Keep meaning to get this done. Stayed a couple of times, lovely setting and away from the main tourists at Windermere so very peaceful. Central enough to the rest of the Lakes. Great rooms. Not Michelin but food is fine too.

Fantastic location right on the lakeside with its own jetty to catch boats into Windermere. Nice restaurant with a limited menu. Breakfast was good but was a little dry for me, would have liked some beans or tomatoes with it. Well presented and laid out. Staff in all areas especially reception were really lovely and helpful. The rooms were red hot and very clean. Nice little bar too.

Lovely comfortable hotel alongside Coniston. Good food and very friendly staff Very convenient for a pleasant walk into the village which? even for people of limited mobility, is really easy and all on the level. So you can enjoy the grandeur of Coniston Old Man without any of the climbing. A pleasant trip on the Lake is accessible from The Waterhead Jetty or Coniston Pier just a short walk away.

We had a wonderful stay at Waterhead. Staff were friendly and helpful, dogs were made most welcome, situation is perfect for visiting other areas in Lake district and if you like views of the mountains and lakes you can't do better.

We have visited several times. The hotel is warm and equipped with all our needs. Lovely comfortable rooms. Restaurant menu is delicious, if you don't wish to dine in the main restaurant, bar meals are now available and less informal which is a great choice. The staff are very friendly and informative. Fabulous stay and a perfect location for exploring Coniston and the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Located a 10 minute walk outside Coniston village, the hotel boasts it's own jetty and a lovely bar. The room I stayed in was fine, although the shower could use a bit more power and the heating could be a bit stronger. The hot breakfast was ok, could use a bit more variety throughout the week. The breakfast buffet (with toast and cereals etc) could be improved to be a bit more continental and additional fruits (e. G. My favourite dried apricots or grapes). Vegans or vegetarians might struggle. Dinner was excellent!

We had 2 days at the hotel last week the staff were brilliant with the kids and very helpful and polite, The room was very nice and clean the location and the views at stunning. The food was very nice and the new desert menu wow. We will be stopping again.

We had our wedding here in April 2017 taking over all 23 bedrooms with exclusive hotel use.
The ceremony was in the dining room with the peak of the Old Man of Coniston as a background.
This is an ideal venue for a small intimate wedding of around 50 guests. They have rooms with Lake or Mountain views. If the weather allows there is a large lawn area to overspill from the bar that overlooks the lake.
We took our guests on a 45 min cruise around the lake. This was the highlight for many guests. That might have something to do with the free flowing Prosecco that we provided.
All in all we had a wonderful wedding and this venue can be highly recommended.

Just had a fabulous 2 night break. The staff are extremely nice. Lottie in reception is the first person we got to meet. She was very welcoming. The meals were fab. It's always said that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, " we certainly started our days with a full belly and a smile on our face due to Janet. Your smile and friendly nature is a lovely way to start the day. We will defiantly be back.

This is our second stay at the Water head Hotel this year, the suite we have called The Rafters is amazing, both for it's facilities and cleanliness which is a theme throughout the Hotel. The staff are amazing, polite and can't be faulted. And lastly the breakfast, which cooked to perfection with your choice from the available selection which is very wide and a nice selection of cereals and fruit. Also perfectly situated for either local tours on foot of Coniston Water or The Old Man or hopping in the car for some broader sight seeing. In other words the Waterhead Hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District.

Excellent afternoon tea with plenty of food. We didn't go home hungry!

Absolutely fantastic, scenery from the bedroom window was brilliant, scenery from the dining hall was just amazing. Will definatly come back and bring the kids — if there is availability. Fully booked up through to the end of April 13.
