Extremely pleasant place to visit, Everyone made welcome. Definitely worth staying at.

We stayed 2 nights. And it’s perfect for weekend stay. Room lovely and clean. Perfect location. Really close to main strip but further enough away to get any nightlife noise. There’s even a bar which is always a bonus. Very friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

Stayed here for 2 days at first worried because of the price being so low but amazing absolutely fantastic room was basic but for basic needs spot on as I was on my own made to feel very welcome. Did try to book again because of my situation but owners would be on holiday at that time nothing against them everyone deserves a holiday and I hope to stay there again as I am making regular visits (meal in the morning including price of the room) well done owners couldn’t ask for more.

If u could give minus stars I would. The place smells the decor is 80s spec but worst of all the owners dogs who DO NOT stop barking day and night If I had not paid in advance then I would never have paid the asking price having listened to those dogs all weekend. Book the Melrose at your peril.

So looking good for the week stay out here and hope there can be a nice stay for a week, quick and easy from Clacton railway atation if walking down main A133. Been to Clacton before so a good place now to stay.

Lovely clean b&b at a very reasonable price! Hearty breakfast, friendly staff, excellent location. Basic decor could do with a revamp, but beds are comfortable and communal shared bathrooms are kept to a good clean standard. Have stayed here on a few occasions, would recommend for a 'no frills' stay at a fair price and superb location! Dog friendly too.

I would give this hotel 5 stars if the shower and toilet weren't downstairs from my room, cause there's just one shower/bath and toilet on the first floor. Apart from that the customer service was top notch, the breakfast was TO DIE FOR (especially the fried bread) and the women working there were super friendly and made you feel at home. I'm definitely booking this hotel in future instead of The Ocean Hotel.

Stayed for a night after seeing show nice friendly staff good breakfast decent low budget hotel would defineatly stay again if coming to clacton.

Needed a place to stay last minute very late at night and they couldn't be more helpful. They also included breakfast which was nice. Old hotel. Needs updating but staff friendly and helpful and good for what we needed.

Nice place to stay, great location by the sea front, lovely breakfast, room is very basic but has the essentials, shame my dvd player weren't working in room but TV works great with freeview, overall very welcoming staff.

A comfortable hotel, adequate for what you pay. Room was clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and the food was good.

I stayed at the Melrose for two nights and was impressed with the value. It comes up as the cheapest on searches and therefore my expectations were low, I had also read a few bad reviews. On arrival I realised that parking could turn out to be a hassle as there are limited on site spaces (about eight cars) and you may be asked to move to let others out. I was greeted by John and his wife whom were welcoming and friendly.   I had a top floor room with shared bathroom and toilet no see friends unfortunately, the room was clean and had a corner sink, TV and coffee making facilities. The location was excellent and just a short distance to shops, pier, gardens and the beach which is right across the road. The hotel has a large downstairs layout with darts, pool table, fish tanks, TV and its in-house bar. In the morning a very good English breakfast was served between 8-9 by friendly staff. Also included was toast, yogurt, cornflakes, juice unlimited tea/coffee 5/5 breakfast. Apart from possible parking hassles the only other negative was a poor Wi-Fi signal upstairs.

Well what a wonderful friendly place well enjoyed our 3night stay staff so nice good breakfast we had a sea view not far to the pier so much going on we loved it will definitely go there again loved the sea side.

Wifi didnt work and a bit run down but owners were nice, breakfast was good and competitive price.

In these days of getting what you pay for. It is so refreshing to find real value for money! A comfortable and friendly atmosphere, and a superb breakfast. No complaints at all. Recommend 100%. I shall be using again. Free Wi-Fi was the icing on the cake!
