Had a lovely visit yesterday, beautiful place and very clean, and lovely staff and we had a great afternoon tea, can’t wait to book again.

We had the most wonderful relaxing weekend at Lifehouse spa. The spa facilities were very good and the spa was not overcrowded. There was always space in the sauna and steam as well as the pools. The relaxation room was very relaxing. The treatments were blissful and the staff friendly and welcoming. Towels were provided as well as robes and slippers. There are products in the changing rooms as well as hairdryers and straighteners. You didn’t need a thing! Dinner was delicious I had a three course meal. As a vegetarian I usually worry about the options, but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every course. There was a brilliant drink option and comfortable bar area. Lots of breakfast options also! Overall I am delighted with our stay and hope to return again! I feel the staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Thank you 😊

Staff are fantastic nothing is too much trouble. It was refreshing to see all the young staff were extremely hard working and are keen to make your experience the very best. Special thanks to Alison (beauty therapist) for my amazing facial. And a big thank you to the young man who looked after me in the spa area after I suffered a nose bleed (sorry I can’t remember your name).

My friend and I had a spa break with your hotel and it was amazing! Food was absolutely stunning and the service throughout the hotel was second to none! Spa facilities were also great and the outside land was beautiful to have a walk. I will definitely be back!

An amazing spa! Very clean and couldn’t fault the service from all the staff. Had a 25 mins facial and Estelle was very professional and gave excellent advise. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

I recommend but with caveats. Overall a lovely stay — Beautiful grounds (make sure you walk round them and see the lake very picturesque) and location, excellent food and service, (majority of staff were exceptionally smiley and helpful) rooms very clean and modern with very comfortable beds and lovely bed linen and pillows. Treatments very good but book well in advance of your stay as they get fully booked. Major downside was the pool and sauna/steam room area itself. Very small for the number of guests (not enough beds for everyone) therefore it was very crowded and noisy and in need of some tlc. No calming atmosphere nothing attractive about it — more like a public swimming pool. Water in pool and jacuzzi not that warm. Treatment rooms chilly too. Very disappointing in these aspects as it advertises as a spa hotel not a hotel with spa. There was mould on the walls in places, a bollard in the swimming pool where there was obviously a broken vent, and holes in the wall where dressing gown hooks should be — out of keeping with the rest of the place. I would go again but only if they doubled the size of the pool area etc.

Lovely evening chilling by the pool with a glass of fizz, thought they were a little tight on the amount poured into the glass but it was a freebie so can't complain. Staff were very informative.

It’s the first time in over two years they wasn’t one thing out of place Clean room clean corridors clean spa clean bathroom. Nice relaxing spa and swimming pool. Absolute beautiful rooms Great food. Lovely restaurant and bar. Me and the wife absolutely loved it we travel all over Essex and Suffolk for spar weekend, this is the best place and we will visit again. Can you say a big thank you to all the staff I feel nice and relaxed ready for work next week.

We were here for a over night stay with friends for a Christmas present from both partners. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our meal was lovely the the staff were very helpful We had the chateaubriand which was well cooked and tasty. Good variety of alcoholic drinks and wine reasonably priced. The spa was clean however was overcrowded, there were not half enough beds or seats for the ratio of spa bookings taken also making the pool area very noisy and not the tranquil environment you would expect from a spa day. The treatment prices are very high with most being around the £80/90 which I personally feel are very high so we unfortunately didn't book these. This is our 2nd stay at lifehouse and although staff and room were all lovely, I am unsure if we will return as didnt find it overly relaxing and this was the purpose of our stay.

The whole ambiance was very tranquil and relaxing. The staff were so polite, friendly and helpful.

Had a wonderful stay here. Room and restaurant were fantastic. Food great. Staff very friendly. Only downside spa needs overhaul. Very tired looking. The massage we had was amazing and stacey the therapist was excellent!

Absolutely amazing loved every second! The staff were wonderful, food delicious. Very welcoming and the spa was beautiful.

Went with a friend after lockdown 1. They had lots of sanitiser stations, masks in use & bookings for the sauna/steam room to ensure social distancing. Did feel odd with up to 6 strangers in the hot tub with no masks on as felt a bit too close for comfort but this would be my only complaint.

