Fantastic Sunday lunch in a lovely environment with great service, highly recommend!

Popped in for a light lunch and was blown away by the effort put into the food. Very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food. Will definitely be coming back.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast dinner today, very good value for money, delicious, well cooked and hearty and relaxed atmosphere.

Food and staff are amazing but it is 00:48 and the boozy customers outside the bedroom windows are still shouting and laughing as loud as they can! No consideration at all. I am wearing ear plugs and can still hear them.

Friendly staff especially the lovely lady serving today.

Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay while we visited Neil coles museum of sci fi. Thay couldn't do enough for us and even supplied the most amazing vegan breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely fab experience at The Golden Lion yesterday evening. I'd only ever eaten downstairs in the day time but we tried the lovely restaurant type area on the first floor. Perfect low level lighting, kitsch decor, toilets smelt beautiful (noticed a fancy scented candle in there! ), the brunette lady who served us was lovely, music fabulous as it was songs we all know (eg Amy Winehouse, songs off of Top Gun etc) but in 'restaurant style' so easy listening background music. Him indoors had the beef burger with £1 supplement for caramelised onions and bacon and I had the cod and chips. Both dishes were amazing. Cooked to perfection and great portion sizes for the price. I asked for some of mine boxed up and the lady couldn't have been more accommodating. I'll definitely be back and it's an A* for everything from me Thank you.

This was a wee gem of a hotel. We found it more by chance, but the room was lovely and clean with a very nice decor & lovely en-suite bathroom. The food was really good as well. The owners were very welcoming and the staff really friendly. A wee bonus was an awesome band on in the bar called Gatecrashers. Made our weekend. Also a great place to stay if you like to walk. Will defo be back.

What a night we had! We booked a table in the restaurant as part of my 40th celebrations. We loved the decor and atmosphere but the highlights were definitely the staff and food. Our food was absolutely delicious and there was tons of it, proper tasty well cooked meals. The staff went out of their way to make our night super enjoyable, our waitress Cordelia was utterly fabulous. Thank you for a night to remember. Xx.

A little jewel in the crown, lovely friendly staff great food, particularly liked Italian night on Tuesday, a welcoming atmosphere would recommend.

Fantastic food great value.

Food is very good. Best, thinner (not fries) chips we've had for, literally, years. Vegetarian lasagne also decent. Local beer in tap (Golden Plover a favourite of Best Beloved). Serve lunch 'til 2.30 in winter months. Try it!

Had a meal in the restaurant last night and it was absolutely beautiful. I had a steak, good quality and cooked to perfection. My friend had lamb shank that looked delicious.
I would certainly recommend a visit, fantastic food in a beautiful setting.

This was the third time I have been and the food is top class. The pub and it's decor are very welcoming and friendly. Didn't eat much of my lunch yesterday but that was down to a personal thing but the family polished it of. Well recomend.

The food at the golden lion is by far the best pub food I've ever eaten! I'm a little addicted to going. We were there on Saturday for lunch, we'll be there for birthday lunch with family tomorrow. I even took my mum there for Christmas day dinner! The decor is lovely, the staff are really friendly and welcoming and the log fire keeps you cosy as you enjoy trying everything from the menu! Highly recommended this lovely place :-)
