Gastropub food (and prices) but good food, and friendly service. Lovely surroundings and excellent garden. The coffee shop in the same complex is excellent with home cooked pastries and light meals from the pub/hotel kitchen. Opens onto a lovely courtyard garden to sit out in fine weather. The whole complex is an unexpected and comforting refuge in this quite remote village.

Beautiful garden and outdoor seating. Food was good and staff were helpful. Only negative was that it took a long time to get served initially.

Fantastic place to chillin' out and relax hosted in a very pleasant hotel! Loved to discover and walk in the forest and canals. I will be back!

Delightful gastropub with high quality B&B accommodation. Stayed only one night, but the evening meal s excellent, with a good wine list on offer. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Appears to be a good place for country walks, but unfortunately the British weather meant it wasn't an option this time. According to the info you can also do baking and cooking classes here. The bread is certainly made in sure and was excellent. It may not be the cheapest for a pub B&B but is very good quality and is at least as good as most London hotels at this price.

It was a lovely venue for a Christmas party. The food was good and the staff were friendly. Very pleasant atmosphere and excellent real fire.

Regular visitor to the area for work, stay at the Crown & Garter every time for the really tasty food, rather nice rooms and welcoming staff. Try it!

Really lovely atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings. Family absolutely love their meals but vegetarian option was a bit disappointing. Overall would definitely go again and recommend others do too.

We had our office Christmas lunch at the Crown & Garter. Email communication was very good and organising the event very easy. Lunch was reasonably priced and the food was very good. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. We had a lovely time, thank you.

Very nice but the outside noise was heard in the room.

Just popped by for lunch with my mum, had the roast beef and horseradish roll, whilst she had the same but as a sandwich. Firstly, the sandwich was actually 3 sandwiches whilst the roll was one very small roll. Neither of us could eat it due to the huge amount of horseradish, even after attempting to scrape it off. The manager offered to bring us new ones but we chose other items on the menu which turned out to be very nice. The first sandwiches were taken off our bill and overall, we left having had one nice sandwich each. The customer service was magnificent and the food was very good second time round! Would recommend but maybe not the roast beef sandwich.

Bearing in mind this is a 4 star hotel… Pleasant enough but with a few quirks. Car park only accessible via rough track. Woken at 6am with load shouts of "'Ello my loverlies" from delivery driver. No water in room. Entire desk taken up by huge wooden container apparently there to house 2 mugs and a kettle. Food excellent quality. Breakfast also good, but allow plenty of time; having arrived at 7.30, left at 8.20. Would describe as leisurely.

Amazing food, very fresh, service impeccable, great setting and we stayed. The rooms are superb. Thanks to everyone at the Crown and Garter for a great experience all round!

Great value lunch — very nice place.

Location and setting was perfect, however, it was death quiet on a Tuesdsy lunchtime, besides ourselves there was two other couples eating! You could hear a pin drop literally… we ordered then just stood there waiting to be taken to our table not knowing the process… two staff members were hanging around next to our table making us feel v uncomfortable an desperately looking for something to do. Food was very average and they were clearly trying to be something they were not. Shame. We will not be returning.
