Arrived yesterday to meet up with a friend, food service starting from 6.30pm but no option for bar food either after waiting from 5.30pmfor the restaurant service to be open at 6.30pm.
I found the Staff uninterested, no friendly either.
we ordered food when it arrived we didn't got the cutlery, condiments plus we didn't go asked if the food was ok. I say the it has gone down the level of service. I be thinking twice in going to the live music events as well.

First time we been here room over looking the river and room nice outside bar area overlooking the river to.

Dawn band had a great time playing Saturday night at the Thames hotel. A great venue with lovely staff and really appreciate audience!

My daughter just fell down the stairs at the hotel and the staff just sat there and did nothing about it the hotel is not kid friendly or disabled accessible as it only has stairs and no lift.

Well, I travel around lots! I eat in almost every hotel I stay in. Not going to lie, this is some outstanding food! I stay in Maidenhead weekly, I always stay at this hotel because I know I will to get a fantastic meal! Even if you are not staying the night, check out the restaurant!

Manager with the ponytail needs some customer service lessons… the food arrived cold and 1 meal was missed off the order so we waited for 10 mins for the missing meal… had to ask for knives and folks to eat the meals… this place is going backwards…

Lovely little guest house where nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Decor rather dated but was being redone shortly after our stay. Fabulous position with stunning views over the Thames. Would definitely stay again.

Don't bother staying or eating here, it's a disaster and it's not cheap. Rooms are dated and beds uncomfortable. Restaurant was closed for an hour when I wanted to eat as they were serving a party of 33. Surely on a Bank Holiday Saturday large groups should be expected and not cause that level of disruption. The bar staff are equally overwhelmed and inefficient. The table I sat at was very dirty and no effort was made to clean it. If you book to include dinner the options are very restricted. I won't be coming back. This hotel should be a flagship for Maidenhead and indeed for the UK. I worry that tourists from overseas expect much more and take away a really poor impression.

Room is okay Dinner service was good Breakfast was a bit strange. I had to sit with another customer on a small 2 person table? which I refused because I wanted to work on my laptop. She said "but we have a quick turnover" sorry but the room was almost empty!

RATING BASED ON DINING ONLY* Let me explain my stats rating… I've given this place 3 chances at different times of the year and honestly cannot say a single one had a positive dining experience. Lack of staff is a big problem, orders mucked up and burnt food have left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll be voting with my feet and avoiding this place. I will add that each time I've visited it's been with large groups (7-10 people) and despite advance notice they cannot seem to manage this. I've been told smaller groups fair better but the quality of the food is still a gamble. The staff were friendly and do try to help but I feel higher management create these situations with poor planing and staffing levels. Suggest using the 50% off taste card if you still plan to visit, I'd rather not see others waste money… that said I always say try something yourself first before judging… but don't say your weren't warned!

Cafe: Great food. Drinks and food are well priced and the view is great. However, service is terrible. No table service outside, empty glasses will sit on the table for the whole day, always a queue for drinks. Bar staff are friendly but service is slow and not very helpful. Around 6pm there was a queue out the door for food / drinks and took us 25 minutes just to order. People were walking in and leaving straight away because of the queue. Food took like 40 minutes to arrive and had to chase them 3 times for the starter which arrived after the food… would be an amazing place if run better.

For me the 3 stars is for the beautiful old Edwardian building overlooking river views and the friendly gentleman on the reception desk. Our room had nice furnishings and the bed was lovely and comfy but sadly our double room was unbearably hot and the sash windows wouldn't stay open. Although our room had partial river views, it also overlooked the car park. There was an awful modern building dead opposite which was not in-keeping at all with the surroundings. Also because it was so close we couldn't keep our curtains open due to lack of privacy. The bar downstairs was quite grubby and when we went for breakfast in the morning, there were no staff to assist where things had run out and the toaster wasn't working. No lift due to the age of the building (but this what we expected), so wouldn't recommend to people with walking difficulties as the stairs are quite steep. Nice hotel but could do better to make it a 4 star.

Spiders in the room! Horrendous uninhabitable rooms. Disgusting. Amazing location and nice restaurant but highly unpleasant rooms filled with insects.

Very warm rooms. No aircon. Lovely breakfast. Nice building good rooms. Staff great.

This is a very nice place to stay, right on the bridge in Maidenhead. Room clean as a whistle, good size, everything there you need, quiet, excellent self serve breakfast, masses of choice. I see reviews here that say not enough choice. What on earth do these people want? People very pleasant. Very good value for money.

