Jacobs Ladder Inn Hostel

Just had such a lovely stay here wish we could of stayed longer! Doesn’t look too fantastic from the outside but step inside and you will be wowed! lovely freshly renovated interior, spotlessly clean, super friendly staff, gorgeous breakfast and food and dog friendly too! Not forgetting the lovely views of the harbour from the room. Very pleasantly surprised!

We have been looked after by all staff during our stay for the Joust at Pendennis Castle. All have been incredibly friendly and accommodating. The rooms are lovely; the bed super comfy. Amazing breakfast and evening meals. The whole jousting crew (14 people) had a fish & chips supper on the last evening and the brilliant chef even organised for 2 suppers to be delivered to the Castle for the ones staying behind looking after the horses. Cannot recommend enough. Who needs to go abroad when you have Cornwall, Falmouth, Jacob's Ladder Inn.

Fantastic lock down take away food. The vegetarian cottage pie was the best I've ever eaten. The portions are all a good size. Great service and great value.

Roast delivery is bloody great! It doesn’t turn up a soggy mess like you might worry it would. Separate vat of gravy for you to administer as little or enough to drown in as you find necessary.

Lovely Sunday roast, great banter with the locals!

I enjoy Jakes because it's so friendly. Never any trouble and their burgers are brilliant.
I have been numerous times from Blackburn, 8odd hrs away.
Their Halloween party is the stuff of legends. I dress up, let my hair down, although this year, as Hagrid, its was bloody hot hot hog
The rooms are clean spacious, unlike some hostel accommodation, where you're packed in like sardines
The atmosphere is great, the choice of beers, ciders and wines very good, combined with menus for food, its the bees knees.
Their Sunday roasts to are belly busting value
Do yourself a favour and come and see for yourself, don't just take my word for it.
There's also big screen sports and darts, plus free pool till 7pm.

Had a brilliant weekend staying here! Really friendly place, staff go out of their way to make you welcome. Comfortable rooms and relaxed atmosphere. Great for dogs! Food was fantastic and really good value. Will definitely be back. Thanks from the Calstock OAP’s!

I had an awesome time playing at Jacobs Ladder tonight as True Foxes. A lovely welcoming atmosphere with friendly bar staff. We are looking forward to coming back here for more gigs in the future! Thanks for having us, TF.

Jacob's Ladder is a great little venue with funky decor, friendly bar staff and great live music, three nights a week. What a little gem. Definitely recommend!

Good 'ole Jake's. Always great and terrible. Don't be deceived by the cheap menu… the food is homemade and hearty. Live music every other night including local classics.

Great athmosphere! as the hostel is located top of a pub. It is a lovely building, you have a view of the coast from the bathroom :) and most rooms. There are 4 or 5 rooms with bunk beds, 2 showers, 1 bathroom and 2 bathrooms downstairs in the pub. Everything is small and not super comfortable but great value for price. Stuff is the best :)

Really top notch pub — We went on quiz night which was a blast (and we won a case of ale! ). … However, my pet time — travelling brontosaurus Reginald said that the doors were too small so he couldn't get inside — Undaunted, I sneakily opened a window so that Reggae could whisper the quiz answers to us, he is after all, very old and he knows a great deal of stuff.

Fantastic dog friendly pub. If you're coming from the Moor in Falmouth it is quite a climb up the famous Jacobs Ladder steps! They host a range of live bands but do check their Facebook business page for details. Their food menu also looks very good although I'm yet to eat here. The pub has a little beer garden at the rear.

Brilliant place to stay and visit. We had a girls weekend in Falmouth and stayed here. Great friendly pub with live music, rooms were really clean etc great location into centre of Falmouth. The stairs were a killer but you can go around a different way.

We walked in wanting to watch the World Cup football and as we opened the door everyone glared at us in annoyance because of the layout of the screen we blocked the screen to walk in. We look around it looks about half empty just there aren’t enough cheers for us so we decide we will stand by the bar. A guy at the bar got angry as we were thinking where to sit because we were blocking the view but there was a lot of space next to him which he could have moved into. Therefore we left and watched the match at home round the corner. In summary the pub looked cute but badly organised and their customers weren’t nice. As a local I will not be going here again.

Nice beer friendly staff we went at 5pm roast dinner was on till 9 but we unfortunately left most of it as it was over cooked looked like they did pretty good live music but don't walk up them steps for food.

Such a lovely place to stay! Cute little room with reasonable en-suite facilities! I have never slept in a more comfortable bed! Very friendly staff with the added bonus of a pub downstairs! Thoroughly recommend it and would definitely stay again.

