This was our 4th attempt to stay here and was it ever worth it. the staff have literally done everything we wanted to make our weekend perfect. Don't get me wrong, there were no problems but every little wish I had a granted. The views are so spectacular that I don't really ever want to leave my room which is more like a little cottage without a cooker. can't recommend enough 💕

Lovely place, fab food and some places claim to be dog friendly and aren’t. We went down to dinner tonight and the table was set with wine for us and water & treats for the dog. That’s what being a dog friendly hotel means.

A lovely relaxing charity afternoon tea with a good selection of sandwiches and sweet treats, tea and coffee top ups and very friendly staff. A special place for us over the years, our first visit for long while — I don’t think we’ll be leaving it as long before the next visit.

Myself and my partner have just has lovely break away for his birthday. The staff are warm and friendly they did everything in thier power to deal with anything you asked food was outstanding. The room we stayed in was outstanding. We have booked to go stay again.

Once again we had a wonderful, relaxed stay with outstanding food and service. Wonderful attention to details and the staff cannot do enough for you. So friendly. We won’t leave it so long next time for another visit!

Just spent a weekend here…delicious food, lovely comfortable rooms and very friendly staff…wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Bought 4x vouchers for Sunday lunch yet hidden charges were applied upon receiving the bill with a £44 surcharge. When we questioned this the hotel said it was to cover staffing and Covid costs. We had already paid full price for the vouchers and did not expect to pay additional charges for events outside of our control. We entered into email correspondence to seek a way forward and the hotel are now simply ignoring us. Never again! Be VERY careful what you buy if you purchase vouchers from this establishment. It is not what it seems!

Had the most amazing meal with our friends last night 3/12/21, service was fantastic & Sarah our server was so lovely as it was her first evening serving, always had a smile on her face which made us all feel welcomed & comfortable. We'll done Sarah on your first night.

We had an amazing exclusive use wedding day at the Horn of Plenty this September. The staff were friendly and we felt so relaxed and at ease on our special day. It was everything we had dreamt of and more. Thank you 😊

Had the afternoon tea. Was lush. Service was fab… but we arrived late due to traffic and not sign posted very well. So we only had a hour before we had to go outside as evening meal was served. That was fine. But … my only gripe was unfortunately my husband was driving as we came from paignton. We ordered more drinks and he wanted a coffee… but he cudnt have one… because you were doing evening meals. Sooooo… weve ate. But can't have a coffee. But what if we were having an evening meal and I wanted a coffee? also we didn't get any table service outside tho when the evening customers came in and a couple sat outside they did… but we were ignored. We would have had more drinks. But we felt uncomfortable one of us having to walk in through the doors whilst people were eating… but we will be back because we did enjoy it. The view was amazing but it would be nice if we want a coffee we should be allowed to have one…

After an amazing meal we ran into a bit of difficulty. Without going into details, the staff and in particular the Manager were absolutely fantastic and my husband and I can't thank her and her team enough. Wonderful food and wonderful service to match.

Highly recommended for weddings! We had an amazing time during our reception at the Horn of Plenty. What a wonderful venue and what brilliant people! The grounds were immaculate — just stunning, the food was AMAZING (have had many people saying that the sticky toffee pud in particular was the best that they have ever had! ), the rooms were so clean and comfortable and all of the staff were so kind, polite and helpful. We can't wait to come back and several of the guests intend to do the same!

Last March we had a magical weekend here celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary.
We were looked after so well and our young dog was given special attention when a trip to the vet was required.
Fortunately she fully recovered. Good luck when you reopen and we hope to visit again.

We had our wedding here last weekend. From the planning to the day the staff at The Horn of Plenty were amazing. The accomadation is flawless, the food is devine and presented to the highest standard. The hotel is set in the most beautiful of surroundings, all our guests were amazed.
We simply can't wait to celebrate our wedding reception there next year.

