Staff are very nice and helpful. I was with my family there are 20 of us. They went above and beyond to help Stevie done amazing with us ordering food as well she was in control of it all and was very nice to all of the kids that was with us also. Would highly recommend rooms are also lovely.

Gorgeous Lunch served in such a friendly environment. The fish and chips was delicious. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for a lovely coffee and cake. I absolutely adore how much effort the pub has put into LGBTQI+ efforts for Pride and the local community. 🌈
The interior is lovely with great prices and friendly, inclusive staff. This is my new favourite pub in Braintree! Can’t wait for the Pride night on Sunday!

Staff walking behind our table when they should walk around the wall. Waited 25 minutes for a drink to then go to pay at the end and had other people's drinks on our tab. Staff not sure what they are doing.

Nice social distancing measures in place very clean food was very good nice drink and new staff learning and very pleasant.

Been in a couple of times, once to watch a live band who were absolutely brilliant. Another time for lunch, the service was TERRIBLE had to wait forever for the food to arrive and funnily enough we witnessed a man complaining about how rude the staff were to him as he demanded his refund. Finally I was in on Saturday with the supposedly really loud group of ladies! Noise was clearly not a problem to you in your pub on my first visit…? Rude jumped up staff telling us to keep the noise down at 10:30 on a Saturday evening!
So all in all, I certainly wouldn’t recommend for either the food or the staff hospitality.

I was hoping to leave a review of the food but after sitting in the dining area for 20 minutes, and being passed by a member of staff 4 times, with only 2 other tables occupied we finished our drinks and went else where.

What a lovely place to stay. Wonderful staff, clean and tidy rooms. A quiet location so you get a restful nights sleep. 100% happy with our stay and will happily come back again.

Sub standard food, cold, nothing left and bar service non existent — every time i've been in there its the same, everyone complaints about same things but they do nothing to improve — being in the centre of town this is a missed opportunity to be a great place to go, shame.

We had our wedding reception at The White Hart on Wednesday and can't thank all the staff enough for everything. Right from the initial booking they were amazing. We booked the Tudor Room which is gorgeous and was perfect for us. The buffet was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We can't recommend The White Hart enough for a special occasion. We wouldn't hesitate to use it again and will be back for lots more visits.

I bitterly regret choosing to have my birthday meal here with my family.
After waiting almost 2 hours for our food to come out I was served a raw scotch egg.
When I complained to the person serving behind the bar (couldn’t find anyone else) she seemed to find the situation amusing.
This was a Wednesday evening and not very busy.

Just been for Lunch at The White Hart for the first time in a couple of yrs. My friend and I had an excellent Lunch of Gourmet Burgers, and Rosemary salted Fries. Every mouthful was absolutely delicious! Well worth 5 Stars. And we will certainly be going back. Soon!

It's lovely. Proffers a good range of beverages and vittels in nice spaces. Beer very fresh and quaffable.

Picturesque English place. The restaurant offers good food and beer. He doesn't have a place for kids. Which can bore the little ones very quickly.

To be fair it should be a really nice place to have a drink. However the service is some what lacking. Waiting 10 minutes to get a drink when there are only a couple of people waiting is not good. And I have to say the peroni is always flat, I had to go back to fosters.
Lack of stools at the tables is always a problem to.
Shame as good be a really good place to have a drink without all the hassle the town usually brings.

Would have been nice if your staff had told us you had stopped serving food at 8pm today before we wasted money on drinks to have with our meal

Attended a wake in the function room at the bar. Nice buffet spread put on, plenty of food and tea. Bar prices were reasonable for a chain pub, function room was nicely sized and comfortable as well as secluded from the main bar.

Midweek overnight stay at the White Hart in Braintree. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The pub caters for Coeliacs requiring gluten free food although best to tell them when booking so they can make sure they have bread available. The rooms were what you expect from Old English Pubs. Functional but not high spec. A bit of kitchen noise could be heard as my room was above so not quiet until about 10pm. Over all an okay stay but the staff are what make this place not the rooms.

