I stayed at MIlton House for two nights when coming to the Dales for a solo walking trip. It was an excellent experience on every level. Jo is a perfect host with great communication skills — she was in touch before I arrived and there was an option of receiving a key code if I arrived late. As it happened, I arrived within the 4-6pm check-in period and Jo showed me to the room which I had booked. I booked the double room which is available on a room only basis and that suited very well as I don't have much breakfast anyway. One of the highlights for me was that there was a small fridge in the room with milk, yoghurts and fruit juice. As someone who loves tea but detests UHT milk, this was a treat. Although booked as a room without breakfast, Jo left a hospitality tray with cereal, croissants and jam which was very welcome. The bed was extremely comfortable as it has a special mattress which made a huge difference. The shower was over the bath so I had the best of both worlds, which was perfect after walking in that very hot spell we've had. Everything was immaculately clean. Parking very convenient in a small car park virtually adjoining the property (there is also private parking even nearer) and the property is perfectly placed in Askrigg where there are a range of eating options at night. Jo was very helpful with suggestions of where to eat and other tips. I would highly recommend this property — one of the best I've stayed in.

Askrigg is a perfect place to explore Dales, and is wonderfully quiet. Our stay at Milton House was perfect, and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for the comfort of home, away from home. Jo runs a wonderful establishment and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The king-size bed was fantastic to sleep on, and the 'self-prepare' breakfast was a great way to start each day. Mill Gill (waterfall) is only a relatively short walk away and is worth a visit — such a good way to take in the country-side. The nearest pub is just across the street so you can visit the nearby, busy tourist towns, castle and waterfall and then park the car and enjoy some quiet village time.

We stayed in the upstairs apartment. Jo was a friendly hostess.
The apartment was well furnished, the bed was really comfy. Apartment consists of a decent sized kitchen/dining room, a large double bedroom with a small en suite bathroom.
Jo provided a welcome breakfast hamper, which was a nice touch. The bacon and sausages were excellent. Fresh bread too. Everything you need to cook your own food is in the kitchen. Air fryer, microwave, fridge freezer, coffee machine, kettle.
We really enjoyed our stay at Milton House. Thank you Jo :-)

Hadn't stayed with Bernie and Jo for some time and not since the upgrade to studio apartments. We had a really nice stay. The breakfast pack was excellent and provided everything you need and really good quality. The studio apartment was spotless, as usual. Bernie and Jo are brill and nothing too much trouble. We really should have booked for longer and will definitely be back to stay again. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Lovely comfortable room with a hillside view. Every effort made to keep everything safe with Covid. Good choices for home cooked breakfast. Friendly owner and would use again if in the area.

We were made so welcome, our room was beautiful and the little homemade treats were a wonderful touch. The breakfasts were amazing, and kept us full all day! We will be back again.

Had a lovely time in Yorkshire despite the wet weather. It was nice to go back to a lovely room. Breakfast was fab and lots of it! Nice touches in room such as toiletries, flapjack, wine glasses and being provided with fresh milk in cooling flasks. Thank you Bernie and Jo. We hope to be back soon.

I suppose that somewhere in the UK there is a better B&B than Milton House, but life's too short to go looking for the impossible.

A great place to stay. A lovely weekend for a family gathering in Askrigg. So pleased with our choice at Milton House Band B. A real Yorkshire welcome with a hearty breakfast and a very comfortable room. We would highly recommend Milton House and will certainly return. Please can we order sunshine next time.

Very highly recommended. This is exactly what B&B is all about. I have already booked to come back. This is a lovingly looked after home that was a pleasure to spend a few days in. The owners, Jo and Bernie are delightful, friendly and welcomong and genuinely interested in the people that stay with them. My room was decorated and equiped to a very high standard and kept spotlessly clean. It included coffee, Yorkshire Tea and a selection of speciality teas and hot chocolate making facilities plus home made biscuits. An ensuite bathroom included a bath with overhead power shower. Endless hot water, fresh towels and a selection of complimentary bathroom treats. Extremely comfortable double bed with plenty of pillows and cushions. The room was very quiet. The options for breakfast were exceptional including a selection of cereals, muesli and dried fruit to sprinkle, a range of fresh fruits and porridge and a huge choice of items to choose from to make up the most incredibly delicious cooked breakfast I have ever tasted! (see picture). Askrigg is a beautiful village providing an excellent base for walking or driving from. There are three pubs all selling good ales and food. There is a limited bus service (The Little White Bus Company) that gets you to key villages along the Dale where you can walk from or connect to other bus routes.

Bernie and Jo couldn't have been better hosts. Clean, homely and delicious breakfast. Cannot recommend enough :)

Superb place to stay with lots of wonderful walks in the vicinity. Fabulous breakfasts and a pub just across the road. Who could ask for more!

Jo and Bernie were fantastic to us. The rooms are nice and the whole town is just so pittoresque and friendly. We woke up to the smell of freshly baked crossaints every morning. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

Good food, fantastic hosts, great views and 200 yds from CROWN INN serving good honest food, both places very well priced.
