Waited over an hour for a seafood sharing platter. When it finally arrived there were about 6 prawns swimming in grease, a thimble full of octopus, no mussels (the staff had already explained there weren't any) and some deep fried fish in batter, again swimming in grease. The best thing about our lunch were the lovely staff at the bar who were friendly and professional. They deserve a big thankyou for the way they handled the food service as frankly for a Monday it was a shambles. definitely won't be going back.

Went to the Curry Club event last night with some friends. I cannot recommend it enough. Good selection of genuinely authentic Indian dishes and the best garlic bread I've ever tasted. Brilliant night had by all.

Great pint of Timothy Taylor's landlord. The girls were happy with their Foster's and Moretti, very well adhered to Covid regulations. When a table was vacated next to us a member of staff was downstairs within 30 seconds sanitising it and preparing it for the next people. The decor was nice, and the service from the staff was both prompt and very friendly. 5 stars.

Lovely safe environment, excellent staff who are very attentive and cater to your needs. Excellent food and a friendly atmosphere. Nice to find a pub that goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

Couldn’t fault the bar/restaurant. Food was amazing and very good value for money. The bar/restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. Stayed one night in Room 3 (Hermia) on the 17th October — The room was comfortable and all amenities needed were provided. The bathroom looked recently upgraded but room itself was slightly dated and worn down. Upon walking into the room we were greeted with a very overpowering smell of damp, masked by a plug in air freshener and on the wall by the left hand side of the bed were visible signs of damp and mould. This was also very visible on the window. Upon using the toilet, it was evident it had not been cleaned since the previous guests. What was more disappointing was that when we politely raised the issues with the manager as a heads up, we were not even given an apology and it seemed they were already aware of the issues, which suggests these were raised previously by other guests. For the price we paid for the room we wouldn’t expect these kinds of issues. Despite the above we had a very nice stay. The location is great and just walking distance from shops and other pubs and restaurants. The free parking was also a great bonus. We would stay at the Shakespeare Inn again given the above is rectified.

Stayed for 2 nights and also had evening meals. We were impressed at every stage as the room was clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. The staff were very pleasant and hard working.

Just popped in for a drink. Very safe and welcoming wish we'd booked a table. Thanks guys great job under the hard circumstances right now.

We came to Kendal as a last minute break. My Dad and I would have preferred to stay at The Skakespeare Inn, but couldn't get the days we needed! When we arrived on Sunday, we headed here and were not disappointed! The food was delicious, the environment was beautiful and extremely clean. Considering the staff have extra duties with the Covid19 infection regulations, you'd think it was second nature to them as there was no lag in service. Subsequently, we ended up in here every night, as no other establishment could match this venue (went elsewhere one night and food was excellent but the service was slow). I've loved it so much I've booked to stay for 2 nights in August for my Mum's 60th. Thanks so much guys!

First time in Kendal what a great pub. Friendly staff and fantastic food. Chicken and ham pie homemade superb.

We have just got back from spending 2 nights here, accommodation is fabulous, food amazing & the staff are wonderful we 100% will be back.

Only been to Kendal twice and this pub is the best place to eat. Lovely hospitality and the management have done an amazing job with the refurbishment since we were here 2 years ago.

Had a fabulous stay room was lovely food was great breakfast was amazing I even got a certificate for getting our car thru the archway lol highly recommend.

Absolutely love staying here! Lynne & David are so so friendly and welcoming, they have a fantastic staff team. Rooms are comfortable, clean, warm and relaxing after a day exploring. Breakfast has an amazing choice something for everyone from fruit, cereal to an amazing cooked breakfast. The evening meals are fantastic, fresh, local ingredients making some of the most amazing meals I have had in a long time. Every time I have stayed here I don’t go anywhere else for an evening meal. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Just an amazing place to stay, sit and relax Xxxx.

We have just had an evening meal and a couple of drinks, what a super experience! Great food excellent service (Stuart) and not overpriced. If you are visiting the area as we were, then add The Shakespeare Inn to your “must eat at” list!

This was perfect for my quick stopover in Kendal. The staff were very friendly — they put on an early breakfast for me and even made me a packed lunch without me asking! My room was clean and comfortable. I didn't have a pub meal so can't comment on this. Would definitely come again.

It's good pub food, nicely decorated in a trendy arty and interesting way. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A bit of a surprise for Kendal Town centre.

This was a great bar with nice local cask ale and tasty pub food. It was not quite the traditional old world pub that I was expecting… but is still a nice pub.

Good staff make an establishment and this place has 2 of the best. Lovely food and attentive staff.

This is a very nice and clean pub that looks to have been recently decorated. The staff are very friendly and although I didn't eat here the menu is good but not extensive. The only thing that let's it down is the 3 benches outside that is also a drive and while sat outside a car passed with very little room for error.

The refurbishment is superb! What a difference for the better. Ales are in excellent condition, venue is light, bright & friendly. Dave? the landlord made us feel most welcome. Dogs got biscuits and water… Yep, well done! (Can't comment on food as I haven't eaten but it looked great! )

I stayed one night, excellent room, very nice people, and would highly recommend, some of the rooms have their own front door which is great, and it would be a perfect place to stay for walkers or cyclists, many thanks Pete from Herefordshire.

Great little pub and b&b. The car park is located at the back but you have to drive down a very narrow passage way to get to it, next to the pub.

Friendly traditional pub, called in as the sign outside said that they served food all day to 8:00pm, bought drinks & found that food was 5:30 to 8:00pm, nice for a drink, didn't stay for food. So had to lose a star for the sign, sorry.

Great food! great atmosphere! staff are lovely! allows dogs and has free parking, but it is down the alleyway that seems tight but I managed to get my Nissan juke down with ease. Has sky sports no BT.

The staff and the patrons made us feel so welcomed, it was exhilarating. We got a bit of local flavor when the staff and patrons had do much to share about the food, local places to see — historical information. Anything we asked. The food was wonderful added to the friendly atmosphere.

Great hotel and accommodation. We stayed here whilst updating Google images. Great food reasonable prices and great selection of beer. The staff could not do enough for us. A big thank you to David and Lynne for putting up with us.

The rooms are nice, almost feels like your in a cottage and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Staff are very polite. This could be a good or bad thing depending on which way you look at it but there is 0 signal on both our phones and no Wi-Fi in rooms so no way to be contacted. Otherwise superb, thank You!

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful and made our short stay very relaxing. The room was warm & comfortable and had everything you need. Tea & coffee etc. We had a comfortable night & a great breakfast. To top it off, we were offered free parking for the day after we had checked out. The Shakespeare Inn is a jewel in a lovely town.

Good accommodation. Good staff, helpful and friendly. Four real ales, kept in excellent condition. Well recommended!

Currently 4 real ales, always have London Pride and Old Peculiar on. The other 2 pumps change on a weekly basis. Beer well looked after and friendly staff.

Proper pub with proper locals and no airs and graces, but pleasantly friendly and welcoming. Nice beer, nice atmosphere, wear a suit, wear overalls, read The Sun or read The Times, it's just a decent, honest pub.
