Rooms great, food really good. Went to order dessert the same time as my mains and was told don’t worry order it after, only to be told it would be an hour as they were now busy.

Spent 2 nights here decent rooms good room service in the middle of the town. Great views from the room overlooking the bridge and the river. Only really have one negative point was that their carpets is very small and also used by day trippers. Nearest car park is near the train station and as the directions weren't great I spent nearly an hour looking for it behind the NHS surgery under an arch but nothing sign posted. Easy when u find it then is about a 10 walk back to hotel. Other than the parking facilities can't complain would come again.

We had a very pleasant stay in this centrally located hotel to the amenities of Kendal. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Ours had a view of the river. Good food and a swimming pool which was a winner with the children. Thumbs up.

Great hotel. Spa etc. Breakfast great. But the restaurant food in the evening was very poor. Would stay again but not eat at the restaurant.

The staff as usual were great, also the suite was very nice, clean and had a large comfortable bed. On the negative side the dinner menu which had been changed from our previous stay was a Very Big Let down!

Been here this weekend and paid £420, I left a day early to go home, the bed wasn’t a double it was small and very uncomfortable so neither of us had a good sleep, the room was roasting hot even with the fan provided and the window open, facilities are not as they look on the website. Very expensive for the service and rooms you get, staff aren’t helpful at all and there’s never anyone at the bar. Will be looking to get a refund.

Lovely venue and very friendly staff. Food was fine, not the best for me, but being GF/LF it’s always hard to get appropriate choices you like. Others in the party very happy with their choices.

A quaint place in a beautiful location within the Lakes which caters for the Meerkat Meal deal. Food choice and portions are reasonable. The staff are pleasant and accommodating. So if you are in the area check it out.

Lovely hotel & nice food but the changing rooms were very unclean. The sides of the pool were no better either. We went two days in a row and they definitely hadn’t been cleaned. Wouldn’t go again because of this. My husband ended up with Athletes foot.

Stunning building and location,. Good size bed and room. Customer services was poor this weekend. From arrival to departure. Staff hung over on the Sunday morning after being in the bar on Saturday night. This showed in the dramatic drop in attentiveness, politeness and general customer services. Bar was closed before 11.30 on a Friday night even for hotel guests. Shane as hot is lovely. Think this could of been bad timing as other reviews seem pretty positive,. This was not our experience.

Room great, bar really good with friendly staff, restaurant was a disaster for evening meal but good for breakfast. We would stay again but not use the restaurant for evening meal. 4 meat/ choices on menu were not available and the fillet steak and chips were served burnt and inedible.

Kendal is a small (slightly sleepy) place. The hotel is located directly on the river. Rooms are spacious — unfortunately the windows cannot be opened completely. Eat very well. Staff helpful and friendly.

Nice location. Room was so hot we had a portable fan running all day and night. If you opened the windows the traffic noise kept you awake.
The pool area was lovely but in reality with 3 people in the pool it was full. Given that there was a child being given a swimming lesson while her father swam that meant one other person could fit.
Breakfast quality was variable. First morning was acceptable. Second morning the mushrooms were swimming in butter, the scrambled egg was chewy and the croissants were not cooked.
Would I stay there again?
Only if I couldn’t get a room at the Castle Green Hotel, which is why we ended up there this time.

One night in June. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views of the river, from the bar and room. Roomservice food was superb (recommend the cheeseburger). Comfortable bed and clean room. Way better than other local hotels.

Few days stay midweek with hubby … Nice location, staff pleasant, food nice, swimming pool and spa and gym perfectly adequate for short stay. Well placed for exploring the lakes. Breakfast is buffet and all you can eat so no cause for complaints, set us up for the day!

Overall, mediocre for the money. Sound insulation was bad. Temperature in the room is super high in summer, no air con, prepare to get sweaty at night :) Swimming pool is smaller than seems from pics, only about 8m long. For pros — room was good size and clean. Overall impression — price/quality ratio could be a little better.

