Agnes was a hoot. I really enjoyed her humor. She was super accommodating and allowed us to store a few items we purchased whilst visiting. My husband surprised me with a stay here for our anniversary weekend and to see a BlackHawk concert. The Harvester venue is literally within a 5 minute walking distance, making this inn a perfect accommodation. The home itself was beautiful. We had freshly prepared breakfast the entire weekend. Beverages were readily available in the mini fridge. Towels were fluffy, bedding super soft. My only neutral comment is that we couldn’t figure out the thermostat and our room ran warm. However, I’m sure it’s more user error and not the fault of the Inn. We didn’t mention it because we didn’t want to be impolite. We would hands down visit here again and thank the staff for making our weekend a memorable one. -Mr and Dr Smith.

I have never stayed at a B&B that didn't offer breakfast! The house is beautiful, but there is no one around… we came here to relax and celebrate my birthday… what a let down. Very disappointing, especially since we drove 3 hours to get here.

Absolutely one of the best places I have stayed at in a long time. The staff made you feel at home, the house is breathtaking and the room I had was an absolute gem! I will definitely recommend and stay here again. Loved it!

Went to “Prime Rib and Seafood” event. The food was scrumptious and plentiful. As always, ate too much.

The room and Inn are very beautiful. All of the other B&B’s have an innkeeper or someone there during the day when you arrive. We just feel someone there makes a personal touch. Our TV didn’t work and I texted the person they told us what to do and it still didn’t work. They never offered any other assistance. We did not feel that much was offered for the continental breakfast.

Such a beautiful place, peaceful, they always go out of here way to make it special.

A beautiful historical place nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located in the quaint town of Rocky Mount, Va. Home of the moonshine capital of the world. Great rooms with all of the amenities you could expect and great food as well. Local folk art, farmers market and distillery, bank and post office all within walking distance. It is also part of the historical Crooked Road. A great place to visit!

Prime rib and seafood buffet was awesome. Food a plenty and music was fantastic. Very spacious and adhered to social distancing.

Beautiful property, spacious rooms, marvelous innkeeper/chef, Agnes, and delicious breakfast. The property provides charming rooms that are rich in history but also provides modern convenience. It was a wonderful getaway. The inn also catered a cocktail party for us that was absolutely perfect.

Had the absolute most amazing time staying at The Early Inn this weekend! We brought our dog and he was immediately welcomed. We stayed in the Cottage Suite and it was such a lovely room. We got the chance to look at other rooms that were not currently occupied and they are equally as beautiful and spacious! So much room, you feel right at home. The bathrooms are updated and lovely. Our cottage suite had a little sitting room with a fireplace — very cozy! The Inn Keeper, Agnes, cooked delicious breakfast Saturday and Sunday and was extremely friendly and great to talk to. Wish we didn’t have to leave! Will definitely be back.

Stayed at Early Inn overnight to attend the Penny & Sparrow concert at Harvestor across the street. Beautiful place! From the graciousness of Kim in helping us check in to the lovely fellow foodie/chef conversation shared with Chef Agnes. The entire experience was awesome.
Beautiful room, comfortable, luxurious bedding, heated floor in bathroom, extra large, dual & rain head shower, hot coffee & delicious breakfast! We couldn’t have asked for more.
Location so convenient! We parked, checked in and walked to dinner at BSides and then show.

My family and I attended my cousin's wedding this weekend at the Early Inn. We had the awesome pleasure of staying at the inn as well! We were extremely pleased with the staff, the grounds, the rooms, and the weekend breakfast that we asked if we could move in! Rocky Mount is a great little town with a world class music venue and great bar located right across the street from the inn. I would definitely return!

Beautiful Inn… AMAZING rooms. Beds are so comfortable. Air conditioning really quiet. I feel like a Queen.

Our room was great we stayed in the Magnolia room. Great room very comfortable. Breakfast was superb. Very nice quiet walk around the yard. It was just a great time.

We came for the Mother’s Day Spa Day and booked for the night at the Inn. The house is beautiful, the staff has been amazing, and we have more than loved our stay. Quiet and peaceful! A place you must visit! The magnolia room is our favorite, but each room is beautiful and luxurious!