Not impressed. £80 for a superior room. Rooms haven't been decorated in years. The mattress is cheap, has lumps and bumps and a dip in the middle, probably hasn't been replaced in 5 years. Expected more when paying this sort out money.

I have stayed in many hotels up and down England and it is without a doubt the best I have been to the management and staff were so polite and helpfull the kitchen staff produced ecelent food and the chamber maids were ecelent so marks out of 10 / 10 and you must try Alisons home made soup.

We stayed for one night when we attended a birthday party nearby. We were concerned after reading some of the reviews, but any niggles were sorted out by common sense or by asking staff. We stayed in room 7 in the old part of the hotel which was nicely decorated. The room was warm but we just turned the heating down. As with any old building the floors were uneven but this is to be expected. No view, but that was no problem for the time we spent there and nobody overlooking our room. The breakfast was very good with a nice selection of hot and cold food and although there were a lot of guests in the breakfast room the staff coped well and were pleasant and attentive.

A fantastic place, friendly staff, great food and a warm atmosphere make it a pleasant place to stay, they have been very helpful with myself and my service therapy dog Bryan and we will definitely be back, highly recommend,

Service is atrocious because the General Manager hasn't got a clue and is rarely to be seen. It's a shame because the day to day staff are friendly, they just need better direction! Chef always forgets to put something on the plate… Not somewhere to go for a relaxing meal, we always leave feeling frustrated. Shame because it's very central and could be so much better!

Bring the family in here once a month, staff are great, food is tasty and feeding a family of four doesn't break the bank.

We attended White Hart Hotel for a special surprise Birthday party for my Niece. The atmosphere in the hotel was welcoming, they allocated two rooms to use, and we're very hospitable. The food was a very generous buffet all very delicious. My husband is coeliac (gluten free) and they supplied a good selection of food for him. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice and cosy pub in Braintree. Staff were all very friendly and attentive even under the strain of a busy lunchtime service. Attended for a business meeting. First time in the bar and felt very welcome, ordered drinks and a couple of sides. Food and drink were both exceptional. Would visit again on this experience.

Previously, I'd written a bad review but can now change it for the better. I stayed there for a week in summer 2016 and it was hugely improved! Well done them. The service was good, the food good and the rooms were clean and everything worked. It was still a bit shabby around the edges and it's horrible if you've a disability as there are no lifts (elevators) and yet there are three different levels to ascend or descend. Parking is available (albeit tight) but it still maintains the charm of old and is slap-bag in the middle of the town.

Staff are pleasant but bar service is often slow. Food of good quality.

Christmas party 2nd year that We've booked the White Hart. Last year was brilliant and I was looking forward to going tonite. Where shall I start we was rushed to sit at table for our starters then we had to wait for ages for plates to be cleared away; then we waited for ages for main which was cold and not enough portion size. Dessert was ok on a whole the evening was awful.

It's a very nice place, good menu. The only thing it takes a while until the food is served. So be patience.

I'm giving this place 3stars because when we arrived after a 4 hour journey and rung the bell for reception no one turned up for ages. My partner had to find some one in the restaurant to come to the desk.
Room was lovely and spacious.
Dinner was lovely and staff were friendly but got feeling they were understaffed as loads of people were waiting for food and drinks for long time. The chef even was visably frustrated and started serving customers himself.
We had cigarette smoke coming into our room window all the time.
Wasn't happy with the breakfast. Was looking forward to the fruit salad and could see and definitely smell it was fermenting. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and then apologised and said there wasn't anymore which was a shame. My sons waffles were dry and tasted like cardboard and our fry ups tasted weird. My partner is now poorly since having some of his fry up.
Place needs to be revamped as it looks like the ceiling has collapsed at some point.

First visit and just wanted something quick and had Hunters chicken… Awful, chicken and bacon was dry and hard… Just before we did complain, the table behind us also complained as well, so obvious not an isolated incident.

Met my parents who were hotel guests for breakfast with my young son, the staff were awesome with him, really engaging and helpful. Lovely continental breakfast with EXCELLENT cinnamon buns and plenty of good coffee! My parents also enjoyed the cooked breakfasts.

