We stayed here for one night over Easter. Having heard from a friend that the standard rooms were rather tired, we opted for an Executive Double in the main part of the hotel (special request). However, I was personally very disappointed as the room allocated (No. 8) lacked any character and it did seem very 'Corporate'. However following a problem in our bathroom, the staff were extremely apologetic & were quick to act, giving us a fantastic upgrade to Room 302 (Ascot) across from the main building. What a fantastic room this is, probably the largest & best I have stayed in. It has magnificent views of the river & every convenience you could possibly want. The hotel staff were all pleasant & friendly & went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The bar / restaurant was a great place to eat / drink, with wonderful views overlooking the river. A very pleasant experience and not particularly expensive. We also used the outdoor Jacuzzi (despite the rain) and sauna … a nice 'extra' but included in the price. Breakfast was well organised, with a great choice of cooked & continental options. Again a relaxed experience whilst watching the comings and goings on the river. Would I stay here again … most definitely. However, as per the title of this review, I would suggest being very specific with your requirements when making your booking. Finally, my special thanks to John on reception.

Really cannot fault this hotel! From the moment I emailed, the lovely ladies Monica & Leanne were on hand to help with every request and all the changes! (sorry again! ) Everyone that attended conference has had nothing but praise for the staff and the hotel itself. Clean modern facilities and a lovely location makes it perfect for any event! Once again, thanks for everything.

The team was very good at arranging everything for the event, and we were looked after very well throughout the weekend. The venue is perfect for small events and courses, and my delegates are happy with the venue. The catering is superb! The only thing could be improved — was that there were no signs directing delegates to the event, and the meeting room wasn't fully ready for the meeting in the morning of the first day — the cleaner was hoovering the room 15min before the beginning of the event, and there were no flipcharts and any stationery ready. However, those were promptly addressed and the person who was looking after us throughout the weekend was brilliant in accommodating all our requests promptly and with the smile, so any issues seem irrelevant with the good service. There was also a small discrepancy in price for the room charge, but this was also promptly addressed and the refund was offered immediately. As for hotel rooms, delegates were given quiet rooms as requested and were happy with the accommodation and catering. It would have been nice if spa area would be open later than 8pm, as some delegates would have liked to use it, but it was closed. Overall, very positive experience and I will be definitely booking again!

Lovely hotel. Outside seating next to the river side. Nice food. Afternoon tea and cream tea available. Or maybe pop in for a drink or cup of tea or coffee. Reasonable prices and not expensive.

Overall the hotel (main house) is lovely but didn't appreciate having to cross the road back and forth to my bedroom especially in the rain. There was a covered way once over the other side but each end was still uncovered and let rain through with big puddles on floor had to step over. My room (440) had no bath which was disappointing as I was really looking forward to relax in a lovely bath. And I thought instead if you had a large pool I could go there instead but hence no pool (just a jacuzzi outside as part of add on to the spa. This was a shame really. Other than that, the room was very spacious and clean and light. Bedding would have been better if was duck down duvets and pillows instead of microfibre. Choice of pillows was the same throughout and not some flatter or softer/firmer than others. It's nice to have full range of choice of pillows since everyone is different Main disturbing thing during my visit was I was opposite the railway station and sound of live music across the road sounded like it was directly next door in another room or just below me. I had to ring down to reception asking if there was an event with music going on next to my room. I could not sleep for at least an hour before this very very loud noise/banging plus chatter/voices of people would stop — very disappointing that I would definitely not recommend putting anyone in this part of the hotel.

This was our third stay at this iconic hotel in Windsor and it will certainly not be our last. Our previous visits were in the original Wren building and we love the quirky feel of this over three hundred year old landmark. This time our room was in the newest edition, the Windsor House and we were not disappointed, a beautiful, quiet room which still retains the feel of the old house with its twists and turns through old and new areas. The staff as always, are friendly and always attentive to our needs, it was nice to see some familiar faces from previous visits. My wife loves to have a relaxing facial and massage at the adjoining spa, highly recommended. Breakfast’s at the restaurant are magical seated overlooking the Thames and Eton and we were thrilled to see some snow on the rooftops and fields beyond this time. We look forward to our next visit!

This was a very nice hotel to stay in. We had £70 meal voucher which went toward the cost of evening meals. The food was outstanding at dinner. Staff v friendly. Rooms modern, recently refurbished. Staff helpful and friendly. Views in dining area over the river. I would definitely go back.

