Honua Kai - Hokulani 829 Hotel

Great resort with good service. We had a nice view of the ocean from our balcony. There is a beach that is connected to the resort that is decent. The rocks after the sand can make it difficult to get out. There are 3 pools and a green space before the beach that don’t get too crowded. The parking garage below the resort can get full past 7pm, but there is valet parking available. There are plenty of good places to eat around the resort and it is a only short drive away from Old Lahaina.

We stayed her on our trip to Maui. We thoroughly enjoyed the ocean front condo we stayed in for a week. The whales swam right in front of the resort every morning, it was magical. Our condo was immaculate and met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations. The bathroom was huge and I loved the oversized tub — it was great after a day at the beach or hiking. Parking was not an issue.

Excellent facilities!

Everything was amazing! The room was great in size, one bedroom, full kitchen, dining and living area with sofa bed, and full patio. We were on the second floor overlooking mountains. Unfortunately we happen to have the room with palm trees blocking the view, but not a deal breaker at all. There was construction in front of the area, but totally invisible to us if you ask me. The noise didn't bother us one bit. Seamless. The pools are very clean and beautiful, very kid friendly. Never overpacked or crowded severely. They even offer rentals for snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, umbrellas, super convenient. Coffee shop, very yummy! Access to the beach was my favorite part! Kids were able to see fish and even a turtle! Recommend this place 100%, family, couples, friends, any type of party! Would definitely stay here again!

Room size is great but this hotel in general is too big for our liking. Too many people, pools are always crowded and it is difficult to get a lounge chair. The reason I gave this place 3 stars was because the front desk staff (not all but 3 out of the 4 we had encounters with) were rude to work with. One in particular, tossed the room bands on to the counter. Valet staff were more helpful than the front desk staff. Location seems good for the west side. The beach is nice. Would we stay here again? No.

Honua Kai was an absolute paradise! The resort is simply beautiful, and it has awesome amenities and the staff is top notch. The lawns and flowers are gorgeous and well maintained. One of the best restaurants in the area, Duke's, is right there on the premises, and their bartenders and staff are amazing. You MUST try the Awapuhi drink. Honua Kai is located in a perfect spot close to many beautiful beaches and other vacation spots. If I ever get the chance to return to Maui, I will definitely be staying at Honua Kai again.

Spectacular luxury resort. Luxury suites with great pools and an amazing beach. The location is great — a short walk from the supermarket (to stock your full kitchen, or meat for the numerous grills on property), restaurants and coffee shops. The suites are huge — we had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with a huge lanai and ocean view with Ocean breezes. The suite was the best room I've ever stayed in.