The Horn of Plenty is exceptional in every way. It is set in beautiful grounds, tucked away and is so peaceful and idyllic. We had an elopement wedding there a couple of days ago and it went very smoothly. Julie and Damien were our witnesses and also took some photos and video for us. The attention to detail was fantastic. The entire team of staff are so professional and courteous and polite! They were all a real credit to Julie and Damien. Special mention also to Mandy who was so friendly and just lovely to chat with! Nothing was too much trouble! Our room (3) was gorgeous and spacious. The balcony is huge. So is the bathroom! Everything at the hotel is so elegant and sophisticated and we were very impressed. The food is out of this world, served in a spacious dining room with excellent views over the gardens and valley beyond. There is also a lovely new terrace area to enjoy if the weather is good! The Horn of Plenty made our stay and wedding absolutely perfect and we will never forget it. We were sad to leave! We hope to return one day to enjoy this very special oasis. Our sincere thanks to Julie and her entire hard working team for making our visit so very special and memorable!

A nice welcome, good service and an excellent lunch. Had not been since 2005 for a meal and stayed a couple of nights 20yrs ago. We must go more often. The views across the Tamar Valley from the restaurant are stunning and peace and quiet is a bonus.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Julie and her team for our special wedding day in September. All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the day and commented on the quality and taste of the food. The atmosphere at the Horn of Plenty was relaxed and the view over the Tamer Valley was gorgeous. One of our favourite places. This was our seventh visit and we are never disappointed. The views from The Horn across the Tamar Valley are amazing. The staff do their very best to please and the food is outstanding. We will definitely be back again soon.

Booked in to celebrate our joint 'special birthdays' and recent wedding, we were instantly upgraded to an in-house double room with superb bathroom and external first floor terrace overlooking the River Tamar valley! The decor was modern, the rooms spacious and our stay felt luxurious and pampering! The staff went to great lengths to make us feel special presenting us with personalised menus celebrating our wedding, going out of their way to answer questions about the venue, history, menu items etc with rapid and full responses. Pre-dinner drinks came with canapes, complementary soup arrived at the table for all diners and coffee was accompanied by a handmade selection of sweets/chocolates. At breakfast the following day, I asked for the time it would take to get to our next destination and was presented with a downloaded route map and directions as well as the timing as requested. The Horn of Plenty has, on all occasions we have visited, provided us with a wonderful taste of luxury, superb customer service and the sort of welcome that makes you feel truly special! I can not recommend The Horn of Plenty highly enough. You can even get vouchers to help others to get their own taste of 'special'! Come and see for yourself — there are always offers on, special lunches, charity do's and exquisite afternoon teas to tempt you, as well as the 4* AA rated evening dining. A real find!

We've just returned from yet another very enjoyable and restful break to HoP. This time we were in the coach house as we had a dog with us. It's so nice to go somewhere which welcomes the dog as well as its owners (special food pack and bowl provided! ). The room was comfortable, clean, though pillows were a little tired and lumpy, and well appointed as all the rooms seem to be. My only gripe (again) is the lack of clothing storage — drawers are so much easier than low cupboards! As on previous occasions the food was delicious, attractively presented. The kitchen was happy to make simple changes to accommodate our whims — thank you! The best breakfasts we've enjoyed anywhere and I now we will be back again soon.

Hi there I just wanted to drop you a quick line to once again thank everyone involved in the planning and execution of our big day on Monday. We had the most perfect day and wouldn’t change a single detail and the venue and staff played a massive part in that. We have had so much positive feedback from our guests about the food, setting and the rooms for those that stayed … We will definitely be back in the future and look forward to catching up with you when we do visit again We could not recommend you highly enough! Just returned from my 3rd or maybe even 4th visit to the Horn of Plenty. Once again it didn't disappoint. The staff were welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much bother. The room was lovely and clean and well prepared. After recently being diagnosed with Celiac disease the chef and waiting staff couldn't have been any more attentive. I really could not fault their helpfulness and understanding of the situation and made my first meal out in a while very relaxing. If I could give this place 6 stars out of 5 I would. It's a magical place if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing get away with yummy food.