Very clean, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Lovely food and delightful afternoon tea looking over the river. Perfectly located 2 mins from the station and easy access to the town centre and castle. We were here for a girls spa weekend. The spa treatments were great but don't expect a full on spa break experience. The jacuzzi (that wasn't working) and sauna are out side in a very small courtyard and we didn't find the relaxation room until much later (and it was cold in there) Communication on arrival about where everything was would have been helpful. All in all we had a fabulous weekend and would highly recommend the hotel.

The Hotel is ideally placed for the amenities of Windsor and Eaton. The staff were always willing to help and offer advice during our stay. The Castle is so close and worth devoting time to. The restaurant and Bar facilities were comfortable and offered views over the Thames. You have the theatre around the corner and across the bridge the delights of Elton and the College. We stayed in the newly refurbished Annex only a few steps across the pedestrianised street. The staff were always on hand to help and the service in the facilities excellent whatever time of the day. In terms of parking we used the Valet which was great but there is the reserved parking only a short walk away. In short we enjoyed our time and will definitely return…

My husband and I enjoyed a 2 night break in Windsor at The Christopher Wren Hotel. The staff were very helpful and took our luggage on arrival. Our room did not have a bath and we asked if we could change our room. This was done very quickly and without any trouble. We ate in the restaurant the first evening and did find the food overpriced for the quality we received. My husband did not eat or enjoy his meal but this was refunded at the end of our stay by the receptionist. The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty choice. We used the spa facilities. I enjoyed a facial and massage. The spa facilities are small but nice non the less. Really well positioned to all the shops, cafes. Eton and the castle.

We had an amazing time at your hotel, the kindness of the staff (hotel, restaurant, SPA) made us feel at home. The attention to detail could be perceived everywhere from the cleanness to the lovely gesture of organizing a special welcome for my husband's birthday. Everything was just perfect! The location is fantastic for visiting the castle, Eaton or Windsor itself, but also to reach the train station (2 min). We would love to visit you again soon or any of your sister hotels! Thank you.

Stayed for one night on the package that included Windsor Castle tickets and dining credit and would thoroughly recommend it. Hotel was great standard, spotless throughout and room was just right. The level of service from all staff was as good as anywhere I've ever stayed in the world, particularly the waiter in the dining room who was exceptional and deserves special praise. Would definitely visit again and have no hesitation in suggesting others do the same. First class…

Good quality hotel with excellent, friendly front of house service. Room was small but had everything needed. Good breakfast and excellent views of the Thames. Parking at £25 a day can be easily avoided in other Windsor car parks. Location is perfect, just by Eton bridge and within easy walking distance to main Windsor attractions (castle), shops, bars and restaurants. Recommended.

A really beautiful hotel, from the outside and inside, topped with attentive service from the start of our experience. The rooms themselves are astonishing, from the colour scheme, to the beautiful patterns and range of soft and firm pillows. We enjoyed a sharing platter and prosecco which was included in our package, not to forget the extra massage treatment. Incredibly handy that the wrens club was just 10 seconds walk away! To top it off breakfast was very tasty and hearty. A very enjoyed stay — highly recommended.

From the moment we arrived, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The customer service was excellent in all areas of the hotel. Everyone was welcoming, polite and appeared to enjoy working at the hotel. The decoration and ambience was both luxurious and relaxing. The executive room was very pleasing and the breakfast was delicious. We would not hesitate to book another stay.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful and the room was lovely — clean, comfy and spacious. The free drink vouchers are a lovely touch and made us feel like valued guests. The reception staff and concierge were very helpful and friendly. The only thing that let it down was the bar management in the evening, and I spoke to the duty manager at the time. There was a large Christmas party in and — when we came back to the hotel and into the bar at around midnight — only one member of staff was serving. We waited 30 minutes to order one round of drinks which was pretty frustrating — quite a lot of other guests were also unhappy and spoke to the duty manager who was kind enough to give us our drinks on the house. We really did have a lovely time though and I would go back. Great location right between Eton and Windsor, on the river with lovely views. And a great breakfast!