I had my membership cancelled just after last lockdown. They kept posting how excited they were to be welcoming guests back and posting pics of people using the facilities but members were still not being welcomed back. There hadn't been much communication with members so of course members started asking questions. Social media responses were bog standard that someone would be in touch soon but in the meantime we had to see the pics of others enjoying the facilities and the regular posts about how exciting it was. I eventually got a phone call to say management had requested my membership be cancelled because I kept asking on social media posts when members would be welcomed back. I didnt post anything bad just asked when we could come back and said I had found somewhere temporary that was more than happy to welcome members. All I had looked forward to through lockdown was getting back to lifehouse. So because I dared to ask when members would be welcomed back I was kicked out. I had been a member for years and always stuck up for them when people moaned about rooms or poor facilities which maybe I shouldn't have done as honest reviews are really helpful.

Lovely setting and atmosphere. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and we couldn’t fault the the facilities.

Popped in for a drink and to charge our car. Friendly staff, very nice building and facilities. I stood outside and took a 20 minute work call and during that time saw a member of staff disinfect all the door handles in a hall twice, clearly taking good care during these times.

Had a very lovely weekend relaxing in the spa. I had a super treatment with Alba. The buffet lunch was lovely and the evening meal delicious, Lewis looked after our table fabulously. The hotel is great and set in beautiful grounds. I couldn’t have been more happy with the whole experience. Thank you.

Spend an overnight stay here with a 25 minutes treatment and 3 course meal and breakfast. 5* for the fabulous food, dinner and breakfast. Lovely clean large room with a patio area, which we paid extra for. Beautiful gardens that we took a very long walk around after breakfast the next morning. Lovely Friendly staff! The only thing I can fault here was that our treatment was at 4 and dinner at 6.45, which by the time we unpacked we had to rush We did try to change dinner time but it was already booked. Next time we well check this to book later times. It would also been helpful to either tell your guests the classes that are going on or put a time table in your arrival pack so we could have planned our days to get the most from the fantastic facilities you have to offer. Thank you for a lovely time.

Absolutely beautiful gardens and nice, modern spacious rooms — worth a visit for these alone. I would definitely try and find a Secret Escapes deal though. We really enjoyed our stay but in our opinion there are few areas where improvements are required to make the place even better: 1) the food we had at lunchtime was just appalling — £10 for half a soggy sub-Iceland quality pizza. We would have complained but the staff seemed to have absconded and no one even came to clear it up. 2) The awful lounge muzak piped all around is horrible, repetitive and really jarring after a while. 3) Room cleaning and reception staff were very friendly (especially the lovely guy who removed a spider for us) but the rest are a bit disinterested don't exactly go out of their way to be helpful.

Lovely relaxing day. Massage was excellent. Delicious lunch. Great facilities. Would have given 5 stars if reception staff were more efficient. They made a bit of a mess of our treatment bookings and weren’t at all accommodating considering it was their error. Quite abrupt, but we decided not to let that spoil our day and otherwise thoroughly enjoyed it.

A really lovely relaxing day. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil. I sat for a while just watching a squirrel watching me. The treatments are luxurious. The lunch was very nice too. The whole day was everything I hoped it would be. I will definitely go again.

Had a lovely stay at Lifehouse Spa, the food was delicious, service was slick and the grounds were amazing. We had a great room, with doors opening onto landscaped gardens with a lake. The facilities were also very good, the gym was well maintained and the pool had a very nice steam room, sauna and hot salts room, as well as Jacuzzi and plunge pool. My massage treatment was also very relaxing and the lady was very friendly and knowledgeable. The best thing about Lifehouse though are the grounds, they make for a beautiful walk and a little picnic by one of the many lakes is a great afternoon, then pop back Inside for a quick swim and a treatment, followed up with a great nights sleep and hearty breakfast. It's clear to see why this venue is doing very well.

Went there for a mid-week spa deal which included: one night, afternoon tea, breakfast, and one 40 mins treatment. The grounds a beautiful to walk around and have various trails you can follow. The room was lovely, spacious and clean with a nice view. The spa itself is small but nice. The food was lovely, we opted to buy dinner at the restaurant too and that was lovely. The real jewel in Lifehouse crown are the treatments and the staff. We both purchased additions treatments are were incredibly happy with the value for money. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Overall I am very pleased.

The Spa and Hotel are both very good. We had a spa package called Hidden Sanctuary which was well worth the money in our eyes. The spa itself, we were able to use due to staying at the hotel, was exactly what we wanted from the day. The facilities are extensive. The atmosphere was very relaxed. The hotel room was good. Nothing special but did the job. The restaurant similarly was good but nothing amazing, though they do accept taste card so made the bill a bit nicer.

