Do not, I repeat DO NOT stay at this roach motel. Let me start off first by saying the proximity to the beach was definitely wonderful. However, this reminded me of Bates Motel. The room service and the upkeep/environment surrounding this hotel is complete garbage. My sister and I stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights, we first arrived and thought that we were staying in an okay hotel… with a nice view of the lake behind us. What we did not know is that the hotel is infested with mosquitoes and roaches. In total my sister and I killed about 5 roaches in our room, plus we found a baby roach in the bed sheets (that housekeeping never changed). The floors were completely dirty, the bottom of my feet was literally black the whole entire trip. The housekeeping have horrible attitudes and does not want to do their jobs and the manager himself is a nuisance. Every morning housekeeping would bang on our door like they were the police doing a raid and the manager is nosey always coming outside when my sister and I were leaving. There was drug activity going on in the lot next to the hotel, and the staff is just horrible. This was a waste of $644 and I will definitely not be returning to this hotel EVER AGAIN. Also, because I checked in early I was charged a $35 fee and after explaining the horrible conditions that the room was in, the manager charged my sister and I $45 for a late fee upon check out. Please heed my warning and stay away from this hotel at ALL COSTS!

Very clean and well arranged rooms, friendly owners whom also work there. Very polite as well.

Location and parking are great for ocean experience. You get what you get for a 2 star hotel. Pool staff was very rude to the children when it came time to clean the pool. Location is good.

Cons: Several outlets and lamps didn't work. Overall look wasn't great. (Not like pictures) Pros: parking for one vehicle, staff is nice, view of a nice pond from the back, close to the beach, pricing not terrible.

This is the WORST place I've ever stayed! I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody but drug dealer's and prostitutes! The owner himself is a drug dealer and allowed drug activity to go on in the parking lot and rooms. The police were called my last night there and they informed me that it was very unsafe and dangerous to stay there due to the drug activity and they have been watching the hotel for a few months! The room was okay when we first walked in. It wasn't until later that we noticed all of the nastiness! Apparently the room was flooded and their half ass attempts to repair it were awful. We all also ended up at the local first care because we couldn't breath after waking up in the room on day 2! Please, especially if you have children, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER A SINGLE SECOND THERE! Pictures below. The outlets were a fire hazard and when we went to take a shower, there was a nasty dirty washcloth laying in the tub. I forgot to take pics of the mold around the air conditioner unit and the nasty blankets that we didn't use that had stain on them. We had to purchase blankets and towels from Wal-Mart. Stay away from this place… unless drug activity and prostitutes are your thing. I'm by no means against someone smoking some Mary J, but the drug activity wasn't just Mary… I only gave it 1 star because I couldn't write a review unless I did.

The worst hotel I've ever been too. Checked out after 10 minutes. Tried showing me 3 rooms to stay there. All three were dirty and smelled terrible. While sitting in parking lot finding a new hotel I became a witness in a drug arrest/resisting arrest. Police said they arrested multiple people there a night. And as we were leaving that were raiding another room.

Cozy little hotel on beautiful lake. Very close to beach. Friendly staff. Great price.

This is a warning to all please do not ever stay at Sea Shire Inn and Suites the staff is highly unprofessional they lack the experience needed to run and inn. This is a horrible property and it should be eradicated from Virginia Beach and taken over by professionals who understand what it means to serve customers provide quality service and it's a disgrace to be on the map.

Nice local but dirty and smoke infested. Rooms over look a pretty inlet but that is by far the best thing.

This is the absolute nastiest place I've ever seen. Its not suitable for anyone. The place is over run with junkies and other sketchy characters. I checked in because of the misleading photos online. Once I enter the room the dank oder of cigarettes and filth was completely overwhelming. I pulled back the comforter and there was body hair everywhere. I returned to the office and complained only to be giving another key to a room just as filthy and funky. I didn't receive a refund, but was ok with that! Please save yourself NEVER EVER STAY AT THE SEASHIRE INN it's absolutely disgusting.

This place is DISGUSTING! I understand you get what you pay for, but nobody pays to be in a room where it's infested with bed bugs in the beds AND the couches, the "non-smoking room" reaked of cigarettes, and the room was dirty in general. Stains on the pillow cases, the wash cloths, even the heater wasn't working properly. And what made it worse was we went to the manager and showed him proof and he blatantly said we were lying and that he wouldn't give us a refund at all. Please do not risk it and stay here, it is not worth it at all.

