Had the most amazing wedding day here, beautiful venue and all the staff were amazing!

Stayed here a few times before and always loved it, stayed last night with my husband and we were very impressed with our room, food was lovely as always. We had booked this for a relaxing night away but it was far from relaxed. Bar area was constantly full of guests from 1 of the 2 weddings that were on yesterday who were quite rowdy. We had our meal booked for 8 and the bar in the restaurant was also really full from the other wedding.
We had hardly any sleep as the noise was horrendous. Doors constantly banging, running along the hallway outside our room and also above our room and lots of shouting. This went on until around 2am so a relaxing night away this was not. I appreciate there were 2 weddings but there were also quite a few other hotel guests, also quite disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of order. All in all not a good stay this time.

Well where do I start?
The setting, room and entire hotel are all beautiful, clean and stylish.
Our fantastic night started in the bar where the barman was very polite and helpful.
Then to the Spa, probably my favourite to date. The pool temperature was the hottest I’ve ever felt. Thomas who was on the spa desk was brilliant give that guy a raise
There was an issue with my dog making noise in our room that was dealt with very professionally. Then on to the restaurant which again was a delight, Pippa was always on hand to give us what we needed. All in all I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended.

Pippa went out of her way to ensure that we had the best Wedding memories to treasure, everything in arranging was smooth and hassle free and well organised. Very polite and friendly with all guests involved on the day, would highly recommend anyone to have Pippa as their Wedding co-ordinator for such an important day,
We are both a very gratefull in the time she spent to ensure everything ran smoothly and the feedback from our friends and family was that everyone enjoyed the whole day.

Absolutely fantastic venue! me and my now hubby have had some fabulous times here celebrating Anniversaries and birthdays so decided to book for our Wedding venue. I'm sooo pleased we did! fantastic service from start to finish and all the staff go above and beyond!. All of our guests had a fabulous day too and we can't recommend this place enough! thank you so much to everyone. Can't wait to return! xx.

We loved this hotel. The food is out of this world! The decor is to die for! The chandelier in the grand ballroom is exquisite. Staff are so friendly especially Alexandra she just couldn’t do enough for us. She is such a credit to your hotel. We will be back thank you.

Beautiful setting, comfortable rooms, fabulous food, relaxing time in the pool spa area. Lovely staff, especially the girl working in the afternoon in the pool area.
Only down fall was it was busy and not enough staff to cope, obviously not there fault. Food came 2 hours after ordering, we had two hungry and tired boys. Very apologetic and meal discounted from our final bill.

Nice hotel, setting ok but not wow. Excellent service in restaurant and check in. Friendly staff. Room nice but completely overstuffed with furniture so you could hardly move! There were an awful lot of little steps in the corridors, more than expected even in old building, so elderly beware. A pleasant stay and I did like the receptionist, bright, friendly and efficient. In restaurant we were waiting for desert for a long time (didn't complain as we were letting our dinner digest) but the waitress noticed and knocked money off the bill. I would stay here again though if in area for right deal.

My husband & family recently attended my niece’s wedding at Derwent Manor, which was amazing. Rooms, food & service was outstanding. I have stayed at many hotels, but got to say this was exceptional. The beef dinner served at the wedding breakfast was unreal, the best I have ever been served. Staff were most helpful and the whole wedding experience was 10/10.

Just had a fab stay over with friends to celebrate a special birthday. We couldn't have chosen better for relaxation and quality for such a reasonable price. The meal must have been one of the best I've had and the staff were all very professional and friendly. Hope to return and will certainly recommend to all.

My daughter nicola Nolan (now Mason) and her new husband Glen Mason, were married here yesterday, what a beautiful day & night had by all. The staff were lovely and a special thanks to Ryan, who I take was the head waiter. He couldn't help any of us enough. He went above and beyond his job. He made my daughters wedding that bit more special. So I would like to thank Ryan and all the rest of the staff for their kind & thoughtful service.

Spent 5 nights here with husband, mum and 2 children. From was start to finish, we had a fab time. Lovely hotel surrounded by beautiful scenery! So close to Beamish museum, Newcastle, Durham and beaches etc. Rooms are stunning! Breakfasts were amazing! We all particularly enjoyed the waffle making machine. Leisure facilities were good, However. Pool was could be bigger as very busy with 12 people in it. My 13 year old son didn't enjoy getting dressed in the communal changing area. Would be good to have at least one changing room. All the staff were lovely and friendly. Nicola and the other receptionists always greeted us with a cheery smile. Breakfast staff also very cheery too. Was sad to leave, but would love to go back again. X.

