So the husb brought me for a surprise night away. We spent our wedding night here in 2013. We had a wonderful evening, the food was AMAZING (best onion soup EVER! ), bar ambiance bubbly without being loud, our room was beautiful and spotless. The staff work really hard and are delightful — special mention to Laura who tolerated us remarkably well…………

We called in for lunch while visiting in the area great choice on the menu, we had the sandwiches with chips and coleslaw excellent and the service was good too very friendly and helpful waiter. Would definitely visit again.

Had my first take away Sunday dinner yesterday from The Badger, it was amazing and worth every penny of the £10.

We've just had 4 takeaway Sunday roast dinners from the Badger Inn and honestly can't reccomend them highly enough! As always, fantastic and friendly service, everything was covid secure and delicious food. Thank you again.

Just had a takeaway Sunday lunch and it was amazing! Both the beef and the chicken were great. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was absolutely delicious as well. Thank you for making a lockdown sunday that little bit more bareable.

Lovely food great pub the staff are brilliant.

Nice location, friendly staff however had the salt and pepper chicken wings, presentation was good but the wings just tasted boiled with very little taste.
The main meal was better, the wife had the steak ciabatta which was excellent and I had the fish pie with vegetables which was okay.
Total bill with 2 drinks came to just under £37 so not too bad and in fairness left feeling full.
Worth a visit.

My wife and I had dinner at the Badger tonight. Lovely food and two charming young waitresses. The barman was very friendly too.

Kev the manager is a nice friendly helpful chap and the staff are to. Nice food in a family oriented place. Thankyou and we will be back.

I was lucky enough to win a voucher for Tuesday’s burger and pudding offer which was fabulous. I had the Mexican burger which was just spicy enough especially washed down with badger bitter. Mil had a chicken burger which was also delicious. Portions were very generous and it was tricky fitting in the puddings! Thanks for your hospitality.

Superb food, excellent service and a great range of ales and stouts not to mention the lovely garden. It's a 10 from me!

The Badger is very nice. Would have liked a bottle of water and perhaps some cotton wool in the room. Have paid less on a similar room with quite a lot of extras, but would certainly stay again.

My husband and I stayed here over night in the king suite. The jacuzzi at the end of the bed was amazing! Very comfy bed. The room is humongous and exceptionally clean and to a high standard! The staff and service we received was amazing, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We had a three course meal on the evening and a breakfast the next day. All meals were excellent and plentiful. Over all, our stay has been fantastic and worth every penny.

Loverly place, food outstanding, was empty when we went but had to wait ages between courses? Food worth the wait tho, nice pint of San Miguel too.

The Badger Inn succeeded in so many ways. Good size car park, great staff, and congenial surroundings. Really tasty food, what there was of it, and therein was the problem. And it's the same in most pubs. Call your pub a gastro pub and serve starters for main meals at main meal prices… you can't go wrong… except that I never return. A shame.

What a beautiful and welcoming place. There was a great selection of local ales on tap, the food was nice, the staff were friendly and the place has a quintessential English feel to it. The beer garden is beautifully presented and welcomes dogs. Great place, will be back again.

Been a few times and always been good. Staff are lovely and food is great. They are willing to make changes to your plate when you ask. Would recommend to anyone.

My partner ate 3 starters a main and then 2 deserts not before debating on another main. Food was amazing staff were excellent. Room is amazing will definitely come again.

Peaceful and tranquil what more can you want. Excellent food with an extensive choice of beers, wines and spirits all reasonably priced. Rooms are immaculate and have quality furniture and furnishings. Breakfast was very tasty with quality ingredients. Would recommend for either a meal or a night away.

