After an amazing visit to hooked who booked us in at short notice as we are regulars, we decided to walk across to the Duchy for a glass of Prosecco on the terrace. We had no Doris as was too hot and unable to take her there, we looked at the terrace and saw couple empty tables. Result! We registered on app and with reception and we’re told no space. I asked to speak to mark (the manager) who knows us well as we’ve frequented the hotel for many meals, occasions, Mother’s Day, red arrows, other costly events (and even stayed there) and were told by him that tables were booked for dinner! This was before 5pm and I mentioned we literally wanted a quick drink each then would leave. There was no leeway given to us and when I pointed out that as locals and regulars, who have spent lots (even off season when we are welcomed income), we were informed that none of these points mattered, it was a definite no. To us, that’s the end, you’ll never have our custom and positive recommendations. If you don’t look after the locals you will notice the fall in revenue when you look to us when it’s off season. I’ll be sharing this post for others to see and consider for their own purposes!

Lovely friendly and helpful staff, the best staff was the guy at the door very polite, helpful care to all the clients. I think his was John. That my my experience the best.

A lovely hotel, which hasn't changed too much in all the years that I've known it… A well run ship by Barry and his team. I would recommend a visit there.

Afternoon tea was very good. You get an individual cake stand with sandwiches, two huge scones with jam cream and fresh strawberries, followed by an excellent selection of cakes. Particularly liked the macaron and mini lemon and raspberry tart. Exceptional value for money.

We have just enjoyed a fantastic weekend here. Customer service was top notch, amazing views and all covid guidelines adhered to throughout the hotel.

Fabulous views, great staff, wonderful food, excellent cocktails and a very good customer relations manager. We felt very safe and relaxed, all Covid 19 guidelines were met and followed by all! We will be back!

This was the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had!
Well worth the money, couldn’t eat all of it, lovely cakes, delicious sandwiches, and scones.
The terrace is so perfect for a great view of the sea.

Compared to other Pamper Days elsewhere we’ve experienced The Duchy is far ahead with size and the personal touch which larger establishments loose.

We have just had a fantastic 2 day festive break at this beautiful, luxurious hotel. The rooms were perfect with every need catered for. The party night was great with good food served and music to dance too. When it all gets too much and you just want to relax the leisure facilities are there to help. All in all a wonderful experience.

Always brilliant service, lovely garden party today despite the odd shower and the air show being cancelled after 10 mins. Nothing the hotel could go about that though.

Lovely hotel. Loved everything about this hotel. Location fab although no local shops around. Shops in town centre. Clean hotel. Lovely bathroom. With nice towels. Comfy bed. Bright room however would have benefited if there was some nets on the window for privacy. Breakfast was good. I think dining in the hotel is a bit pricy £39 pp. Not so much of options from the Terrance menu. The service was fab. Concierge services available. Pool and sauna was good. No steam room. N the spa facilities was not available for the whole bank holiday. Which was a shame as we really wanted some.

Amazing location, beautiful sea views, 5 min walk to beach and gorgeous gardens. Staff sooo helpful and friendly, very good with our 3 little ones aged 1-6. Lovely play room for kids and loved the vintage fair and bar b q night on Tuesdays. Food exceptional and very high quality. Lovely and clean everywhere. Very nice spa and pool.

We've just spent a fabulous week at this beautiful hotel which is in a perfect location overlooking the sea. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The food at breakfast was plentiful and of excellent quality. Every member of staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The well-kept gardens to the front of the hotel are also used as a sun terrace with some sun loungers and umbrellas which are perfect for enjoying the Cornish sunshine. There is a lovely beach just a short walk along the seafront and if you head out of the hotel via the back carpark gate you can walk into town in about 10 minutes where there are lots of shops, restaurants and pubs. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Royal Duchy Hotel for a wonderful week!

Nice hotel outside. Pool area good for the kids and a great games room for them. A lot of older people in this hotel and it gets very very quiet from after 10 so if your out and fancy another drink or two I would advise to stay out. The rooms for 2 guests are very nice all brand new and done up but the family rooms I was very disappointed with. Very old like something from 1990 with old furniture and decor and not worth the money you pay for them. It's like a different part of the hotel. They need to be updated to attract more families in. No sea view either all you get to see is a small car park.

The hotel staff was spot on at their service, couldn’t fault them by millimetres at anything. But the rooms were a bit too pricy compared to size of the room we were given to stay. And I would definitely recommend this place if you’re okay with the price. And I would myself definitely return to this hotel if the prices in future are a bit more reasonable. Apart from that it’s 10 minutes walk from prime locations such as beach, castle and etc.

This is a quality establishment, with commanding views of the sea. With out or inside seating available and keen, attentive staff you will enjoy your visit, whether for a simple drink, afternoon tea with a selection of exceptional cakes, sandwiches and pastries or for a full meal, the choice is yours! Whatever reason you choose to visit you will be received warmly, treated hospitably and given all the attention and treatment you would expect from a first class hotel such as this… Enjoy it! We did!