I can’t rate this hotel enough it’s absolutely beautiful! We had a one night DBB stay at the weekend and everything was perfect from start to finish — we didn’t want to leave! (It took a trip to the farm on the way home to persuade my 3 year old) The room was faultless — clean, modern and the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in at a hotel! Our daughter couldn’t get enough of the park and pool then our 3 course meal in prego was delicious I couldn’t believe what we got for our money! Breakfast was the same such a huge variety and all so tasty! All the staff we spoke to were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. All in all a fabulous stay we can’t wait to return!

So. I had originally booked for only the Sat (7th july) in the hotel for the flash sale. My Mr to be surprised me by booking the Fri (in an anex room) also. What a fantastic weekend we have had. The rooms and food were absolutely beautiful (massive shout out to the chefs) but it was most certainly the staff that did it for us… couldn't have a nicer bunch of workers! We now know for sure we made the best decision on our wedding venue next year! It has made us even more excited for our day thank you all for making our 1st stay perfect! Bring on Aug 19

Great place for Sunday lunch, carvery available at decent price. Large spacious room that also can be used for wedding ceremonies. Free car parking. Safe for kids to run around as there is plenty of space. The room that the food is served is a nice clean friendly environment and the staff are polite and welcoming. The Sunday roast was good and we definitely be going back soon.

Lovely summers day. The outside seating area are in the prime position. We didn't have any food. However what came out to the other customers seemed OK.

Fantastic place to stay, great for families, must recommend the fillet steak. The bedrooms are decorated to a high standard, as is the rest of the hotel. The staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fab with lots of choice. Will will be back soon!

Since it has been renovated my better half has been planning our wedding to be staged here. However everytime we visit for food either on an afternoon or evening we experience some of the worst service you can imagine. We arrived today for a fun day and decided to eat in the bar, there was two other tables busy so we thought the food would be pretty quick… We were then informed by the waiter that the kitchen were having a nightmare! Not really what we wanted to hear and more worrying given only 3 tables had people on them. We then went outside to witness a waiter trying to stuff as many marshmallows in his mouth as he could. Then another shouting at a colleague accusing them of nicking his phone. Pretty unprofessional in my eyes. Problem with this place which can be a quick fix… stop employing kids who don't care and invest some time and money into bringing the service levels to the same standard of the renovation! Now don't get me wrong I can't tarnish all staff with this brush however the poor service we have received on several times have been from late teens to early twenties. The trend speaks for itself. It's also seriously making the good wife to be look at different wedding venues! This issue also extends to the leisure facility where I have encountered some of the most miserable staff on the front desk. Unwilling to help, no care for the business and zero knowledge on their role.

Lovely little cottages surrounded by substantial grounds of greenery. Did not get to explore the grounds or use any of the facilities but the apartment we were in was beautifully and luxuriously decorated with everything you would need to enjoy a comfortable home-like self-catered stay. Not bad for £75 per night!

Lovely food, good value for money. Nice friendly staff. Lovely clean restaurant in gorgeous surroundings. I would recommend the Sunday carvery, just make sure you are not too late as they do run out of some meats and don't replace them.

Stayed on a Groupon deal. The room was really modern, spacious with great TV and lovely bathroom. Absolutely immaculate and fantastic black out curtains. Our 3 course evening meal was absolutely delicious, especially the salmon and the deserts. Breakfast was a great, varied continental offering with buffet style full English. The pool was lovely and warm and all staff were very professional and friendly. Could not fault our stay. Excellent value for money! We'll be back.

Restaurant is good staff very friendly. The room is in a separate building. It is very cramped with 3 heavy doors to negotiate everytime you go in and out. Decor very dark the weather was terrible which didn't help. The buildings are lovely. It would be better if the room was opened out with less doors. The sofa is very uncomfortable.

Attended a wedding party here and really enjoyed it. There are several function rooms and lovely bar area with open fires. Staff are courteous and helpful and the recent refurbishment has been done to a high standard. We didn't stay overnight so I can't rate the rooms. Would have been five stars but for the smokers gathered around the main entrance dumping their cig butts into the plants!

Went for a viewing for a future wedding, very well presented, the staff member who showed us round was proffesional and friendly. We liked it so much we are booking it.

