Came here for the weekend 14/05/21 The hotel was lovely and very clean and the bed was so comfy highly recommend, hotel was right in the centre of everything, staff were also helpful and chatty Room 122

Lovely historic hotel in the heart of Chester. Comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. Great service throughout.

Sadly first stay and cold water for our stay hence not being able to bath or shower Big heater in room didn’t work so used the main heating from stat in room Breakfast was good and plenty Rooms need a refurb and the bedsheet was very thin could see Mateus The hotel is right in centre of town to everything.

Lovely afternoon tea with my husband today, would definitely recommend it, Stephie was brilliant & looked after us from the minute we arrived till we walked out the door.

Booked 3 deluxe executive rooms for 1 night, sadly we checked in after 9pm so hadn't seen the rooms and been able to check right back out again. Sent sample photos to customer service to give an opportunity to respond 8 days later still no response. 1 bathroom was unusable. Really advise you to stop at an alternative premises, go for a 2 star as it will be better than the New Blossom. room 1 Bathroom floor had not been mopped Dirty/pink Staining to grout in bathroom floor Stained/dirty grout in shower cubicle Mucus (snot on curtains! ) Large stain to carpet Missing Hot/cold indicators on taps Dust debris on window cills room 2 Ripped net curtains Staining to grout in bathroom floor Stained/dirty grout bath, dirty bath Chipped bath surfaces. Bath area dirty – not fit for use had been completely missed being cleaned.

Stayed over for one night on Saturday 11th December, the staff are lovely, rooms are okay (ish) would of expected a little more for £160. Had a terrible nights sleep xonstant loud music playing from the club under the hotel and there are 3 other clubs and bars attached to it… if your looking for a peaceful night away I wouldn't bother!

Really friendly staff, excellent room.

All the staff were 100%, nothing too much trouble. Food was good, room comfortable. The air con was out but should be done next week. I have direct numbers to make next booking, hopefully it won't be too long. Thank you so much to the staff who worked so hard in sweltering conditions.

We booked and paid in full for a stay on which should have been our wedding day at the end of sept! Just happened to walk past hotel 3 weeks before we were due to arrive and the whole place was closed and in darkness. I emailed/called numerous times with no response! I finally got through to head office and was assured it would be open on the 14th sept! I then received a generic email stating they weren’t reopening until October and there would be no refund only a date change! Thankfully booking. Com agreed with me and got me my money back.

I'm here now. Fantastic apart from not enough plug sockets in our room.

Lovely stay in the Rose Suite — the room and staff are fabulous — definitely come back time and time again.

Well done to the staff that allowed their defibrillator to be taken to aid a very sick man at the Grosvenor Shopping Centre. Particularly poignant given that the Grosvenor Hotel (just 20m away from the sick man) had refused use of theirs.

Comfortable, relaxing centre of Chester location. Friendly, helpful staff. Just what you would hope for after a busy day.

Lovely hotel, very helpful staff, especially the young guy on reception. Down side is you have to park in the shopping centre car park which is difficult to navigate to and from the hotel and if u are carrying bags, clean shirts and a laptop is no joke.

The staff are friendly and helpful. We booked through hotels. Com & had a good deal. You get what you pay for which was a small room with little natural light.

Positives all Staff were very pleasant and helpful and rooms were clean. Location is perfect.
Fan supplied was dusty and grubby.
Loud music until 4am from club under and opposite the hotel.
Lack of sockets in bedrooms and none near the bed so the fan was useless as it was so far from the bed.
Rooms need to be modernised.
Breakfast was disappointing, had to ask staff to replenish the plates, orange juice, juice glasses, yogurt and fruit! jam and honey in bowls is just messy and doesn't work also the butter with tongs is just messy also.
Bread had to be toasted twice as toaster was temperamental.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel, Staff where very helpful and friendly. Rooms where clean, tidy, modern and spacious and the food was nice. Everything is on the doorstep from shops to pubs. I am looking forward to going back at the end of this month and enjoying my stay again.

The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are very friendly helpful and polite and it's really close to everything that we needed and very very reasonably priced.

