Great place and cracking golf course.

Great place we are going for our 2nd visit met a lovely man who not only had passion for his job but made it important to talk to as many guests as possible. Helped with our check in and gave us a tour around trust me to forget his name but the hotel would be at a loss if he was to leave.

A very beautiful place for singles or families. Polite staff. Serene atmosphere!

Horrible accommodation, the state of this room is deplorable. For the amount of money they charge, it’s an absolute scam. Dirty, old, broken, not worth half the price. The fact that they get away with this is disgusting.

I have never once stayed in a hotel with such a great service, with little touches, and staff that go out of their way, until now. De Vere Wokefield Estate has ticked every single box I could think of, plus many more boxes I couldn’t think of. They have made our honeymoon a truly unforgettable experience, and the level of service that we have received has been truly impeccable. I cannot wait to come back! A massive thank you to Andy, who has orchestrated such a memorable stay. And to Katie, Kerri, Aaron, Charlotte, Katya, Kelly, Nikos, Jack and Anna. And many more I’m sorry I’ve missed names here. But you all deserve recognition for your part in our simply wonderful week.

Very friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere always.

Terrible customer service, 1 hour after making a booking I had a family emergency. I called to cancel my booking but was told I could only cancel and couldn't get a refund as I used the rewards scheme (this is how you're treated as a registered member) so my booking was none refundable. I also spoke to a manager at the hotel who said they'd look into my issue and call me back. I never got the callback, such a letdown from De Vere bearing in mind my company spent thousands of pounds with them for a corporate event. I won't be using De Vere for any person or business stay ever again. The lack of customer service to even call me back was appalling, never mind the fact my booking had only been placed less than an hour from me having to cancel. I'm disgusted by their business practices and their reputation as a business has been burnt with me.

As a home from hone on the outskirts of London, this place is the absolute bomb… Our trip has been unbelievably relaxing and despite the social distancing we have met some amazing members at the Golf Club.

Wonderful atmosphere, lovely setting with beautiful scenery. Clean spacious room with helpful knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Food is mouthwatering and such wide choice. Well stocked bar with a good selection of drinks.

It’s huge, so rooms are spacious and there’s fresh air. Hotel has a small pool, a sauna and a gym. Staff are efficient and friendly.

We made every effort to ensure that my husband would have a good 40th birthday every effort we made was totally ruined by terrible bar and poor food service at De vere they offered no flexibility in terms of getting our own caterers and bar team yet the ones that were provided to us were shockingly inexperienced and unprepared. If it were not through the excellent work of our other suppliers the function would have been a total miss. Still awaiting answers from Deveres on this. But very disappointed and upset at the fact that our paid bar opened an hour and a half later then it should have and our guests had to pay for drinks! get back to us De vere we need answers.

Amazing venue, magnificent golf, food is top draw. The staff friendly and courteous. Well worth a visit, if your nearby.

Enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea with my wife for her birthday, wonderful sandwiches, gorgeous cakes, choice of tea and coffee and lovely staff, excellent value as we got a two for one deal! would definately recommend!

The afternoon tea was woeful: huge sandwiches with boring fillings and dry bread; luke-warm tea; nasty, stodgy, shop-bought cake and scones. Vast quantities of cream, but little jam… and all quite pricey. WHY? Worst I've had anywhere.

Would have been a 4.5 if I could have selected it. Gorgeous room upgrade in the mansion house, complimentary fizz! Had excellent evening meal in the brasserie, staff were attentive and the wine delicious. Only let down was breakfast, a little chaotic, had to clear our own table. Ask for things to be replenished several times: no plates, no glasses, no eggs, no bread to make toast, no butter. But although was a muddle we eventually got a brekkie. Would definitely stay again.

Clean and presentable hotel with polite and friendly staff willing to help. The rooms are kept clean and made each day by the friendly cleaning staff. A variety of rooms on offer and all offer a t. V. And ensuite bathroom.

Quality hotel that is suitable for a number of groups and occasions. It looks to be designed with golfers in mind, with a large picturesque course surrounding the hotel. Which also doubles up as a beautiful backdrop for a city getaway. Three large buildings spread across the site allow for multiple functions and occasions. We used it for a church conference, but while we were there there were weddings, corporate banking events (HSBC) and golfing happening at the same time. For the size of the hotel the pool is a little small and is made smaller by lessons taking place. Could be more equipped and better maintained, seems like a secondary service for the golf staff. Food was good and various places to eat really gives you options. Free coffee machines through the main building makes it very convenient, a nice perk. Football pitches out back were great when travelling as a large group. Would consider returning if hosting an event for a number of people. Surprised they haven't considered putting in a ful spa as it would suit the location. Very relaxing.