We have stayed here before. It is in a fantastic location with lovely rooms. We had a very comfortable room facing the bridge, had all the usual facilities with a few luxury extras. A very old building, maintained to a high standard. A very busy Sunday breakfast, a little slow to replenish food. Will definitely stay again very soon.

Good hotel for the south east. I stopped in the newly refurbished annexe across the road for my third visit and it has been beautifully done. Breakfast is an excellent buffet affair. Great black out and quiet room. Definitely stop again. Parking is £12 overnight at River Street.

Absolutely beautiful location and venue! After being in London for the weekend we decided to head to Windsor on the way back home to see the sights. We had booked an afternoon tea here and also disabled parking. As we arrived the valet took our car away and we were ushered inside to the restaurant, a beautiful beautiful room. We sat down with a window seat on the edge of the Thames looking over the water. Our afternoon tea arrived and it was beautiful a selection of pastries and cakes and endless flavoured teas. We had a wonderful afternoon and it brought our weekend to an incredible close.

My room was nice and clean, amenities are hard to use (shampoo and shower gel works as it's more liquid, body lotion is impossible to get out of its tube. ), also they were not replaced for the second day and I didn't have enough shampoo which I only noticed as I was standing in the morning shower, so no chance to call housekeeping for more supply). All staff (without exception) were rather inattentive, unfriendly and seemed to display quite a bit of attitude. My requests were all handled in a very "matter-of-fact" way, from check in to seating at breakfast to check out. Not overly friendly or welcoming. I was a single traveler as I was there for business, at breakfast I was asked to be seated at a high table as apparently no regular table was available. The couple who were waiting to be seated right behind me were then seated at a regular table (about 15 secs after me. ), as was another couple who came in straight after. Overall it was not an overly pleasant stay (apart from the great location of the hotel).

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel in Windsor recently. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary and were able to relax in a lovely room on the 1st floor. The hot tub was also an added bonus as well as the wonderful breakfasts. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel which is in a central location which made it within easy reach of the Castle as well as all of the amenities which Windsor has to offer.

From stepping through the front door we were met with nothing but friendly faces, very polite, and helpful. The room was lovely, and very well serviced by the girl cleaning it. The breakfasts were nice, and it was a treat to be sitting looking out onto the river, with the swans taking off and landing. All the staff were very nice. We hope to come back again soon.

Very nice room with a great view over the Thames. Shame about the rain. Room tidy and interesting. Staff helpful and friendly. Only gripes were the shower was only a trickle and the bath water only warm at best. Also only found the coffee and kettle by chance but we were only there for one night and didn't explore the wardrobe until leaving.

Very pleasant, welcoming staff, attending to every detail along the way. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable. We slept very well, did not notice any noise. The food was excellent. This included a wedding reception on the Saturday and everything was perfect. The 3-course wedding meal was lovely and the following fruit cake 1st class.

I booked into the hotel during April, but due to teh renovation work I was moved to an alternative hotel. However, transport by taxi back and fore between the hotel and Windsor was all paid for numerous times over the weekend. I was also given a voucher to stay free of charge in the new rooms so I took advantage of this opportunity. On both occasions the staff were very welcoming and could not be more helpful. The room was very well equipped, comfortable and spacious, the food was lovely too. I will definitely recommend the Sir Christopher Wren to friends who are seeking hotels in the Windsor area.

We stayed in an executive King room over the august bank holiday weekend. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The iron wasn't working, but it was replaced very quickly. We had seen reviews about noise levels, but we found it very peaceful and were not disturbed at all. The spa was quite small, however we found it clean and relaxing. Breakfast was busy and our tea/coffee took a while to arrive, but the food was all hot and good quality. Overall we had a very peaceful stay for our anniversary and we definitely recommend the hotel and location to our friends.

This is the perfect hotel to stay in for visiting Windsor and Eton — close to the stations and a few minutes walk from Windsor castle. The Windsor castle package is great value. The staff throughout our stay were all first class — check in desk, concierge, bar staff, restaurant staff — all fantastic! I can't remember when I've had such great service! The restaurant was fabulous, with a stunning view over the river. The menu was varied and the food delicious. The room was spacious with a lovely clean bathroom. I think this hotel has got everything spot on, and I would definitely stay again.

