A great venue, and nicely decorated to provide a relaxed dining experience. The team have the right balance of being attentive but not overly so. There’s a varied menu to cater for all tastes. I like how they will swap traditional fare for the lighter option with a dressed salad. My favourite is their hunters chicken but with salad as it really hits the spot. It’s my favourite local venue.

Excellent food very friendly staff however, did have to wait a long time to be served at the bar. Dogs are allowed in the bar area & I really don't have a problem with this but I do have a problem with owners who let their dogs bark everytime someone walks past it or let's it sit at the table! Management should have had a word with dog owner.

Great service and lovely food. Obviously thing's have changed a lot since some of these reviews were posted on here. Large car park and wheel chair friendly with staff willing to help if you need it. Thoroughly recommend it.

We came for a bite to eat early but got refused food due to a party of 20 arriving an hour later. They never actually turned up whilst we were there. Still not sure how that affected us as we were a party of 2. We asked for a wine and got served the most expensive one on the menu at £3 more than a normal one, when we questioned this we were told the other one had run out (to me you’d explain this to your customer and offer a cheaper version? ) when we questioned it the bar maid talked to her colleague who then loudly said he said what? ’ Toilets were disgusting the one in the ladies was wobbly and didn’t dare try the other one as it was blocked with paper, the men’s was leaking all over the floor. Won’t be going again and that’s a shame as it’s been our half way home bite to eat for a while.

Very nice place indeed. The gf and me enjoy coming here. Today we ate here for the first time as we had spent the day in buckfastleigh. The food was definitely quality over quantity. Thoroughly enjoyed our steak but for the price we paid and the size of the actual plate, I would've expected a bit more. Steak decent size, not enough chips, only one onion ring and a sprinkle of watercress on top of half a tomato.

Brilliant staff and food and really surprised at poor reviews they could not of done anymore for a wonderful two night stay even helped with local things to do. Would highly recommend this place.

We stayed here for two nights. The area and the pub itself are lovely, very quiet considering its next to quite a busy road. The staff were amazing it felt like nothing was too much for them. We felt very welcome and would love to return one day.

The food at this place is very nice and is fairly priced as well staff are very friendly and the atmosphere with in the pub is nice as well child friendly nice place to relax and enjoy a pint or some well cooked food will definitely be coming back.

Took my family here last week as we always wanted to try it. Staff were very friendly and pub quite and nice, plenty of parking. Also put some baby food on the kids menu which is great. But the reason for low stars: I ordered the steak medium/well but came out more medium/rare was pink inside and bleeding slightly. Then later ordered the triple chocolate brownie sundae (I have ordered this in other places) and the brownie stated warm but felt like it had came straight out of the fridge was solid couldn’t use my spoon with it. Portions sizes could have been a bit bigger compared to other places around.

A bit delayed leaving this but we went in half term in May and had the burger deal. They were the best burgers we have had. The staff were all friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we had all we wanted. The Manager came to our table a few times and fully entertained our children A star all round.

It wasn’t the best experience of eating out we started with pate which was lovely then my husband had steak ordered medium rare well it was more rare than anything else waitress came over and I explained it too her she offered to take it back but as we had almost finished we declined the offer I had risotto very plain indeed pudding were ok nothing special I wish I had read the reviews before I went here lovely little pub which could have so much more potential if only they could provide good food.

This is a really convenient spot if you're travelling down the A38 and don't want to stray too far off the main road. That said, it's nice and quiet overnight without disturbance from the road. The room (15) was very well decorated and very cosy with most the things you'd expect of a hotel. Bathroom was very clean and modern. The bar seemed quite busy, but we weren't around to use during the day as we were off to a wedding. Phoned ahead to arrange early check-in and our room was ready on arrival as agreed. The Inn even pre-booked us an onward taxi — very helpful. Breakfast was simple and very good. Continental and cooked, and included in our room rate. All in all, a comfy stay and just what we needed at a good price.

Didn't have the burger we wanted which had been advertised on facebook in the week so one of our party went for the chicken, when it was brought out to him it was frozen in the middle (if the chicken was kept in the freezer why wasnt the burger) We weren't even offered a little discount for the inconvenience of having to wait for the chicken to be remicrowaved, and for potential food poisoning. The Dartbridge Inn has certainly gone downhill and definately will not recommend or visit this place again.

