We booked a Christmas meal last night for a group of friends — an absolutely brilliant night — we had an upstairs room, the food was brilliant and the staff & service really very good — nothing was too much trouble x would highly recommend this venue and the friendly professional staff — well done.

Have visited this pub for years to eat and booked lunch for myself, my partner and his parents. Online the afternoon menu lists the prices as £8.95 for one course, £10.95 for two and 12.95 for 3 courses. The menu was limited (understandably after being closed for COVID-19) but no sandwiches or small options available on the limited menu and the bill came to almost £70 for one main course each, 2 soft drinks, one beer and one pot of tea. I understand businesses trying to build money back up but when customers have been on reduced hours/pay also, this was a pretty large increase in prices that should have been reflected on the website menus which entice people to book. Will go elsewhere in future.

This was our second visit! The hotel is very popular with locals. If you like a traditional hotel/pub offering great value for money — this is it. The food was excellent and the staff are warm and friendly. Ideally situated for walking around the village…

Went in Sunday I never really leave feedback never have time but the food staff service well what can I say you all smashed it was beautiful, told my clients to to go in they were quick efficient it was nice to go somewhere who serves with a, friendly face and Manor so we'll done we will be back

My husband, myself and friends of ours were fortunate enough to spend a week at the Royal Oak. We were in Great Ayton for a wedding and visiting old friends. Our rooms were wonderful and fully updated, meals were absolutely wonderful, breakfast was about anything we wanted and prepared beautifully. We can't say enough about the entire staff… all of the owners, John who checked us in, Michele (I think that was her name) who served us on more than one occasion, Enid and Jackie (who helped me make a hair appointment). Everyone was so friendly, helpful and really made us feel like this was our "home away from home". Will definitely stay again if (when) we get back to Great Ayton! My only regret is that I didn't take a picture of my fish and chips meal or the giant Yorkshire pudding filled with the roast beef! Guess it looked so good when they brought it, I totally forgot about taking a picture! Well done, Royal Oak, well done!

Spontaneous visit with our Son and his Girlfriend who were camping nearby, our other Son came out for the meal too. We all had something different and it was excellent. The beer was superb as well and service was friendly. Highly recommended for a fairly relaxed and comfortable experience.

Friendly terrific service, lovely staff and the food was gorgeous, children's meals were excellent and a great sized portion and the parmo was delicious.

I love this place — good is great, staff are excellent, good atmosphere, would rest it 10 /5 if I could.

I first visited this pub in 2016 when I wrote: "The landlord and the staff were both helpful and friendly. The food was first class, as was the service. I would certainly recommend this pub and I will certainly go again when I am in the area. " Since I wrote that, I have returned several times over the past two years and each time, I could have written the same review again. This really is a top class pub for food.

Food good at a realistic price. Nice ambience and staff that go out of their way to make your experience an enjoyable one.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch yesterday the meat melted in your mouth and loads of it talk about prompt service my partner was overjoyed we were short of time the lunch came before our drinks he was over the moon. Great atmosphere here and beautiful food what more can you ask for. Highly recommend this restaurant on all levels.

My husband and my friends regularly call here for a lunchtime meal. I'm not afraid to take them here. The staff are always welcoming and accommodating. (One Lady is 92yrs old) she always clears her plate. Even been known to have dessert too. She is a fussy eater.
I cannot fault anything. Where else do you get such lovely staff too? We have never had a bad meal. I would recommend you to everyone.

What a great place. Fantastic atmosphere, wonderful and friendly staff, great rooms. Was the best stay that I've ever had on a work trip. Will absolutely be visiting here again. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
