Very friendly and helpful, and rooms lovely and clean. Food is fantastic, 15 mins walk to centre and shopping. Will be back again.

Excellent service for Mother’s Day Carvery. A member of our table has a food allergy and the staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. Food was very good. Will definitely return.

We stayed here 4 nights. Room was lovely and clean as was the hotel. Staff were very helpful. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food was good value. Breakfast was really good witha huge choice of typucally english or french — very enjoyable. Will be going back later this year.

Our Car Club had Easter lunch here last Sunday, there was approx 60 of us. The place was very busy but I have nothing but praise for this hotel.
The food, the staff, the decor and the way the tables were so tastefully decorated was all amazing and I would definitely recommend this place to anybody.
The price too is very hard to beat in this day and age at £17.50 for 3 courses (with plenty of choice) plus tea/coffee & mints.
Well done The Monterey and your team of dedicated staff, I will be back.

Wonderful hotel. Very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was excellent. And the food was superb.

Lovely room. Great big bed. Stayed in superior room on third floor. Lots of hanging space. TV would be best placed hung on wall (tv small). Hairdryer. Nice complimentary bathroom accessories. Tea, coffee, (including de-caf) hot chocolate and biscuits. Great night's sleep. Would definitely stay here again. Only downside waa toilet tissue sheets on wall behind toilet and not on a roll besides toilet.

Lovely hotel with polite and attentive staff. Two swimming pools one indoor and one out. Nice breakfast and good dinner menu. Only fault with it was the distance from the town centre.

Excellent three star hotel with four to five star dining. Comfortable rooms, efficient, helpful staff with just the right level of friendliness. Would definitely stay here again.

Easy to walk into town from this hotel serves excellent food and the staff are really good.

While this place is clean due to friendly efficient house keeping. There are things that need changing. Superior does not just mean a large room, still had thick duvets so hot and uncomfortable to sleep, not enough plugs, the TV was small so unable to watch. Drawers awkward to open. In the bathroom fighting with shower curtain and shower head leaked. Continental breakfast needs work as limited. Eggs are overcooked but good selection for hot buffet. Has 2 pools, so nice to cool off in, which are well maintained.

Sunday carvery food and value excellent, just slightly limited range of vegetables.

Very good the swimming pool and the spa is very enjoyable and relaxing.

Stayed New Years eve 2016 … superb evening. Nothing was too much trouble… friendly staff and competitive bar prices… will definitely stay again and would thoroughly recommend.

We stayed at the Monterey during the Battle of the Flowers, and Moonlight parade. We had an excellent stay, can not fault the service. Accommodation, such great friendly attentive staff, food excellent. Would certainly recommend and stay there again. Many thanks to everyone.

We stayed at the Monterey Hotel over the Christmas break 2015. We had a wonderful time, the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional when carrying out their duties and off duty. The hotel and rooms are old style from the era it was built, so the rooms are quite large but well maintained and comfortable. The meals and choice at each sitting made selecting very difficult as they all look so good and tasty. The bar room got a bit crowded and the entertainment squeezed into the corner which in a way made it more friendly more of a family atmosphere. Hopefully we can get booked in again this Christmas.

My daughter and mother spent five days at the Monterey at the beginning of October. The rooms did not have a good view, but that was to be expected for an hotel not close to the sea and in an urban setting. However, they both had comfortable rooms, with clean towels daily. The food was good and plentiful and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. They both said they would be happy to return to this hotel any time and would recommend it to others.

Old hotel some good points some bad just make sure u get to breakfast before the 10. Am deadline.

Pool and pleasant hammam, giant bed, by however little flat for the Lil lunch: food is good, but one must always asked for.

When booking asked for a ground floor with a view. When booking in was told if we wanted a view we would have 2 go on 2nd floor. When we got 2 room the view was of a flat roof. After complaining was told hotel was fully booked up. Rang our courier who was no help as she was drunk. Will deffo be complaining when we get home.

We booked a Channel Island holiday with Preston Travel, who specialise in accomodation in the Channel Isles. Well, perhaps they should send one of their team incognito to visit the hotels we were booked into. This was the first of three, we were travelling with friends, we are all aged 50+. We have nice homes, are good hardworking people and appreciate quality. When booking the holiday we were aware that one couple would have a room with a sea view, and the other couple would have just a standard room. We chose to have the standard room, and what a disgrace it was. On the ground floor, room 53, dark, smelled damp, and a bathroom the size of a cupboard, with mouldy tiles. Absolutely disgusting, the bed felt damp and we were literally 'surrounded' by sound, out in the hall, above us sounded like there was a disco going on for elephants, and people being shown where to put their bicycles, directly outside our open bedroom window! Thankfully Preston Travel's Kate got us moved to a better room, (still not marvellous), but she was helpful. Our clothes were damp as we got them out of the wardrobe to move rooms, and smelled really horrible. I just couldn't believe how Preston Travel can really justify sending people to such a place. They need to have a re-think on which hotels they are promoting. Perhaps we are doing them a favour by reporting back, who knows?
