Good left location. Nice room. Comfortable. Good beer. Food looked good didn't eat here.

Found the room very hot in the higher summer temperatures. Far too expensive for the standard of accommodation. However good position in terms of town centre and some attractions.

The room was small but comfy. Bed was perfect hard. Bathroom was a bit broken but ok with good shower. Windows could not be open fully so it was a bit hot in the room. All rooms have doors that close by them self, so lots of banging from nearby rooms. Service was ok. Breakfast was poor, not recommend.

The staff are very unknowledgeable on drinks and most things on the menu, I had to explain that the bottle said "Tanqueray" and not Tequila, one of the staff had far too much to drink and started shouting and swearing in front of everyone in the garden, and when told to stop by her superior, exclaimed that she didn't care and carried on shouting before her boyfriend shuffled her away. The rooms are okay at best, although when the room was cleaned and the towels were taken to be laundered, they weren't replaced.

Disappointing and souless. I have just had a discussion with the "manager" who charged us over £5 for a pint of shandy, apparently soft drinks are now as expensive as a Peroni! It is not the price itself, it is about the stupidity of the manager and his tone.

Simple but good, is close to Clifton College school.

We visited Channings middle April and we had few drinks in the garden. The garden had a nice atmosphere, not particularly busy, although it can be in a sunny day. The prices were as expected and the staff was friendly.

This is a hotel that needs to refurbish its rooms, but clearly won't bother seeing as there is a massive demand for overnight stays in Bristol at the moment. I was in a room on the second floor, and it was falling apart. The plaster was rotten, the towel rail was hanging off, and the bath panel was damaged. However, I can imagine that the bar is a great place to be when it is in full swing, and the food was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful, both in the evening and at breakfast. For those travelling, there isn't any car parking, find a space after 5, but you'll have to be away by 9. Bristol appears to be allergic to free parking. Would I stay here again? God, no.

Outside eating area has tall trees and lamp heaters. Inside is nicely decorated and has two floors. The food quality is fantastic for the price. Helpful and friendly staff.

Great rugby pub excellent atmosphere, didn't see it from the roadside luckily the 6 nations flags gave it away. I was served a pint that tasted of rinse aid or line cleaner, they happily switched it for a better one. Nice selection of beers too. Switched up to Gin and Tonic once the rugby was done.

Really nice bar/restaurant. Friendly service and has a really decent beer garden with comfortable seating. Food menu is nice and decor is brilliant. The food and drink prices are reasonable as well. Only 5 mins walk from Clifton high street, white ladies road and park street.

I have lived in Bristol for over four years and have just found this amazing lovely hotel bar called the Pembroke in Clifton. What a lovely bar with nice staff and sports TV. Its January and everyone is struggling with money. Well they are thinking of you. I got a delicious succulent pork belly for only a fiver instead of the normal price of £10.99… Wow! What an absolute bargain. Hurry though if you want this pork belly meal you have only the end if January to avail of this brilliant offer!

Had a private function downstairs. Fantastic space with good service. Decent selection of beer too.

Nice pub, fairly quiet when we were there. Tables and seats could cater for our large (10ish) group. Service was ok. Good variety of drinks. Heated and ventilated well. Outdoor seating available.

I popped in here for a quick coffee, the staff were nice, the place looked clean and tidy. There was some nice mouldings in the main bar area, typical of the earer. There was a menu and look like they cater to lunch and dinner, I believe there was also a Sunday dinner option. There is also an outside dining area that will be nice in summer.

Stayed for a night to go to a gig. It was lovely and the people who ran it were very helpful. There were a lot of stairs and I was right at the top which didn't help being that I had a suitcase. Other than that it was fine.

Grabbed a cuppa at the bar with friend. Small selection of decidedly average drinks. Barman might easily have been mistaken for a dazed member of public who'd accidentally wondered behind the bar.

Very noisy! Don't think that they should put a family room right at the front of the hotel above the bar. Didn't sleep that well either … thought the bed springs were going to pop out the bed at anytime! On the plus side the staff were very nice! So if it's peace and quiet you're after … don't stay here! £125 for the night … very expensive and you still have to pay for your breakfast!

Went in for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent and the staff were really friendly. The bar itself is a pleasant place to be as well. One of my favourite places to go.

I had been excited to try this place as it looked particularly quaint and cosy. As a foreign customer, which one would assume are common in a pub/hotel, I was denied drinks because my U. K. Government issued visa, which serves as legal identification for every long-term foreigner here, was denied as valid identification. The manager, very rudely, told me that the two corroborating forms of legal identification I had were not enough, needing a passport instead, despite my visa existing almost entirely so foreigners such as myself need not carry around a passport. However this was not the upsetting part, despite it never happening to me in the entire year I have lived in Bristol. Rather, it was when I said I'll just give my money to my friends so that they may buy themselves drinks, and she very rudely (again) told me that I was not allowed to drink, and even when I clarified what I meant, she decided it was appropriate to brusquely remind me again, whilst interrupting me, that I was not allowed to drink. As a university educated young woman who speaks English, I do understand that unacceptable ID means I cannot drink, thank you for your condescension. My friends were so horrified by the interaction that they told me they would not spend my money nor their own on this establishment. Get your customer service together.