Listed as a 4 star hotel however our room was nowhere near 4 star more like 2 star. Room was in a bad need of upgrading as very dated and worn. Disappointed.

Very disappointed with this hotel. Where do I start!
On arrival at 3 pm check in time when according to their website rooms should be ready so we were told your room will be ready in a few minutes. An hour later with no update which I did ask for twice and no drink or anything to compensate our room was ready at 4.10pm! Once inside the room it was not completely ready at all one of of the twin beds was not made properly there was also a rip in the bed sheet, no refills of anything either. After watching Tom Jones in concert which was a special birthday treat for my mum for the second time as he cancelled so our second visit to Chester we returned to the hotel to have the most horrendous nights sleep due to a nightclub across the road, banging music until 3pm!
The morning cooked breakfast was no better in fact extremely disappointing there was not enough at the continental buffet if you wanted one and I did hear complaints from other guests about it and then when after about 25 minutes the English cooked breakfast finally arrived I got two extremely overcooked poached eggs on my plate. When I mentioned it to the waiter to tell the chef he said ok I will tell him, the reply I got was “The chef said where are you sat! ” Obviously they thought it was funny and no offer of a new egg!
A 4 star hotel is is definitely not in my opinion not even a 2 star we will never be going back!

Staff were great and during the day the location is good being close to the city centre for shopping and the parks/river for a please the walk. However, during the night, there was loud music somewhere outside that was going on till about 4 in the morning and the secondary glazing was not very effective at blocking it out. The cooked breakfast in the morning was very small and not very well cooked containing a lot of salt. The continental buffet also left a lot to be desired. I have stayed in a lot of 3 star hotels that were much more comfortable and they cost a lot less.

Located in the center of the city, built by the Romans 2000 years ago, the location is excellent, only 40 rooms. The equipment is a rare novelty, a good suite with a bathtub. Surprised by the periphery of 10 minutes walk to the ancient Roman Arena (7, 000 seats) and the remains of the bath, it is worth a few more days to stay at the elegant hotel.

Lovely hotel but I booked a executive double room as a surprise for my husband as it’s his birthday Sunday it’s the first time we’ve stayed in Chester. After being given our key we got to room 313 went to put air conditioneing on and it’s not working I called reception and was told all rooms have none theirs a fan in the wardrobe. I’m guessing this is a on going problem at this hotel. No a good start to a two day break we alway stay at a MacDonald’shotel we we can afford to Mrs j Jaques/ wright.

I stayed here for a two week business trip and therefore we'll accustomed to the absolutely awful customer service. Breakfast kitchen service frequently takes over 40 minutes from order to delivery even when there are just a few people dining. Secondly it is the same careless staff serving. Rooms are dirty with little attention to cleanliness, particularly excessive dust on fans net curtains. Towel rarely got exchanged too. Windows openings are limited and with no air-conditioning, the rooms are too hot. In summary, location is excellent but the hotel is in a degraded state and poor customer service. Stay elsewhere is my advice.

The hotel is very nice. But the room was too hot no a. C. And I think in was above the kitchen aswell, didn't get much sleep. Service was a little slow in restaurant at dinner and breakfast. But the food was amazing. reception staff very pleasant, information in rooms not so great. but it does have a good location in the center of town make a it ideal location for business or sight seeing.

Very disappointing stay from start to finish. Booked an executive room which was nothing at all like the pictures displayed on their website of these type of rooms. It was basically the standard room but with a bigger bed only. Went to the bar for a drink at ten to five and nobody serving, after standing there for over ten minutes had to go to reception to ask them to locate somebody who could serve drinks. Fire alarm went off at approx 6.20a. M which obviously is not the hotels fault however the management of the situation was appalling, the building was not evacuated and guests were being informed by other guests not to leave the hotel as they had been told the hotel were just going to switch the alarm off, absolute shambles and not a single staff member in sight advising guests, god forbid this had been a real fire! Arrived for breakfast at 8.30 to a sign stating no hot breakfast. We were not offered any explanation regarding why and can only assume this was related to the earlier fire alarm.
We had booked here for a very rare night together as husband and wife without our children to celebrate my 40th birthday and this hotel has spoilt that for us completely. Would advise anybody considering to book here not to bother, you would have a much better stay I am sure by staying in the Travelodge down the road.