Though I wasn't staying at the Seashire I was visiting a friend who was. The room was fairly clean although the heat pump was not working properly. I was there for a little over an hour and the maintenance department never responded.

Nice place little bit of an weird food oder but nothing to bad.

Was going to book this hotel. Website I was using originally said the deposit would be charged based off the hotel's policy and to contact the hotel to find out how much that would be. I called the hotel. He said the deposit would be ONE night. A week later, I go to book the room and now it says the deposit is 100% of the stay (under the "pay at hotel" option). Apparently the hotel changed their policy. And now after reading reviews on here, I'm glad I didn't book the hotel.

Nastiest hotel ever! I almost slept in the car. White stains on the couch, not clean at all. The extra pillow provided had a brownish red stain on it (looked like blood stain), my sheets had a shoe print stained on it, even the ironing bored had something all over it. The TV in the living part would only provide one channel, half the lights were flickering or didn't work. Tried to call front desk only to find it didn't work because someone had cut the line! Told the lady and she just blew it off like she didn't care. I'm okay with a little age but everything was falling apart and stained. Nothing like the pictures here show. Bathroom was the cleanest but no hot water to shower with. I don't recommend it all. I'd post the pics here if I could.

Absolutely horrible. We stayed there this past weekend. We had a suite. They did not bother to tell us that we would have to pay for additional parking if we brought more than one vehicle. First off, it's a suite mean't for at least six people. Chances are, there will be more than one vehicle. So that was an extra $40. We also woke up to a bed bug, yes one, but one was enough. My gf gas suffered an allergy due to it. The rude older Indian woman was rushing us to leave at 10:30 when check out time wasn't until eleven. Do not stay there. The Indian people are rude and the place has bed bugs.

Booked on June 21st and told them how many people was gonna be in the room and the charged me extra and then when my sister went to ask for extra towel the owner was rude and said I only told him 2 people which was a lie I said 6. Later that night I got a friend to drive 4 hours down and she booked the room beside us. During the night I woke up and there was roaches in bathroom and when we told the manager the next morning he was rude again asking why we didn't come down at 3am to tell them. I had my 11 month old and 4 year old with me who was asleep so I did not want to wake them. But I do not recommend staying there ever. We stayed there 2 years ago when it was under a different name and management and loved it but now it's plan nasty. Ended up going to Super 8 with a Balcony overlooking beach for $30 more and the hotel was 10 times better and the people were super sweet.

The price was right and the location was good. Other than that, not the best stay. Didn't expect much, but I booked a room with a lake view balcony but upon arrival was told all those rooms were taken. Prepaid via Expedia before my trip but was still charged an extra $5/day for a "convenience charge". Hate that. The room seemed clean and the staff seemed prompt, but there are a lot of other places I'd recommend in the area, even keeping the cheap price in mind.

Great hotel for the price. Close to the beach, on the lake. Got to see fish, turtles and ducks. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms could be a little cleaner, but overall expierence has been great.

This place was absolutely nasty. We read all reviews before coming, but we still came due to knowing that there is going to be ppl giving one of those reviews everywhere. Well here goes what went on with us. We walked in everything was damp and smelled like Clorox was just poured in sink and tube and that was their cleaning. The sheets in bed looked like they haven't been changed (good thing I bring my own every time). Behind our bed smelled like 100 year old mold. Our shower didn't work it have someone's curly black hairs all over it. The staff was friendly but rooms I would not stay in ever again. Oh yeah and fridge half ass works. Not enough plugg in's.

Quite possibly one of the worst places I've ever stayed at. The rooms are out dated, dirty and half the light don't work. The staff isn't friendly or accomadating. When I came back from the beach I realized that the door to my room was unlocked. The manager tried to fix it but couldn't. The manager moved us to another room and after inspecting the sheets and bed we found hair, pubs and other stains. When I brought this to the managers attention he moved us yet again… to another dirty room. We showed him the hair, he even picked it up! The manager DENIED that the room was dirty even then! I asked to speak to the owner after the manager refused to refund my night so I could go find another hotel. The owner also denied that the room could be dirty because she inspects them every morning. Two rooms that had hair all over the beds is both unclean, sanitary or acceptable. Do not stay here whatever you do!

Booked a room in the off season. When I tried to check in some male arse, said "you called and canceled"… Which was a lie. He did it only because he was greedy charged a higher price and my bus wouldn't take up 3 parking spaces. Negative 5 stars!