Strange hotel, with an updated interior. The corridors felt like a late 90s early 00s nightclub. Location is spectacular, a more fitting interior would have been more suitable. Good parking. I imagine it's a popular wedding venue.

Stayed for 1 night my husband. Our room was lovely. Had a few drinks in the bar area and then went for a meal at the restaurant. The 3 course meal was beautiful and the breakfast did not not disappoint either. Will certainly return thank you x.

Absolutely fabulous hotel. The bar area is so inviting and cosy with open fires and very modern other fires around the bar area. This is a must to visit. Top class place and reasonable prices. One of the best hotels I have been to.

Not been here for some many years. Reason we stayed away was it was in need of major money spending on it, and it showed. Tried it again recently for bar meal after a personal recommendation following a Christmas Party there. Nice surroundings, staff, and food. It's had the investment it needed. We'll be back.

Compared to a lot of the hotels I have stayed in Derwent manor has got most of it right. From three friendly reception right through to checking out, ALL the staff were brilliant. Room was massive clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice especially the real mushrooms and not just heated from a tin. I would give the hotel 9.5 out of 10 only the shower letting it down (needs a bit of power) or could just be me and what I like … but all in thank you all for a pleasant night.

Stayed for two nights with the family. Had an excellent stay. Rooms a good size. Staff very helpful.

Lovely hotel, with ample parking and gym and pool block next door. Newly decorated room. Decent Wi-Fi. Very quiet location. Finding the rooms was a bit puzzling and may be an issue for guests with mobility problems as there are steps everywhere! Other than that, very nice stay and would certainly recommend.

Far better than the 3 star rating. Polite and courteous staff. Room quality is excellent and they allow dogs. Very good value too.

Visited here for a wedding reception. Room was lovely, drinks not as pricey as I imagined, and all of the food was absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful day for a lovely couple.

I attended my cousin's evening wedding reception there. Room looked spectacular, food was lovely but I felt the tables and chairs were to large and left little room to move about. There were 140+ guests and not enough bar staff to cope with that meny people, lots of people used the restaurant bar which if I had been a guest of the hotel no attending the function that might have annoyed me.

Very pleasant and well presented place with friendly staff. The only downfall was the lack of bar staff. Alcohol prices were reasonable though seemed vary on every visit to the bar. Shame they didnt have a gazebo or a sheltered area from the rain for the outdoor activities.

I've stayed here before and always try and return when in the area. It's absolutely beautiful. Recently refurbished to a high standard. I would recommend paying the little extra to stay in one of their cottages which are absolutely spectacular, like a home away from home.

Stayed in the bridle suit, absolutely gorgeous, what a wonderful experience. The staff were more than helpful, always had time to stop and chat, very welcoming. We had our evening meal in the restaurant food 5 star. Then coffee beside the log fire, what more could you want, thank you will definitely be going back.

I have and do use Best Western hotels regularly. I will be more than happy to use this one as I have learned they will not be hosting the local hunt. I want nothing to do with any organisation which facilitates this barbaric & cruel practice. Well done Best Western.

Fantastic suite, really well laid out. Rooms are modern and clean. Food is great, restaurant is under refurbishment currently, however the bar is serving up their food and is really nice inside. Considering the location, Wi-Fi isn't bad. I've seen much faster connections however like I said, location restricts this, but it's good enough to work. It's very quiet here which is lovely to come back to after a busy day. Has now become one of my favourite BW hotels.

Lovely staff, great self catering cottages, fantastic to have a pool on site. Hugely relaxing and easy reach to Newcastle, Durham and Hadrian's Wall.

Fantastic hotel with amazing food.

We held a surprise 60th birthday here, staff were fantastic, rooms were lovely, we stayed in one of the cottages, which had been newly renovated. The hotel managed to make our mam's special day perfect.

Under present management the Derwent Manor is second to none in offering a welcoming and enjoyable stay, whether for an overnight or extended visit. Value for money and facilities provided in an idyllic setting provide a base for exploring the local area.

By far the worst customer service ever experienced, staff very unwilling to assist and there are many more issues here. But word of warning if your intention is to sit back and watch the tv's when you get to your room forget it! The tv's are dated but more importantly place on a stand which is lower than the bed so your forced to spend the night sat on a very uncomfortable chair. Bed sheets are stained bathroom light cracked. Very poor best avoided.

Very good food in a nice setting.

Great value for money, fantastic staff, beautiful scenary, great parking, we will be back again.
