Lovely hotel, brilliant professional staff, nothing is to much trouble for them. Would highly recommend.

Centrally situated in Chester offering excellent service with seating in pleasant surroundings. Staff here are above average and very welcoming. May I suggest their chunky chips soup and bread rolls. Cakes an indulgence worth every calorie.

I can recommend room 148 beautiful nights sleep it’s spacious and comfortable, lunch was lovely, all staff were attentive and friendly, spa was excellent and again staff attentive. Easy access to everything, parking easy and convenient cost £10 for 24hrs. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Amazing customer service all round. Very spacious, comfortable room with settee, armchair and very large comfortable bed. Room service very efficient and breakfast was excellent. Full English was amazing, all local produce.

An incredible hotel with thoughtful staff. From the large comfortable suites, to the luxury bath products on offer, the spa and the staff we genuinely couldn’t have asked for anything more. We have stayed at this hotel a few times now and couldn’t recommend it enough. Can’t wait to come back.

Wonderful 5 star place friendly staff.

We stayed at the hotel on the 19th March for 1 night. Lovely evening & the staff were extremely polite/helpful. However after we have left the hotel you have taken further funds from my partners account without any consent or notification from you. We paid for a meal and rather than pay the 10% service charge we gave the waitress a cash tip. We advised the waitress we would rather give her a tip directly which we were advised was okay. When we left the hotel all we had owing was the payment for the breakfast which we signed for. You have since gone in and taken the service charge without any notice and without consent. This is a discretionary charge only and we won’t be staying here again in the future. Disgusting treatment.

It’s just such a nice experience as soon as you enter the beautiful building, the staff are all so friendly attentive and professional but without fawning, we’ve stayed at the hotel on several occasions over the years as a treat for special occasions.
We couldn’t recommend the Grosvenor highly enough.

Surprise birthday present from my husband who managed to keep it a total secret. Thank you to all the amazing staff who made our stay so magical.

We were treated to champagne afternoon tea, gorgeous champagne, delicious finger sandwiches, mini scones and a selection of small cakes, proper loose leaf tea and plenty of it. Amazing service in a lovely comfortable room.

I would like to than the Grosvenor staff for a wonderful welcome, fantastic food and service at lunch today! My eldest stated that the burger was the best that he had ever tasted!

We had a midweek luxury break as a treat for our birthdays. Absolutely fabulous set up. The Staff made it a real memorable experience. Great service. The Restaurant was also very special. Again the service was outstanding.

Amazing hotel, so luxurious. Staff are so attentive and helpful. Stayed for my husband’s 60th, it was so special.

Had tea in the bar lounge yesterday, the pianist was playing it made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. The service was exemplary as always with very polite and correct staff. Our light meal was excellent, looking forward to Sunday 16th for our Christmas lunch.

I wanted to book a couple spa treatments today… but the spa closed even though the brochure had times that said it was still open. Even after talking with the front desk to arrange an appointment, I was asked to call tomorrow. As a 5 star hotel… this is unacceptable. Also, I expected a bigger telly with 4k capability.

Stayed in a suite absolutely lovely. Also had the Simon Radley taster menu for the second time. Couldn't fault this yet again. Perfection on a plate. Many plates actually. Well recommended. We have been coming to Chester for 35 years and over this period the Grosvenor has remained the focal point. We always promised ourselves a stay so we did it and we are so pleased that we did. Staff were lovely to a man / woman and the atmosphere is pure quality but not stuffy. Fantastic!

Spent a night in one of the suites and it really nice. Great view of the Cathedral out of the window. Everyone is very welcoming from the doorman, receptionists to the catering team. Very clean room and nice comfy bed, basically you get what you pay for when you spend £300+ on a room per night.

We’ve stayed here a few time but never managed to write a review. This is definitely the best hotel in Chester. The rooms are beautiful in every categories. Lovely toiletries and lovely bed linen. The staff complete this hotel EVERYONE is so friendly and helpful. The hotels bar has a nice vibe in the evening. Don’t miss out on the breakfast. Thanks to the lovely young waitress who brought me out a cupcake when my partner mentioned it was my birthday in passing. Look forward to returning next month.

