Enjoyed our stay. Although felt they needed a comfy sofa area. Staff friendly. Good good.

Reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. Noisy room over kitchens, extraction on all night outside window. No air conditioning, so have to sleep with window open. Radiator on in bathroom despite it being summer resulting in sauna in bathroom. Unable to raise anyone from reception to get an iron. Net curtain filthy. Breakfast adequate but didn't even get what I ordered. Suggest you take your custom elsewhere, this is simply not got enough these days.

The hotel is on the long cliff that overlooks the North Sea. Its located further north-eastwards of Clacton pier and town-centre and is away from the bustle of the city and the crowds. But that and ample parking at the rear are the only positives, I guess. Negatives are lack of cleanliness in rooms (I accidentally peeked into a radiator and it had tonnes of dust in it), unkempt carpets in rooms as well as common-areas, and untidy lawns next to their restaurant. Breakfast wasn't too bad though they do not do a full-buffet breakfast, so you have to order from a menu of 5-6 options. The Eggs Royal (a Twist on Eggs-benedict but with Salmon) was quite good I must say. Hotel can do with some additional staff members in peak-times like Bank holiday weekends and school-breaks.

Rooms very clean and staff very friendly also bed very comfy. Downside our room was by the smokers area and delivery point 8am Sunday morning so very noisy. Bar area dining area and main toilets very dirty which was a shame to see.

The Bride and Groom couldn't have chosen a better wedding venue, excellent hotel, staff couldn't have been more helpful, beautiful rooms, compliments to all chefs that provided the wedding breakfast, evening buffet and breakfast next morning. Lesley the Wedding planner. What a GEM!, planned, arranged and worked tirelessly all day with a smile on her face, gave the Bride, Groom and their guests the best day ever, thank you.

Attended a wedding this weekend there. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was good and presented well. Rooms clean and was thrilled with sea view. Ample car parking space and restroom excellent standard.

Lovely Sunny day sat out in the outside area lovely lunch plenty of space and a large rear car park been before and will go again.

Our receptionist was very welcoming and informative. The room was clean and the super king bed was very comfy. Housekeeping was short of staff and the room was unserviced on the first morning. Next day we met our room maid. We told her not to bother with our room, but she gave us more tea making supplies and emptied our full bin. She stressed that we only had to ask if we required anything, but was relieved to have one less room to clean. We chose not to eat in the evenings as the menu was limited and overpriced. Breakfast was included but basic items had to be requested as it was not provided ie butter, marmalade, napkins, sauces.

Was there attending a wake! Excellent food and lovely place. Clean and tidy x.

Nice and cosy hotel… bit too far from the centre and the amenities… Good food and friendly people… clean and comfortable room!

Lovely spacious room, friendly staff, we had a comfortable stay.

Slow service in resturant. Very small meals. Chicken and veg pie only served with one spoonful of mash no vegetables. I will say fish and 8 chips was tasty though. But not impressed also quite chilly in resturant at lunch time. Not good value for price.

Have stayed here and am pleased to say it is now my local Bar to pop into for a pint. Excellent place to eat, drink and relax.

We had afternoon tea for two in the restaurant, early afternoon. We were the only two in there which was so nice. :) I said to my other half that I hired the whole restaurant out for her! :D We had been given a voucher as a Christmas present which included a glass of Prosecco. They made the experience special with traditional music from the likes of Frank Sinatra. Great location overlooking the sea. V. Friendly staff. For those that like to know what you are given: A large pot of Tea or Coffee, three different soldier sandwiches, two scones with clotted cream, three different Macaroons and two different pieces of cake. Very nice experience!

Today we held the Parkinson's Clacton Branch Christmas dinner at the hotel. There were 60 of us, and the hotel did an excellent job. The food was excellent and everyone really enjoyed the afternoon. With our thanks to Lesley and the staff.

Great location right on the seafront and very upmarket. The kingscliff hotel is ideal for special occasions and is very popular for weddings. Had afternoon tea here and it was a real occasion and is a lovely location to take loved ones for that special day or romantic evening meal.

Friendly staff, nice seaside view. De pier is an half an hour walk. We stayed to catch the ferry on saterday early morning in Harwich. The staff prepared perfect basic sandwiches because we would miss either the ferry or the breakfast due to timing issues. Recommendable place to stay if you need free parking and not the tourist zone… and beach in front of the hotel.

Very good hotel but would benefit from airconditioning in the rooms! Garden area needs attention! The hotel has no lift so if you have trouble with stairs book a downstairs room.

Only had lunch here but we found the service and food very good it was so good that we have booked Christmas dinner here which was reasonably priced.