Great place with large and new rooms as well as spotless. Restaurant of interest and noteworthy in the dishes and proposals, so more than good quality. Good!

I try to get to the Horn of Plenty once a year. It is a fabulous place that makes a couple of days away into a special event. All the rooms are well appointed, comfortable and private. The food is, to my palate, of Michelin quality, varied and genuinely locally sourced. The service is friendly, welcoming and discrete. The HoP is also ideally situated to explore the Devon/Cornwall border and, joy of joys, genuinely dog friendly not merely tolerant. I'm almost reluctant to recommend it in case it ceases to be a well kept secret!

Just back from an overnight stay at this wonderful hotel. We booked Dinner Bed & Breakfast. We were celebrating my Grandsons 18th Birthday. The attention to detail, the kindness and friendliness of the staff and the suburb quality of the food deserve high praise. We also had my 90 year old Mum with us and they were lovely with her. They gave my Grandson a warm Birthday wish without embarrassing him. Thank you Horn of Plenty we will be back.

This place has gone badly downhill. Went here as a guest for my sisters special birthday on the 27th July. We have been coming here for the last 20+ years but what has happened? New owners perhaps? The reason we come is for the fantastic views and the good food. There were 11 of us and we were stuck in a room with no views at all. The food was bad and when my bother in law complained, he was given short shrift. My great niece had pasta that was not cooked through (not al dente, under cooked) and the salmon had by the 3 or 4 adults was raw (again, not al dente but raw — there is a big difference) Never again will we go here.

The chef is amazing and choosing our own wedding menu was so much fun, he listened to our food choices and complemented them perfectly. Not only do you get to choose your own 3 choices for each course but you also choose your canapés, veloute and petit fours which are all amazing. We couldn’t have asked for more lovely staff! The parts of the day that had the HOP were involved in were just perfect, they moulded to any changes in timings and had the day organised perfectly. You don’t have to think or worry about a thing. Our guests have all been so complementary of the venue, the service, the food and the rooms which is what it’s all about! We are lucky enough to live locally to this beautiful venue and will return regularly. We can’t recommend a better venue for a wedding or any celebration! This was a super place to stay; lovely rooms, very welcoming staff and a first rate dinner and breakfast. Very attentive to detail.

Great restaurant especially the location. Proper posh food although you might want to go somewhere else if you are very hungry: the portions are VERY tiny!

The only negatieve about the Horn of Plenty is that at one point you have to leave. We stayed for a one night break to try and get some peace and we sure did. And not just that; We got a lovely personal reception at check in and similarly when we arrived for dinner that evening and for breakfast and tea the next day. Even the cleaning staff acknowledged us with a welcome hello. It was clear that all staff only had one intention and that was to make us feel welcome and special.
We were lucky enough to have booked the best balcony room in the coach house. The bed, the massive shower, the Lush bath, the sheer space we had available were all perfect. What topped it was the sundrenched (even in early January) balcony with an onobstructed view of the Tamar Valley. Simply breathtaking. We can see ourselves come back to this room for a sunny break sometime and simply enjoy the view and call reception for some tasty drinks. Absolute highlight and proof of their desire to please and impress has been the food. A nicely balanced menu with some of the tastiest food we have ever eaten were a pleasure both for the eye and the mouth during dinner (with a superbly matched glass of full bodied red to accompany the perfectly cooked main of venison), breakfast and afternoon tea.

Beautiful location, you feel like you are right in the middle of the moor! We attended a Wedding and reception all in the one place and the service was great. The bar, though small, managed to cater the many who visited it frequently and although we didn't stay, there are rooms upstairs which I heard were very nice. Too far for a pint, this is definitely a venue for special occasions.