Few years ago had a great experience but recently had a terrible one, poor customer service, the venue over booked itself so many of the areas were not accessible to the public (due to a wedding) and closing of restaurants etc early meant that couldn’t get any food etc. Would not go back. They have not even acknowledged our complaint plus they randomly took money from my account which I had to complain about and wait 3 days to get back! UPDATE I have increased this review to 3 stars because the current manager has responded to my complaint and been very helpful about some issues raised. I therefore think this warrants some praise. I have accepted an offer to stay again and once I have done so I will consider whether I should maintain this review or rewrite it as I would like to give the venue a fair chance to redeem itself. Watch this space.

Stayed at the Manor House for 1 night. Room ok, but expected more from a superior room valued at £239 per night.
We were surprised to be put in a room directly above a wedding function playing music into the early hours with no offer of an alternative room or prenotification.

This has been one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time — and I've travelled across Europe on a shoestring… We were unable to check-in early — fair enough since you seemed to be busy — but that was just the start…
As a family of 4 we were given a room on 2nd floor — the only lift in sight was out of order — your staff did not think to help us with the luggage (seeing that we had a baby and a toddler on our hands). The room was completely unsuitable for a f…amily — not sure how you imagine babies/toddlers sleeping on your fold-out beds — one of which was really badly positioned next to a big mirror too… My husband had to sleep on the bed with both kids with me on one of the (uncomfortable) single fold-out beds. The room had no AC (! ) and by the time we have picked up the keys for our room (around 9-9.30pm having pre-registered at 12.30pm), you have run out of fans. Needles to say it was boiling in the room! We took cold showers before bed but kids were so uncomfortable they were both crying until really late because of the temperature. We were unable to open the curtains to let the cool evening air in because you've placed us in a courtyard facing room — with bright lights on and sitting area where people were drinking, smoking, laughing and shouting (and vomiting! ) until just before 2 in the morning.

We stayed here for 2 nights early June for a very special 90th birthday. Everything was great and we got looked after very well by the staff. I would stay here again if I could. From an Aussie.

I’ve now stayed here twice. Neither time was enjoyable. First time I was in the attic of the mansion house, during a heatwave, with a window that opened about 4 inches and no air-con. The staff on reception said they’d “Try their best” to get me a fan as their was a shortage. They did manage to get me one, but the fact they admitted they didn’t have enough is a worry. Second time I did get a room with AirCon but it was above the bar and very noisy (until at least 1am). I had to open my “bad hotel kit” which take when travelling which thankfully had some earplugs in it so I could eventually get some sleep. Two star because the rooms were very clean. Golf courses looked nice, but I’m not a golfer.

I am a returning member to Wokefield golf club. Great place with a good course. Great bar and restaurant on site. Love the large house on site, an imposing building that you can hang around if you want a break from golf. Many years ago, I was able to use my points system for my wife so she can use the massage facility. Wish it came back. Apart from that, great place and the points system works very well for me.

Interesting and tough golf course where you need to stay out of the rough and the many bunkers if you want to post a decent score. Hotel was nice but buffet dinner only had 2 options but at the price you can't complain. Only real issue was speed of play as the course was so busy and the lack of bitter on tap at the bar.

What a lovely place and what a good price. All staff are kind and outgoing to help you out which is hard to find these days. They let me park my motorbike round the back which was nice although you have some sort of chemical leak which dropped on my motorbike from under the stairs and did £200 worth of damage to my exhausts so may want to look at that. I didn't mention it but was gutted. Free stay would be nice considering how much damage it did : ( The bar is nice and not to expensive. They did mess up our dinner plans when they got the order wrong but it happens. The weather and surroundings are lovely. The room we stayed out was nice and had a big tv. Will defentally come back again.

I stated in the mansion House which was very nice, spacious room and lovely setting. Dinner and breakfast were both a buffet style which meant little to no waiting which is always good. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

Very successful hosts of a company conference. Auditorium of good size and easy to see/hear speaker. Break out rooms very nice. Refreshments and food were tasty and well timed.

We stayed for 2 nights last week and had an amazing time. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner and although the drinks are expensive, for what we paid for the room it was a really good deal. The grounds are beautiful and if you like golf it's a good place to stay. Considering how close to Reading we were, it was like we were in the countryside. The staff were very courteous and friendly and were so helpful. The leisure club was nice but no steam room or jacuzzi but all included in the price. Would definitely stay again.

Good value as got it half price over easter and liked the pool and sauna. Shame the golf course was shut due to being waterlogged which seems to happen frequently during the winter months. Breakfast was great and a large selection was offered. Check in was quite slow but everyone was really helpful. Some lovely pubs and canal walks nearby.

Had a comfortable stay. Stayed quite a few times over the years & have not been back for a while until this weekend. Our big let down was breakfast where it was total mayhem, too few staff & not enough tables to meet demand! Big queue to the hot drinks machines where one decided to stop operating. Lots of areas to relax & overall enjoyed our weekend break.

