The bizarre, tacky, movie themed hotel was a big let down. Very dated and not the cleanest, especially the bathroom with its leaky toilet. No drinking water or glasses provided. Wouldnt have eaten breakfast if offered! The welcome was non-existant, only interested in getting paid. Lift out of order and metal props visible going up the stairs. Not sure how safe this hotel really is. Come on chaps, its not rocket science. Clean up and get painting! The only good thing about this place was the location.

Oh man, what to say about this place? It's in a great location, the rooms are inexpensive, and every room seems to be decorated with multiple pictures of a celebrity… We had 7 pictures of Cameron Diaz, some of which looked as though they might have been cut out of a magazine. The rooms are not especially clean, but they are of a decent size, and we were able to open the window to let a bit of mustiness out and the night air in. You can access late-night bars, takeaways and shops by cutting through the park, which is both a pleasant walk and dark enough in spots to make you think you're about to walk into a bin. The hotel has a lot of entertaining and amusing history, worth checking out after you've got over the strange decor. I'd never used the toilet while Cameron Diaz looked on approvingly before. Now, thanks to the Buckingham, I'll never go without. For a bonus, see if you can find the room on the ground floor where Margaret Thatcher is permanently looking across at Mr A Hitler himself. I had a fantastic time, and I'd definitely stay here again.

Ignore the negative feedback what do you want for £62.50/night? Our room is clean and tidy? Maybe not suitable for disabled or people who cannot do stairs as haven’t spotted a lift yet? Staff friendly and free parking and great location.

Small friendly hotel, decor a little tired, close to Buxton town, just a short walk away, overall a pleasant stay.

Why can't you give half stars? Very dated room and building in general, through lack of to no maintenance at all. Seems like the owners are probably just milking every penny untill the are forced to close and sell… Give this one a miss!

Awful, don't do it, just don't. Fawlty towers is 1000 % better. Like stepping back in time. No work on it in 50 years at least.

You can stay one night. But the situation is a snooty.

Fine hotel bit dated and bathroom wasn't the cleanest but otherwise okay!

Good central location, no issues with parking, lovely atmosphere, staff were polite and accommodating.

Room clean. Bed comfortable. Bathroom also good. Near spa, gardens, opera house and other entertainments.

Spacious suite for the price, could do with a little tlc but want disappointed, don't go expecting the ritz. Stayed in what can only be described as the Jodie Foster room.

Lovely quirky budget hotel in an excellent location.

OMG! I ve never slept in a more spooky, smelly premises! Creepy and ghastly deco, run down, out of time, dolls in the showcase taken from "the curse of chunky" or the " dead silence". Only 1 night left my children traumatized for good.

Location was perfect for the hotel. Next to the opera house. Close to restaurants in Buxton and different tourist spots. Rooms were very cozy and good as well.

Called up to inquire about availability and cost for a weekend and got a very moody answer. Had to draw some figures out of the man on reception, and then get told that I couldn't just book over the phone but they had to see whether they were able to release the rooms for that date. Then, on feeling it was too complicated I said not to bother and got told to f*** off. Seemed my initial gut reaction was correct, should have saved myself the phone call.

Bit wacky and diverse but overall very good enjoyed the food and bar atmosphere was great.