Ate lunch there with family. Lovely welcome on arrival. Table in the window with superb Autumn views. Cutlery sparklingly clean. Attentive but unobtrusive service. Three choices available for each course. Each course beautifully presented and just the right quantity. Not expensive either.

Have stayed at the horn of plenty a number of times over the past few years, always while away on Business. The rooms (particularly the superior rooms in the new building at the back) are fantastic and if you can get one with a view over the Tamar valley then you will likely be rewarded by being able to watch a beautiful sunset from your room. The food at the hotel is exceptional and the dining experience is very pleasant and relaxed. The only downside for me is that they do not start serving breakfast until I think 8am (it might actually be later than that) which means when away on business and leaving earlier than 8 for meetings you can't dine in the restaurant for breakfast. The staff are always very accommodating and will drop off a selection of continental breakfast items the evening before so I can have breakfast in the room before leaving.

Slow down in a very beautiful Country Residence. Great room in the coach house with huge and functional bath. Friendly staff, good food. Restaurant needs a style makeover. I would come back!

Really lovely rooms, very nicely decorated and comfortable. Had a taster menu for a work Christmas do and the food was lovely. A little slow with bringing the wine with the course direct he first 2 courses but the restaurant was very busy and the timing was brilliant after this.

I always have a fantastic stay at The Horn of Plenty. A lovely set of buildings and grounds with some amazing views over the Tamar Valley. The dining experience is always very enjoyable and full of surprises. The menus always use great locally sourced ingredients and the service is always impeccable.

Staff were all friendly and the service was faultless. The food was of a very high quality and beautifully presented. We have decided we must return for a night after Christmas together with our dog Oscar. Yes dogs are even allowed in the garden rooms! This is a must visit for anyone visiting the area. ".

The idyllic Horn of Plenty Country House Hotel nestles quietly overlooking the Devon and Cornwall border. Near to Tavistock this really is the heart of the South West. On arrival at the hotel, your attention is drawn to the stunning views overlooking the valley before you've even left the car. The Hotel is a classic 'country house' hotel with a very personable feel from the moment you enter. Very well appointed, wooden floors throughout, stunning fresh flowers and open fires make the experience all the more special. The restaurant overlooks a wooded valley via large uninterrupted windows. It makes a perfect location for a special occasion or even a just a very nice meal out. The food is amazing. The kitchen has won recent awards for its food (as displayed in reception although I cannot remember which award) and will not disappoint. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional and really make you feel at home. The rooms are beautifully prepared and are represented by the price which is fair for the amount of effort put into the hotel. In summary, the Horn of Plenty is everything you would expect of a small first class country house hotel. Everything is offers has a little 'special' something over and above most hotels I've stayed in. The food is excellent, the hotel beautiful, the staff friendly and overall good value for money for the experience you receive. Highly recommended.

After having another fantastic meal at "The Horn Of Plenty", my wife and I would like to congratulate them on achieving such perfection! The hotel is just beautiful inside and out with stunning views to boot. All the staff, from reception to restaurant were attentive — but not overbearing — and a pleasure to talk with. The menu is an absolute delight — and our anniversary meal was truly wonderful — you have a very talented team in your kitchen! We cant wait to find an "excuse" to travel down again. To all your team, a big "thank you", for such outstanding service.

We spent our wedding anniversary there last night. The food was good and the service was excellent but as long as they serve Foie Gras on their menu, I will never return. I mentioned this as our concern and was told that we were not the first to give this feedback. Why would any resturant in this day and age support such extreme cruelty to animals? It is against the law in the UK to force feed geese / ducks via tubes and it is against the law for a very good reason. Google how Foie Gras is produced and you will understand why you too should stay away until this is taken off their menu for good.

Great location and service impeccable, the rooms are also of excellent quality. The food is one of the best in the region (should regain it’s 1 star Michelin). Maybe a change of small items like electric plugs and switches could be an added touch to quality and more décor for the restaurant. Otherwise getting very close to the stiff competition nearby.
