 10pm on arrival and at 8am for breakfast. Recommended.

In response to reviewer Paul Pointer, I think the sign of a good pub is crowded and noisy. If you fancy a meal and a drink in a less atmospheric location, take a basket of food and bottle of plonk up the hill and sit with the white horse, you should find it a most pleasant and peaceful location where you can sit and write pointless reviews alone and in silence. H&G is a wonderful place, with wonderful staff and a wonderful venue. Keep up the good work H&G.

We had our daughters christening here this afternoon (4/2/18) and honestly I have tried to find something to moan about but I cant! The layout was fantastic as was the food and service. Landlord and Landlady popped in a few times to ensure that everything was up to our high standards which it was! Our guests mention on numerous occasion how much they enjoyed the venue and how highly they thought of the place! Great job everybody! Would highly recommend it to everybody and anybody!

Lovely pub and B&b. We had a large comfortable room with nice little extras like bottled water and a coffee machine. The staff were all very friendly. Lots of choice at breakfast and the food was very nice. Would recommend.