Went down for memorial weekend it was great! cheap room and close to everything! the beach was one block up! had a great view of the little lake in the back and also the pool right in front. Room service comes everyday just to make sure you have everything you need. I will definitely be coming back again.

Let me start off by saying that I understand that you get what you pay for,   and not everyone,   including me,   can afford a nice hotel for one night after a wedding,   however,   I hope that this review might sway someone to pick another cheap/the next cheapest,   etc,   hotel nearby.   do not stay here if there is literally any other option,   especially if you have asthma,   migrane triggers,   or another medical condition affected by extreame chemical smells or pesticides,    or if you want to be able to move your car to leave,   or not be woken up at early morning hours/late night hours to move your car so someone else can leave. My family and I (7 of us,   5 singles,   1 couple) booked 3 rooms to crash in after a wedding.   The parking is ridiculous,   and because we had 4 cars and only 3 rooms,   they wanted to charge us an extra 30 dollars to park it there,   although we were in fact able to evade that because they had never ever mentioned this during any of the 5 phone calls back and fourth to ensure we had this place after the wedding.   The parking is extremely limited,   meaning,   they pack everyone in to block eachother in.   I assumed that they had taken down the times when everyone was leaving so that blocking eachother in wasn't a problem,   but absolutly not.   At 7:30 AM they came pounding on our door because some poor soul THEY had parked me blocking in needed to leave.

Great motel to stay at! Good sized rooms! Plenty of cable TV channels. Perfect location, near the beach about 1.5 blocks to 2 blocks to the beach. Cool up to date key cards used to enter the room instead of those cards you slide into a slot. Here you just put your card up against the door lock and the door signal opens up. I'll come here again and recommend this place to my dad and brothers when they visit me out here for the first time. -Eric E.

This was the worst experience I ever had. I would never EVER come back to this horrible hotel and I've only been here for 30 minutes. It was a bug in my room. They gave my friend and I too many problems. Poor customer service and very rude. Do not waste your money on this place.

Pretty good only problem I had was that there's no phone in the room and upon arrival, the room had a weird smell to it.

This Inn offers great rates and polite customer service for their guest. They offer fair and unbeatable daily and weekly rental rates. Look: your not paying highline resort prices locally that can be 300% greater. The two gentlemen at the front desk are cordial and assisted me with my request to the best of their ability. Therefore; I think a 4 star rating is suitable.

This was the worst experience ever in a "hotel" the room was dirty and through the course of the night it completely flooded. All the way to the 1st bed. Here for a funeral and my writing for my uncle is 40% destroyed. Owner won't at the very least give me half money back. Sentimental words destroyed. No customer service what so ever. I asked for $20 back from a $58 payment. I would highly highly say never use this place again. You would think common courtesy as a business owner you would tell me before I check in that the pipes burst.

The maintanence is very poor. The door for the porch doesn't lock (even after I've changed the room) the water in the shower are warm but not truly hot. The heater isn't working (the owner gave me another small one which is better than nothing but barely enough). The non-smoking room was extremely smelling from cigarettes including the bedsheets, to the degree that in the morning my clothes that I went to sleep with were smelling heavily from cigarettes as well. I asked the owner (which is also the manager which is also the front desk man which is also the maintanence guy) to fix the hot water issue — and he began to shout at me, asked me to leave the hotel (though I paid in advance for a week) and when I explained CALMLY that I work everyday until 9:00 pm and need a hot shower at 10:00 he left the front desk angrily, and shouted mother f*****. I think that is enough for this place. The only good things are cheap price and nice view to the lake. This place have potential but couldn't be run by one man and a cleaner.

Please do not waste your money! I booked this room by the looks of the picture that It was decent for a one night trip to quickly rest on a road trip down south. I was instantly greeted by the stench in the room and the piece of wood hanging on the railings. We had a long drive down to VA so I needed to take my child to the bathroom. The towels were brown and they were supposed to be white. The towels were so discolored that I told my child not to touch the towels because I did not know if they were clean. Once my fiancé got to the room he immediately notice the hanging air conditioner unit and said do not touch it there maybe faulty wiring. Once he sat down on the chair he jumped up because something bites him on his thigh (left a huge bump) we didn’t stay in the room longer than 10 min. I rushed down stairs and POLITELY asked for a refund. The front desk guy said no in a rude tone as I tried to remain calm. He began to be very sarcastic and rude. As I stood at the desk he stood firm on his no refund policy needless to say I was out of $100 bucks. As I stood there letting the gentleman know in those conditions my children could not sleep in that room. He didn’t give two F***’s. I said to him “What if your children were tired from the road would you subject them to this” and he did not answer. I ended up leaving and getting a BETTER room from DAYS INN on 10th and Atlantic (I think it was very late).

