Loud music playing till 3.30am, and a piercing alarm went off briefly twice, so wouldn’t stay here again.

Perfect situated for BIC. Beautifully decorated in Art Deco style with a fantastic bar attached! Did find this poking out from under my bed though when I got up to get ready & bed had moved slightly…Clearly it’s not always a twin room that Mums share with their Son! No plug sockets near beds! Not the best night sleep, especially when staff started bumping the metal laundry cages up the stairs in the early hours of the morning…Who does that?

We have been staying at the Royal Exeter hotel for the last 5 years this year we have brought my mother in law age 95, the staff was fantastic and went above and beyond for us to make her stay so lovely and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. Thank you everyone at the Royal Exeter.

Although trying to be modern style, the building is old. With high ceilings, old sash windows and old furnishings. Would be hot in Summer as no A/C. Still uses keys for rooms. Reception staff seemed bored stiff, and playing on phones to keep from going nuts. 3 star at best.

Great Hotel, location is great with lovely atmosphere. Lovely dining experience well presented and filling. Room is very smart and super clean.

Have stayed at the Royal Exeter Hotel a number of times and look forward to my next visit as it certainly makes the holiday more enjoyable to be in such excellent accommodation. The staff are helpful and friendly and the rooms spacious, clean and well kept. The food is consistently good, although maybe a little more choice could be offered if you're staying longer.

Good value for money as I had the half board option. Nice pleasant restaurant where food was cooked to a high standard. Only in a single room but very spacious. Good standard of cleanliness. The staff are friendly. Little bit more communication required as I kept mentioning I was half board when in the restaurant. The breakfast is good but staff need to be allocated particular tables to avoid different staff asking you the same questions with regards to your order.

Fabulous place where we stayed as a family. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Food at breakfast and dinner great. Rooms clean and v comfortable. Felt looked after and relaxed. Will go back for an adult stay as there's a gin bar called the Ginporium!

Thank you for making our stay so wonderful. Everyone in all areas of the hotel from Reception (I can't praise Sarah and Demitri enough), kitchen, housekeeping, and bar provided excellent service; and always with a smile.

Nice large room and great full English breakfast. Quick check in at reception and staff very friendly. It's nice to see people with a smile on there face when they greet you. 1812 will what can you say bar staff always happy and friendly. Half price cocktails between 5-7.

Decor needs a bit of an update, but very, very clean. Breakfast was beautifully cooked with plenty of choice, and a huge plateful. The staff were helpful, polite, chatty and showed genuine interest when chatting with you. Nothing was to much trouble for them. The Hotel is situated in an ideal place, the Beach, the Shops all a short walking distance. Very impressed and would definitely go back.

Really friendly staff who all gave a great service, Good evening meal and breakfast, fantastic cocktails, just felt the room was a little dated, but with the convenience of being right opposite the BIC I would definately stay again.

Food for evening meal and breakfast was quality. Our bedroom was also top spec. Will definitely recommend and visit again.

Central to major attractions and shops beach etc in Bournemouth. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent Sunday lunch and cocktail bar. I will definitely be going back.

The hotel is in a great location just 2 minutes from the beach and close to the town centre. The food is truly amazing and worthy of 5 stars. Although the rooms could do with some upgrading, the hotel more than makes up for any decorating shortcomings by it's location and food. Great value for money.

Comfortable and extremely well priced rooms in perfect location, 2 minutes walk from seafront and five minutes from town centre. Fab bar (1812) attached to the hotel but live bands play there — if you are looking to sleep before midnight bring some substantial ear plugs! Overall great hotel for the price.

Came here on a two night Travelzoo break. The price was so inexpensive we weren’t expecting very much but it was far better than we could have imagined. The hotel is a beautiful old building that looks like a castle from the outside. The food was the highlight. Thought it would be mediocre at best but we were very pleasantly surprised. Breakfast and dinner were included and both were as good as any Hotel food we have had for years. Freshly cooked and delicious. Worth every penny.

Lovely olde world type hotel. Needs a fair bit of investment as it is showing its age. Staff were great, food breakfast was good. Well worth a return visit in the future.

We had a fantastic stay at the Royal Exeter Hotel. All the staff are lovely and friendly and provide a great service. The waitress's Chloe and Molly who served our dinner were exceptionally nice, they asked us if we were staying for a special occasion and when I said it was our 24 wedding anniversary they then came back to our table with a glass of proceso for us, it was a very pleasant surprise! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The hotel is beautiful and really clean! Couldn't fault a thing! Hope to return again soon.