We have been fortunate to be able to stay at The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel on a number of occasions. The staff as always were wonderfully helpful and charming and dealt with our heavy suitcases with a smile. My husband and I live in Australia and I can think of no better place to spend the last few days of our English sojourn than in Windsor, in our favourite room, looking across the Thames to Eton. Breakfast at the Hotel is an experience in itself as the food is good and the view unique. Access to Heathrow. Is simple and we delivered our hired car back to its depot within half an hour of leaving the Hotel. Thank you, it is a very special place in which to stay. I hope we shall come again.

Excellent location close to Heathrow. Great service! They were very accommodating for our family with a young child. If you like rustic charm this hotel is a treat.

Nice quality, clean, well maintained hotel but a couple of issues that I can't get over. Their front reception staff just seemed really grumpy. Upon arrival I felt like I was bothering them. Secondly we had a young baby with us so they put a travel cot in our room. After sleeping in it for 2 nights I found that the bed base was completely broken and had huge holes in it. Our baby was not being supported properly at all throughout the night. Shocking that they have no respect for a guest and a baby like that.

The food was lovely, and the waiter, Boris could not look after us better. We were a group of 10 and he made sure we had everything we needed, our glasses were never empty, food was delicious and he made our evening even better with being so genuinely nice and caring. The rooms are very clean. Bathrooms amazing, very good room service, concierges very polite and helpful. Spa could be better, there is not much there, just sauna and one small jacuzzi, they asked us to bring bathrobes fron the room, which was a bit annoying as we were in the other building. So far the best hotel I stayed at. Will definitely come back.

If you like old buildings converted into a hotel, this is the place for you. Higildy pigility would accurately describe the facilities. A series of buildings renovated and internally connected — rooms of varying size and shape. But very nicely furnished. Great views of the Thames from the main restaurant, very central location. Fantastic food. And a very modern business centre. Parking is a bit of a flaff, with a valet service having to deal with way too many cars in a uber small car park. Good location in the heart of Windsor.

The hotel was nice, although not what we expected for the price we paid. The bed was a small double, and barely fit both myself and my partner in it. His feet stuck out of the end of the bed and were cold all night. The headboard of the bed was a lot bigger than the bed itsself which made the room look cheap. The window rattled inside its frame all night. We had to stuff tissues in the frame in order to stop the noise. There was damage to a lot of the furniture. Chipped varnish, bumps, scrapes that were very noticeable. For what we were playing, we expected a much higher standard. Finally, we were not told that we were being charged upon our arrival, reception staff asked to see a card, but failed to mention at that point that they were charging us — we didn't enter our pin number, etc. This was very poor customer service — we were shocked to learn upon check out that we had already been charged without our knowing! Aside from these things our staff was pleasant and we enjoyed the food. We did complain to the reception staff upon check out and they offered us a 10% discount which was appreciated.

The service was excellent, with the staff always on hand to help. The room was beautiful and spa was relaxing.

Okay, it's not perfect, but, value, location and staff make this a great hotel for a quick weekend away. If you're exploring England's history and want a sense of times past in a picturesque setting by the Thames, this is perfectly situated within walking distance of Eton High Street and Windsor Castle. The rooms vary in size quite dramatically but they have all amenities you would need for a weekend or short break. I am very fussy and have been fortunate to stay at some luxurious places, and I would return to this one. The riverside restaurant offers a beautiful view and has a tranquil feeling — my sister, mum and I visited in the summer months and were lucky enough to enjoy some glasses of bubbly on the terrace outside which was lovely. The restaurant staff were really helpful and although we booked it as a sort of 'package' they still offered flexibility which often isn't the case. There were places to put our bags before we were able to check in and we were immediately allowed access to facilities. Spa treatments were included in the package we chose, and actually the value for money was great. We were able to spend as long as we wanted using the spa facilities which were actually a bit of a haven, before treatments. Hot drinks were free too. Reasons to go: Location, value, relaxing, easy access, historical surroundings.

Ridiculously overpriced, and not a 4 star hotel. Room was incredibly cramped with the dressing table almost against a corner of the bed. Shower was tiny, anyone larger than me would have struggled to turn round. Room too cold and temperature controls did not work. Breakfast buffet was barely warm — we had to tell the waiter and even then he only addressed one aspect. Lovely building and location, but very poor service and very poor rooms. Filled in the hotel review form and posted off to their head office — not heard a thing so we presume they don't care.

