This is a fantastic place for a holiday, lovely accommodation, indoor heated pool, great walking country, pubs and restaurants nearby. We have stayed here twice, so far!

We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Victorian Barn for the celebration of my parents 40th wedding anniversary. It was a special place for a special celebration. Will definitely be returning one day with my family. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality such a lovely stay. The Poxon Family.

Ideal spot for a family holiday — great rooms with fantastic amenities, and views to die for! (plus a very warm swimming pool)

We stayed in the stable for 1 week, it's a lovely cottage with gorgeous views across the beautiful countryside. Being able to sit in the hot tub of an evening was just an added bonus. There was plenty for the children to do with the pool and games room. Would definitely recommend, we had a wonderful time.

Fantastic pool and great space for family fun.

I stayed at The Victorian Barn in Plumtree which slept six people. It was such a lovely peaceful setting, alongside great facilities, games room, playground and swimming pool, available 8am-8pm. On arrival and departure the staff were welcoming and helpful. I'd love to stay again, and would definitely recommend the venue to anyone visiting the area.

We have just renewed our vows at The Victorian Barn everything was perfect, we had the most fantastic day! A big thank you to Penny, Claire and their staff for everything they did for us and all our guests the day was magical x.

Beautiful place to stay! Something for everyone and only around 50 mins drive from the beaches! We will be returning x.

This place is a perfect haven of peace and beauty with all the facilities to keep everyone entertained… perfect holiday home.

We only visited friends staying here. There are a large number of self-contained apartments to stay in in tastefully converted barns. Accomodation is generous and the provision of facilities for kids is excellent, as the photos show. A really rural location makes this an ideal stop for families wanting to get away from urban bustle. That does mean a short drive for any of the excellent local pubs or shops.

Had a brilliant time here a couple of weekends ago for a birthday. The accommodation was great, perfect for 9 people sharing. Couldn't have asked for a better location, the scenery was exceptional and there are a couple of great pubs down the road. I didn't use the pool, but a couple in my group did and said it was great, though the times it is open weren't great but this didn't effect the experience. The only addition, and its only because the weather was so amazing, is bbq's for each of the cottages. We ate outside both evenings, but would have been nice to have a bbq to cook on, disposables just aren't up to a group of 9. Overall I would highly recommend this for groups or families trying to get away from the mania and relax in the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Overall, very good facilities with a large pool, sauna, gym, hot tubs dotted around the apartments, fishing lakes, games room, dining area, communal lounge (of sorts), lots of fridges and plenty of crockery and cutlery to go round for our party of 14. I kind of want to give 3.5 stars because of a few things: firstly, it gets VERY hot in the bedrooms and there are no fans or aircon to help with that. So you have to open the windows or skylight if you have one of those types of room. This leads me on to the most annoying part which is basically your loud and inconsiderate neighbours who might be a bunch of lads on a stag do or some-such like we had for both nights of our stay. They were out there until 2 or 3 am each night with very loud talking and music blaring that my young children and us adults found it very hard to sleep. Now this is not a criticism of the owners or the accommodation itself, but the layout of the buildings mean the outdoor communal space is right underneath the bedrooms and boy does the sound of highly inebriated individuals carry when the air is still. Finally, the lack of attention to detail: silly stuff like there being no toilet brushes, or our shower cubicle not draining, uncomfortable 'cheap and nasty' carpet in dining and living space areas, no fans, swimming pool is only open between certain times of the day, and things like that. Not a bad place to stay in by any means but just be aware that you could be sharing the area with noisy neighbours.

Great value for large families. Helpful host. Nice setting and lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Good leisure facilities, nice to sit outside and relax and watch the sun go down. Thanks for a great few days.

Beautiful setting with outstanding accomadtion.

Enjoyed a great stay there in April this year. Attended with a large group (21) and everyone commented on what a great venue it is. Large spacious cottages/barns which were clean, comfortable and well equipped. The venue also has a great pool and games room and whilst a good ten mins from anywhere it was perfect for us. We visited Durdle Door whilst there and it was just 40mins away. Would definitely stay there again.

Tend to charge for everything, and in the time I was there, pool was on only 50% of the time.

I have always thought this was a great place to go until this morning when I went to take my son swimming over a misunderstanding I was verbally abused, shouted at and made to feel stupid and scared by the owner and when I asked for a refund as I was not being spoken to the way I was I was told I wasn't aloud one very unprofessional won't be going again.

