If you like history you'll love this hotel. It is very cosy, comfortable — in a good location.
All the furnishings go with the age of the hotel — regency. The rooms are nice too, & the food is good too.

Coming to the end of a five night stay. All in all a very comfortable, pleasant stay. This place is steeped in history. Nothing too much trouble and food good. Revommended.

My mum and dad are staying to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. I rang the hotel to ask if they could arrange to have some flowers put in their room as a surprise. The staff were so friendly and helpful and organised everything for me. They even collected the flowers to save me the collection charge. Thank you so much.

We had a two night stay at The Royal Glen for a large family group and had booked seven rooms. It is in an ideal location, being only a two minute walk to the sea front and five minutes to the main shopping area and restaurants. The hotel is full of character and is steeped in history. The rooms have a faded grandeur and are furnished with old style items of furniture. The beds are fairly comfortable. All rooms were very clean and had modern bathrooms although the water pressure of the showers could be an issue if you have long hair (took me twice as long to rinse out shampoo/conditioner). Most of us made good use of the super indoor swimming pool, water temperature was excellent. Pool towels are provided and there are two changing rooms with showers. There is a great bar lounge and drawing room for guests to use. Breakfasts are ok with a fair choice. The smoked haddock was excellent. Our first evening we ate out at one of the local restaurants. The second evening we ate at the hotel as we had booked dinner/bed&breakfast for that night. This was a big mistake as the food and service can only be described as dreadful. 1. We were given large vinyl covered menus which were then not collected, we decided to gather them up ourselves to get them out of the way and left them on a central table. 2. We were not asked what we wanted to drink, we had to ask the waiters for a drink (sparkling water and 3 bottles of wine).

Had a fantastic 5 day stay, excellent room, food first class and very friendly staff, can't wait to stay again.

Hotel had a lovely old English feel, very clean and well kept. Room was comfortable the bathroom was nice. All staff were very polite and welcoming, breakfast was fantastic very tasty and great service from the staff. They made a fuss of the little one and made sure his food wasn't brought out too hot. Parking was easy, easy access for prams along the side of the hotel. Only a minute or so from the sea front! Not many bad points other than the Wi-Fi wasn't the most reliable and the bed mattress was a little hard.

Fitted us in at last minute… delightful quaint room, fab service and delish food. Ample parking and less than 5 minute walk to the beach, will definitely be back.

A Warm welcome starts a lovely short break in this beautiful hotel. Easy access to the town and seafront, comfortable rooms and scrummy food in the restaurant make for a great time.

Lovely Hotel, lots of interesting History, good food, comfortable rooms, most staff friendly, great swimming pool & gym alongside. Lovely Spanish cleaning lady… Very near to prom & gardens to the right of prom… we will return!

My husband and I spent a couple of nights at The Royal Glen very recently. The service we received was first class. The staff went out of their way to help us. The food was superb. We invited some friends to join us for dinner and they were made very welcome. I even went into the pool for a swim! A hotel to be heartedly recommended.

We only stayed one night and did not need dinner so cannot comment on the food. However after a very long exhausting day to be served drinks and a delicious sandwich on the sofa in front of the TV was wonderful. Very friendly helpful staff. It's a 3 star hotel so don't expect a "wow" bathroom but you will get a spotlessly clean room, snowy white bed linen, soft white towels and plenty of hot water.

There is an old-world feel to the Royal Glen that I enjoyed. Staff to take your bags, silver service at dinner, comfortable lounge, etc. A good chef that knows how to produce high quality food, cooked correctly and reliably. Older rooms are very spacious, but you might prefer more modern rooms for better showers. The price is very reasonable. Would definitely return.

Superb service from all staff from the word go! Lovely restful rooms with plenty of spaces to enjoy peace and quiet as well as opportunities to socialise when inclined. The historical connection with Queen Victoria and the furnishings which create just the right atmosphere of her childhood, maintained not only in the public rooms but the bedrooms as well adds to the enjoyment. This is a very special and unique hotel which compels you to visit again — and again.

The best hotel we have stayed in. Comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff and perfect situation. Food excellent, loved the individually cooked breakfast served by friendly but efficient waiters. Think it would be a lovely place to stay in summer, spring and it certainly was in Autumn. I would like to thank all the staff for a thoroughly relaxing stay.

This was our third visit and we found all the staff as welcoming and friendly as ever. The food was excellent with plenty of variety professionally served in the beautiful dining room. Our room was spacious and comfortable with more than adequate storage space, although slightly more comfortable armchairs would have been appreciated! The lounge provided a very comfortable refuge on a wet morning, with tea and coffee and a good selection of games and books to suit all tastes. The hotel is in a quiet location, the building has an interesting Royal history, and the owners have tastefully made modern improvements including the addition of a swimming pool, all contributing to an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

A comfortable stay in a building full of character staffed by friendly and helpful people; good quality and value for money.
