Fabulous food. Homemade soups were delicious Fish & Chips to die for. Hubby had the burger which was gorgeous! Higher end prices but don’t mind when it’s so good We’ll return!

Nice meals, well presented but lacked anything outstanding for the price. Nice surroundings and staff but had to get up and pay at the bar because we seemed to have a been forgotten about. Spoiled it a bit.

Excellent Sunday lunch today. Roast beef v tasty and tender. Served with several roast pots, Y pud and 4 vegetables. Yummy. Efficient friendly service. Will definitely return.

Absolutely excellent. The Plough has become our favourite place to stop off on our way north or south on M6. Worth the 5 mins detour from the motorway. Great food, well presented.

An excellent little Inn near to the Lake District. We were totally delighted with our very well furnished and spacious suite which was truly special. Some amazing thought has gone into every aspect of the hotel for the convenience of the guests! Breakfast was sumptuous and freshly prepared on order. Wide variety for Children and adults. Overall a very luxurious stay in a quiet part of Northern England. Highly recommended for travels.

Fantastic food service and rooms. I was more than happy with my stay at the Plough inn. From the moment I walked in I was made to feel welcome. The wait and bar staff were excellent, very professional even towards the awkward old pompous people who wanted more than they paid for. I would recommend a stay here to anyone. Thank you.

A relaxing pub with exceptional food. The staff were very friendly and the selection of beers was great. I wish I lived close enough to become a local.

Celebration family meal, great food attentive and polite staff. I would recommend the sourdough with bacon butter, it's a huge portion. So make sure you're sharing. You'll want to leave enough room for your main.

Had a nice meal here with friends. The food was good but a little pricey. We sat in the restaurant but the food was very pub style. The restaurant and pub did tick all the boxes in regards to it decor. Log fires in restaurant and pub make for a great atmosphere on a cold day. We waited 45mins between starters and main course. It wasn’t overly busy so they knocked 10% off the final price. Staff were brilliant and very helpful.

Nice atmosphere nice fires and sofas yet to try the food but menu looks enticing.

Food not good. Roast Beef was still red, BLT sandwich had no bacon. Disappointed all round. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Visited here with a friend for a pub lunch after nipping into Kendal. The food was very good and reasonably presented. The staff were very attentive but if was very quiet. The only let down was the pub was a bit chilly. The log burner was eventually lit after a prompting but it was too late for us as we were on our way out by then.

Unbelievably disappointed on my first visit to The Plough, been wanting to go for ages and I won’t be going back again anytime soon. We were sat in the front room which was incredibly cold — the extremely miserable bloke (wore a different shirt to the rest so I presume was a manager) tried to light the fire with what appeared to be a blow torch — all he did was create a 1 man smoke machine which had ourselves and other tables heavily coughing from it (fire never actually stayed alight — it went out straight away) We then continued to wait for our food which came to just shy of an hour since ordering (wouldn’t have minded as much if we were made aware of the wait time). Once the food came my burger was rather cold and just about able to eat (didn’t complain about that as I was that hungry) and another member of our group ordered a medium cooked steak — it came extremely well done — we sent it back and then 5 mins later got an extremely rare steak! Had to be sent back again — it came back still quite rare but I think she had enough of waiting and just ate it I live local in Kirkby Lonsdale and have wanted to go to the Plough for ages as I’ve heard such great things — how very disappointed I am.

Tonight's meal was excellent. 3 of us all had different and we all agreed on the quality of the food with the meat cooked exactly to our liking. Our starters and sweet we were spoilt for choice. Very friendly attentive staff. The atmosphere was warm and makes you want to go back again.

Decent vegetarian options. Well thought out menu and well cooked food. Service could have been better food the price tag.

First time dining there in quite a few years, wasn't disappointed but not blown away either. Service was hit & miss, we were given the evening menu instead of the lunch one so had to choose again what we wanted & curiously the Chicken & Ham pie was £3 more expensive on the lunch menu to the evening! On querying this they charged the evening rate, chips were extra? The Chicken & Ham pie was nice but too many baby onions & not enough of the star ingredients which was a shame as looked lovely. Some form of potato should be included & not extra, sorry.

Great seasonal fresh quality food served in beautiful setting. Candles on during the day creating a lovely calm ambience. Great staff very friendly in a natural unforced way. Highly recommended.

Very nice food and drink. Up market which means expensive. Worth the money? Just about. Car park was too small on the Sunday afternoon we visited.

Called in for an early evening dinner after a day out. Made to feel welcome. Enjoyed the food. Reasonable price for the quality of the food. Good service without being 'in your face'. Overall very relaxing and satisfying. Would eat there again.

Second visit for a one on one tutoring session, staff observed privacy and service was as good as the first time. Back again next month.

Just had a great lunch outside in the beer garden. The staff are lovely, and the menu has plenty to choose from. Great gin selection.