We have had no end of trouble with our bookings and payments. My son was charged twice for his room. When we went to the residents bar there was no wine that we ordered, no ginger beer, no lemonade and no ice. For each of these items the one member of staff on duty had to walk to another part of the hotel to get it and we couldn't order any food. On Sunday morning we had to wait 40 minutes for our food. Overall for a quality hotel I'm not impressed.

The location is great but the service isn't great. We asked for an upgrade but didn't get it (not a freebie but paid) The rooms have not been dusted in years, you can see this clearly on the lightbulbs and the fans in the rooms. Also this is evident in the bar because you can see where bottles used to be on the glass shelves due to dust — this is poor management and supervision. If you can put up with the dirt then it is a fantastic location for Chester center.

My partner, myself and our four month old stayed here 26th May 2018. Whilst the Hotel room 122 was lovely, and spacious (also somewhat a bit dusty) it wasn't practical for a baby/ pram due to the stairs, it took for the maintenance gentleman to realise this before the reception staff. He had asked if we could be swapped rooms to be told no as there were no rooms available. The bed was very comfortable however the description stated a Kingsize bed but in reality was two singles pushed together. The hotel were made aware a month earlier that a baby would be attending with us so I would have expected a room with easy access. The Entrance to the hotel too is a nightmare with around 13/14 steps to reach reception so I wouldn't class the hotel as wheelchair/ pram friendly, and with no help offered from reception either when seen to be struggling.
We also was never made aware a nightclub/bar was underneath the hotel itself, had I have known this we probably wouldn't have stayed.
We were told we had booked a room with a view however the only view we had was the riot vans out the front, a CCTV camera right outside the window an a view of couple of high street shops.
Could I say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, no. Would I stay again, most likely not. Would I have paid the price I had, Absolutely not.

Excellent location clean and comfortable hotel fantastic breakfast will definitely be back.

Room was passable, but overly hot. Breakfast was a joke — we gave up and went to Carluccio's. We won't stay here again.

The staff were lovely. You get charged for drinks in their bar as you do in their restaurant! I think its a forgotten Macdonald hotel, as dated a bit.

I attended the macdonald new blossoms for a meeting with colleagues. It was an all day event. When I arrived there was no formal notification for the meeting so I had to ask at reception for the room. I was given polite instructions by staff and found the room easily. Before entering tea and coffee where provided with croissants and cinnamon swirls. The room was spacious and well laid out. For lunch was dined at the steakhouse restaurant located on site. The food was lovely and the staff helpful however I felt there could have been better choice. The afternoon session provided more of the same and overall was a good day.

The good: It was priced very reasonably for a weekend break in Chester and the room (excluding the bathroom — see below) was comfortable. The included cooked breakfast was also reasonable. The not so good: The bathroom was like an ice box despite having a radiator with a warning that it could get very hot (it never did). We borrowed an electric fire but the cable wasn't long enough so we then had to ask for an extension lead. When the fuse blew on that we gave up. We left the bathroom door open and the heat from the bedroom was just about enough for the bathroom not to feel like we were camping. That said, the front desk staff were helpful and did their best to help with the bathroom issue. However, at breakfast on the Sunday the woman in charge of taking us to a table was a bit snotty when I later asked whether we could order our cooked breakfast: she gave the impression it was below her station. But I think this is sadly a function of how some Brits view working in the service industries, and we thought it rather funny. Eventually someone else came over to take our order. The music choice at breakfast was also rather odd (pop from the 60s and 70s including The Doors) and not really the kind of soothing musack one normally gets in hotels. A bit jarring and intrusive when you're waking up! The hotel itself is well-located near to the centre of Chester but feels a little tired and old-fashioned so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for somewhere a bit upmarket.