I went here for a drink & to enjoy the sunshine, lovely sitting outside looking over the Thames. Lady who worked in the bar was friendly & chatty but the bar man was not at all friendly, no smile, no hello which was a shame. Menu looked good so will go one evening for a meal.

It was the worsr experience ever. They canceled my reservation the day before check-in without any prior notice despite confirming multiple times on the phone and email so I was left without a place to stay. The problem was that the billing address and home address did not match. However, we had called a month in advance to resolve the issue and received confirmation that it was taken care of and the room was reserved. Then, after traveling all the way from the U. S. I suddenly received an email the day before the check-in that it was already canceled. I called immediately and they said that they will keep the room, but after about an hour I received another email that it was cancelled. When I called again on the day-of to explain the situation, the person on the phone just hang up! It was simply disrespectful, and I was left without a place to stay in a foreign country. I ended up booking another hotel nearby (which happened to be SO MUCH NICER), but it was the last room available. I was here for a conference, but because of this mistake and miscommunication on their side, I alone had to stay separately from the rest of the party. Thames Riviera has the WORST customer service I've ever received, and I would highly discourage staying at this place unless you are ok with your reservation rudely being cancelled last minute without notification.

Great hotel and location food was amazing Had an executive room which was nice only one issue there was a mega draft from the balcony windows! So room was cold but sort from that all was good.

Thr rieviera hotel is at a very nice location with a huge bar/ dining area that extends to the outside terrace by the lake. Our room was nice though a bit outdated. We dtayed at the annex building. I have to say that the tab of the bathroom sink was especially hard to open or close due to lime scale build up. We had a little balconny so that was a plus.

Stayed here a few years ago but was very disappointed this visit. Everywhere very dirty and thick dusty cobwebs. Food order came out different from menu description. Bed was rock hard. Room door did not lock so had to be moved. Overall was very disappointed with hotel but position wise right by the river was wonderful.

The hotel is in a good location, but needs some update as condition of hotel is a bit shabby. Staff are friendly, service could be better as sometimes their attitude comes across as "it's all too much". Rooms need decorating as our bathroom door had a hole in it from where someone kicked it in. Hotel is noisy due to its location. Not a good stay this time.

Easy to find. It's in a nice location with very nice views of the river. Breakfast was good and there was enough of a selection.

Stayed here last night in a room. With river view. Rooms need fully renovated. The windows were completely mouldy around the edge. Curtains were hanging off and ripped. On our balcony the wood was hanging off with a big nail out of it. Bathroom tap only had hot water coming out of it. The list goes on. Could be such a lovely place to stay of they spent a bit of money on it.

First visit for lunch and a most enjoyable experience. Surroundings comfortable, menu and food excellent and the staff were helpful, personable and most courteous. All told an enjoyable experience. Thankyou.

The hotel has just got the views and location, apart from that no good services. Food just ok. I stayed at this hotel on my second visit to Maidenhead and made booking over the call. I had checked the cancellation policy very clear before confirming. After checking out, they handed me over an overpriced wrong invoice and refused to refund and disconnected upfront. Staff lacks courtesy to get back to you with update with just a sorry face. I had high expectations, not impressed at all even with the services.

Can recommend good food.

1st visit was just a quick stop for a coffee and a beer. However, real good atmosphere and pleasant staff. Will definitely return to try the restaurant.

Friendly staff and strategic location! No elevators, so it can be a little tiring particularly if your room is on the second floor and you have a heavy suitcase like me, however I loved my stay. Here is some photos from the breakfast since I haven't seen any!

The hotel is very old you can tell by the amenities that a renovation is way overdue I stayed here for 4 nights and was initially given a room on the second floor. My hot water knob was broken and stuck at near 40'C. Obviously too hot to stand in a shower for longer than 10 seconds After following up with reception I was moved to a room on the first flier and the water was just never hot enough. Just like warm though better than the very hot one Both rooms were corner rooms. Nice view of the river. I did find the lighting a bit lacking in both it just felt awfully dark. Cleanliness could be improved. I opened the kettle trying to boil some water for coffee and I have never been more disgusted in my life. There was white stuff stuck around the bottom. Obviously had not been cleaned in a very very long time Room service is ridiculously overpriced. Simple beef burger and fries is £14 and a £3 room service fee. You definitely get what you pay for in terms of the rooms The staff however are very very helpful.

£96.00 w8th breakfast for a executive room. That was only for the view. The rooms are basic clean but worn. Staines on carpets curtains and even nets! Breakfast was the best part of the stay. Staff friendly. Would I stay again … if I couldn't get anywhere else. Needs attention to detail.