Treatments were very good, we had the romantic couple package which included the salt scrub, massage and facial. The food was dissapointing and more 3 star hotel than health spa. I have been to better spas and with a wider range of facilities and a more comprehensive health menu.

Great Night! We booked using a virgin experience voucher, which gave us access to several facilities, as well as a nights stay and breakfast. The facilities available included steam rooms and pools, all of which we enjoyed using. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was both delicious and reasonably priced, however drink prices were an utter joke. Breakfast was great, a decent selection. Everywhere was clean and tidy and staff were friendly.

What an amazing day we spent at the Spa, so relaxing with friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. My husband and I needed to recharge the batteries and a day of relaxation, a delicious lunch then the fabulous Treatment for Couples in the Hidden Sanctuary was just what was needed. A totally private 3 hours of treatments, a full body exfoliation, a private relaxation pool and a full body massage were just what we needed. Lovely touches like green tea and fruit served whilst relaxing in the pool were just perfect.

It was a lovely relaxing stay from start to finish, for adults only. Room was spacious, clean with a very peaceful outlook. Service was good, although more hands on reception are needed. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there are a few things that could be improved upon (in the swimming area too many sunbeds pushed into such a small area / there were no changing facilities around the pool area which made it very difficult when wanted to dry off and change before my massage / didn't have enough seats in the bar area / the beauty shops could have had more staff as didn't get to buy what I wanted as there were no staff to advice me on the products).

A bit crowded. Not very relaxing when you have to queue for Jacuzzi and loungers. (this was on a Monday). I asked for a dry robe but was told it would take an hour. In the meantime I sat in a cold wet robe. Treatment was nice. Restaurant seemed to be under staffed. Took ages to get a cup of tea and had to ask a few times for a jug of water. Then waited an age for the salad to get replenished. Same on main course. Shame. Would not go back.

One of the best spa's I've ever been too. Fantastic staff, awesome facilities and excellent service. Recommend all day long!

Not a place to relax. En route to the spa the locals display protest signs about Lifehouse spa developments which didn’t give a great feeling to start with. My partner booked flowers as a surprise for me to be in the room on arrival however they weren’t there given they were very pricey, he wasn’t happy. It was also my partners birthday however a birthday card was addressed to me even though he had said it was his birthday. At dinner my fork was dirty and used with big chunks of rice on the back luckily I had seen before using it to eat with but it definitely put us off our meals. After starters and mains we then had to wait 40 minutes for desert just for a few scoops of ice cream when the deserts came they still didn’t know whose birthday it was, so just wrote happy birthday on both which takes away the affect of it. In the room there are stained chairs and the TV doesn’t work. All in all even if everything had been perfect it’s still overpriced the only good thing is the treatments by they are still overpriced for what they are. Not what you expect for paying over £600 just for a nights stay.

This is not my first time at this hotel/spa and I always enjoy my stay there. Unlike other hotel/spa that I have visited, this one is the most quiet and relaxing spa. Only reason for 4 stars is the hotel and spa prices which are a bit too high and that you really need to book in advance to have a treatment done. Other than that I highly recommend this place and will be returning again and hopefully with better price deals in place!

Spacious spa, quiet and peaceful. The grounds are amazing and has alot of history. We stayed the night and used all the facilities. Lots of things to do. The food at the restaurant is great and would love to go again. The staff make you feel very welcome and I would recommend it to anyone as a break for them or another. I would love to go again!

We stayed here on the two night spa packages. The facilities and treatments were great. We both thoroughly enjoyed walking around in our dressing robes all day, getting changed only for dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only slight negative was that the rooms can get quite stuffy so I'd be weary of visiting in the warmer months of the year. Otherwise, a really relaxing break and we'd definitely come back again.

Breakfast was great. Room was lovely. Was mortified with the way I was treated at dinner regarding the virgin experience voucher I was using and a staff mix up. I Was kicked out of steam room for maintenance in the middle of the day. The Sauna did not close so was not hot and the steam room door barely opened before catching on the floor and sticking creating a very loud sound which made everyone jump. The hot tub head rest was broken as well as the tiles. Went back to the spa in the evening where I then had cleaning products splashed on me while staff were cleaning the walls even though there were still 2 hours until it closed. Upon check out I then asked for an email address to make comments and complaints to which I was told I would recieve a feedback email with an email address on it which I could then use, I still have not received this 2 days later! This is not our first stay at lifehouse and decided to return after enjoying it so much the first time. I can honestly say I wish we hadn't bothered as has now ruined the memory.