Went to the Spa with my daughter. The Thermal suite was fabulous. But you do only get a small amount of time in there as it’s quite small. The Grosvenor does not have a pool which I did miss if I’m honest. The relaxation room is just gorgeous. I have to say all the staff are so welcoming, polite, efficient and helpful. I had a Hot Stone Massage and have to say it was something special. I had a lovely lady called Emily and she was absolutely amazing. She knew exactly what to do. I would definitely recommend her. I felt wonderful. Thank you.

Went for my birthday weekend to Chester. Always call in the Grosvenor for a cocktail or two or afternoon tea & its part of every visit to Chester with my family. Myself & my Husband called in for a drink whilst shopping & I had a Grosvenor iced tea & Husband had a beer. I always used to love Grosvenor iced tea but its been off the menu for some time so ive had a traditional long island iced tea on recent visits. I remarked to waiter how I used to love your version (no coke but pink champagne instead) & how they didnt do it anymore. He informed me that the lady on the bar had worked there for quite a while & could probably do me one. I was overjoyed that she did remember them & made me one… so much so that I ordered one for my Husband too. I was enjoying it so much that I asked the waiter to thank her for making it! I then spilt quite a bit of it on my dress. I realise this was my fault but its easily done with the shape of a traditional wide cocktail glass… I asked him for a wet cloth to wipe myself to which he obliged. I was surprised & disappointed not to be offered a replacement or top up. Even if half a measure out of courtesy. I even joked about how much id been enjoying it & whether he could get me a replacement. He said he'd "see what he could do" we waited & waited… even paid the bill & he didnt respond. My Husband said we needed to leave & asked him if he had managed to sort a replacement… to which we were told. ". Sorry no.

Only stayed 1 night but the room, service and overall ambience were excellent. Just perfect for a short escape in one of our favourite cities. Thank you Grovenor staff!

An excellent oppulant hotel in the town centre. The hotel is in itself an attraction and blends in with the history. The service is excellent and the highlight here. They catered for every need and were exceedly courteous. The rooms themselves are a tad underwhelming given the rest of the hotel but perfectly comfy. The continental breakfast is decadent and will also be a fond memory. A hotel certainly worth staying in though don't look at this as a budget experience. Driving in the town centre is restricted but you can gain entry to the hotel by speaking to the guards on the barriers, you can then drive direct to the hotel for valet parking.

Our daughter had got us a Champagne afternoon tea. Absolutely wonderful food and service. Relaxed, no rushing and a very lovely lady that looked after us.

Following a meal we went for drinks in the bar of the Grosvenor. The bar staff were attentive even creating a cocktail bespoke for my wife. Brilliant night.

Once again I enjoyed the Grosvenor spa and lunch. What a treat! Jamie is an excellent masseur and gave me a combined facial/massage. The facilities are small but beautifully designed. Never fails to impress.

Amazing stay. We initially went for the gin tasting, Danny the gin expert was brilliant, then decided to stop over. Fantastic staff that can't do enough for you in the most amazing and luxurious surrounding.

Your luggage is taken up to your room whilst you check-in and your car is chauffeured to the car park — a very nice welcome. In comparison to the lobby, however, our room wasn't as spectacular, it seemed a little worn and tired. Then it just felt like the hotel was squeezing you for every penny. To begin with, we were told there was an offer for 25% off spa treatments, however, upon check out we were then informed it only applied to certain treatments and paid the full price — a communication issue? For full access to the spa facilities you have to pay an additional £35, which we were extremely disappointed about since having stayed in hotels for a far cheaper price with spa facilities included. They also provide complimentary tea and coffee in your room, as expected, yet think you'll happily pay £5 to use the half pint of milk they provide in the fridge! And then a cup of tea for two downstairs was £7… Of course, you expect to pay a little more for a historic city centre hotel, however, it was the first time we'd walked away from a place feeling dispirited and slightly robbed. I guess you're paying for a 'luxury' they provide, I'd just like to know what cows they're getting their milk from…

We had a fabulous one night stay at the Chester Grosvenor. Everyone we came in contact with was so friendly and helpful. We felt like royalty!