On my recent stay, think standards are on the slide. Was staying in the Mansion House which is nice. But going through a refurb. With signs up saying closed passages and no other signs up saying where to go. The info desk was closed. Once in room not bad but felt like it was being refurbished while I was in there. No hot to wash or shave in. Bath overflow hanging out. And shower screen had no seal so leaked all over the floor. Did call reception to report this but on day three if three still the same… A fair bit disappointing.

Incredible venue for the University Polo Charity Ball they gave us an amazing deal that allowed us to raise as much as possible for Meningitis Now! Beautiful rooms in the mansion house and fantastic food! Absolutely delicious would recommend for events or weekend getaway!

Attended for a company training event. The venue doesn't look much from the outside but you find a nice bright airy atrium as you enter. The meeting room was a little hidden away but was served by a coffee and snack area. The food at the restaurant was fine nothing exceptional but there were a couple of selections for mains and desert.

Vast landscape with golf grounds! Clean environment but bedroom facilities appear a bit run down, could do with some refurbishing. Hair dryer/iron/tea available in room. Window was broken so room was cold but this was fixed within a few hrs of informing them. Wi-Fi not brilliant. Fantastic breakfast but had to queue for a while for dinner as they did not seem to know how many people they were expecting. We had to wait for more fish to be freshly made! Big conference room. I don't mind going back though.

Staff were fantastic, rooms were very comfortable although some minor cleaning/upkeep issues. Food on the whole was not bad. Overall a pretty good stay.

The grounds are beautiful, beds comfortable, room warm and inviting. But it is the staff that makes me want to return. Not so much the management but the everyday working staff. They know how to make you feel special and at home at the same time. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Oddly laid out hotel. Took a long time to get to my room. Lifts only ran part of the way up. Poor signage. Very noisy at night, and lots of room service plates and rubbish still in the corridors at 6 o'clock at night. Room key cards kept wiping themselves so had to queue to get them reprogrammed. Decent conference set up but have been at much better hotels.

At the price point approx £20 per head the food was ok. The venue is very nice, easy to get to and free parking. However they always miss something and this year most people received no coffee, not the end of the world but definitely room for improvement.

Excellent grounds and spacious rooms for events. Did not have a chance to try the hotel part of the estate. The one issue I would have is that during the night it can be difficult to spot the entrances to the estate. A more illuminated sign would help immensely. If you are travelling at night to De Vere, please take care at the end, or you may miss the turning like we did.

Recently attended a conference here. Lovely venue in a good location, pretty convenient from the M4. Stayed in the Mansion House, and got upgraded to a suite when I was somehow given an already occupied room — apologies to the man getting changed who I walked into! He should've gotten the upgrade to be fair, but I'm not complaining. The suite was very luxurious, with a massive double shower, two entrances to the bathroom, seperate living area with some pretty comfy armchairs. The bed was comfy and I slept very well, and all the food I ate was delicious, breakfast was decent, the hot buffet lunches I has were pretty good, especially the Tikka Chicken Skewers. The facilities were good, and the staff very accommodating. The bathrooms in the main building had very difficult flushes however, standard buttons sunken into the wall, but you had to force it about 3 inches in to get them to flush, so consider that a warning if you are attending. Parking was sometimes a bit difficult, so arrive in plenty of time. All in all, a great place, and would return.

Wokefield Park is perfect for corporate events or if you work for BMW, otherwise I feel it is a little out of the way. The rooms are reasonably well furnished, although small touches such as a mini fridge would be nice for the price you pay. Staff are always friendly and willing to assist with issues. There is a small gym and a swimming pool which I find very useful and surprisingly well equipped for such a small area. There is also a large golf course if you're in to that, I'm told it's quite good.

Slightly difficult to get to. Once you manage a good hotel with decent rooms, comfortable beds. Restaurant was buffet style. Food plentiful and ok. Bar was not very efficiently staffed. Plenty of facilities including a golf course and range.

To sum it up in two words, “faulty towers”. We arrived and our room was the wrong one, also when asking for the correct number of towels and for a Mug we received a towel they found stored in a random wardrobe and a two glass cups, after trying to explain a mug to a no English speaking house keeper he tried to take the mug not give us an extra one. We went down to the restaurant and they never mentioned starters come with chips? So we have like 5 for some reason, never mentioned it when we asked for chips to go with stuff. Then when asking for a drink the waiter told me could I go get it from the bar, and cutlery came after he food, useful. Strange place, good for corporate meetings maybe. Wouldn’t really recommend it, also are window can’t close and the TV is the size of a laptop on a huge wall. EDIT: we don’t have a remote for the TV had to ask for one.

