It was a wonderful experience of stay on our first night in Lake District. The owner is friendly and gave us good suggestions on our visit route. The rooms are clean and facilities are good.
Me and my partner Juno had a lovely pit stop on our way home from The Highlands, Philip the proprietor of the cottage was a true gentleman helping us with our luggage, he was very friendly showing us to our room and even offered to light wood burner for us!

The name of the bus stop next to the property is 'Dunmail Raise North'. If the bus driver does not know the name of this stop, it is next to the old AA box on the top of Dunmail Raise.
Directions arriving from the South:
Depart the M6 motorway at junction 36 and join the A590 towards Windermere. From here it is about a 48.3 km drive through the South Lakes. Stay on the A591 and pass Kendal before driving through Windemere, Ambleside and Grasmere. Stay on the A591, pass the Swan hotel, Raise Cottage is situated approximately 3.2 km past Grasmere and a kilometer and a half past the Traveller’s Rest pub on the summit of Dunmail Raise. Park in the lay-by on the right hand side of the road.
Directions arriving from the North:
Depart the M6 motorway at junction 40 and drive West on the A66 until reaching Threlkeld. Turn off onto Station Road / B5322. Join the A591 and pass the King’s Head Hotel, continue for 4 and a half miles enjoying the view of Thilmere Reservoir, Raise Cottage can be found on the left shortly after the dual carriageway. Lookout for the AA box and park in the lay-by on the left hand side of the road.

I've been to Raise Cottage for three nights this week with my wife. The rooms are really confortable, clean and warm. And laste but not least the owner Philip Is a wonderful man always there for help and advises. If I have a chance I will with no doubt go back to Raise Cottage.