Food was ok but service was absolutely shocking, booked table for half 12 and had to wait until 2pm for our food to arrive before we started eating. The drinks order took half an hour to arrive and when it did nobody took our food order. By 2pm when our food did actually arrive we were all starving so within about 10 minutes we had all finished and were ready to order a dessert, yet again we waited ages for our dessert order to be taken. Our desserts finally arrived between 2:45 and 2:55, 10 minutes between the first 2 coming out and the last 2. Bear in mind we have a 2 and a half year old and her ice lolly was the last thing to be brought out, which as you can imagine she was not amused by! Now I can understand having to wait a while for food if the place was busy but there were no more than 20 of us eating in a pub that can clearly cater for triple that figure, or at least they have enough tables and seating for that many people. But waiting more than half an hour for our desserts, none of which had to be warmed up, takes the piss. When we payed the bill we said we were not happy with their service and all the girl at the till said was that they were very busy, no apology or good will gesture offered. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Great setting just off the A38 at Buckfastleigh 100m towards Totnes. Good value and quality food. Large restaurant area and a small patio area. There are also rooms available ideal place to break a journey or for a longer stay to explore both the south Devon coast and Dartmoor.

Stopped for lunch on our way somewhere else and it was convenient as just off A38. Wished we hadn't bothered. We waited over 35 minutes for our food, and the waitress dropped both plates on the floor, blaming the hot plates. Accidents happen, but then another 25 minutes later our food finally arrived. My wifes risotto bore no resemblance to any risotto I've ever eaten or cooked before. The sea bass was greasy, for "scallops" read one, undercooked scallop cut in half; and for pea and prawn risotto read three tiny shrimp, a lot of peas and the wrong kind of rice. The whole dish was totally underwhelming and bland, despite the copious amount of salt, pepper and lemon juice I used to make it appetizing … epic fail. The rice was long grain, not arborio and was dry. No creamy, unctuous texture and no flavour at all. I had belly pork with "champ", read mashed potato with absolutely no hint of either cabbage or spring onions. Complained and was offered complimentary desserts. So, we've had a crap meal, and you've kept us waiting twice as long as I should have, and you think I want more food from you? When the food finally apeared the same waitresses states ive asked them not to make the plates as hot! So now food served on cold plates when actually all that was required was either trays to serve from or actually plain simple clothes to hold the plates rather than the napkins that were used.

Been coming here for the last 6 years. Relaxed atmosphere good food and lovely accommodation. An ideal base for visiting the surrounding areas.

My husband and I were travelling from Plymouth to Weston super mare and decided to stop at Dartbridge Inn for our evening meal. The welcome we received was very amiable and service was very good too. The menu was extensive and the meals were delicious. The restaurant itself has a very good ambience.

Fab food and great price. MUCH improved to a previous visit 18 months ago. Whatever you guys are doing it's great. Keep up the good work!

Had a very relaxing lunch, with good food. Menu and is extensive, and the staff are professional and attentive. Nice big open fire by the bar with a large restaurant section. Situated just off the A38, right on the door step for Dartmoor and Buckfastly.

Stayed for 4nights with breakfast included friendly staff and Sam the manager was on duty every night making sure every guest was happy. Great place to stay if u want to see the Downs or a visit to the Eden project.

We popped in for a quick drink on route to Cornwall. Had a lovely atmosphere in there, easy access off the motorway. We didn't have time to stop for a meal but prices seemed reasonable.

Very nice pub/ restaurant inside. Good waiter. However the food took 45 minutes to come out to the table and the majority of the food was either dry or cold. Had an area chef in covering their usual chef and the waiter even said he wasn't very good.

Wonderful food. Possibly the most amazing barman since Tom Cruise in Cocktail… Great space (inside and out) but the restaurant staff not brilliant and were completely uninterested in our existence. I'd still say go for the food… Just don't expect a smile with your lunch!

Great pub with a nice atmosphere and good food. We were served by James who was very attentive and made our evening even more enjoyable. Would recommend for a family night out, we even brought our dog.

Very friendly staff, lovely well cooked English breakfast and the duvet/pillows were the cleanest I've ever seen in a hotel. In the past I've complained about unclean bedding in hotels. The hotel is ideal for dogs too. There is, however, traffic noise but this might improve if windows closed properly. We would definitely visit again. Oh! it has had a re-furb, shame they didnt install a more upmarket loo seat, cheap plastic it would stay up.

Hard to get to without a car, noisy outside cars going by, no heating on or heated towel rail so towels are damp, broken taps on bathroom sink, water doesn't get too hot and problems in kitchen so didn't get Sunday Roast and dressing for salad too strong and pot overfilled so hard to put it on salad. Glad no cucumbers and tomatoes! At least they had the lovely Luscombe Elderflower because they don't at Cedars Inn Sticklepath.

Made a flying visit here on our way back home. No complaints. Sunday roasts were tasty. Decor pleasant. Would go back.

Just a quick meal after we had been out all day, jacket spud and a chilli, all very good and tasty, lots of parking and outside space, clean, Beer and cider is just standard but this is not a drinking hole Oh yer Dog friendly woohoo.

