Great place to stay especially if you have dogs. Never been to a place that is so dog friendly 👍

Lovely two nights here with our dog. What a beautiful hotel. Such a warm welcome on arrival for us and our dog. Staff are so friendly. Loved the Belfast sink, with a warm water tap to wash doggy paws and boots after a muddy walk. Breakfasts were delicious as was dinner at night. Wonderful selection on the menu to suit most people. Best dog friendly hotel we've stayed at. No restrictions where the dogs could go apart from the kitchen. It really was wonderful, with a warm homely feel for us and the dog. Rooms well equipped, with tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits. Shower was great with lovely toiletries supplied. Our two days were so comfortable at Ravenstone Manor, and we look forward to returning in warmer weather to take advantage of the lovely outside area taking advantage of the views. Many thanks to a great team. Hope to return soon.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here in Feb 22. Everything was perfect. Lovely cosy clean room, staff and service was excellent and the food was great too. Can’t fault this place, we will be back. Great lounge areas to relax and good walks straight from the door. Super dog friendly, this is the most dog friendly place we have stayed our springer spaniel loved it as much as we did.

Fabulous warm and friendly hotel. Brilliant if you’re a lover of dogs as they are very welcome. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

I think this hotel is FANTASTIC. They are unbelievably dog friendly and dogs are allowed everywhere which was really nice for me and my young Labrador because we just needed some time away after a really challenging year. The location is excellent, the food is outstanding — I had a really nice steak and ale pie which arrived piping hot and was delicious. Great desserts, too! Joe the manager was really kind and welcoming to me and my dog and all the staff just gave amazing hospitality. They were all really friendly and the room was just great. Can't criticise anything but I'm not that picky anyway. To all the staff, keep doing what you are all doing — you're the best of Cumbrian hospitality.

Beautiful dog friendly hotel, staff are so friendly and remember everyone they meet! We went twice for a meal then loves it so much we booked a last minute stay for the night to finish our holiday! Christmas decs are beautiful, our daughter loved it aswell as me and my husband too! Room was lovely overlooking the lake, bed comfy, bath lovely and deep! Very relaxing thank you so much will defintely be returning.

Every single member of staff in this hotel is friendly, helpful and courteous; they couldn’t be more welcoming. It’s a gorgeous building and the rooms do not disappoint, not to mention the comfy and friendly bar and very pleasant dining room. There is something for all tastes on the dining menu but my husband said he could eat the lamb every night because it was so delicious. Oh and the bed was super comfortable. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel and really dog friendly! Sausages at dinner & breakfast for pooches! As much a valued guest as us! Food was as fantastic! The only thing I would say needs improving is that there were no beans with the full breakfast! And I’m scraping the barrel because everything else was great! Will be going back!

Just got back from an absolutely stunning meal here, had the lamb fritter to start which I would suggest everyone should have because it was just amazing, I almost couldnt finish the main because of the very generous portion sizes! Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here the night after our wedding, staff were lovely, room amazing, food devine and we enjoyed a complimentary bottle of fizz from the staff.

Charming 'olde worlde' hotel overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. Helpful and attentive staff served a delightful lunch… just a shame that more people weren't in the dining room as we were the only diners. Three of us had beef, chicken and lamb. All cooked to perfection with a selection of vegetables. Highly recommended…

Had a one night stay here for a break we loved the food and the rooms were all lovely and relaxing.
Staff were all friendly and attentive.

We’re just home from 2 nights at Ravenstone Manor where we stayed with our 10 month old son and dog. What a friendly hotel! The staff were amazing, so attentive and Peter especially was fab with our son. We walked straight out of the hotel into a lovely walk to St Begas then up the Dodd summit. No need to drive anywhere. Delicious food both for breakfast and tea, and a good selection of drinks. The dog was welcome in the bar as well as dining room. … We’ll definitely be back for future visits.

From the start we fell in love with this place, pulling up to the car park and looking over the amazing view. I had booked to surprise my girlfriend for her birthday and we were both in awe at both the manor itself and the view from it. We went for a walk whilst waiting for our room (we were early) taking her dog with us, the area is beautiful and pictures could never do it justice. I opted to book the cottage on site which is very homely, modern and has everything you need a…nd more for an enjoyable stay. The pictures on the website reflect this but just like the area the pictures didn't do it justice, being able to sit in the lounge area or wake up to that view was just idyllic. I would be remiss when reviewing this place to not mention the staff, they were very attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. You could tell from the start how much they genuinely love dogs, Bella thoroughly enjoyed her stay and got plenty of fuss from the staff — particularly falling in love with Peter as she would stop whatever she was doing and look for him whenever he went past and made a big fuss of her! I must also highlight how brilliant we thought Carol was, she was a delight and perfect at her job, if all people in the service industry were like her then going anywhere would be a much nicer experience. The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and always delicious too!

Beautiful building. Bar, lounge and restaurant area were very welcoming. Some lovely period details and features with a modern twist. Rooms were a good size. Bathrooms were newly fitted. Food was lovely. Some great staff.

Really enjoyable stay. The staff were all so friendly and the food was fantastic. It is also a very dog friendly hotel with dogs allowed in all the public areas. Our room was excellent with a wonderful seating area for us to appreciate the superb view. Will definitely be visiting the hotel again.

Ravenstone Manor has been under new ownership since February and, whilst still a work in progress, it is evident from speaking with Charlie, the owner, that this is a hotel run with passion, commitment and pride. One of four hotels in the family business, the Ravenstone is the most dog friendly place I've ever stayed, where pooches are part of the family and you are not banished to the "special dog owners room out the back". In fact our dog was with us at breakfast and dinner in the main dining room and in the bar. The staff are all relatively new and learning as they go but they all make you feel so welcome and looked after. The food is excellent and the room we stayed in was large and comfortable, with double ended bath and large walk-in shower. A great location for exploring the northern lakes (skiddaw is a tough walk straight behind the hotel). If you have a dog I cannot recommend this hotel more highly, and if you don't have a dog, I cannot recommend this hotel more highly!