My partner and I had a much needed spa day here and was treated like royalty throughout the whole day. On arrival we were greeted straight away and was given our tea/coffee. Both had a lovely massage and then had lunch with a fantastic view. After lunch we had a relaxing facial and then used the facilities. We will definitely be back? Thank you R. D.

Feels like it caters for the older resident in comparison to other local 4 star alternatives. Room quality not as good as others in the area — Didn’t eat here, but from breakfast, I would say that this is where most of the profits are reinvested. Location is great!

Went for afternoon tea, lovely Cornish cream tea. Very clean, we were made to feel welcome. Would definitely recommend if you want a treat.

Beautiful setting overlooking Falmouth Bay. Lovely decor and dining room. Silver service and very attentive staff. The food was tasty but the vegetables left a lot to be desired for the price and standard of the rest of the food. Very nice experience though.

The hotel itself is nice. The rooms were clean and in a very good condition and the sea view was great. Room service left a lot to be desired — the bread used for the sandwiches was stale and the strawberries in the compote with the fudge cake were mush. The Wi-Fi is also absolutely awful so prevents this hotel being any good for anyone staying for business (such as myself). The breakfast was great and food is cooked fresh to order which is a nice change from most hotels.

My husband and I had the most amazing time at The Royal Duchy! I can thoroughly recommend spending new year at this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble because the staff were wonderfully attentive. Our room was lovely and the food we had was brilliant. The only complaint I have is… full glasses of alcoholic beverages were cleared from our table by bar staff whilst we danced, this is not on, and no replacement drinks were offered after I asked where our drinks were. It was bizarre because half drunk glasses of water were left on the tables, so I am inclined to think that it was done on purpose to make us buy more expensive alcoholic drinks, like another reviewer has implied in one of the reviews below. However, this would not deter me from returning to the RD because the good far outweighs the drink saga.

Loved the Christmas Party here. Brilliant food and atmosphere. Just wish we weren't the only group told it was fancy dress. They were great at working around the disabled group when there was an issue with stairs as well.

Service was good. Potatoes were poor… You needed an axe to cut them.

Enjoyed a lovely RDA Christmas lunch in beautiful surroundings. We were wonderfully looked after by the very professional staff and we're served a splendid traditional roast turkey lunch. Thank you.

Really lovely Hotel. Staff all superb. Magnificent view toward the sea to the west. Rooms beautifully appointed. Slightly stuffy atmosphere in the restaurant, and no air conditioning in rooms. The first issue easily fixed, the latter I suspect not.

In my hometown. Visiting my mum I took her here for lunch. Great food and perfect service for an older customer. Lovely views out across the sea and the headland. Very very lovely hotel.

Stayed for one week. Fantastic sea views from room and terrace area. Attentive staff throughout the hotel. Cleanliness is excellent in all areas of the hotel. Rooms are well equipped with a variety of drinks and fresh spring water replenished every day. Everything as advertised on web site. Variety of breakfast on offer. I tried the American steak breakfast and had dinner in the terrace area on several occasions absolutely first class. This hotel did seem to attract older people but it does cater for children. A well equipped play room with doors to shut out the noise (ha ha) which our grandchildren enjoyed. The swimming pool had everything that your child will require… even swimming nappies. After stopping at the Grand hotel Torquay it's definitely… goodbye Richardsons and hello Brends. Brend owners look after their hotels and it's obvious they want their customers to return. Thank you for a lovely experience.

My son took me here for lunch. It was a glorious warm summer day and the views are stunning. The food was beautiful and service was second to none. I highly recommend it.

£300per night. TV did not work. No toiletries in bathroom, wrong daily paper, shower dribbles. Key card packet up. … Good food though. Will not be coming back to this hotel group.

I enjoyed my stay so much at your Hotel this week-end, I was loathe to leave, my stay relaxed me so much that the contentment will stay far longer!. Your position with the sea views, the comfortable furniture, the cleanliness and above all the friendly staff (and do not forget the cook! ) Oh I did love it there and will certainly return sometime given the opportunity.

Quaint Cornish hotel with a nostalgic feal. Welcoming staff with great facilities but Wi-Fi is not that great if you happen to need it.

Great hotel just spent 4 days there. Couldn't fault the place, good food happy staff and spotlessly clean. Falmouth town 5 minutes walk seafront on the doorstep.

I am rating the Food at a 3* but the Hotel itself is 5*. Customer service is excellent and the views are amazing you cannot fault this hotel. What really disappointed me was the food. Guests had things you don't want to eat in your lunch, the meat was under cooked and cold. Its hard to complain over a £20 lunch, but if you step up a little on price I'm sure you could do a lot more.

Lovely food although the portions could have been slightly bigger. The vegetarian option was massively smaller than its meat counterpart. Other than that the food was lovely and well presented and the staff were very accommodating.

Stunning hotel and beautiful location — one of Cornwall's best. Tip: Even though its not in the town centre its an easy stroll to get to the shops and bars.