Good for corporate events. Didn't seem like a family place. Reasonable food. Ok collection of beer but could be better. Room was ok. Shower was a bit pants but otherwise the place was nice.

Lovely room & delicious breakfast. Didn't use any of the facilities but room was very clean & very nicely decorated. Plenty of storage. Couldn't find the TV remote but a quick call to housekeeping was all that was needed to get one sent up to me. The only downside was checking out. There were only 2 receptionists & one of those didn't have a working printer. There were 2 queues of customers wanting to check out, mainly with problems, which was very frustrating for those of us who were short of time. Surely when the hotel is as full as it was more staff should be available & machines working. It wasn't a surprise that all these people needed to check! It's a shame because apart from that it was a nice few days.

This hotel has potential, good size rooms with contemporary fittings and expansive gardens. The problems are clearly with house keeping and a lack of training. Customer service is poor, items are broken in the rooms and cleanliness is superficial. Don't look to closely as you'll be shocked! Have stayed in many De Vere's and the Wokefield is letting the brand down. Way too expensive for all the issues you have to put up with during your stay.

Will definitely stay here again. We had our room upgraded to a family room for an extra £5, very happy. Lovely breakfast, quiet rooms. A lovely hotel in beautiful grounds.

We stayed in the hotel while visiting some of the local National Trust houses and Gardens. The room was very modern and clean. They had a bit of renovation going on in the Lobby but nothing noisy. The breakfast was really nice they had lots on offer from yogurts, cerials and a proper cooked breakfast. We didn't get time to use the swimming pool but my son enjoyed the Nintendo zone. Overall happy with the stay.

Great professional staff. Everyone is chilled and up for chat. The grounds are amazing… Great place for those that like golf. Rooms in the executive centre are very pretty and ideal for a romantic trip away.

Great conference centre, lovely staff and great bedrooms. The food is more than passable and the conference staff that greet us every morning before we start are amazing. They try hard and deliver excellent service. The rooms are great, a lovely golf course and nice location make this a great place to work, rest and play.

Nice size rooms and good breakfast. Staff friendly. Rooms extremely hot. No air conditioning! Window doesn't open all the way. TV didn't work properly. Shower was extremely poor. No water pressure in the shower. Wouldn't recommend this hotel even though it has lovely ground and a nice bar.

No air conditioning. No window. (Ground floor French doors only onto area where people walk past). Every time person in room above moves floorboards creek loudly. Doors slam loudly when people shut hotel doors. Not good enough for a 4 star hotel if you want a good sleep. Room very tidy and grounds beautiful. Not enough to rescue it though!

Had a super time. Wonderful rooms, great food, plenty of activities for all the family. All in a picturesque mansion setting. Wonderful service from staff.

We were at Unique Outdoors, which is on the Wokefield Park site, for a stag party. They offer a wide variety of outdoor activities. We went for the Double Shot package which started out with archery then moved on to woodland laser tag. The instructors were great and the equipment was excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought it was very good value for money.

I'm a gym member. I absolutely love it there, lovely staff and very helpful. Also a very lovely personal trainer (think his name is Jay? ) very nice to look at too.

Stayed at the Mansion House, overnight as I was on a course. Food was great, if a little pricey, but the rooms were very nice. The grounds are scenic.

Wokefield Park is in the country outside Reading. The rooms were enough clean. I have never slept on a bed comfortable like the one on which I slept at Wokefield Park! The service is great. The girls at the reception are very kind!

Great location in the middle of the countryside, with a golf course, pool, and plenty of structures to host events, business related or ceremonies. One wing is reserved for Accenture training events, and one building is fully dedicated to the UK BMW Academy. The structure is not exceptionally family friendly, especially with respect to how meals are organized and what food is served. The restaurant has a buffet that ends up with a long queue within minutes, especially if there are many people attending your same event. It can become a little inconvenient to move around the structure with children, especially when it's raining, and the footpaths are not very pram friendly. Aside from that, the structures look great, ideal for business events or marriage receptions and the like. The staff has been impeccably polite and always very helpful.

Horrible layout of hotel rooms across multiple buildings. Some buildings have no safe/well lit path to them. Incompetent staff. A bunch of people (myself included) got room keys to rooms other people were already in. One walked in on a women in bed. Overpriced drinks. Moody bartender.

Fantastic stay! Two nights in a cosy, clean and smart room with a balcony view looking out on to the golf course. Breakfast was great quality food and the staff were very welcoming. Swimming pool was clean and the facilities were good. Stayed for my partners 21st birthday and asked the reception to put flowers in the room. They put fresh white roses, a plate of different puddings saying "happy birthday" and balloons all round the room ready for when we arrived. I couldn't thank them enough. One of the best full English breakfasts I've ever eaten. Thank you!