Just had our Christmas lunch. Fabulous service and food was lovely and plenty of it. Highly recommend.

Not good Went with my wife for Christmas lunch. Arrived on time. When the food was served it was warm not hot and my wife's meal was so cold it had to be sent back. We were not offered any condiments IE cranberry sauce with the turkey and had to ask for it. Very poor would not go there again for £160 for the 2 meals it was not worth £40.

Was upgraded to a lovely eastern facing room over the river. Got to watch sun rise over the Thames which was lovely on this crisp morning. Would stay again at this value for money hotel.

Blue River Café is a pretty standard hotel bar café. It looks like it needs a bit of modernisation at first but it has a certain sense of charm. The staff are friendly and the food and drink are good quality for the price.

Slow service but ok food. Used to be buzzing, now somewhat less so. Suggest eating off the menu instead of going for carvery fare on Sundays.

I have been a loyal guest staying here for 2 weekends each month for the last 5 years. There have been numerous incidents over that time of course, including pulling back the bed sheets to find a wet soiled mattress (a particularly nice one that! ), being served “raw” chicken, very poor service on many occasions. The latest (the last straw) was 1:30am Monday (yes late Sunday night) when a party camped down in reception making lots of noise, after 30 minutes it was up to myself to go and sort out the group as the staff were either incapable or scared to do so. I did complain with the manager who said he would get back, but of course he didn't. If you like Fawlty Towers you'll love this place! And one hour after posting this review the manager called to say he has been away and "his" staff had failed to get back to me, when I mentioned this posting he said he had not seen it. Hmm coincidence that after a week of not getting back to me they do one hour after submitting this posting which I also sent to their reception.

Cute restaurant on the river. Was very quiet at the time. Staff were very helpful, and food was brought out in good time. No complaints from me.

We had a meal booked for a special occasion. The food was average but the service was awful. Service staff who didn't understand English. Had to ask twice for a wine list. Had to ask for cutlery. Red wine stuffed in a wine chilled and dumped on the table. Outside the tables were dirty and sticky. Won't bother again.

The interior of the hotel is a bit worn, but it results in a cosy atmosphere. The location near the Maidenhead bridge and the Thames River is nothing short of fabulous. The restaurant have a good selection of dishes and there is also a well equipped bar. The only thing that prevents me from giving a 5 star rating is the lack of air conditioning. The rooms get very warm and damp in the summertime.

Booked a room in the sumer time no air-conditioning. I had a very hot night like sleeping in sauna. The room was small and not very nice. Not sure I will use this place again. It was paid by the company to stay so not sure how expensive but based on room comfort I would not pay more than £30.00

Very poor experience, arrived very late as I had previously told them I would be. Got to room to find it hadn't been cleaned since a previous guests party, discarded cigarette packs and drinks bottles and a messed up bed. Night porter was fantastic and got us a room in another hotel as they had no other rooms. But not a nice experience being moved to another hotel in another town at 1.30am. We had no idea where we were going to but the taxi took about 20 minutes. Had to get a taxi back to collect my car the next day. Popped into reception to register my complaint and found staff attitude very poor, 'well you got a bed and a breakfast' so don't think you are entitled to a refund. Told the manager would ring me at 3pm and didn't. Had to chase them and so far only been given a partial refund. Still awaiting a response from their head office where the complaint was supposedly being escalated to.

Stayed here few times with work, the hotel rooms maybe basic looking but has all you need for a stay, the bar is always busy with both persons staying and few locals which is good, the hotel has a beer garden out front looking on to a cannal nice to sit outside in the summer, very friendly staff and breakfast defo 10/10. Only thing is for me is more menu choice would be better as staying 4nights not alot of choice without having same grub.

I enjoy coming here for an occasional drink. The place has a certain charm and the trump card is the terrace in the summer when you can sit opposite the Thames.
The in-house Trevi restaurant is a traditional Italian restaurant. The take out pizza is amazing. The restaurant is also great and never had a disappointing meal. A riverside asset to Maidenhead.

Enjoyed the food, the staff were friendly, the rooms were lovely, very traditional hotel, good for a night or 2 stay.

Basic and cheap rooms that could do with a bit of paint but staff nice and friendly and the food ain't bad either. I would stay there again.

Been there for 20 years plus and manager at present not friendly… Shame about the management. Could be a great hotel / pub. Never had a problem before… Would avoid now…
