We have just come from staying here today I would recommend this hotel it's very clean breakfast is lovely and the staff are amazing nothing is any bother.

Beautiful room lovely warm welcome from. A nice man. Covid regulations followed strictly, Great breakfast lovely place.

We had our first stay here this week. We enjoyed it so much we've already booked our second trip! Andrew and the whole team are lovely and so helpful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean. With all the restrictions and guidance in place for covid-19 I was unsure what to expect and thought it may feel a little impersonal and like we weren't getting the full experience. I couldnt have been more wrong! Exceptional levels of cleanliness but still with the very personal touches. Excellent communication before and after our stay. We cannot wait to come back! Andrew is a fantastic host.

Stayed a couple of times with our dogs, lovely staff, cosy hotel, great location and the dogs got their own mini breakfast!

Back from spending 1 night here. Staff were so nice and welcoming, breakfast was lovely, room was great. I will definitely be recommending this hotel in the future and will hopefully be back for another visit in the future.

Just come back from a four night stay, beautiful building with lots of history. Amazing breakfast and the most amazing, attentive staff fabulous chats with both Andrew and Jesus cannot express how lovely the whole experience was. Would highly recommend and will be returning thank you for such a wonderful break.

My family and I travelled to the Lakes District from Australia and found this wonderful place to stay for a week. The staff were courteous, polite and very friendly without being intrusive. The rooms are lovely and breakfast is certainly the best. We would definitely recommend Lonsdale House to friends and family.

We stayed for one night breaking up our journey to Scotland, staff friendly breakfast lovely, unfortunately the area had a power cut, no fault of the hotels but it meant we could not use electric for kettle, hairdryer etc in the morning, no toast for breakfast, dark bathroom for showering, the front bedrooms were noisey and the bed in room 3 was awful to get in and out as it was high with a wooden frame around the mattress, not an ideal bed for comfort, bed made the room look tiny, plus shower cubical also tiny, could not move to wash, but as said that had nothing to do with the good service provided, they offered discount for our stay.

We spent one night at lonsdale House this weekend and can honestly say that one night wasn't enough! I can't thank Andrew and he's team enough, each and every member of staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us! Even when it came to checking out and a car was parked very close to ours making it difficult to get out, not wanting to risk damage to anyone else's car we asked if the car could be moved but a member of your team was quick to our assistance and got our car out without any problems! We will definitely be staying again, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Really enjoyed our stay here the hotel is really nice just our style and it has parking which is always a bonus in bowness. The facilities are good with its own licensed bar and very close to shops and restaurants. I have stayed here twice now and both rooms have been great with complimentary sherry on arrival, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The cooked Cumberland breakfast was really nice and all seemed to be good quality ingredients.

We love this place so much, there are so many places to stay but we keep coming back again and again. Everything is perfect. We normally stay in room 1 or 7 or 10 and love them all. The breakfast is big, tasty and not greasy at all plus with lots to choose from. Back again 2 weeks. Thank you Andrew, who goes over and beyond to make our stay just as special as ever, along with his staff who are very welcoming and friendly. Chris, Heidi and kids‍‍‍

I haven’t been too the Lake District since I was a young boy so returning after 8 years was great, for my girlfriends birthday we spent a night at Lonsdale house. We stayed in room 9 which is right at the top of the house, the room holds a beautiful view of lake Windermere as well as that it had been snowing during the time of our stay so the views were to die for, room very clean and everything in the room was easy to locate, room size in general very good. Staff members are lovely and will go out of their way to help you with anything. Beds are very comfortable so you’ll have no trouble sleeping, our room wasn’t disturbed by any noise off the main road which has been mentioned in other reviews but it didn’t bother either of us personally, we got a good rest. Everything you need like a corner shop or a restaurant is within a few minutes walk. The lakes it’s self is about 5 minutes walk. The breakfast was very very good, no greasy just a traditional Cumbrian breakfast, personally I would recommended Lonsdale house to anyone thinking about spending a few nights in Windermere, absolutely loved our stay and hopefully will stay again sometime in the future!

We had a fab stay here the first weekend of December for my husbands birthday. A lovely clean room, fantastic breakfast and wonderful staff. Can’t rate this place enough and would definitely stay here again.

We love it here. We’ve visited three years in a row and wouldn’t go anywhere else in Bowness in Windermere. Really lovely, friendly staff, a warm, cosy bar area and so close to the nice, quaint little town centre and all of its pubs, cafes and restaurants. A real gem of a place xx.

