A lovely place with very friendly people and comfortable room with all you need.

Fantastic venue and lovely host. Highly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed a lovely birthday meal from the Schoolhouse. The food was delivered at the time we were told and piping hot. All meals (duck, venison, salmon and beef rendang) were really tasty and very good portion size. Would highly recommend.

Our recent Valentine’s Day delivery was delivered on time and still hot. Good portion sizes and tasted great. Highly recommended!

Just had a wonderful three course meal delivered for my birthday — from The School House Hook what a wonderful friendly service and Food — so much so we both had the starter (Black pudding apple and cheese) but the main (Bacon wrapped Faggotts red cabbage peas and mash) and dessert (apples in batter and cinnamon with apricot sauce) — 1 portion was enough for two so great we have some more for tomorrow now.

Love it there. Lunch is fabulous.

Had to leave a star. Not nice. Managers are rude and rooms have no space for disabled people.

Best friends golden wedding bash. Brilliant food and service. Interesting beers and ales available. Great venue for a dinner party.

Nice if constrained menu. Setting is unique and has real charm. Owners dog is a delight to engage with. Food was very good. Lots of parking available. Cosy bar is great for pre dinner drinks in front of the fire. We will be back!

Friendly people. Good beds. If you are looking for a premier inn, then this place is not for you. It is run by a couple who is caring and the food might be pricey but it is of gooooood quality.

Kind of old hotel, unfortunately in my last night over there I had no heating.

A beautiful building. Good value for money. The restaurant is a bit pricy but of very good quality. Breakfast time starts late and finishes early.

We booked a room at 9.35pm in this hotel for a member of staff who had been out on the road since 6am in the morning and needed somwhere to stay. Our employee rang them to say he was running a little late and would be there at approx 10.05pm, they said he couldnt come as they close at 10pm. Our employee had to then drive 2.5 hours home, and they have point blank refused to refund the money as they say our booking prevented them selling the room to someone else, which is ridiculous as we only booked it 25 minutes before they turned our poor chap away. They were quite happy to take the booking and our money knowing they were about to close for the evening. They are also extremely rude on the phone when we asked for our money back. Beyond disgusted at the appalling attitude of this hotel!

Incredible building, welcoming hosts (humans and Fred the dog), good breakfast and in a quiet location conveniently close to the highway.

For two adults and a young child this was fine. We were greeted just before 10pm and met the dog who was very friendly. Would've been nice to get a drink but bed time for a family anyway. It's a good building and far enough from the M4 not to be noisy. Room could've done with a little more colour; drinks, swankier bathroom, mini bar? Breakfast was superb though!

We dined at the school house recently for the happy hour dinner. We asked for slimline tonic and were told they don't stock it. We asked for a glass of red wine and were told they only sell individual bottles of wine although we bought a bottle of wine with our meal but they don't let you have a glass of wine for pre dinner drinks. We then ordered dinner and requested tap water to drink with the wine during dinner and were told they don't supply tap water. It seems to me that although dropping the price of the food they are trying to get money out of us in other ways, like having to buy bottled water and full bottles of wine. I have looked on the internet regarding refusing us tap water and it appears that they are breaking the law as it states that if you serve alcohol you must offer tap water if asked. We will not be returning to the school house.
