Went to the holding lion as I was in cornridhr for work. Took the wife and kids. The food was amazing, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the price was decent too. Would 100% reccomend.

Good pub food. It was quiet an a Friday eat evening, getting busy for karaoke as we left.

Now THAT is a level way above pub grub! Really good quality food, great presentation, and a lovely friendly welcome with great service. Exceeded our expectations. A shame we don't have one back home!

Attended for Father's day, notably our first visit, however by definition of the excellent customer service, moreover cuisine, I/ we would anticipate a return visit in the foreseeable future. … Both my wife and I found the staff very personable, with a very efficient and prompt service… Overall we found the Lamb cooked to perfection, likewise the vegetables and the mashed potato, additionally the roast Potatoes — cooked in Goose fat I understand were outstanding. … In summary, competitively priced, and would suit most budgets, excellent value for money, and a thoroughly enjoyable family day out… Well done to all the staff.

Stayed Friday and Saturday night, Staff so friendly — food was really good portions too big for us — breakfasts were the same rooms very clean also bathroom only issue was Karaoke on Friday night but it was still a fantastic weekend and would strongly recommend this place The Village is just beautiful and a great place to use as a base.

Called in for lunch on way back from Hexham. The meals were superb, plenty of vegetarian choice and the portions were substantial. Long hop home with a very full stomach.

Pleasant dog friendly pub… staff very helpful. Had tasty hot sandwiches which were nicely presented and lovely coffee. Unsure about parking as we were walking the dog but there is parking nearby anyway. Good location in picturesque Corbridge.

Nice friendly staff. Food was really nice. Best fish and chips ever portion sizes huge I couldn't eat it all… which is a first for me… At first thought it was a bit pricey for fish and chips but once food came and I tasted the fish it was well worth the money… will definitely be back…

This is an up to date pub offering a lovely relaxing and homely environment with welcoming and friendly staff. There's a restaurant area which offers a great selection of tasty food. I highly recommend a visit on an evening to enjoy one of the many performs often providing entertainment. The Golden Lion is a great place for all to enjoy.

Just what you want from a room above pub. Really helpful and friendly staff. A very comfortable bed. Windows that open onto the main square and all in the charming setting of Corbridge. If you like faceless anonymous hotels (Hiltons, Best Westerns etc. ), this is not for you. But I loved every minute of my time there. Tea & coffee in the room, TV, Wi-Fi, hairdryer and a very good breakfast. Everything I want for a happy stay. I also enjoyed the dinner menu. Charming!

Good food. Very good staff. I recommend it if you stay in or around Allendale.

We were just travelling south and thought we'd stop in Corbridge for a break, and spotted the Golden Lion. We were thoroughly impressed. There was a delicious looking lunch menu and a very full and tasty normal menu, after which all of us left satisfied. Good prices as well.

Smart looking bar restaurant, had very good food today and was warmly welcomed by the staff.

It's just had a face-lift very nice good beer and friendly atmosphere.

Was just a one night stay, the food was great, the room clean and no issues with it but what impressed me most was the Staff. I have not seen such a high standard in customer service in a very long time. Certainly recommend and will stay again. Thank you.

Very nice, steak and burger both very good, nicely cooked and tasty, lovely properly cooked chips. Friendly service, good value.

Great waitresses​ all friendly couldn't do enough for you food was good only tiny fault was the larger carrots in the vegetable tray could of done a little longer cooked but other than than no complaints portion size is gud you leave feeling full very close to 5 star 4.5 start if a could give that.

Nice cozy venue. Too warm inside however! Was practically melting whilst working here…

Always seems to be quiet, but don't know why. Friendly, good beers, homely food, dogs allowed in the bar.

Had Sunday lunch for 5 people and all the meat was dried out and over cooked. Vegetables were fine, but not enough for 5 people. Dessert was OK, has rice pudding but pretty sure it was just out of a can with a bit extra cream thrown in. Experience was spoilt further by loud mouthed clientele a few tables over who gave us her entire life story non stop at a very loud volume.