Great location. Free parking. Good sized bedroom and of a lovely standard. Really enjoyed our time here and would definitely return. Staff very friendly. Grest with dogs too.

First class hotel great service top class english breakfast.

Lovely location at bowness which is a walk away from the port. You could also have a short drive or walk (though a little far) to windermere for scones and dinner.

Great hospitality, small car park but was enough space. 5-10 minute walk from centre of bowness and lake Windermere and short drives from many other locations.

We just back from celebrating my birthday in this lovely guest house. My husband had organised bubbly and chocolates that were there presented lovely in our room chilling for our arrival. Totally dog friendly by that I mean you don't feel awkward at all having your four legged companions with you as they are accepted totally and anything that can be done, like setting up a breakfast table up in the lounge so that we could have breakfast with our dogs there with us and even extra sausages specially cooked and brought to the table for our dogs. The location is perfect for the Lake, restaurants and shops.

We have just returned home from a 4 night stay at the Lonsdale hotel. Where we stayed in room 7 which was everything we hoped for. And the staff at the hotel were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble to make our stay so enjoyable the breakfast was served and tasted lovely. We will definitely be going again Pam and Kevin and fudge the dog.

Pros — Friendly staff, scenic location, easy to find and close to lake Windermere. Cons — Breakfast timings are a problem as they only serve between 0830-0930 daily. There is no lobby and the dining area is extremely cramped.

Extremely well kept, excellent and helpful staff who care. We had a beautiful and peaceful time here and felt recharged and relaxed the next day. We will be coming again. Thank you.

1st time to lake district for 1 year anniversary! Absolute amazing place, location of hotel is perfect, staff were incredible and couldnt help enough, got there to be given a choice of room, room was outstanding, breakfast was amazing all free range and more than enuff, waiters and staff were so friendly, Andrew who was there for arrival was such a perfect host and could not have done more, will only stay here and will get family to use lonsdale house! 5 stars is not enuff! Book here! Its a must.

Stayed here a few times now. It's near all amenities that you want on a short stay in the lakes. Owner Andrew can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable and all staff are very pleasant. Breakfast are good too sets you up for the day. I'm back in Feb and July 2017 can't wait.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable; the staff was very attentive to the needs of the visitors; and the breakfast was fantastic! Really epitomised the English culture of Bed and Breakfast, to a much higher level of professionalism and care! My family and I loved our stay there. And yes, excellent location within walking distance to everything one would expect at the Lake District.

The owner is incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly. It's a charming place in a good location. The rooms are nice and the breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here. It is a very feel-good place ☺

The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast is good and you get as much top up as you like. Location is also good, 10 minutes walk to the Windermere lake shore and close walk to the city centre. I stayed in the family room which had a double bed and single and looked out over the back of the hotel away from the main street, so nice and quiet and decent view of the lake.

Fantastic place to stay — very nice, clean, good looking room, with a small carafe of liqueur for a nice evening ;) Staff were extremely friendly for us, our child and dog! Tasty breakfast was a good start to the day. I can recommend!

A well located and beautifully run hotel with parking and a licensed bar. The owner and staff are all very friendly and efficient, the food was very good and the room was very clean and pleasant. If you don't fancy a day on the fells there are lake cruises, shops pubs, restaurants and a period cinema within a five minute walk, We wanted to try a fish pedicure but as we came in March it is only open on weekends, so we'll just have to come back in May.

We had room 5 which is a family room, during the first night there was a noise from the water pipes which kept us awake all night and we have a 3 year old too. The bedding was dirty, the valances were full of dust and the carpet hadn't been hoovered properly. We were supposed to have a view of the lake and all we could see was trees. You get charged more because you are supposed to be able to see the lake! We reported the noise the next day and felt as if they thought we were lying, even thought the people in the room above us had heard the same noise. The parking was inadequate when the hotel was busy which could actually mean you are blocked in by someone parking in front of you. It is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but they only provide breakfast like a B&B which I found very strange. Apart from the Manager who was English, the other staff were foreign who could speak limited amounts of English. This hotel doesn't deserve to be 4 star and definitely needs improvement in many areas. The charges are over the top for what you get, as it's nothing more than a B&B masquerading as a substandard "Hotel".