Room was as expected for such a cheap price, the only thing I feel that would be nice is some ventilation to rooms or at least the one I stayed in as the window seemed to be stuck. Overall and absolute great place to stay on the cheap, great for any back packer or traveler or even interviews at the local Falmouth University which is just a few mins away. Lively and full of great characters and music! Great place and would recommend.

The centre of hipsterism in Falmouth, with a friendly crowd of artists and musicians typically packing the place in the evenings. Every weekend some great band will be playing, and it's a great place to sit back and have a drink and take in the Falmouth scene. The food is not bad also.

I love this place and have done for 16years now, this is very much a traditional Cornish pub, lovely folk, great musicians, live music, & lively pub with loads on the menu to drink like grandma's alcoholic ginger beer/or pint of old rosie sitting beside open fire & tasty food from pizzas / Sunday roast recommend ed. Beer garden at the back n also provides rooms upstairs to stay. Lovely atmosphere n staff n management. What else can I say! except if u want to visit a Cornish pub… this is the one.

In a good location (if you don't mind the stairs). Rooms and toilets/showers are spacious and clean. Staff are polite and helpful.

Orderd our pizza's but ended up with more food than we ordered, barman sorted it out without any fuss. Good value.

Pretty sure I got served a pint that had been sitting around for a while. Also expensive for the area. Downstairs smelt like bleach, overall not worth the stairs. Avoid.

Great atmosphere. It's a pub where you will find mostly locals, staff and clients are truly welcoming. The food isn't great but who cares? All the rest is worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were all kind, helpful and friendly. The room was great, double bed was nice and comfortable. We had an ensuite room which was great for us. It included a shower, bath, sink and separate toilet. In the room we had tea, coffee, milk and sugar, so you were able to make your own drinks. There was also a hair dryer and TV. … We were also very please that Jacobs Ladder, allowed us to bring our dog with us, which we were very grateful for. The food in the pub and for breakfast were both first class. We had breakfast every morning, choices including cereal, tea, coffee, orange juice, fully cooked breakfast, toast and preserves. We also ate at the pub and the food was delicious x On the website it does say a hostel rather than hotel. It also clearly states rooms and beds per room. It also has a shared kitchen and bathroom. I think this was where, some people may have misunderstood. It was also described as a student type pub. It did have some entertainment each night including a pub quiz. They have taken step to sound prof the pub, for when they have bands during the summer months. We were there Monday to Friday, and no noise from the pub disturbed us. When we stayed it was excellent value for money. We would most definitely stay at Jacobs Ladder Inn, when we next visit Falmouth.

Good place for live music and a Sunday roast (not necessarily simultaneously)

A disgusting hovel with staff who wouldn't be able to spell customer service. Barely worth 5 quid a night and we paid 65 quid for the so called deluxe double room. Revolting smell throughout and not seen a good clean for years. Don't give this dump a second glance… not even if you are desparate!

Cheap, cheerful and great location! Just a word of warning for some who might be put off by the following, had the window open as it was very warm, it opened up onto a mezzanine garden roof with a bench. Woke up to a big hairy man smoking a cigarette sat on a bench just feet away from where I was sleeping! Also we woke up with a gorgeous grey cat in the room that had climbed through the window, I loved it, my heartless friend was not so keen would visit again!

Good rooms, nice owner, slightly loud from 10pm-1am but to be expected from the bar downstairs. Nice atmosphere overall.

Pretty standard pub, great live music and fair food.

Sometimes overcrowded or with a long wait at the bar, otherwise a colourful local with an interesting variety of live music and some unique cocktails. Classic pub food and candlelight makes for a lovely evening out. Be warned, there is an irritating £10 minimum card spend.

Went for the open mic night which was brilliant and very popular, great atmosphere. They ran out of chairs so go early to get a seat/table.

Great relaxing atmosphere, with friendly staff and well cooked food. The only problem is the huge staircase leading up to it, but it's well worth the effort.

Got to be one of the nicest pubs in falmouth, I have been here a few times for some great live music, they have a good selection of drinks and just such a nice atmosphere that's well worth the hike up the ladder. Top tip. The roast is fantastic.

Warm and comfortable, it has a homely feeling that you soon get in many places, and it tends to be full of interesting people.

One of the best pubs in Falmouth. It's got everything: Lounge with sofas, pool, darts, back-room for free-to-air football (no sky or bt), and a little garden with covered area for smoking. Good regular attendance, great atmosphere, live music quite regularly on Wednesday (open mic), Thursday, Friday, Saturday (live bands/acts) and Sunday (singer/songwriter). Free pub quiz on Tuesdays. And a cat called Duke. Nice couple of ales on Tap and the usual range of lagers, spirits. Sells bacci and rizlas, too.