If I could give this hotel 1/2 of a star I would've. Upon arrival I thought to myself Ive made a horrible decision. Once we were given our room key my friend and I went to check out the room. When I say it was beyond disgusting. There were bugs flying all over the ceiling. There was also bugs on the wall where someone killed them and left them on the wall. So I went back to reception are demanded a new room. When we got our new keys a couple came up to me and said did they try to give you the dirty room, they gave us the same room we had to switch. The rooms smell horrible. I had to take all of the bedding off and use my own. There were stains on the chairs and the decor was horrible. Its the optima of a roach motel which is highly over price. Next time I will definitely make reservations to stay else where. Like the Hampton Inn.

I paid 200.64. For one night just be locked out my room with no hotel attendant or maintenance person available. Somebody will give me my money. Next time, I will go with my what I know and pay more for a room.

Me and my Family has been coming to the sandpiper for the last five years. We will continue to come back every year. The staff is so friendly and the rooms are always clean and the pool is always sparkling clean. Did I mention that it is very affordable. We love the sandpiper inn.

Why can't there be negative stars! TERRIBLE! I was DOUBLE charged (not only double charged but OVER CHARGED) by this place and they will not give me a refund. They will not speak with me or give me management's number. The place looked like crap, nothing like the pictures. And it smelled awful. $40 for an early check-in! The parking was AWFUL. I got a phone call early in the morning to go move my car because somehow a car parked on the grass BEHIND me, and I hadn't moved my car since I got there WTF.

This is a horrible place to stay! I was quoted $159.99 for one night at this motel. When I got my credit card statement it was for $211.19. When I asked why they stated it was because I had two kids in the room with me. What's funny is I don't have kids nor did I ever say there were kids with me. When I argued the amount stating this, they said sorry not their fault. They put me in a non-smoking room that smelled like an ashtray and had cigarette burns on the mattress and A/C unit. There is not enough parking in their small lot for all the guests which means if you leave to go to dinner, good luck finding a spot when you get back. Basically, stay anywhere but here.

This was one of our worst experiences ever! After driving 4 hours we pull into a hotel we don't recognize. The pictures here are not current at all! They tried to charge us for 1 night when I told them that I would NOT be staying there! After letting them know that there is no possible way for me to know what horrible condition this hotel was in from 4 hours away. After a few minutes later they agreed and we were not charged. And we left as soon as possible! The condition of the hotel. The people surrounding the hotel and the location were all horrible! Do not recommend at all.

This motel is the most nastiest dirtiest motel I have ever seen. Do not go here. It has roaches. I stayed here for a year and it was just horrifying. The doors can easily be opened without a key so anyone can steal your belongings. The housekeepers go into your room when they know youve gone and search through your things. Do not go here. I reapeat. Do not go here u will regret it.

This place stays in business only as a last resort. ~200 per night for 2 double beds with kitchenette bath microwave and "fridge. " The fridge did not work and there was a roach inside of it, hard beds and blankets with holes in them and no food. Only good thing about this place is the location in relation to the beach.

I wish this rating had a negative star rating. I don’t know who in their right mind would give this hotel anything more than one star. They must be fake reviews. I have never experienced such poor customer service. The Manager would tell customer’s to hold so that she could Tend to about 4 Kids that were running around in the back and even came to the from with what I hope was some kind of diaper cream all over her hands and a baby on the hip. The rooms was nothing like we were told they would be from expedia or there website. I was told by expeidia and their website that they had kitchens in their rooms only to find that they did not. The beds sounded like and felt like they were from the 60's it smelled bad and was not clean at all. You might as well have slept on the streets. They were going to charge me upwards of about 200+ dollars a night. I thought I was getting somewhere when they finally agreed to cancel my reservation and refund my money after hrs of being on the phone with my bank and expedia. Only to find the next day the hotel charged my card again. I even had to call the police to come help me with what was going on. They charged my account so many times that I had to cancel my card and put in disputes with the bank I ended up staying at the Barclay Towers in an ocean front suite for 240 an night and it was well worth it.