This was our second visit to this hotel and unfortunately this time around we were very disappointed! Having paid extra to have an executive king room we were very happy with the quality of the room the downside was being at the front of the hotel and despite being on the second floor hearing the music in the basement club word for word! Going outside to smoke is only at the front of the hotel among the party goers in their drunken finery! Breakfast this time around on both mornings was frankly disorganised and not worth the money! Waiting on staff were slowly clearing tables whilst guests were waiting to be seated, the spread was fairly good until you received the mediocre cooked breakfast. Day 2 and the standards had dropped even further! 1 piece of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, half a tomato and 1 mushroom along with a shrivelled up hash brown the size of a 10p was quite frankly not worth the money! Don't know what has happened in the past 12 months but after staying in various McDonald's resort hotels over the years this place needs to get it's act together!

Very nice hotel in the middle of Chester with super nice staff delicious breakfast and a super pub right next to it.

Lovely place to sit for an hour or so without being pestered by anyone — sat in bar area for about 73 minutes without seeing a single member of staff. Comfy seats and jolly decent toilets.

I was attending for a wedding reception. I found the staff very welcoming. The building was beautiful and the service was great. I would be very tempted to stay there as a guest in the future.

A beautiful hotel in the heart of Chester, not long been updated. The bedroom we stayed in was contemporary and very smart. All the fixtures and fittings were new, exciting and innovative. The food was excellent, piping hot and delicious. The vegetarian options were exciting. All the staff were efficient, friendly and cheerful, nothing was too much trouble. We had a disabled accessible room, with lowered bath and rubber mat and disabled toilet. The lift was next to our room.

Nice comfy room. Slightly disappointed with breakfast. Perhaps they thought I needed to lose weight and scrimped…

Staff friendly, breakfast good and riom comfortable but I founf the room very noisy. It sounds like other guests are actually in your room with the creaking floorboards and worst of all there was the bass and drum of dance music until tge early hours. I asked about this the next morning (the receptionist didn't ask how I'd slept or how my stay was I noted) and was told that there were many nightclubs nearby. However I think the issue is there's a late bar in the basement of the hotel. I would avoid this hotel if travelling for work again, but it's ideal if you're going clubbing!

Overnight stay here wish I had stayed longer comfortable hotel and very clean. Very present staff. had a very nice breakfast. would stay here again was value for money.

My WORST hotel experience ever. Firstly the room was not ready I'm time despite accepting an advance request for early check-in. The front desk staff was uncourteous. There was a layer of dust in the room. My little baby tried to touch the local guides and I realized they were coated with at least 2 mm of dust. The duvet cover had hair, carpet threads and of course dust. The bed had bugs, I spotted live pests on the towels supplied by the hotel. The toilet was low on supplies which were not refilled over three days. However, there were half used shampoo bottles in there. No faces towels, no bath robes. The washbasin was full of water and the previous guest's shaving foam when I entered. Toilet bin was not emptied, water bottles not replaced. Room heating could not be controlled for individual rooms, which is fine, but despite being from a torrid country, I was sweating in the duvet. On request for another duvet, they didn't have any solution. Despite booking a higher end room with king bed, I got a room overlooking the utility area with two single beds joined. The toilet was so small that I couldn't enter while holding the baby. Funnily, Me and my husband had to pass her from in between the wash basin and the door! If I try to mention something nice about the stay, I can only say, great location.

Quite a few issues with this Hotel. Good location but the room on the 2nd floor was like a sauna with no heating on and window open. Had the fan on all night but still sweltered. Good service from the receptionist who moved us to a room with aircon — although he did try to get me to pay £20 to upgrade to an executive suite! — can't blame him for trying. New room was fine but Both rooms had badly stained carpets. Service at breakfast was very poor and cooked breakfast took ages to arrive and some items were stone cold. Second pot of coffee like rocket fuel & no toast to eat my poached eggs with! Only 2 small mushrooms & 1/2 black pudding! No restaurant manager to keep things moving, tables cleared etc. Also there had been a mixup & our room was ticked as if we had already had breakfast. On checking out we were billed for 2 mornings of breakfast which we didn't have — £25 extra. Receptionist quite insistent and we had to show her exactly what we had booked on-line. She did concede in the end. My advice — don't take a room Without air con and get breakfast elsewhere. In addition, I enjoy piano music as much as anyone but it plays constantly in reception and gets on your nerves after a while.

