Well all I can say is knocking 10 quid off my bill is not a matter of life or death just like not having Wi-Fi isnt Deborah! I have never met anyone as arrogant, ill mannered and ill tempered as the so called manageress of this place! I wonder if the owners are aware of how good her customer service skills are… not! Had to contact her three times for Wi-Fi code after no joy using the codes which were apparently left for us near the mirror on the second floor landing but we're not! Climbed 3 flights of stairs twice to get a code that did not work. Rang the only number we had which apparently was to her — only to be told it was only a Wifi if it wasn't working (which apparently never happen) it wasn't the end if the world! Well how about the fact that you are advertising your rooms as having Wi-Fi, if it's not working (which it wasn't apparently) as they needed to reset the router — I pay you less for your room! I am going to show you this review tomorrow morning hopefully it will teach you a valuable lesson in customer care!

We arrived at Monties guest house on Friday 25th May at 4.10 pm. There was no one on reception but had a sign on the window saying if there was no one on reception try Monties cafe next door. We tried the cafe next door but there was no one there also. After waiting in a doorway for 10 minutes we noticed that there was a number to ring, which we rang. While waiting for another 10 minutes a lady guest came out and we asked her what the rooms were like and she said they were ok but on arrival she was just given a key and had to find her own room. After 20 mins of waiting a young lad turned up to let us in, he gave us a room key and went to go. I then in formed that we had booked 2 rooms so he then went and got another key and told my cousin and myself our room upstairs, he then left. On arrival in our room we noticed there was no on suite shower so went down the corridor to find the shower room, we found that the bedroom door would shut behind you and lock you out, so you either needed to take the room key with every time you wanted to use the bathroom or leave a shoe wedged in the door. When it came to get a shower it was either boiling hot or freezing cold. My final shower on Sunday morning I had to put a sponge underneath the shower and wash myself outside the shower and then do the same to rinse the soap off. I have never been in a hotel or guest house before were the showers were so bad.

Shower was the worst I have experienced at any hotel. Complained but was told there was nothing wrong with the shower, bit of a joke, beware.

Nice little Guest House close to all amenities Staff were pleasant and helpful Breakfast very tasty not running in grease. Also only a short walk to the boats.

Rooms and beds were fantastic. Very warm cosy homly feel to them. The only let down I had staying in rooms 3 is that the electric shower didn't get hot at all luckily my friend was in another room so I used his. All in all would defiantly stay again.

Lovely clean room. Staff polite and friendly. Would stay again.

Little bit overpriced cleanliness could do with a bit of attention and updating the bed… very noisy from the pub next door till early hours.

Great value but even better service. Right in the centre of Bowness is a bonus.

Popped in for some lunch, friendly service and delicious cream teas.

Had lunch there twice while we stayed in Bowness. Lovely food and nice little atmosphere inside. They don't rush of mither you either which is great. Highly recommended for a cosy lunch :-)

Superb location, sadly let down by noise from the street due to the windows not being double pane insulated. Such a shame but you could hear everything from the street when truing to sleep. The shower was poor, alternating hot and cold with only a trickle of water (this was the private shower). Little things like the kettle lead not long enough to plug in so had to be plugged in from off the floor. Only one bedside table, so again having to reach down to the floor off the bed for my drink etc. In the morning, we popped for breakfast downstairs in the cafe. We had to wait slightly longer due to our breakfast being handed to a different table. They were apologetic so we couldn't complain. Could be better if the shower was improved, bedside tables either side of the bed, longer kettle lead and better sound insulation.

We walked down for breakfast from Oakthwaite Lodge (Monties other location), breakfast was reasonable and the cafe is well situated.

Lovely cosy cafe. Nice cream tea and pleasant staff.

Be aware that the room were cold in the winter! I have to use their hair dryer, …

Nice clean friendly b&b great for a couple of days away, good food, the the heart off the town 2 minutes from the lake.

Everything about this Cafe is excellent from the food, the coffee and especially the staff. Great customer service — Just Brilliant.

Worst café ever! Went with my wife and 6 year old daughter and asked for a babyccino, which I thought was universal for warm milk with sprinkled chocolate on top. When it arrived it was a small cappuccino! Who gives coffee to a child? When I complained the unfriendly woman said, you should have asked for hot milk! When it came back the milk was SCALDING hot. Did not feel welcomed at all here and took our drinks out.

Nice little trendy cafe in Bowness, offering delicious afternoon tea and scones. Mixed feeling on staff, one lady was nice and friendly, the other man however not so much, threw our menus on the table and walked off, perhaps the rain had got to him that day!

Monties cafe is my favourite in Bowness. The place has been recently renovated and is very cool. The food is really good.

Our first time at Monties was quite bad, Booked superior room for the comfortable for me and my girlfriend, what we get is smallest room in the hotel, discount given upon departure but that should not happen if the hotel is more organized. 2 stars given for one of the staff, she was really nice, very welcome and polite but I forgot her name. Be aware for free parking advertising, if you lucky enough you will get one.

Monties Guest House is located in an excellent location. The facilities are moderate and average. Their breakfast served included in your stay is average too. But the lady who runs that place is courteous, friendly and offers you good rate. The waitresses offer great service with cute smiles all the time. So I still recommend this place to everyone to try atleast once.
