Appauling Experience — My son & his girl friend have just attended a wedding in Cambridge and booked into the Oakley Lodge for 2 nights. On the morning of their departure there was a knock on their door and they were handed the note pictured… They were aware that continental breakfast was included in the tariff and that they would have an additional bill to pay upon vacation and had every intention of paying before leaving. But they were neither given the opportunity to check out in a normal manner nor pay the outstanding amount owed before they were threatened IN WRITING. I find it absolutely unbelievable that any one would threaten anyone in writing, before presenting them with a bill for extras! The behaviou beggars belief. The establishment is obviously totally unaware of the very basic correct protocol for presenting guests will a bill for extras. They obvioiusly know absolutely nothing about customer service, hospitality or the law. Oakley Lodge should take note: The couple could have told them to forward the bill and left their name and address for them to do so, with payment to follow. So long as they left their name and address with them they were not obliged to pay on vacating — Oakley Lodge should further take note — they live in the middle East, so it could take some time for their action to hit home. AVOID the place as they obviously dont know how to behave.

Shocking… my son and His GF stayed there last weekend — on the morning of their departure they got a knock on the bedroom door and were handed a hand written note that read: Please come to reception to pay for your breakfast, otherwise if fail to do so will report and take further actions against you. Regards Manager of Oakley Lodge… Unbelieveable that any one would think that THIS was an appropriate way to invoice guests for extras! … Handing them an invoice and giving them the opportunity to pay would have been the right way to deal with guests… but this was simply unbelieveable… My son would never leave a hotel with out paying his account and he would have been within his rights to not pay and leave his name and address for the place to forward the bill for payment… I would have loved to have seen them pursue my son for payment of a £20 bill as he lives in the Middle East… Terrible place — dirty toilets and a shower tray that over flowed on use…
