Amazing location and lovely period features.

Great food and location Staff very helpful and welcoming.

We were lucky enough to stay in the High St suite on Valentines Day. The room was lovely and had lots of quirky features and the views from all of the windows were absolutely breathtaking. The food was amazing and the staff were very attentive and made you feel so welcome. The perfect place to switch off from the world. Would definitely recommend this hidden gem.

Stayed for what was ment to be 2 nights but due to local flooding had to leave a night early was gutted! the staff did what they could to make the stay memorable I went as a girlfriend and left a fiancée beautiful hotel amazing location cant wait to see it when its not torrential rain! 🙂

Great hotel in an amazing, quiet part of the lakes. The best place to rewind and recharge. The hotel is just the right size and is a walk back in time 80 years ago. Love it so much been three times in 18 months and will be back again.

Loved our stay at the hotel. We stayed in the lake view suite which had a gorgeous balcony and great views over the lake and hills beyond. Truly stunning. Loved the vintage style decor and a gorgeous big bath tub. Felt like they had good precautions in place for Covid-19 and felt safe. Food was really good too and friendly staff.

Wonderful and quiet location, off the main tourist trail enabling walks in gorgeous landscape away from crowds. The hotel has fantastic art decor styling, comfortable and spacious rooms along with a varied and mouthwatering dinner menu. Will also provide picnic lunches on request. The relaxed and restful atmosphere is in sinc with the location.

Amazing for couples, romantic retreat, fabulous views with fabulous interior and food, staff very friendly and welcoming, would highly recommend for anyone wanting too get away from it all xxx.

Dog friendly Beautiful scenery & jaw-dropping views.
Staff are exceptional, really helpful and so lovely. Food is delicious. Prices really good. Lakeside room is a pretty loft style, spacious, comfy and clean. The biggest shower I’ve ever seen! Lovely seating area by the window.
On check in, they explain everything and what to do if you need anything past 11pm when the staff go off duty, where the door is if you need to go out with the dog.
Breakfast was delicious
Decor is tastefully in keeping with the Art Decor feel. We will be back!

Its our second stay here and both times have been truly amazing. Beautiful rooms, amazing food and stunning scenery, the staff are very attentive and friendly, its fab to see no shops etc! its a gem of a place in the middle of nowhere and we love it! ❤highly reccomend thankyou lots.

We had an amazing few days at the hotel; comfortable cosy surroundings. Amazing food, fabulous staff. A very special place. A special stay — with my boyfriend proposing on the lake, before we returned to the hotel for a delicious meal, wine and celebratory cheese-board!

Great atmospheric rooms if you don't look too closely at the cleanliness. Great reasonably priced food and drink. Super friendly staff too. If peace and tranquility is what you're looking for then this is the place.

Just back from spending a 2 night stay at the haweswater hotel for our 2nd wedding anniversary and the hotel was beautiful the view from our room was incredible also the food was delicious the bar prices were very reasonable too an all round amazing place would highly recommend.

The hotel was unique the views of the lake were to die for sumptuous breakfast friendly breakfast staff.

Last minute getaway and we were not disappointed. Loved everything about this place. Unspoilt views, quirky interior, unfussy and genuine. Bed was really comfy (but couldn’t watch telly in bed)!

We stayed for my 30th last year, and I have to say it was spectacular. We had the suite on the corner that you can have the dog in, and it was great. Breakfast is really good, evening meals are perfect. Can’t wait for my next visit.

First ever visit to Hawes water. We went to see how low the reservoir was. It's low but not as low as in previous spells. Yet. Beautiful scenery. Nice place for walking and photography.

We have stayed at Haweswater a few times and so pleased to note that everytime we visit nothing much has changed and if anything has it is always to the good, which is actually surprising as everything is so excellent already. From the helpful friendly staff to the superb food it is always a joy. Not leaving out the tasteful decor, the stunning views, total tranquility and glorious red squirrels and colourful birds all playing in the lovely garden. Highly recommended and we will definately be back.

We loved staying in this Beautiful hotel with a spectacular view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I also had the best pie. It was the best meal I have ever eaten and food will never be the same again.

Nice and quiet part of the Lake District with access to wonderful hiking routes from the car park at the end of the road to the reservoir.

We visited here on our first day in the lake district. Luckily for us it was sunny and not windy, which made for some great photos with the snow covered mountains reflecting in the water. We only walked a little way up the one mountain, but you could easily spend the whole day here hiking around.

Beautiful walks and scenery.

Beautiful area, pretty easy low level walk around the lake, and able to see remnants of old village before the dam was built dependant on the month you visit.

Just come back from a wonderful 2 night stay. I cannot fault this hotel. The room was large with a view to the garden and the lake.
We ate in both the restaurant and the bar and the food was delicious. What makes this place stand out above the crowd (apart from the stunning location) is the excellent staff.

