My husband & I had a fantastic weekend stopping at oak bank in Bowness-on-Windermere! The staff make you feel so welcome, the breakfasts are lovely & set you up for the day! The rooms are amazing (especially room 9), the views are fabulous. Highly recommend, great location. We will certainly be going back again!

An excellent place to spend a few unforgettable days and disconnect from the city. Excellent treatment, comfort and an incomparable setting of beauties. 100% Recommended!

Friendly staff and nice and clean rooms. Sleeping in a double bed for 2 can sometimes be a struggle and the small sized TV planted about 2 metres from the bed. All in all we had an incredible stay the hotel was in the perfect location for everything. We would definitly come back again.

Beautifull rooms and so clean and comfortable. Great hosts, great chef and the girls who work here are the BEST, Paula, Mammy and Lyn you made us feel welcome and at home. Team supreme and we will be back … huge THANKS for a great short break xxx.

Breakfast was nice, had a room which didn't have an en suite so had to cross the hall to our "private bathroom" which doubles as a fire escape for our floor. The door leads to 4 very steep stairs with a very weak shower and had to duck to get to the toilet as there is a large beam in the way. After using the toilet and turning round to wash your hands it is extremely easy to hit your head on said beam. Bed was uncomfortable and the pillows reeked of head sweat. The room got very cold through the night as the window did not seal properly, the temporary foam put in place to help solve this was also falling apart.

Beutifull place owner and staff very helpfull friendly the waffles are to die for.

Stay her this weekend and over all yaw ok the parking was fine and I have a big jeep.

Great hotel, rooms are good sized with private bathrooms and well furnished. Hot breakfast meals are free with a good variety available Parking is difficult especially if you have a big car! Great location to stay if you wish to explore the lake district!

Having been in the business we know only to well how difficult it can be to please everyone even some of the time so, knowing we had booked a 5 star bnb was confident in our choice and looking forward to our break. Positives: perfect location, our room was comfortable and clean, reasonable choice for breakfast, well cooked. Negatives: parking is a real problem despite claiming to have ample space for up to 14 cars if you don't mind the risk of being blocked in or blocking someone else in and that's if you can get your car into the space via a car width path at side of building, in reality there is only sufficient for 7, perhaps 14 smart cars but a struggle with today's standard size vehicles, don't need this when on holiday, I wouldn't have booked if he had been honest about parking. Limited use of internet don't go over 1gig or your be charged that's not very friendly. Staff never made conversation which is key with a bnb, choice of toiletries definitely not 5 star standard. I really expected a lot more from a 5 star especially for the price, we stayed in a four star recently that offered so much more. Very disappointed.

We had such a fab time. Lovely rooms, lovely staff and best of all the views absolutely fantastic. We stayed at the front of the guest house away from the lake view but cannot complain just fantastic views.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, room was nice and a great breakfast in morning.

Old-fashioned, but spacious.

Avoid — Avoid — Avoid. This guest house is run for the convenience of the owner and not guests. Checked out 1 day early and glad to leave. When checking out the owner asked if everything was satisfactory. I said no and started to inform him of the concerns below. I got to the first 2 of the 7 below when he became aggressive, loud and argumentative. He said that if he allowed more Wi-Fi time he would have to pay me to stay in the house. He informed me that NO HOTEL IN THE WORLD offered unlimited Wi-Fi. I advised him of 4 off the top of my head to alleviate his ignorance. Wifi a joke. Allowed for 1hr 10 mins (we timed it) for catchup tv. After that switched off and sent to bed like a naughty child without use of Wi-Fi. Inadequate parking. Park double either blocked in or blocking others. Room to small, bed to small, TV too small and wallpaper pattern hung upside down Breakfast to early and to limited a window for leisure travelers and to early on Sundays. Hot shower was a dribble. Shower tray edge and grout had black mould Dirty socks from previous occupant on floor of clothes cupboard. Had to lift mirror of wall to use in the area of hair dryer and then rehang after use.

Lovely place. Our room was fantastic with a great lake view. The staff were really hellful and friendly. We will definitely be going back.

A lovely Bed and Breakfast in Windermere. I have stayed at OakBank House Hotel on several occasions. The location, views and service is definitely the best in the area and is affordable for everyone. The owner is always extremely friendly and approachable and has a good knowledge of the area (where to eat etc. ). I have been lucky enough to stay in the superior rooms at OakBank house and the rooms are very spacious and luxurious (newly refurbished I believe). The rooms have a lovely view of Lake Windermere and the surrounding area of Bowness-on-Windermere. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

We have stayed at the oakbank house hotel and I have to say it was really comfortable, the breakfast was really nice, and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely stay there again.

This place could probably be considered at very best traditional. However, it feels dated, with tired decor, warn carpets and furniture just about holding together. Breakfast was reasonable however we where told that changes to the 'Oakbank breakfast' was not possible as it was so busy on the weekend we visited. Parking was a pain — the few spaces left where incredibly tight. Trying to get out in the morning was emotional (parking sensors would have helped out). For the price there is certainly better value to be had in the local area, well worth shopping about. Please don't do what we did and figure 5 stars would be a good place, it seems not to count for too much these days — shame.