Lovely building, lots of history! Staff all seem very friendly and willing to help, especially the lovely barmaid who served us! We spoke to a lovely young man about booking a table and he couldn't be more helpful, we didn't have food this time around but we did stop at the bar where they had quite a selection of drinks, in particular a to-die-for rhubarb gin! Would definitely recommend to others.

We went for Sunday dinner. Staff were polite, but perhaps not enough were available to wait on everyone as quickly as one would have hoped. Delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere.

Room was lovely and excellent price. Breakfast was a little disjointed as there wasn't a member of staff present until we had filled up on toast and pastries. However, it was busy, so all was forgiven!

Good place to stop for a drink or a quick meal. Interior is really well done with lots of beams and oak.

Didn't pick the phone up for the whole day, eventually got through and booked the last room. Once arrived the room was unclean, but most importantly the bed sheets were rough and look like the kind of sheets you give to dogs. Very unclean they were supposed to be white but were actually yellow. I had to go to the bar to get help once I traced the manager she took 2 hours to get to the room to say that that was the last bed duvet cover and gave me an old sheet to cover it which did not help. I advise everyone to stay WELL AWAY.

Working away from home, I was due in Braintree the following morning and found The White Hart Hotel online. They had three rooms available for that evening but as I had an early morning start, I rang them to ask what time breakfast service began. The call went to answerphone. I left a message with my details explaining that I wanted a room and asked them to call back. By the afternoon I heard nothing. There were still two rooms available on line but I rang again and left another message asking to reserve a room. I rang a few more times on my way from Norwich and finally got through to someone as I was entering Braintree. I was told they were now fully booked. I explained that I had left two messages and had asked to reserve a room. I didn't get an apology or even an offer to help me find somewhere else locally So, perhaps I was lucky to have not got a room at The White Hart after such a disappointing level of customer service. I am now typing this review in a very cosy room in The Saracens Head, Great Dunmow. A wonderful little village just 10 minutes away, where they answer their phones and are far more civil. A lucky escape.

Bar staff are hugely overworked/undertrained and this results in a negative experience in what should be a premium venue. Never any crisps behind the bar, no ice, no lime. Usually one would blame the staff but they are quite clearly too overworked or understaffed to restock the bar area.

Friendly staff, spacious double room, good breakfast. Great location for town centre amenities. Easy parking. Overall a very pleasant stay and wouldn't hesitate to come again.

Very pleasant experience, excelent food and service, staff willing and polite. Old part of the building bedroom access not suitable for people with mobility problems. A few minor problems with wear and tear in our room, Accomodation pricing was very good, will stay again.

Wonderful place to stay. Came here on a business trip and although its a three star hotel. The service and environment is world class and the food is great, and not to mention wonderful service from staff.

Have visited this hotel/bar on several occasions but since the refurbishment, thought we'd go and have a look at the new décor. We visited on a Sunday, late afternoon and wasn't disappointed. The service in the restaurant was excellent, and our waiter, Fabio was superb. Couldn't fault the food, the roast is normally £8.99 but after 5pm on Sunday is only costs £5.50 and worth every penny. Recommend the sharing dessert 'Fairground attraction' think I've got the name right. Will definitely be revisiting the White Hart and recommending it to friends and family.

We stayed two nights with dinner on one night and breakfast on two mornings. The hotel has recently been refurbished and we were very comfortable in our room in the older part of the hotel (although you need to be agile to negotiate the various levels — this part is not for the infirm! ). The food was good at both breakfasts, service polite and helpful. The dinner menu was extensive, but the restaurant was very busy (Friday) and we felt staffing was slightly inadequate; those on duty were very overworked but coped. We remember the White Hart from many years ago, it is much improved and compared with the cheaper 'inns' this is good value for money. One thing there is no control of are the noisy individuals who seem to roam town centre streets until the early hours shouting as loud as they can; being a town-based hotel, we put up with this but sleep was disturbed at times; in comparison, the busy traffic movements outside our room didn't bother us. Well done to all staff on duty who contributed to make our visit very enjoyable.