Very nice staff. The home was beautiful. We stayed with our little boy and got the room with two queens. We booked the room the same day as were traveling from a long distance and needed a place to crash. I am so done with chain hotels and I wanted something different. This was perfect. The room was very nice, very comfortable. Everything appeared clean for the most part, the bathroom floor was a bit dirty, but not awful. The smell of the sheets was overpowering. It was a nice smell but not for all night long. We are sensitive to smells so it was too much for us. I know the man told us that the bathroom was not in the same room but in my travel brain fog it didn't register until we actually saw it with our eyes. We were the only people in the whole place and I wondered into one of the other rooms. It was fantastic with a huge tub and fabulous shower. I quickly begged my husband to let us move to another room. He didn't agree. AGH! The bathroom was down the hall but it was our bathroom alone; one wouldn't have to share it if there are other people staying. The entire place bubbles over with comfort and ease. I wanted to stay another day to just rest however my husband was bent to get home. As a matter of fact I think he gave a review of this place and complained of the bed making noise and blah, blah… ignore that review. He was a grump from long travel and sore body. Travel does not agree with his fibro wracked body and I give mercy for his aches and foul mood.

It's like country shabby meets Colonial. The headboards were made from skids and every time you moved in the bed it banged on the wall. The bathroom that was down the hall was dirty. The noise from the highway was loud and woke me up around 5 am. If your sensitive to smells the bedding was very flower smelling and gave me a headache. Maybe I'm a little more picky then you may be. I just want my money's worth.

Exceeded my expectations in every way! The rooms are of high quality. Very antique style but updated for comfort. We stayed in the Wonderlust room and it was so homey! I slept great on the bed and I'm very picky about mattresses. It has it's own bathroom. Some other rooms have shared bathrooms. The price is amazing for how amazing this inn is! The innkeepers were all really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. It's also pet friendly, so my little guy felt right at home.

A cozy hideaway with historical importance and friendly staff.

It's probably a lot of work to retain the character of an old house, while providing the amenities that today's consumers have come to enjoy. The Early Inn has figured it out. Our room was comfy and well equipped, and the staff couldn't have been any friendlier. I'm not a 5 Star kind of customer, but they earned it.

I was so impressed with the entire experience. Our room was large, inviting and comfortable. Brian the owner has turned this property into a 5 star Gem and one of the best places to stay in Franklin County or anywhere in the surrounding counties. Mike who wears many hats at the inn is an excellent chef and made us feel so welcomed. I will recommend this as a great place to stay and visit to all my family, friends and co-workers. This should be one everyone's list of things to do and places to go when in this wonderful town of Rocky Mount, Va.

My wife and I recently attended a venue at the Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount, VA. We did not want to drive home after the evening performance and so we booked a room at the Early Inn which is situated within a very short walking distance to the Harvester. That was a big plus for us…no fuss no parking issues and a great time to stroll through the town. The Greek Revival Style house, built in 1854, is situated on 10 wooded acres of ancient oaks and was occupied by confederate general Jubal Early. From the moment you enter the B&B you realize that your home. There’s no fanfare, no cash register, no sign in. Mike is awesome both in personality and as a first-rate chef. Our room was spacious and loaded with amenities…5 stars.

A fantastic place to stay in the Rocky Mount area. Wonderful accommodations, great location to Roanoke and Smith Mountain Lake as well. The food is unbelievably delicious and like nothing this area has seen honestly. Chef Michael also is the Innkeeper here and not one thing is overlooked. His staff is warm and accommodating. This is truly an Inn unlike any others that I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

The Early Inn is a beautiful bed and breakfast. However, make sure to double and triple check your reservations. They double-booked us and we returned to the inn after a morning appointment to find that we were packed up and moved out. I wish the whole thing had been handled a little better. It was really unfortunate because up until then, we were really impressed with the inn and its innkeeper/chef, Mike.

In the past I worked with partial owner, Bryan Hochstein, and chef, Michael Carroll — — I can vouche that their intentions to please are from the heart! The inn is just down the street from the hospital, a few blocks away from the historic court house, and within walking distance to Harvester Performance Center. Also within walking distance: locally owned shops, coffee houses, cafes, and day spas. Rocky Mount, VA is s charming little town, and Early Inn at the Grove will make your visit warm and cozy!

Comfy rooms, considerate, helpful, and friendly owner. Tasty food. Plenty of amenities. Beautiful locale, architecture, and design.

I took my daughter to visit Ferrum College and stayed at the beautiful Grove. The hospitality was amazing, and the rooms were luxuriously decorated and equipped with everything we needed, from complimentary toiletries to soft, plush robes, to the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. Carrie treated us to a delicious breakfast and great historical anecdotes about the house and the town. We saw an amazing show at the Harvester right across the street, which is run by her husband, and even enjoyed chatting into the wee hours with the band that played there, since they also stayed at the Grove. A week-long or mini vacation for the locals or tourists really hits the spot, especially if you plan on having your wedding on the estate. I will recommend the Early Inn @ the Grove to everyone. From dinner at the Bootlegger's Cafe, previously known as the Coca Cola Bottling Co. To the amazing Blue Ridge Antiques Shop, to the historical buildings and museums… you can't help but appreciate this small town and its wonderfully kind people. Natalya.