I stayed one night at Lifehouse, and was extremely satisfied with all aspects of my stay. Firstly the staff were amazing; kind, attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The room was excellent, nice TV, comfy bed, nice hot shower. I was on the ground floor so our room had patio doors with a little table outside and two chairs. Outside of our room were the gardens which were larger than expected; making the perfect scenary for a pleasant, super-relaxing stay. We went for a 45 minute walk on the morning of out stay before breakfast around the lake and through the rock garden. We had a meal and breakfast included in our stay; there was a set limit on the amount of our meal which did not include drinks; this was adequate for is both to have exactly what we wanted so I was very pleased, although we had a bottle of wine for £20 which was added to our room bill. The food was excellent! Cooked to perfection! The waiting staff were very polite and professional and the room was dimly lit and very romantic. The hydrotherapy spa was used a lot during our stay; it's pretty standard and includes quite a large pool, a hot tub, a sauna, steam room and salt inhalation room. There's also a relaxation room on the second floor with comfy chairs and slow music which literally nearly sent me to sleep I was so relaxed! We didn't have any treatments so couldn't say what they're like. Overall we had a terrific experience and although it is a little pricey you certainly get what you pay for!

Nice and modern spa hotel with plenty treatments to choose from. Spacious rooms with average hotel Wi-Fi, very nice gardens to take a long walk and the overall service is great. Pool and thermal lounge are very nice too, however loungers could be renewed. The food offering is ok, but could be a bit more on the healthy side — lasagna was a bit greasy. Definitely book a table for dinner in advance, as they do not have enough space to accommodate all guest.

Brilliant place to go to if you want to relax, take it easy and get away from everything. You soon get used to people walking around in the supplied bath robes. Overall an exceptional relaxing break.

Treatments are great but that's about it. For the price you pay maintenance of the place and quality of the place are very poor not high standard like you would expect. The electric towel rail in our room was hanging off the wall, dirt in the shower and a cheap plastic shower mixer. There was some kind of tape on top of the bathroom door with little dead insects on it. Staff are just as laid back as the people having their time there. Checking in and out takes a very long time. We phoned and booked treatments before going, we was given time our treatments were but that is not the case they are allocated when you arrive which don't help when you have other things planned. When we queried the times we was asked to go back and check at 8.30 in the morning, there was space and we could change them but if not we would get a refund. Glad to say there was space available. You can take at least 10 minutes off your treatment times for waiting around and the question they ask you which you have filled in on a questionnaire. Well over priced for what you get.

Poor communication with guests, Requested latest massage time, and was told 6.15pm, as My friend and I were unable to get to lifehouse spa any earlier than 4pm, I never got my email confirmation until I telephoned on the day of arrival. I telephoned Lifehouse and was put on hold for over half an hour then when I got through I was told an email would be sent but no email was sent. I telephone Lifehouse on the day just before leaving my house and they said it can take 24 hours for emails to arrive! Then the gentleman on the phone told me that my massage was at 4pm! so missed 4pm massage as booked! I had no way of knowing, no provisional times were sent to me, I was stressed when I got to the lifehouse spa with my friend and then they told me it was our meal that was at 6.15pm! They changed our dinner time to 9.30pm, I was up all night as that time was far too late to eat, I had bad indigestion. They need to email clients with provisional bookings so that clients know when to arrive and what time to expect their treatments. Poor communication. We know treatments are subject to change but send email confirmation with 'PROVISIONAL' bookings to give clients some idea when to arrive. Its common cutesy and provides good customer relations.

Very relaxed environment, the staff are lovely and very attentive. The restaurant turns out superb dishes. There is a very large range of treatments available and not too expensive. All in all, I will be coming back for another stay at some point in the future.

Spa day including breakfast and lunch and one treatment. The place is lovely, friendly staff, wonderful buffet food, fantastic facial/massage. Would highly recommend.

Very nice environment. A lot of land to cover. The hotel itself is lovely. Spa is relaxing when not busy. The actually treatments are ridiculously EXPENSIVE! Very peaceful and quiet.

Nice gardens and friendly/helpful staff. Treatments were good but the place needs to be refurbed, looking a little tired and worn in places. Food was also good, nice evening meal. The place let's itself down on the little details, dirty cups in the room, staff knowledge on treatments a little sketchy, sleep pods above swimming pool area so you can hear everyone there which defeats the purpose.