I photographing a charity event last night and was included in the sit down meal. The food was fantastic, the staff very attentive. Very good venue. The only small issue was they never answered the phone before I arrived (I wanted to know about the car parking situation, I ended up parking across town as I couldn't get an answer)

Beautiful hotel, well located and lovely staff. The rooms are a good size with a comfortable bed. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much to ask. Highly recommended!

Greeted by concierge who also parked our car. Gorgeous room with huge bed very clean. A little bit pricey for mini bar and drinks but nice for a special treat.

An up market hotel with a Brasserie serving daily specials and a la carte menu. Professional staff, beautiful surroundings and definitely recommend for a treat. A little pricey.

There for a friend's wedding and it was beautiful. My girlfriend was taken ill and the staff were amazing and very helpful. Cannot praise them enough.

An excellent experience! Extremely attentive and polite staff that can't do enough for you, My room was spotless and I was upgraded when I arrived as well as all my rooms requests were granted which is always a great start to a stay at any hotel. The hotel itself is perfectly located and it's just purely beautiful and well kept. Valet parking is handy extra that most city centre hotels can't achieve so I feel it definitely deserves 5*s, I will be returning soon.

I went to the Grosvenor with 6 others for afternoon tea. I've been there for afternoon tea several times before and have always loved the food and service. This time, they were very slow — it took about 45 minutes for our drinks to come and by the time they did, some were cold. The staff were apologetic and brought fresh drinks but I still expect better.

The Grosvenor is the smartest place in Chester. I think it is the only place where the door-men wear top-hat and tails. Impeccable service. Very high quality food and drink. Great for special occasions.

This place speaks for itself and so I didn't think I'd of needed to leave a review, however after speaking to the wonderful staff, they informed me that people actually leave poor reviews! Unbelievable as this is top quality, service, location and general upkeep of such a beautiful hotel. Not the largest and most luxurious place I've stayed in, but we're talking about Chester and every square footage is precious, heritage land. Went for the Gin Tasting, an excellent experience served by the very knowledgeable Mathias. Superb selection of gins (and spirits in general).

Room was fantastic, great amenities, the bed was huge and amazing. Staff were courteous and helpful. The interior is gorgeous, and the location fantastic for experiencing Chester. Expensive hotel, but I feel you know where your money goes.

A fantastic central location with a beautiful interior. The bedroom was luxurious with comfortable beds. The breakfast was lovely and a very quality meal with fresh ingredients. As an addition, the spa was fantastic value with an excellent range of features. Overall a warm and friendly stay in central Chester.

I have been lucky enough to stay at this wonderful hotel several times now and I love it, have done since I was a child when I used to stand and watch people going in and out. The staff are always very courteous and professional and in particular the doormen are amazingly helpful.

Best meal of my life! Was absolutely lovely. It's our 5th time there and each time it gets better. The special offer makes it such good value and the food is amazing. Each course was beautifully presented and the flavours are light and compliment each other. The service is also great, I love the theatre of it and it is not too over the top. The 'presenting' of the breads and cheeses is entertaining too! We also had a pre dinner drink in the bar, I had a new cocktail in an ice ball which I had to smash, really nice and the novelty was fun! Will be taking my mum for a treat soon! :-).

On the 30th August 2013 my wife and I had the pleasure of celebrating our Diamond Wedding Anniversary, (courtesy of our family), with a 2 night stay at The Chester Grosvenor. From start to finish our stay was made wonderful by the kindness, cheerfulness and attention to detail by all the staff at all levels. Little suprises like the welcome Anniversary Cake in our bedroom to a similar after dinner confection in The Simon Radley Restaurant. The food was superb, accommodation excellent! We would recommend a stay at The Chester Grosvenor. Thanks for a wonderful memory.

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and love it you are only a couple of minutes from the high streets and the all the lovely old pubs we will go back again and again.

We have stayed here a few times. Originally being from the local area it is extremely useful. It is hard to fault the hotel as you would expect from a proper 5-star hotel everything is perfect, clean and correct. You are left feeling relaxed knowing that you are in expert hands. All of the rooms are decorated in their own way which makes the experience a lot more personal. This really is one of the world's best small luxury hotels.