Just stayed at this hotel for a long weekend break and apart from the lovely location (right by the river) I was quite disappointed. The room and bed were extremely small and cramped, was very hot and frankly the whole place looked tired and needs an update and some tlc. The 3 course dinner was ok but nothing special and my husband was amazed at the small portion of meat when he ordered pork fillet which can only be described as bite sized! Most staff were unfriendly and not particularly helpful. We will not be returning.

Stayed in April 18 one night which met the need. Room was a reasonable size with a lovely river view which was sadly obscured by failed double-glazing. It was also quite chilly. Sound insulation was poor, next room were very audible, just talking at normal pitch. Breakfast was good but marred by piped radio around the dining room. Staff were efficient but not especially friendly. I am a member of the gym, the showers of which are often cold. The bar food is above ordinary. The hotel could be great, given the position, but it feels as though no one really cares about some of the details and that there's penny-pinching.

Rooms are nice I've stayed a few times. Always clean and tidy! The pool is warm and the jacuzzi too. The sauna is unfortunately colder than it should be but steam room is really hot. Gym is small but functional! Small amount of beer and ale on offer at the bar and a selection of 2 flavours of either crisps or nuts… Which is poor.

Rooms we very comfortable and clean, staff very helpful. I would visit again.

The riverside is in a gŕeat location. It has a leisure centre and free parking. We had a suite which was fantastic. It's also dog friendly.

Good location and the room was very nice. The leisure facilities were clean and the staff friendly. The evening meal was very disappointing however. Good ingredients poorly cooked. And there were also items missing from dishes.

Total agree with my partner jade! Absolutely shocking! Only one nice member of staff in the restaurant she wore black glasses and Curley hair in a pony tail! I’d rate her 5* but I’m rating everywhere else — 1*! Not acceptable at all! Shame on you. We were really looking forward to coming and all we got was disappointment! Would not recommend anyone to go, the gym and leisure was spot on as the staff in that section was very polite and helpful as for the hotel staff should have been trained with manners, it doesn’t cost a penny to have a smile on your face or to be polite! Also there was a lot of dirt/dust on the window ledges of the restaurant as we sat at the table for 2 in the corner! Food was atrocious as the menu was very hard to understand and the waitress’s had no education on what was on it, half the things on it wasn’t in stock! So I had to have 3 slices of ‘homemade’ bread with no butter or nothing so it was very dry! Defiantly not happy with my staff and for sure won’t be back! The price for the room was extortionate! Most places come with a small fridge in it! At a price like that you’d of thought that the facilities in the room would be to a high standard!

I stayed here for a romantic night away with my partner we travelled 180 miles for one night, the small room was extremely over priced very basic. Old water still in the kettle also what looked like blood on one of the towels. Restaurant staff were rude as they spoke foreign whilst we were trying to sort out the fact they had charged us for an extra meal which was unacceptable and made us feel ill at ease, didn’t know much about their own menu and 3 things we did ask for they didn’t have in stock so my partner ended up with 3 slices of bread with no butter for £7.95. Then to top it off the gentleman in the bar refused to give us juice so we had to go to Asda 3 miles away only to come back to the lady on reception who we earlier complained to, to follow us and hide in hotel then we caught her following us to our room. Absolutely disappointed and would definitely not recommend anybody to stay here, the gym and pool to the public would be the only part I would approve of.

Clean comfortable with lots of nice personal touches. Very nice peaceful location in the town centre that provides free parking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only down side was pool taken over by a swimming coach shouting instructions constantly at kids who were learn to swim. Surely there is a leisure centre somewhere local instead of the small pool for hotel resistance!

Arrived latish (7:45) only to be told there was no reservation! Transpires another guest of the same surname had my room due to an error (ie not clarifying the first name). Thankfully they had anther room for me. After a long day and 4 hour drive I squeezed a swim, steam & sauna to refresh albeit the facilities are a tad tired and in need of updating. Starving after my spa session I was mortified to learn there is no food service available after 9pm! (Not even a small room menu! ) I stay in hotels around the UK every week and have never experienced this. Note: if arriving late, take your own food! Also miffed to buy a pint of lager (on offer at £2), request a lemonade top (literally an inch) and be charged £3.50! Finally, the room was unbearably hot. Despite being — 1 and snowing an open window made no difference.