Food wasn't great, service was slow. Good value for money and will probably visit again, but wouldn't get the Sunday roast. I have visited again since. Food was brilliant and service was quick, so rating changed ☺

Part of the Old English Inns group, so reliable, tasty if unexciting food. In an excellent spot for touring the area and out onto Dartmoor. OE Inns are always good value for money.

Excellent food and service at very good value. As regular customers our only gripe is the difficulty in booking. We can rarely get an answer by telephone. Yesterday we booked online and had a confirmation reply but when we arrived this evening the staff admitted that they hadn't checked the online bookings so we weren't expected. It wasn't a problem as there was plenty of room but I think thought needs to be given to reviewing your system.

My partner and I stopped in last night to have a meal. We chose the 'ultimate fish platter' or something with a similar name. The description in the menu sounded yummy, what turned up on our table was anything but yummy. The whole meal was very overcooked, the breaded prawns were so hard we could not pierce them with our forks, nor would our knives dent them. The breaded scampi was of similar toughness and were very 'fishy' in a not pleasant way. The scallop was battered and deep fried to a dark oily walnut and the plaice was skin on and battered and deep fried to a dark oily mess and tasted foul. If you're going to leave skin on plaice it needs to be grilled or pan fried to a crispy seasoned finish, you do not leave it as a soggy mess covered in inedible rock hard batter, it tastes awful. We paid £26 for the meal alone, which seemed reasonable, until you saw the mess that arrived. The staff were friendly enough when you had their attention, but we felt a bit forgotten as our waiter seemed to disappear for most of the time we were there. Will we go back? Nope, no, never.

I chose this place as they had vegan options on the menu. My food, quinoa burger, was very nice. However my meat eating family were not so impressed. Presentation was lacking and their plates were so huge that it made the portions look tiny. The roast did look a little small and lacking. Beef was a bit tough apparently and we had to prompt them for the side veg dish. Service was quite slow even though they were very quiet. We were given dirty desert spoons and had to ask for teaspoons for our coffee. The decor is lovely and maybe this was an off day. I think some staff training/customer skills and confidence building for some of the younger staff would be beneficial.

We popped in with a whole bunch of kids, on the recommendation of a friend. It was a perfectly lovely pub with lovely staff, all of whom made us feel welcome, despite the chaos that we brought with us.

We were very well received by Daniel who waited late and was always very helpful and friendly. The dinner staff very friendly and quick to serve dinner. The steaks were good and the brownie is recommended. The room where we stayed was what we expected, clean and comfortable.

Food is good however twice now over an hour wait with children and no advice on waiting times.

I can't believe some of the reviews. I have always found them very friendly and helpful with the food good quality for a reasonable price. It's exactly what it says. An "Inn", an old pub with food, creaky floorboards and some character. The breakfast is great too. Tricky entrance to the car park right on a corner. Once, I left my international adapter in the room and they mailed it to me free of charge, no questions asked. I have mostly stayed there visiting relatives in Devon in the winter and enjoyed lunch with them and a drink afterwards by the open fire without breaking the bank. I am going back there this summer if there is room as it is a late trip to the UK.

Most disgraceful rude service ever experienced, poor does not even come onto the board. Did she get out of bed wrong side or is that the type of service your staff feel people deserve. i would never recommend here. food was ok ish not of value for 9.95 a head. Service is totally disgraceful. Was a group of 13.

Enjoyed our stay and would go back.

Very average pub food but good enough for the price paid. We went there midweek for a 90th Birthday Party and it was half full. Very few staff; those we met were friendly enough but were very very slow and clueless. Nobody seemed to be in charge. Would not go back unless there was a change of management. Come on Greene King.

Went in for a drink and possible meal on 31/08/10. Only stayed for QUICK! drink, Which took nearly 20 mins to be served. There was nobody at the bar at the time, the barperson apparently running between the bookings and the kitchen, it wasnt what one could call busy, few tables occupied. Give this one a miss unless you have lots of time to spare.

We visited the Dartbridge Inn over the weekend and although they were clearly advertising 'Kid's eat free with every adult meal' this was clearly not the case when paying the bill, we were told that it was on a selected few choice meals that ideally included chips! in order to maintain profit margins. Our meals once ordered took a considerable amount of time (50 minutes) to arrive and by then the children were some what agitated and so were we. We had not been made aware of any time delay during this time even when we approached the staff. When our meals did arrive we found a human hair in one of them. We decided enough was enough and asked to speak to the manager who was somewhat reluctant to come to our table we remained persistent and 'John' eventually made an appearance. We were told by John that if we had expected faster service that it would be advisable to book on a Monday! Needless to say although very local to us we will not be returning.