Most hotels in Windsor are old and small, but this one was particular small (bedroom) the bed was against 2 walls (felt like a uni dorm), on my last day, there was no HOT water in the shower (in the winter), also heating didn't felt right (i felt cold at nights), bathroom was small. Wifi works OK, common areas look great and big and well kept, but once I stepped into my room (3) the impression was totally the contrary, wouldn't stay here again, and I would prefer paying a bit more for a better experience.

Lovely hotel, really friendly staff and great spot on the terrace when the weather is good. Only recommendation would be to check beforehand if you have accessibility issues to ensure a room with minimum steps to reach.

Went to spa and hotel, changing area smell of poo and couldn't stay for long, dryer didn't work, towels and tissue all over the place on the dirty floor, lights hanging of the wall at top ceiling and lots of cracks on walls, outdoor shower drainage totally blocked, towel dryer didn't work and health hazard (you should have pressed a manual button instead of touch-less and might cause electric shock as it's quit wet area), Jacuzzi even outdoor was too acidic as I could smell too much chlorine in my nose, relaxation area was good, sauna was alright, tea and coffee maker out of order, needs cleaning and maintenance, also can't bear the smell in changing area and that's the reason 2 star, would I come back? probably when faults are resolved but would I pay entry fee again for the health and spa with these sort of condition? absolutely not. Hotel itself as I only used the bar and dining area really nice big fireplace on entrance (my sort of thing), ordered some food, expensive for a portion but I guess that's what you get in Windsor and in the Hotel, quality was Ok.

A friend and I stayed for a night last year and had such a great time that we are returning again this year! Last year we booked the Special that included a treatment at the Spa. Both of us chose the back neck and shoulder massage. Have to say mine was not great but not bad enough to spoil the experience. All the staff were lovely — friendly and very helpful. This year we have chosen the Windsor Castle Package and I can't wait! For some reason the system won't let me post a second review so I will just add this year's review on to the bottom of my last one! As mentioned above this year my friend and took the Windsor Castle Package this year. We had a fabulous time again. The Castle visit was lovely — we even got to see the Queen! Our stay at the Hotel couldn't have been better! We had a stunning room — Room 39 — with a great balcony overlooking the River Thames. The service we received from the staff in all areas was exemplary. The Restaurant was quite busy but we never felt we were waiting for anything — nor were they overbearing. The two staff that looked after us at Dinner and again at Breakfast, did so with a friendly, professional service. The food was of a very high standard — I highly recomend the deserts! Thank you once again to everyone at the Hotel and I am sure we will be back again one day.

Excellent hotel to relax in the quiet and gorgeous town of Windsor, Berkshire, England. The rooms are immaculate, the location is perfect, fast Wi-Fi and friendly staff! Loved it.

Quite nice rooms, good spot by the river, but give the breakfast a miss (forgotten orders, oranges as seasonal fruit in October etc).

Bit of a mixed bag. Nice clean rooms, very well located, friendly staff. Dining was incompetent to the point of farce, however. They were clearly short-staffed, but I think it runs much deeper than that. Service was mostly by charming teenagers who gave the impression they were trying, but sadly failing. They also gave the impression management don't listen to them; there's what would be a charming romantic terrace, if there were actually any candles or lights on the tables — the waitress agreed this was an oversight "it's stupid — we have to use our phones as torches so people can see their bills". A gin martini was rather watery and not very cold — it had obviously been sitting there for fifteen minutes. We ordered some sharing platters to start, which then didn't arrive. Five rare steaks all came without even a hint of pinkness (or any greenery), which was a pity — the meat itself would have been excellent had it not been done to death by the chef. We attempted to order coffee and tea after the meal, but "I'll be right back to take your order" turned into 20 minutes, so we got up and went inside to ask. Another ten minutes and some coffee finally arrives, but no tea. Or milk. Or saucers for the cups for that matter. If it hadn't been just family and I'd brought someone here who wasn't in the mood to laugh the whole incompetent experience off, then frankly I'd have been embarrassed.

Stayed for 1 night and had a wonderful time. The room was gorgeous, right on the river, and the staff were very friendly and helpful — they even left a card for my boyfriend's birthday which was a lovely touch. The spa was a wonderful extra and there was plenty of choice for breakfast either on the buffet or a la carte. We also had a drink and a sharing platter on the river terrace which we very much enjoyed. Really lovely hotel.