Really nice place with a lovely relaxing mood as soon as you walk through the door. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was very nice but menu could do with a bit more options, quite limited menu.

The hotel is set in nice grounds that you are free to explore. The garden room we stayed in was very comfortable and had a nice outlook with doors to an outside seating area. The spa facilities were excellent and well looked after by the staff. The dinner and breakfast we had was excellent, with a good selection of food and good quality produce.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Good sized swimming pool and jacuzzi. Second time stay willow room overlooking courtyard. Nice to have second floor room so could sleep with balcony door open on a warm summer evening. Nice selection of food at breakfast. Have not eaten in restaurant or bar.

The gardens looked like they could be beautiful but were unkept and untidy and the fact the whole place was covered in bird poo put us off going there again. Our 3 course meal was booked for 7:45 and we didn't get a starter until 8:30 and didn't actually get the main until 10pm! And that was only after we asked where was our food so wasn't surprised when it came out cold. We didn't even stay for the desert because who knows how long that would have taken I might still be there now waiting. The spa was poor, salt room and jacuzzi were good but sauna and steam room were the worst I've been to, aqua springs in Colchester is much better. The breakfast was good and so was my back massage, top notch. We paid £330 for the sunshine package and I would have felt disappointed if I had paid £150. I definitely won't be back the place is run down and needs some serious investment in the gardens and the building as a whole it looks like no money has been spend on maintenance. 2/10 stars.

Third stay and I still can't fault this place. Sat in the superior double room now enjoying some wine and even though it's raining I'm still smiling! 100% recommend Lifehouse if you need a nice relaxing chilled break.

Our third time back at the Lifehouse and still find it hard to find fault. Beautiful setting, fantastic rooms, fabulous restaurant and bar and excellent pampering and treatment facilities. Totally refreshed after our visit.

Great facilities. Great food. Great staff. My only complaint would be that for a spa it seemed rather busy, but I imagine this wouldn't bother most people. Once again, a great stay.

The Grounds are amazing if you like nature. The room was great (no hairdryer tho and they couldn't/wouldn't provide one). The spa facilities themselves were nice, and the massages we had were well done with good products. Don't eat there though, it's more like bad pub grub than nice hotel food. My wife's risotto was under done, and the Mac and cheese I ordered was made with spiral pasta (animals! ) And was kinda just meh! Great location, good facilities, nice treatments just avoid the food and bring your own hair dryer ;) also cheap!

Over priced, horrendous lunch, so called 3 course meal is actually a buffet of rice and chicken! Facilities are worse than any local David Lloyds, no exaggeration I waited 42minutes for a scone in the cafe! Massage was good but not good enough to warrant a return to put up with poor service and low quality facilities and food.

I have just arrived from this Spa. Me and my girlfriend spent a night in this Spa to celebrate her birthday. Rooms was big, clean and comfortable. No noise during the night and a huge bed. Spa also was clean and not issues at all. I could say if I compare with Spas in another countries, facilities were a bit sort… 3 sauna rooms, jacuzzi and swimming pool. Also there is a gym, a relaxing area and gardens but I am talking about Spa rooms or facilities. Massage included in the pack was nothing special just a 25 min. Back massage, no a full body massage. The worst point of the hotel is the restaurant, please avoid it. Food is overpriced and very average… similar than any food you can order in a local pub, just change the price. For example I had an Steak 28£ priced that was nothing special, coming with a plate of fries expect something more elaborate for 28£ fillet. Staff was helpful but I think poorly organized as we were waiting 30' to order and get the deserts. Maybe a bad day but we had 4 different waiters attending the tables. Facilities were clean and staff was helpful all the time. Overall rate could be higher if they improve the restaurant and add massage more complete in the in the package.

Had a wonderful nights stay with my girlfriend. The facilities were excellent and the staff really friendly. Came back feeling very relaxed.

Just came back from a wonderful stay on a 2 day romantic package. 1st class treatment all the way. All staff friendly and helpful. Highlight for us was the meditation class by the wonderful Michael, even lent us some books to read during our stay. Been to loads of spa days/breaks but noting compares to lifehouse spa/hotel will definately be back.

Room fantastic big comfy bed, food very good with a fantastic choice set out by ugo a top chef. And the spar so relaxing with pleasant staff throughout the hotel. Will be back.