Our opinion of The Badger has changed. We loved it it was a 5 star eatery but today's visit was definitely 2 star a very long wait for main courses and a long wait for 2 sweets; ice-cream and a chocolate brownie and warm choc sauce… The main course portion-sizes were small for £13.00 each approx and we could not choose where to sit in an uncrowded restaurant! When we asked for a jug of water it was provided but only after being asked if we would like to order more drinks from the bar! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We took a friend who we thought would enjoy the experience however he was quite unimpressed! It used to be a great place to eat and socialize; we are sad that it has become a place that we will think twice about before we visit again…

A lovely place to stay in the heart of Cheshire. Staff friendly and welcoming, we arrived at a busy lunch time on a Saturday but say down and had a drink whilst waiting, I do not drink alcohol and they had a very good choice of non alcoholic drinks including wines. Our room was clean and functional the bathroom was on the small size but again spotless only thing I would have preferred a grab rail in the shower. Also the stairs to the rooms are a little steep and may be a little difficult if you have mobility issues. Putting these minor things aside a really nice place to stay the restaurant is lovely and the food too quality and very tasty, recommend the fish sharing platter as a starter. Also the breakfast the following morning was lovely he best tasting cooked breakfast I have ever had, they do walk in for the breakfast if your in the area well worth a visit. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Nice sitting outside in the Sun nice simple menu for lunch if your outside sandwiches etc. Extended menu inside nice place in a rural location recommended.

Booked a meal for 4.20. We arrived at 4.00. Asked if we would like a drink until the table was ready. Stood at the bar with drink not asked if we would like to sit down. We decided to sit at a table to wait to be called. At 4.50 I asked staff if our t able was ready. She looked very confused but did apologise for our wait. We sat down and waited but had to request for menus. I asked for the fish platter for one with a portion of chips. My husband had battered houloumi with chips. When it arrived the fish goujons. And white bait were lukewarm and I had to ask for my chips. A very disappointing lunch as we usually go to the Plough at Whitegates where the food and staff are excellent.

I suggested this pub for my partner and son to visit on mothers day as I couldn't attend, she has just returned and is so dissappointed with the whole experience as the food was not pleasant and the stuffing like bullets. The staff were shuffling the menus and not doing anything taking 15 minutes to serve 2 cokes in a halve empty pub they had no idea and the whole experience was very upsetting on mothers day never again.

Good choice on the menu. Separate vegetarian section. Children's menu is a bit expensive. Good service. Nice atmosphere.

A good chef with a matching menu. Good service with a welcoming atmosphere. Customers can be accompanied by their dogs but in a restricted area.

Very good food, Very unusual for a pub to also do take away Food but you can get home made pie and chips or Fish and chips Very reasonable price, Great real Ale also a great restaurant all round a great pub to put on your list to visit.

Just went for a quiet drink, I was impressed. Even though it was busy it didn't really feel like it. Cosy with a good selection of beers and wines?

Good food, with prompt service. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon having been turned away from a couple of other places because they were too full. We were sat straight away and served quickly by some pleasant waiters. The food was good, with large portions, I opted for the turkey roast, they were also happy dealing with my fairly difficult dietary requirements. The beer select was decent, three casks ales at the time (two of which I tried and were nice) with four generic speed taps. The price was fair, costing around £30 for two to eat full meals with a round of drinks each. I definitely recommend it and be sure to be going back.

Arrived for a snack, with my wife and our dogs, so sat outside. There was a smell, from possibly a septic tank which was quite unpleasant! I ordered nachos with cheese and no jalapeño peppers, and a soup of the day (cauliflower). The soup arrived, which was as thick as porridge and my wife commented "love me baby food", so not pleasant. The nachos with cheese, couldn't find the cheese and the chilli was very overwhelming as red hot with chilli peppers, did ask for no peppers! So not a great experience.

Have been countless times and never been disappointed with the food. Good hearty pub grub. Only recommendation would be for the menu to change more often.