Just back from a lovely weeks break staying in Beatrice House at The Victorian Barn. Wonderful place; peaceful and tranquil whilst combining plenty of things for the children to do. Swimming pool was lovely and clean and a welcome pastime for a rainy day! Thank you Penny (not forgetting Katy and Jazz! ) for making our stay so lovely. Would definitely recommend this place. We will be back soon! x.

This is a good destination for families and friends, great location, nice facilities.

Really lovely venue for a wedding, the building is beautiful and the area outside perfect for wedding guests to enjoy a drink in the fresh air.

We played here for the first time for a private party in November, superb venue in a wonderful setting… and only just over the hill for our bass player (who is himself, just over the hill). Penny was very helpful and the party guests had a great time. We look forward to playing here again.

A lovely lovely holiday let in beautfiul quiet Dorest countryside. Spotlessly clean accomodation with nicely fitted out bathrooms and kitchen. Great facilities; Hot tub, pool, gym, free Wi-Fi (capped limit which as a family of four we didnt exceed) all made for a great stay. Woollaton is well positioned for driving (albeit slowly down lanes) to a selection of good food pubs (The Iberton at Iberton or the Fox at Ansty) also coastal towns (40 min) Weymouth, Swanage, Poole and other attractions Corfe Castle & Brownsea Island. Thank you Penny for a great week, made even better by good weather, we hope to see you again.

This is an amazing venue for a wedding! We would recommend it to anyone! The location is stunning and quiet, and having the onsite accommodation was a must for us so we could share the whole weekend with our guests, and nobody had to do any travelling once they got here! The food was amazing, and the bar staff were brilliant. Penny and Claire were very helpful on the day, even with minor changes being made last minute, and everyone enjoyed all of the facilities available. The rooms are lovely and modern and clean, and we had the best day of our lives. Thank you Victorian Barn! Mr and Mrs Clark x.

My husband and I stayed at The Victorian barn over Easter, it was our second visit to this beautiful place. This visit we stayed in the stable and the conservatory has the most gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. Penny was warm and welcoming as always, as was Katy one of the lovely farm dogs. The accommodation is spotless and the grounds are very well kept. We made good use of the swimming pool, sauna and communal hot tub. Free wi fi is a huge bonus, there is a fair usage policy in place but we stayed for a week, used the internet daily and didn't go over the allocated amount. The Victorian barn is very relaxing, tranquil and a perfect base for exploring Dorset. We're already planning a further trip with our extended family staying in one of the larger properties. This place really is a fantastic find and we cant wait to return.

I as really apprehensive about staying here for a friend's hen do after reading all the negative reviews on Google. I am actually grateful for this because it meant that I had a really pleasant surprise. The setting was beautiful, the rooms and facilities were excellent and Penny was very helpful and friendly. We had no problems at all during our stay. We had a three course meal arranged for us which was really nice and excellent service. We also had a dance lesson arranged for us which was taught by an excellent teacher (I have experienced some awful dance teachers in the past so I can tell the difference) who made it really fun. We had no problems with the deposit as we left the place as we found it. I am grateful to Penny for helping us to make my friend's hen do a really memorable occasion. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking somewhere nice to stay and would consider coming back here again soon.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful find. My friends and I had a wonderful weekend staying in the Victoria Suite. Penny was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was spotless and the kitchen was really well stocked which was very helpful. The whole site is beautifully kept and in such a stunning setting. We have booked up straight away for next year :-) Five stars!

Have just had the most wonderful weekend at Victoria Barn. What a fantastic rural retreat! Spotlessly clean accommodation and well-kept attractive grounds. Penny was most helpful, welcoming and friendly, am frankly amazed to see any criticism of customer service as we found this to be faultless. Have booked again for next year! Jane Watts.

Disgusting and rude customer service, with a lack of integrity. Beautiful facilities, sub-standard customer service, I do not believe the owners are building a very good reputation for themselves. There seems to be a history building here of unreasonaly behaviour and treatment by the owners. There are plenty of other local facilities available with superior customer service and a friendly atmosphere provided. I would not recommend this establishment for weddings, holiday lettings or use of facilities by locals.

We held our wedding in the Victorian Barn in 2012 and I can honestly say that without their ability to offer accommodation to all of our guests who had travelled from the midlands then we would not have been able to hold our wedding reception in the area! By us having our wedding in the local church and our reception there, we were able to fulfill our every need. Thank you Penny & Claire for all your help.