Very nice place. Not too far from Keswick so it’s easy to get in town. There are also 3 walkpaths nearby so you can just leave the manor and be on your way. The staff is excellent and very welcoming. My only negative point is that the bed was a bit too small but we still had a good night rest after the long walks.
The breakfast and food were also great.
Very highly recommended.

Recently visited again. It's changed hands and improved. Already liked it a lot, love it now. Really friendly staff and great for dogs, they're treated as guests too. Restaurant is really good. Will visit again later in year when new bar is open.

Really nice hotel set in the beautiful north lake District. Nice tidy and clean bedrooms with helpful and friendly staff. There is a good breakfast menu which was faultless. Had an evening meal too and it was fantastic and well priced in comparison to similar restaurants in the area.

My son (Jack) and I, have had a wonderful three nights at Ravenstone Manor! The staff are particularly friendly and welcoming, allowing us to feel completely relaxed and comfortable. The food has been amazing, with a wide variety of options that have been cooked and prepared to an exceptionally high standard. The presentation and variety of complimentary tastes has made eating pleasurable! Without doubt, I shall be returning to the Manor. It nestles at the foot of Skiddaw with marvellous views overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. I feel completely relaxed and at ease at Ravenstone, or maybe, that's the Kendal Mint Cake Liqueur with Baileys that I have been introduced to; irrespective, we shall leave Ravenstone Manor tomorrow wishing we had a few more days to enjoy the many positive qualities that the Manor has to offer!

Such a great place! We had a drink in the lounge and diner after that and it was both great! Such nice staff, a really great meal and after that… we were brought home to our B&B by car. Thank you very much!

Great food. Really good to have a proper steak and ale pie rather than just a casserole dish with some puff pastry on top. Great flavours, very tasty food.

Awesome little hide away, tidy and clean hotel deserving of its stars. Lovely food served in the restaurant and a beautiful building! A true hideaway, nestled in the lakes, not overlooked by anything at all, direct access to walks and only 10 minutes drive from/to Keswick!

Lovely hotel food excellent but unfortunately they are dog friendly! Alas we will not be returning. Do not agree with allowing dogs in the dining room. Breakfast this morning was accompanied by four sis and a never ending barking schnauzer! Same because everything else was perfect. Star rating reflects the dogs. We have been before but some years ago and I should have checked more thoroughly on their website.

An absolutely outstanding winter stay. Room was spacious, staff were friendly and had local knowledge for walks and wet weather activities. More importantly the restaurant food was outstanding and with great service.

It says child friendly, but on the website says cannot accomidate for children under the age og 12. I wouldnt call 12+ a child. If you dont allow children then dont say child friendily its misleading.

We visited here with our dog for our mini-moon after our wedding and we certainly were not disappointed! We were shown to our room and was also supplied with a blanket, bowl and treats for our dog. Our view from the bedroom window was lovely, every morning we had a coffee looking out on the view and it was just so peaceful. The food was outstanding — our cooked breakfast set us up for the day, so much flavour with ingredients locally sourced — and we ate every evening in the restaurant — there was no need to travel away from the restaurant as there is ample choice and so much flavour. The sign says 'fully dog friendly' and it was exactly that; our dog was able to be with us during our stay which was comforting knowing she was relaxed there as well. Walks are so convenient, as you are able to walk from the hotel — we did Skiddaw and the views were breathtaking! On return to the hotel, following your walks, the staff would ask how your day was, where did you visit and listened to your reply. The three of us felt so relaxed during our stay here and we will definitely be visiting again in the future! Thank you for an amazing stay!

Attended a conference/seminar in May 2017. The room was laid out as requested and food/snacks were ready on time.

Fantastic views across Bassenthwaite lake and many places to go to, not far from the hotel its self, skiddaw looms over the hotel. The only downside is the bathroom fans are very loud and breakfast menu isn't bad but there could definitely be more choice. Like bacon or/and sausage barms/baps, instead of the full cooked meal, apart from that, the parking can fill up quite easy so you may lose your space. All in all the two nights we stopped, I had great food, good night's of sleep and really enjoyed the pleasent service given by the staff running the hotel.

Only stayed a short time, food was first class and the staff was very attentive. Will certainly return.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July 2015 after booking a Travelzoo deal. The hotel itself is ok although could do with modernising in some areas, and the location is nice but is in a very quiet area which means there's not much to do apart from walking, unless you're happy to drive 5-10 minutes into Keswick. Our room was a little bit dated and very basic, and due to how old the building is you could hear plenty of noises and creaks from other rooms and people walking about. The cooked breakfast isn't very good and reminded me of something you'd get in a greasy spoon cafe. The Wi-Fi here is also terrible. I needed to access my emails to send an important email but no matter where I went I couldn't get it to work. The phone signal isn't great either so if you need to stay connected stay somewhere else! On the plus side there's a games room with some board games, a full sized snooker table and a pool table, and a nice lounge with a piano. Overall we were left feeling a bit disappointed with our stay. The hotel needs modernising (without losing it's manor house feel) and they need to provide a better breakfast and decent Wi-Fi.

Took the family here, only the 2nd time all six of us have ever been away, and what a brilliant time was had by all. The staff were fantastic, food was spot on and the games room is situated next to the bar so this meant the children could play pool, snooker or what they wanted and we could sit and chat and share a drink or two with others in the bar. WILL come again.