Arrived for an early quick dinner (6pm). Service was very slow and poor even though the pub was half empty and there plenty of staff milling about. Waiting 40 minutes for a chicken kiev and a chicken burger isn't acceptable and when the food arrived there was no apology. Burger was very dry and with a stale toasted bun, no sauce or relish on it so it was very dry. Was described as a butterflied chicken breast but it was a crispy breaded piece of chicken and I paid extra for bacon which was a crispy, processed piece of dry streaky bacon — not fresh. All in all, very difficult to eat. Didn't feel welcomed or comfortable there at all and we were glad to leave such an unfriendly place. Safe to say we won't be back!

Good menu and decent vegetarian options. Dogs only allowed in the tap room which is a pity as there are low bar tables only and our seems cut off from the ambience of the main pub. The service was slow but friendly and we would visit again.

Called in on Sunday mid afternoon, not ben for at least 12 months as last time was poor, We had not booked, we asked for a table of two and were told there would be a 15 minute wait so we asked for a menu so we could be ready, it never came. 20 minutes later we were shown to our table in the sun in the window on a very hot day, I asked to be moved as we had seen 4-5 free tables for two available (not sure why we had to wait) and yes we had a table of our choice? anyway we only ordered mains only, me and the wife both had the lamb sunday lunch and when they arrived I looked at mine and I only had 1 small piece of lamb and my wife had 3 big pieces? I also only had a teaspoon on mash potato and my wife had quite a much larger serving? I also only had 1 little finger size of cabbage where as again my wife had about 20 pieces? so I called the waiter and asked him what had happened to my servings, he looked and said yes that is not right (no joke) so he did fetch me some more of the above. The meal itself was rather poor in taste, seasoning, warmth overall quality, My lamb after having 3 more pieces added was 90% fat and gristle, now I know lamb is fatty but this was exceptional and both mine and the wife roast potatoes were like bullets, I mean you struggled to cut them hence we both left them along with other items paid the bill and will never return again. Not sure how this place has decent reviews? overall not good.

Not very good. Booked for 8 30pm didn't get a table till about 9 30 by this time we were really hungry. Didn't get an apology. So ratings zero.

Had a lovely meal at Christmas, the food was freshly cooked and delicious. I love the decor and the staff are welcoming and nothing's too much trouble.

Just stopped on the near by canal during a boating holiday, it's a 3min walk from the canal and remember a torch, road is very busy. Food was delicious with a great specials menu, beer was just as good. A definite recommended watering hole for the tired canal boater.

Excellent choice of food, generous portions and more restaurant quality than plain pub grub, washed down with a selection of real ales, and all in great company (and the chairs were comfy! ) Not the quickest, but then we weren't in a hurry, nor in McD's!

Good food, but let down somewhat by the average service. Nothing serious, but slow to clear tables, slow to return with bill and take payment etc. Good pub grub though and clearly doing something right as it was very busy with a good atmosphere!

Just had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The staff were very good and the food was delicious. The landlord/manager was very accommodating as he was fully booked for the evening but still managed to find us a table for 5. Fully recommend the pub.

One of the best meals I have ever had. The whole family loved it too. Kids ate everything (which NEVER happens). Fast service, very clean toilets. Staff very friendly. I shall be returning again. Highly recommend.

Had a really nice afternoon at the badger 27-5-13 drinks and food where fantastic all I can say is one off the waiters. Was very unprofessional as I found him walking around severing drinks and food with sun glasses s on As I found all the other staff where very professional this let the place down very much I would come again to eat and drink I always give places a second chance The only reason im giving an excellent for the service is the staff and manager where very hight class just the one thing that let this place down.

We visited the Badger Inn on the 19th of June 2012, as a stop on our boating holiday. We happened upon it, only to escape Middlewich, but we're very pleased that we did. The food quality is very good; the potted crab and shrimp platter is a must. Our waitress was very polite and attentive, without being irritating. However, as we arrived later in the evening, and she left after our deserts, leaving us with a rather terse young waiter. There are a good range of cask ales, although I would have liked to see some dry ciders on offer. The bill was delivered in a small, but ornate box, and which was a lovely touch. We were certainly impressed, and will be visiting again tonight on our return journey.
