Stayed for 2 weeks while on a training course with work, great family run pub. Very friendly and helpful staff and great food. Would deffinately stay again if im ever down this way. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

What an amazing Christmas day dinner. The food was superb. The service fantastic as always. I loved the way we were given breathing space between each amazing course. We can honestly say we have never tasted food so good. Thank you to you all for your hard work xx When can we book for next year? ;) xx.

Breakfast with Santa this morning was such a lovely way to start off a weekend of Christmas celebrations.
The extra little touches were super and the children really enjoyed themselves!
Will definitely be doing this again next year.

I can not rave about this place enough. I asked if I could hold my wife's 40th birthday party here. They asked what I wanted and organised everything. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Even made my wife's favourite pudding. A massive home made trifle. All of the staff were friendly and polite to our guests offering advice on different cocktails, which was great fun. We stayed overnight in the family room which was very comfortable and more importantly very clean. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty especially the sausages. Highly highly recommend.

Lovely room we stayed in clean and spacious. All the staff very friendly and polite. Nothing to much trouble. If you like your food then do not miss this place on your bucket list. Will definitely be staying again and passing on to anyone that needs a break. Cheers all at the red lion.

Under new management. Popped in for lunch and were not disapointed. Staff so helpful and friendly. Food was of a high standard and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

The red lion is over 300 years old and sits at the centre of Wareham. The food is good, but beware the portions are large. We could only just manage the lighter bite options. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

Food was lovely. Access was a struggle with a pram and service was a little slow although server was polite and friendly.

Originally only popped in for a coffee, which was good, with a lovely home made shortbread biscuit included in the price, which was very reasonable anyway. We thought "must try this place for a meal soon" … Returned twice to give it a fair chance, both times the meals were very average, we were the only customers on both occasions, landlady pretends to be interested but isn't really, someone she knew came in for a chat and we hardly saw her again. Both her and the 'chef' stood at the end of the room waiting for us to finish so he could go home! No wonder it's never busy, just stick to the coffee.

Fantastic staff, great service, cosy and accommodating. The Red Lion is a good stop over if you are making a long weekend visit to the Purbecks, or is an excellent place of reward after a good tramp along the coast or over the Heath. The Rex Cinema is about 2 minutes walk down the way, and with a film usually showing after 7pm, the Red Lion is a good place for dinner beforehand, or a nightcap after the movie: though in my case, it is usually both. Rooms are well laid out and parking, while limited, is available. Talk to the staff, and they will readily help you.

Lovely, friendly welcoming staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great night's sleep and lovely breakfasts. The chocolate sponge is DIVINE.

I love the Red Lion; it's such a nice environment for a quiet drink in the day or night. The staff are always very welcoming. Epic hot chocolate, delicious coffee, and a great range of beers, ciders, gin, and whiskey.

Had drinks at the bar on this occasion, but have eaten there several times previously. Nice establishment, wide range of food and drink. Comfortable and well appointed.

Have used the Red Lion recently booking meals for smaller family occasions as well as larger group bookings. Have always had really friendly staff and the management have always been in the restaurant to help with any queries re menus and dietary needs etc. It is really great that they are also part of the Welcome Breastfeeding Scheme in Dorset, shows great support for local people as well as families/mums visiting the county on holiday. Really friendly place to visit with great staff and an extensive gin menu.

We stopped off for a quick bite and to sample some local Ales. The food was nice and the ales were lovely. The interior was luxurious and had a homely feel. There was more than enough space to ensure a bit of privacy. The locals made us feel right at home upon arriving at the pub, which isn't always the case when visiting a small village.

Came for food and was very happy. Very friendly, efficient service, good food and nice decor. I found the menu a little limited but still had enough options to suit our group.

My mum and I stayed at the Red Lion for a few days. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Found the staff friendly, attentive and courteous. The breakfast was awesome and generous. However unable to comment about the meals during the day as we we so full after breakfast we didn't have room for a meal too. However the menu looked great and reasonably priced. They also offered lite bites too at lunchtime. The only criticism is that it was quite dark between rooms 11 and 12 as there was no light. Thoroughly great experience and location for Monkey World. Will be coming back very soon hopefully. Wareham is a great friendly place to visit.

Awful. Had rack of ribs. Very very tough. Had trouble cutting even after requesting a steak knife. Had no meat on them! When the staff were informed they walked away and completely blanked us! Would not recommend.

The staff at the red lion hotel are always very welcoming, the menu is varied and the food is lovely. The pub has a fantastic selection of unusual Gins and is the perfect place to visit if you enjoy your gin.

Just recently stayed at the red lion and I very much enjoyed my stay. Room was nice and big and airer. The only downside is that the Wi-Fi wasn't strong enough to reach the room I was in so couldn't get in contact with people as the signal kept going. Other then that everything was great. Had tea twice and the food was amazing aswell as at breakfast time too. I would also like to say thankyou to Kara on the front desk and bar and the Portuguese bar maid aswell. Didn't catch her name but both girls are a credit to the hotel and made me feel happy and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

Really nice food which was a step up from a standard pub menu, and good beer too!

Went in for an evening meal, which was well presented, and quickly delivered by personable staff. I was the only person in their at the time so things may be different when busy!

Perfectly competent rooms-in-a-pub, but nothing better. Reasonably cheap, and friendly. Don't expect it to be what it isn't and you won't be disappointed.
