Brilliant hotel in a great location for local sights and shopping trips. Our first stay here and we're very impressed. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room overlooking the canal basin was great — spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you would expect from Holiday Inn. Our evening meal in the restaurant was truly delicious, the lamb was beautiful, and staff were helpful and pleasant. Only slight negative is the restricted car parking beside the hotel itself, but there is overflow parking available.

Excellent service from start to finish. First time we stayed here and highly recommend this hotel. The staff very welcoming and accommodating. The evening meal was absolutely spot on and the breakfast was great. Very child friendly. Great location.

Excellent place to stay, we had a view overlooking the Manchester and Liverpool narrow boat museum and the canal. Staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the breakfast team who did a great job. Nice hotel and very clean.

Nice clean hotel, I use the leisure centre regularly. Gym a bit poor but love the pool. Changing room extremely small and not private but towel hire makes it a bit easier.

Was here for a family wedding in May. Lovely setting, next to the canal and boat museum. The food was delicious and portions a good size. My husband, who is coeliac, was looked after superbly by the Master of Ceremonies, who made sure that he was served gluten free meals. A fabulous day, made even more enjoyable, by great staff!

I have been to this hotel for work, really very nice, a classic Holiday Inn but the location very particular. Located in the midst of a series of canals, very characteristic. Very good restaurant. Nice and clean rooms.

A nice hotel. Food reasonably priced and good all cooked to order except the buffet breakfast, but unlike some they don't put lots out for it to dry up but monitor it and top up as and when.

A lovely, clean hotel in a lovely setting. Staff friendly and helpful. Room lovely, overlooking canal. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Also had evening meal which we enjoyed.

Beautiful hotel in the best location.

Food suffered with the chef trying to drown it in salt this week, last week food was nice and on my last night this week food was fantastic went to complain cause I hadn't eaten it and had a waitress say 'what a waste of food' I was so shocked by what she said I couldn't get my words together till she had walked away. Was woken by the window cleaner at 6.30am the week before and by staff shouting at delivery drivers at 6.30am this week. So my conclusion is whilst the reception staff seem nice the back of house staff just don't care. Don't expect an ale at the bar either cause there isn't any ale at all.

Attended a wedding and stayed over. Paid 89 for the room and got breakfast for the 5 of us included which was great value. Rooms clean and staff fabulous. They just struggled in the morning feeding everyone at breakfast and cod not cook it all quick enough. Other than that worth a stay.

Excellent from the moment we arrived. Check in was good. Room was away from any noise and the lift. Room was a good size with a view over the canal at the back. Staff were very pleasant and caring. Good parking.

Nice location. Very clean and tidy. Away from the road nice pool / gym definately worth considering if your in the area.

Left my pyjamas in my room. Room service kindly posted them back to me FOC! Otherwise very efficient hotel with a great breakfast and outlook into the canal.

Lovely staff who are are all very helpful, great cooked breakfasts — the rooms were very spacious and clean, beds lovely and comfortable too. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel with good facilities and friendly staff. Only let down by a lack of nearby places to eat/drink (walking distance). Ideal location for the nearby refinery that I visit a few times a year.

Standard IHG holiday inn, nice immediate location. Only a few points let it down, staff didn't seem to be about in the morning, had to go find people took the back to be served. Showhead was gunned up and looked like it had never been cleaned. Needed replacing. We'd go back, no real problems for the money.

Superb experinence. Clean, & stylish and friendly staff. One important point; please review your menu for contractors. Portions are so small they wouldnt fill a Starling. Dont get to clever with the menu. Men want burger and chips etc after a hard day/nights graft.

My family & I attended the Christmas party for the children. They met Santa had a two course meal, disco with party games & a fairly decent present off Santa. Very well organised, staff very helpful & professional, especially one of the staff Owen he was very helpful he offered to carry my drinks whilst I was struggling with bags ect also my little girl ran out of the main room & Owen helped me find her which put me at ease. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed themselves will definitely be going to the next one.

If your going to visit Chester go and stay at the Holiday Inn at Ellesmere port comfy beds brilliant breakfast lots of choice hot or cold you can have as much as you want. Well worth the stay.

As with all Holiday Inn hotels, generally 40% or more too expensive for the quality you get and the bar/food prices are just crazy. OK place to stay when need to but wallet shudders every time it comes through door with me.

Clean and good sized double room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful location next to the canal. Breakfast was tasty.

Visited for a wedding and stayed the night. Had a great time. Room had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. The bar area could of been cleaner especially the side surfaces.

Stayed for two weeks on a work trip. Beautiful surroundings being situated on the waterways. Resident swan to greet you at breakfast every morning. Staff were wonderful; friendly and efficient. Food was top quality at reasonable prices. Rooms were clean and functional with comfy beds and great pillows (choice of firm or soft). Really enjoyed my time here at the Holiday Inn.

Beautiful place to stay. The hotel is located on an island and is fully surrounded by water so nice view is guaranteed from every room! The rooms are clean, tidy & spacious and very comfortable. The service at the reception desk is 100%. Highly recommended.

Room was excellent 2 double beds and looking onto river nice view. Staff very friendly and nice swimming pool. Just 1 night stay but very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

Exactly what I expected, all facilities are available, work and the staff are incredibly helpful. Excellent customer service! Food is lovely, the setting is very special with swans and ducks just outside the windows. Beautiful location.

Great value for money, such friendly staff, newly refurbished room was wonderful, canal view… Delicious food (room service — recommend the gammon! ). Buffet breakfast was good — if you book at check-in it's cheaper. Lovely surroundings, easy access to the Motorway and a few minutes drive to Cheshire Oaks. The only downside is that transport is limited if you don't want to drive into town (taxi to Chester City is about £10). The Galley restaurant nearby is amazing! Highly recommended (we went twice for dinner) and only a minute walk from the hotel, if that!

First stay at a Holiday Inn was for a wedding. Friendly staff accommodated last minute change to vegan diet without prior notice for the meal. Nice rooms and a tasty breakfast buffet with a lot of choice. The hotel location is really nice, surrounded by water and canal boats with the marine museum right next door.

Location is a bit out of the way but I like that. Service is very good and the staff can't do enough to help you. Food at the restaurant is overpriced for what you get. Rooms are exactly what you expect and can't fault them.

We love this place! We have stayed here several times and every time is perfect. The staff are just fantastic and nothing is too much trouble especially if you have children. Not only that kids eat free!

I visited the lounge downstaira so this review is about that. A beautiful hotel interior provides a comfortable welcome to visitors. Good to relax in, have a drink, read the paper or play scrabble. The coffee was fine but sadly was not what we ordered. However, it was still delicious.

Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms and good food. The lounge facilities are also very welcoming have and are comfortable. Breakfast offered was a bit basic but I'm splitting hairs.

This is our fourth time staying at this hotel, as it is a convenient distance to drive to both Cheshire Oaks and Chester Zoo. Each visit has been relatively cheap for the area, and while parking at the hotel can be a little tricky at times and the overflow car park has often been required, the hotel more than makes up for it. The rooms are very spacious, typically including a large table and chairs, double bed, TV which is not locked (so you can use the HDMI ports) and all rooms have a bath in the en suite. The hot continental breakfast is cheap if prebooked, and is worth the money, although they do cook their poached eggs with vinegar, which is not to my taste. There is nothing particularly exciting about it but you do get to enjoy views of the canal and ducks, swans and other waterbirds as you eat. This is an excellent hotel for the area.