Old building with fairly updated rooms. One of world's smallest lift. But the biggest selling point is the friendly and helpfull staffs. Decent breakfast. Very near to shops and restaurants. If possible, don't take rooms near to foregate st as the guests at pubs nearby tend to hang around there and shouting and fighting are a usual thing at 3am or close the windows. Overall nice stay. Would definitely book again if in town.

The location of the hotel was absolutely perfect! Room was very nice also and the staff were also very helpful and friendly. The food was OK, I would advise the short walk up the street to try some local restaurants.

Nice bedroom, although it was a little warm! Staff were friendly and don't seem pretentious. Only downside I would say it that staying towards the back of the hotel, Seagulls woke us up as early as 7.30 and struggled to get to sleep thereafter. Very noisy birds, but I can't speak for other room — — our room seemed to be close to where they congregated.

They gave me a room upgrade when I arrived. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The interior is a bit dated, which isn't for me but that's just preference.

Beautiful hotel right in the centre of Chester. Everything is in walking distance. The hotel itself is a lovely old building and the staff were wonderful. My only criticism is that the double rooms are a little on the small side.

Staff look after you well, very nice. Decor and cleanliness are very good. Breakfast food was really really good. Nice bar with delicious cocktails. Very good location.

Don't go here if you value your sleep! First night facing the street, all we heard was loud shouting throughout the night, followed by 4am police arrests. Asked to move rooms, to have the most uncomfortable bed, with a bedside alarm that kept going off, even when unplugged (we hadn't set it). I need a holiday from this place!

My family stayed at the Blossoms hotel over the weekend for my daughters 21st and we all had a great time. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly and the hotel itself was wonderful. I can't understand the bad reviews on some sites the hotel receives because I would noy hesitate to stay there again.

I am surprised by the reviews I have read. We were recently in Chester dropping off my granddaughter at University and had an evening meal which was excellent, As a group of five we had different items on the menu all very tasty and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. In my opinion it was also reasonably priced.

Me my partner was really looking forward to our night away and was really let down by things not working and having to pay extra for breakfast when wasnt stated we had to pay £25 on top off the £180 we had already payed for the room, also wasnt told about the road works at the time we spent half an hour driving around to get to the hotel. Once we arrived at the hotel we was then told we had to park in the main car park which belong to another hotel costing another £10 over all just wasnt happy with hotel.

I stayed here a short time ago and what a total let down. I have stayed in many of the hotels in Chester due to attending various race days and so I feel I have a good understanding of the standards Chester offer in connection to hotels. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Top notch. That is exactly where the TOP NOTCH stops. The rooms were average, no jaw droppers. The food and drink was extremely over priced, but I have to say, by far the area of great disbelief was how extremely bad the service was. The reception staff were at best rude. They were busy and so the unprofessional inexperienced receptionists they had become rude, uncooperative and just plain awkward. The race days have a tendency to increase the rates by over 100%, however they fail to understand that people don't want to book in at 2pm when racing starts at 12pm. They can not cater for early arrival which is what most of the guests want on race days. The hotel is happy to except double money but not happy to accommodate early arrival. The response from receptionist was a very rude 'you will have to wait until after 2pm'. Can they not understand that to allow people to attend the races they need to facility early arrival as after 2pm check in means you won't get to the races until around 3pm, which any visitor to the races knows that the day is then nearly over. Extremely unaccommodating and ridiculously high prices. Never again.

Excellent hotel and fair vale for money except when it comes to food and drink which is grossly overpriced vs. Local competitors (ie pubs/cafes etc). They wished to charge my wife and I £17.50/each for breakfast before the £5 discount and we ate our fill a 5 minute walk away for less than 1/2 the discounted price for one of us. Otherwise good value for money. BTW the lift was terribly small.

I was offered a discount for prepaying and then later learned that two of my business colleagues were given a greater discount without prepaying. They were given heated rooms and I was in a room in which the windows did not latch shut and the heat was not turned on. I complained but the heat was not turned on until my 5th day's stay. I requested an extra blanket and was given a mattress pad. I requested a wake-up call each morning and only received one on 2 out 6 mornings. I've stayed here many times, but will not do it again.