The worst sunday roast I've ever had. One hour waiting to be served (it wasn't busy). Vegetables were frozen and uncooked. Frozen roast potatoes were actually still frozen. Dry chicken, untasty pork and terrible cut of beef terribly cooked. Instant coffee for £2.50 (they have a coffee machine but the waiter said he couldn't make a coffee at that moment? ). Wrong change was given and when we mentioned the mistake no apologies were given… But the beer garden it's lovely if you only go a few drinks in a sunny day.

Weird pub and such a shame that they don't make the most of their location and beer garden. It's almost as if they go out their way to employ the most obnoxious staff they can find. I've had bar staff come up to me and make sure everyone in our group is still drinking. I;d forgive it once, maybe a bad day or maybe the question came out wrong, but it's happened several times to various friends in our group. Not sure what's worse; nightclub bouncers kicking you out for being drunk when you're sober or a pub trying to kick you for being sober when you're drunk!

Nice bar with lots of character and the food was reasonable. This is a Greene King pub and I'm not particularly keen on their real ales, nothing wrong with them just not to my taste. But they did have a guest ale and selection of craft beers on offer. The beer garden looked a bit tired and when we visited it was very quiet with several staff sat outside and yet there were empty glasses everywhere. There was only one of the staff actually doing anything, which was a bit poor considering the tables in the garden were full of empty glasses.

The garden is the main attraction of Channings. Although it's a decent local of mine, the interior always feels incredibly sterile and they very rarely have enough staff to deal with the days they do get busy (whenever the sun comes out). Fairly decent draft selection which is what keeps me going back, but would only ever choose on a sunny day.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Roller blind in bathroom permanently closed as there is no cord attached to open or close it. Toilet cistern didn't work properly. No soap, you have to supply your own. No maid service make your own bed, a very noisy bed at that feels as though you sleeping on the bed base. Whole place in urgent need of refurbishment. Bar staff are the only plus point very pleasant. And all this for £90 a night, would definitely not recommend it in it's current condition.

Great bar, lovely venue and great selection of drinks. The food menu looks good although I haven't eaten there. Prices are in the higher regions for drinks but not the worst I've come across. All in all a great place for a drink.

One of the few places in the area to feature a decent size garden. Recently refurbished, so looks pretty smart. Prices typical of the area.

Very bad service, forgot what food we had ordered. Un enthusiastic bar staff who wouldn't even tell us what wine was available "look in the fridge". Had to chase twice to get our food order correct.

The staff are friendly, the location is lovely their outdoor area is especially nice. Prices are very reasonable. I have booked to have my wedding reception at Channing's so obviously think very highly of the place.

Good location and comfortable room. Disappointing that iron was not left in the room as requested on our way out. Had to leave early in the morning and unable to iron clothes.

Lovely setting. Sat in the expansive garden on a sunny day with a beautiful pint of IPA, whiling away the time with friends. The staff here are friendly and attentive, without coming across as patronising or unnatural. Prices are about right for Clifton. This is a stylish bar.

Nice beer garden, perfect for an afternoon in the sun, although the shade catches up quite quickly. Decent selection but nothing very special.

Dreadful service, waited over an hour and a half for chips. Ended up having to cancel the order because "i'd waited too long" in which the waitress responded with "alright, no need to be rude! " — Shocking.

Had a few drinks in the bar area and thought that the value and variety of drinks was very good. Will definitely be heading back to try some more ales and their food.

Booked a room online and was only told the following day they didn't have vacancies. The pub part is fine it is a standard sort of pub with reasonable pub food, but the best thing is a large garden which is great in the summer and probably one of the largest in the centre of Bristol.

After booking two room 5 weeks prior to arrival I would have expected them to at least have some record of it. Until I produced paper evidence to the barman left to run the hotel in his managers absence nothing was willing to be done about it. Leaving the hotel to sort out the problem and after several phone calls they had sorted out the 2 room I booked previously. The rooms were average at best and I had to fix my own television using parts from both rooms to make one working set. In the morning, no continental breakfast was provided as stated when booking the hotel, unless a bowl of cereal is now classed as a continental breakfast. Service at breakfast was shocking, the staff were rude and seemed bothered we had interrupted there morning with are presence. Altogether a bad experience and I would suggest you avoid this hotel at all costs.

We were invited to a party at the hotel. We arrived at about 5:00pm. The rugby was on in the bar and the atmosphere was excellent. We were checked in by a friendly and efficient member of the staff. Before the party started we all ate. The choice was excellent and the service timely, the food was reasonably priced, it was a good size and very well prepared and presented. The rooms were of a good size and very tastefully decorated and equipped with, TV Coffee and tea, Wi-Fi was available. The staff could not have been more helpful, I was most impressed.