Wonderful place friendly staff and very good price, the food was amazing only topped by the view! Will definitely recommend and will be staying again well worth the 2 and a half drive.

Our visit to this lovely hotel was overshadowed by a few shortfalls that in summary made our visit somewhat underwhelming. To begin with the building is beautiful and located in a fantastic spot on the roadside facing the reservoir. The view from the Whelter Kreg suite was amazing. As I understand it this suite is one of a few recently refurbished and came at a slightly higher cost. Entering the fantastically presented room was a good start to our stay after a pleasant conversation with someone at the reception. Ringing the bell promptly summoned a member of staff who saw to us straight away. The top middle window was open and I quickly found out why, it would not close, not a problem but neither would the recently installed shutters on the inside. I quickly came to engineer a solution which involved a chair on top of a coffee table wedging it shut. Job done. The facilities are fairly good, free Wi-Fi is advertised but the broadband connection is next to non existent and with it being out in the sticks that's understandable, whats more the access points are all located downstairs so chances of connecting on the top floor are slim to none. Restaurant and Brasserie both serve some lovely food and we were given the opportunity to book a table upon arrival. At dinner time we found someone and were seated. It then took 20 minutes before an out of breath waitress appeared to take our drink orders.

A lovely hotel with scenic views over lake, art deco decor inside 1930's style, for a fair value, good quality breakfast included enjoyed jacuzzi bath and balcony views. Out the way from civilisation… Make of that what our will. Would visit again.

I'd have never found the Haweswater Hotel if I'd not found a special offer, but I'm glad I did. High Street suite (named after the local Roman road that runs along a mountain ridge) looks out over the reservoir, it's idyllic, with a little balcony just calling out for long summer evenings watching the sun set light up the hills. Judging by the mugs in the bar, the place was built in 1937, and there are déco touches everywhere, and while it's a bit shabby the hotel is kept immaculately, and the whirlpool bath was great. Though the range of beers lets the restaurant down, the food impressed every day especially considering the mains were £10-15. Given the views, the food, the delightful room, and the red squirrels that breakfasted outside the windows, I'd definitely consider this place again.

We've just spent a lovely weekend away at the Haweswater Hotel and we have no complaints. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and cosy and the food was great. The best thing about staying here though are obviously the amazing views of Haweswater resevoir; it's just a bike ride away from some magnificent walks too. Found a deal on Groupon but I would definitely go again. Such a pretty place.

My husband an I stayed for 2 nights as a treat to ourselves — and what a treat it was. The Hotel is excellent, the location is excellent oh and the food is superb, very tasty and presented well. Staff were helpful and polite. Our bedroom overlooked the lake from the side but would of love a front view next time. Our room was a littley chilly but apart from that everything was tip top… We will definately return for a little longer than a weekend. Loved it.

We stayed for two nights in January 2015. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and the food good. The hotel said that they allowed dogs but the pet room that we were given was up four flights of stairs and there is no lift. So if you're not up to carrying a 20 kilo dog up the stairs, this hotel might not be for you. We still had a great time though and would definitely go again.

Excellent grub and lovely setting and service friendly staff and equally friendly wildlife outside. Soo peaceful and quiet I dare you to ask for a room without telly or telephone, good work team and thanks chef delicious.

What a pity the previous reviewer gave up so quickly, in the face of a power cut which was no fault of the hotel. He and his wife missed a treat! My husband and I have just spent an idyllic 2 nights at the Haweswater, a surprise birthday treat for me. The situation (down the long country/lakeside road) makes it ideally situated for glorious views, peace and tranquility. The accommodation, bedrooms, public rooms, food and service were first class. The staff, Justin, Michael and Sarah, were also first class. They were professional, caring, friendly and courteous. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. The frosty non-light polluted night sky and the red squirrels feeding on the lawn at breakfast time were the icing on the birthday cake.

I paid a £40 deposit to book the Haweswater Hotel for 26thJuly. 40 mins. After arriving at the Haweswater Hotel, all electrical power and water were cut and the hotel was completely dark. The restaurant was closed and unable to cook. Battery power in the emergency lights was so low that one could not navigate the halls. The hotel was left in charge of two young men whose average age was 23 and a young woman of similar age and experince. None of these people knew what to do or how to respond to the emergency. The electrical service company was also non-responsive and was not providing any comment. In light of the situation and the waining daylight, my wife and I decide to leave and find another hotel and dinner. Since the Haweswater is about 20miles from anywhere down a 1 lane 2-way traffic farm road, this was not convenient, to say the least. The person in charge said they would return my deposit. Although this was not the hotel's fault, they agreed to return my deposit. As it turns out they are now refusing to return the money, saying the power returned hours later (I have no proof of that).