A very nice clean hotel but lacks atmosphere. The staff seem to be constantly learning and have heads in paperwork. No one speaks to you in reception when you leave or come in. The warmest member of staff was the young lady who cleaned our room and the older lady cleaning another room. Lovely large car park for guests. Nice garden to front but if you want to sit out of the Sun, the tables and chairs are broken and filthy. There is no lift to the first floor and the carpet on the stairs has water marks all over. The air flow throughout the hotel is poor and it would benefit from air conditioning.

Great night however bar was very slow. Was a wedding though so understandable. Maybe more staff next time.

Nice views if you have a seaside room. Good bar with nice meals also. New bathrooms that unfortunately aren't planned very well, they are very big but don't have a bathtub when there is more than enough room for one.

Great place, parking was plenty. We were there for a wedding, which was very nice, but there wasn't enough staff to cope with the people. Apart from that, the food was very nice, and the staff were helpful.

Went here for afternoon tea. Took my partners parents here for special occasion and was very disappointed. Did not provide enough chairs for the booking. Did not even offer our kids any drinks. Some of the bread on the sandwiches was stale. The filling in the sandwich was barely present. The water jugs and coffee pots were dirty. Had to leave the restaurant to find someone if we wanted anything as there was never anyone around. Rubbish.

Afternoon tea was provided. The food was acceptable, the range of sandwich fillings was limited. The room used was well laid out but there were not enough chairs to cater for all the people present.

We just went for the restaurant. Excellent quality of food — well worth the small wait for it to be cooked. I would strongly recommend it. We are now planning a Christmas booking. Other diners were also delighted with the meal.

Absolutely fantastic, food from the A la carte menu was truly amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful we will definitely go again.

My husband and I stayed one night midweek after a journey up from Plymouth in a sea view room. Room was tidy but unfortunately we never did get that peaceful and comfortable nights sleep. Firstly the super kingsize bed had a super kingsize duvet cover with a smaller duvet inside, therefore one of us was covered by just the cover! The shower had no mat whatsoever and was highly slippery! But the really disappointing thing was that during the night the front fire exit door was constantly opened and slammed shut waking us up with a startle. On complaining in the morning to Reception we were told the hotel does not usually use that door and 'sorry'. Advised them that we will not be staying there again. The Manager was in ear shot in his office and didn't even bother to come out. It does not live up to its image. I was surprised to see no doors on cupboards or wardrobes or anywhere to hang towels. For an £80 a night room I did expect a towel rail!

Stayed two nights room was very well appointed comfortable bed and the shower was hot!. An excellent breakfast each morning helped us on our way. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was superb.

Having walked along The cliff top path to the Haven yacht club and returned via the promenade with a need to celebrate my 81st birthday we sought lunch at The Legacy Kingscliff Hotel for lunch. All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and taken through to the Restaurant. Although we were the only diners on that Sunday, we ordered from the A la Cart menu, and the food that was prepared for us was absolutely wonderful from a starter of well seasoned asparagus and poached egg followed by a Ribeye steak cooked perfectly to my choice with salad and chips. The meal was the very best that I have ever eaten. Service was prompt, courteous, smiling, and efficient. If you like the best in food, well cooked to your requirements then you have to visit this Hotel Restaurant.

Stayed at thousands of hotels over my years on the road but was completely surprised at the standards of excellence at this gem. The decor and rooms are excellent and new, must have been recently made-over looking at other reviews? The food was it's crowning glory and was comparable to central London haute cuisine when we had dinner and breakfast. As always I will try and find something that that the hotel could improve and I am hard pushed but noise from kitchen expel air may upset light sleepers That's about it.

Real value £65 per room incl breakfast for two, with an outstanding sea view. The room was a little tired but was clean and well equipped, the Restaraunt was well priced and had a good menu, there was a long wait for food but we decided it was worth waiting for as all the food was fresh and tasty, I know this hotel has had a few bad reviews which was from a wedding party but come on £65 is great value as far ad I am concerned.

We are regular users of hotels for short breaks in the UK, we are also users of hotels in the far East of high standard 5 star quality as we have a son who lives in the far East. We found this hotel to be as good as any that we have paid 3 times the price that we paid to stay at the Kingscliff, the rooms were spacious very well colour Co Ordinated, clean and included all the items missing in most UK hotels i. E trouser press and toiletries, the staff were professional, polite and friendly, and in smart uniforms. The food was excellent, one small detail that could be improved was to serve fresh tea and coffee at breakfast instead of from separate vacuum jugs, that was not in keeping with all other standards at the hotel. Location right on promenade, a very enjoyable stay and we will return without doubt. I cannot understand the last complaint as we did a booking at the last minute and received excellent service although we wanted peace and quiet not a Disco.

We booked for the christmas dinner party night only to discover when we arrived that there no party night or disco, the staff and duty manager had no idea what was arranged, the dinner was warm, very little of it, the dinning room was equally luke warm we ended up sitting with the residence who were eating their dinner in coats no atmosphere, complete rip off would never recommend to my worst enemy you have been warned.