Great location and lovely staff. Floorboard need changing… very sqeaky and noisy. Other than that really satisfied.

A bit 'last days of the Raj' but still good. Room fine and breakfast good. Opposite BIC so great for gigs etc.

The Royal Exeter is my favourite hotel in the UK. It is modest and non-pretentious, and the staff is genuinely caring and attentive to the needs of the guests. The breakfast is excellent, location is prime, and the nightclub 1812, which is part of the hotel, is classy, smart and fun.

The post code for the sat nav could not find the hotel, I came down the hill from the town center but the hotel does not show its name in that direction, the other not an issue, also if it said it was on a roundabout outside the BIC would, have found it. Asked for eggs with soliders, but the eggs where hard boiled also they sliced the toss before you could put butter on it, a customer next to me was moaning about the lumpy porridge as well, a good location, good free parking, staff very friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is perfect, 2 minutes walk to both the town centre and the beach. The room was nice and clean, no frills but not even anything bad to note. Staff was all very friendly and accommodating. Only negative side is that the TV service only has UK channels.

We stayed at the Royal Exeter Hotel as we were attending a convention for Jehovah's Witnesses over at the BIC. Bournemouth International Centre. This hotel is right opposite the BIC! Perfect! The rooms were lovely clean and big, and most rooms have a sea view which was great! The staff there were SO Lovely and accommodating. They opened breakfast early for us, yet ALL the staff were friendly and cheerful. Was a pleasure to stay there. Also having a free car park, we were able to leave our car there, in safety ALL 4 days of our stay. Will definitely be staying there again! Loved it!

Once you've managed to gain entry into the car park which is sneakily hidden just off the roundabout everything else is straightforward. From the easy pain free check in with attentive staff that are pleasant and non robotic conversation to the room I received which was like a maze to get through but worth it in the end. Overall I would recommend this hotel to friends and family as it's right by the beach and isn't to far from pubs and restaurants and a short walk to the shops.

Room and ensuite was spotlessly clean and the room was very spacious. However, the room looked rather dated and the decor sucked a lot of light from the room making it rather gloomy. The 3 course dinner we had in the 1812 restaurant was lovely… as was the breakfast next morning. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Just need to lighten and freshen the rooms up and this would be perfect hotel in a perfect location.

A very grand old hotel, full of character. Very polite and friendly staff. Good, if basic, facilities such a gym and jacuzzi. Good choices for continental and cooked breakfasts. Linked to two bars; one fantastic cocktail lounge and a more modern bar, both with outdoor terrace. Some rooms have whirlpool baths and four poster beds.

We had a very good deal from Travelzoo. £79 a night including breakfast and dinner.
We stayed 2 nights and were even upgraded to the 4 poster bedded room with the jacuzzi bath.
There is building work scheduled for next door and down the street.
You have distant sea views but the whole place lacks light: lots of red decor, closed blinds.
Even the restaurant is dark despite the Xmas lights.
It us aimed at a young, cocktail drinking post work clientele.
Beware the 2 bars and 1 nightclub with music until the early hours at the end of the week.

Really loved it my husband and I go every year on our anniversary. Everyone is very friendly and extremely helpful. The man who is manager in the restaurant is lovely he's been with the hotel a long time and always remembers us. The location is very central for shops the beach and all local amenities. The only down fall I would say is we only got one bath towel for my husband and myself it would have been nice to have had one each. Really nice hotel. Thank you.

A great night out was had. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service was great. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Location location location! Perfect for our regular trips to Bournemouth!

I've never stayed at the hotel itself but I do go to the bars down stairs ("Bar So" and "1812") both of which are great and have some really entertaining night there.

Fantastic hotel. Great location, courteous staff at reception, big rooms. The furnishings look a bit dated, but still loved it. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom quite spacious.

Went to the both bars. One was good but the other took a long time to get served.

Nice English style hotel with friendly staff and in a great location. It is very busy at night time though at the weekend when it turns into a bar/venue.

Best in Bournmeouth. I've stayed in a few hotels and B&Bs in Bournemouth, this one is my favourite. The staff are brilliant, from the staff at reception to the cleaners, all make you feel welcome there. The facilities are good and kept well, the breakfast is lovely and you have plenty of choices. Will stay here again next time I'm in Bournemouth.

Hotel is lovely, rooms are good size and very clean, bed comfortable and bathroom nice and clean. Food was great and staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Situated right next to the beach and the BIC, I highly reccomend this hotel for a weekend away.