Good location. Stayed here previously however not with an infant. Sadly the hotel is not baby friendly due to the lift situation, narrow doors, no ramps and steps to everything.

Went on a Super break New Years Eve package. The hotel is centrally located in Kendal alongside the river (as the name suggests). It has a convenient car park which is a bit on the tight side. It could be full as it is used by the hotels leisure centre members. The staff were very nice and friendly always had a smile for you. The bedrooms were comfortable and a nice modern clean bathroom. It is a bit higgledy-piggledy as in up and down different levels on the upper floors. However not too much of a problem. The food was good and decent portions. Breakfast is buffet style with continental and hot choices available. The bar area was a let down as there wasn't enough seating for everyone and there was a mix of furniture which was well used. The ambience was a strange mix. The leisure centre is small with a 10 metre pool. It's gets uncomfortably crowded at times. Would I go again. Probably if I needed a place in Kendal and if the price was OK.

Had a 9 year olds party here. Staff were great. Pool was nice and clean. Good facilities. Nice food too. Very good value.

Only been here a couple of hours or so. The rooms are spacious and clean the gym is small but evefything you need. All in all very happy and will return.

Nice cosy place to stay. Had bundled breakfast in hotel accommodation. Old stone building by the side of a river. Very picturesque. Loved it.

Second time me and my blockpaving partner have stayed here and all I can say is amazing truely amazing hotel staff are so friendly hotel is beautiful rooms are really stunning breakfast is amazing we had a room overlooking the river again and me and my blockpaving partner spent the whole night reminising about life and having a few beers again lol can't wait to return I miss it already.

Only stopped by to use the gym the guy there was super friendly and helpful, couldn't fault him one bit.

Lovely hotel and wonderful staff but huge shame about the gym. Signed up as a member back in April and turned away three times in the first month because it was overcrowded. Was very dirty and in need of a refit, especially changing rooms. Manager seemed very helpful and understood, said I could cancel membership no problem and gave me details to cancel the direct debit, but now being chased by debt collector despite cancelling within agreed period of 30 days. No reply to correspondence to gym just left to deal with the franchise headquarters. Previously booked my clients into the hotel and had business meetings and events there but won't be doing so anymore. Have since met a lot of other unhappy people locally who signed up, especially folks who supported the gym during the flooding. Tempted to go to the press since no resolution and no joy from direct contact after 6 months of trying to come to resolution.

The chairs are si squishy and comfy here and the ambience peaceful. Had latte and scines as well as soft drinks. Lovely view of the river x.

I went for food and drinks with friends. Food was both enjoyable and arrived quickly and there was a nice selection of drinks. Some good outdoor seating to view the river and the staff was friendly and easy to talk to.

I attended a work meeting here, the conference room was a tiny room without any windows — certainly no view of the river. The lunch was terrible, cheap sandwiches and chips. Very poor.

We had a lovely weekend here. Great facilities and friendly staff. Loved the on site leisure centre.

Lovely situated balcony for evening drinks. But priced a little on the expensive side.

The balcony above the river is the perfect place to catch the last of the sun and a beer in an evening (if you don't mind that is also the smoking area). Prices are reasonable, though the décor could do with a bit of a refresh to make it feel like a more desirable drinking/eating destination.

Very quite and good ambient. I try the local beer and the fish and chips for the first time… Perfect The breakfast is also really good! Typical English breakfast! Close to the city centre.

Me and my new fiance won a competition and got a free 3 course meal. The staff were very kind too couldn't fault them… will be back there again.

Brilliant location as is very central to town yet fast away enough to be peaceful. Situated on a lovely part of the river. Ask round great facilities.

We were hit by the flood in Kendal and found our way to The Riverside they gave us a comfortable room for a week at a very reduced rate because of the emergency. I will always be grateful for this kind gesture.
