It was affordable and you got what you paid for — a room with a bed, bathroom and tv. Comfortable enough but not luxury. Bed was comfortable but pillows were flat as flat can be. Clean enough though. Pool looked clean. Housekeeping was terrible. Left room at 8am and returned around 4pm and all the towels were gone and bed not made. Went to front desk and was told they remove the towels to wash them then come around to do the rooms when they are done so our room never got cleaned as we gave up around 6pm and put the do not disturb sign on the door. Would I stay again? Yes, but I know what to expect and it wouldn't be my first choice. You get what you paid for — but bring extra towels.

Very friendly and laid back. They went above and beyond from start to finish. Perfect location. Clean and bright!

This is not the nicest/newest hotel on the island, but it was relatively cheap. Our room was a single Queen and somewhat small, but clean. The manager at the desk was very friendly and welcoming. They have a small grill area with picnic tables and a pool that we didn't use but looked well maintained.

If this is America's Best Value I really don't want to know what the worst value is. But if you want to feel like Gordon Ramsay in an episode of Hotel Hell, this is the place for you. We booked this on a busy weekend for Chincoteague because of its great location. Big mistake. Those pictures you see in the photos above? Not even remotely accurate. The lighting is nowhere close to what is shown in the photos, in fact, it was dingy. The room was also smaller than it appears in the photos and was a very cramped space. But above all it was FILTHY. The room was booked as non-smoking. First thing we notice BEFORE we even walk into the room are ash trays outside our room and the rooms adjacent. We walk in and it reeks of smoke, and we notice is that there are cigarette burns in the bed comforters (see image). We took a closer look at the comforters and there were stains (some possibly bugs, others, who knows what) over all the sheets as well as other holes (see images). The amount of dust CAKED on the walls around the bed post, in the TV cabinet, on the lamps, and air conditioner (with some mold too) made it clear this place hadn't been cleaned properly in months, possibly even years. See images. Thankfully the owner/manager was somewhat flexible and we were able to leave early. We had to work a deal to cancel the other days on our reservation, and ended up booking another hotel an hour outside of Chincoteague because everything was full for the weekend.

Very good experience. Innkeeper was very helpful about places to eat and getting around the island.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. However, I was very disappointed in the suite. It was smaller than pictures had shown, the heat barely worked, I had no hot water to use the jetted tub that I looked forward to, the electrical outlets were damaged, making it impossible to plug the lamp/alarm clock in. The television remote worked periodically, and no guide or even a TV guide to see what was on. The only thing I liked about my stay at this hotel (motel) was the staff upon my arrival, and the location.

I would give it a zero if I could. I know it is the off-season but the service was lousy. We had no hot water the entire night we couldn’t take showers l. When we called the office nobody would answer the phone. We tried to check out at 8 o’clock and tell them, of course nobody was in the office. We had to go hunt them down and when we did tell the guy, we only got him got bitching about other customers. He never even said sorry or offered anything. He said he would have his wife call us but the lady in the office never did. Not even to say I’m sorry. Save your money and go somewhere else!

The staff was great. I do understand that they allowed smoking in the building but I feel like they could have done better with making the room not smell so strongly of it, other than that we didn't have any problems!

I've been living on the Eastern Shore over half of life. This has been the worst experience ever. The toilet broke and it's winter time, now imagine not having hot water while you're away dealing with an sudden in the family. Yes! No water.

Very disappointed in my stay. There was no hot water, the room was not the size as advertised, and the toilet handle broke.

The manager is super nice. Rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Pool was clean. Enjoyed! Thank you.

This place will dissappoint you. Can't figure out why Tripadvisor is recommending the place. Rooms smell, breakfast is poor, place is not maintained very well. We wouldn't recommend it.

Great place to stay. It is a little older so don't expect all new items. Raman was very helpful when we had questions. Our goddaughter got sick and they washed her clothes and blankets for us. We also had our godson decide to join us by coming a month early!

Perfect for a couple day visit. Rooms were clean. Mattresses were comfortable. Every streamline cable channel. Air conditioner ran well, and the over all room was spacious. The pool was a nice size & clean! I would stay here again. By the way, they are dog friendly.

Stayed for cheap price, got what we paid for. Nothing overtly wrong, everything is functional and moderately nice. Just mostly old and cheap.

Best customer service along with nice rooms highly recommend staying here.

We stay here every time we come to chincoteague, it's not the Ritz but it's a fun family spot, Raymond is the best! My family and I feel more than welcome here!

The room was ok but the hotel supports racism and prejudice to people of color. Another occupant complained that we were on the property after paying for our room. The property manager basically asked us to leave cause us buying one night wasn't worth the other occupant staying 3 nights. After a racially charged argument we were forced to not be seen or make noise. We own Harley Davidson's and was on vacation and every where else was booked. Forced to stay but this was my worst experience in VA.

It was a very unpleasant experience speaking with whom ever answered the phone. Not very helpful and lots of demands. You will not be getting my money! On the other hand if you want a solid Hotel with great manors reach out to "The Lighthouse Hotel"! To be continued.

The clerk was friendly but I could barely understand him. The room was small and well worn. The parking lot was too small for the number of people using it. This motel has seen better days and is very over priced for the quality and level of service provided. Wireless internet worked intermittently. To be fair, the AC, TV, and plumbing worked fine. I should have kept driving or spent the night in my car.

Before check in the owner was rides on the phone when confirming they had a room that allowed dogs to stay. Checked in but spotted then spotted signs of bedbugs on the mattress, so left. Owner indicated they don't have a issue now and it was over a year ago. But wouldn't you get rid of the mattress. Also holes in walls and musty smell. I would of liked to of recommended this as a older place to stay out side of the larger chains but clearly cannot.

Place was good. Room was small but did it's job of having a place to sleep for a weekend trip. Room smelled good and clean with no cigarette smoke smell. Sheets smelled of bleach so it made us feel good that they were washed. AC was strong. Went in beginning of October but it was hot enough outside that the AC was needed. Now for the negatives. The room wasn't well cleaned. There appeared to be a disk on the floor that looked like dog kibble. It was bigger than a thumb finger nail. Not sure how that was missed. I also found a few strands of hair in the bed once I got in bed. Maybe it was from the cleaning person but I had never had that happen to me before. And finally, the TV was in a cabinet. It is on a pull out tray which at least allowed you to view from the bed but it doesn't come out far enough for both people in the bed to see. The cabinet will block the view of one person. Breakfast was not good. Food tasted weird. Don't pick this place if you're looking for a place that has breakfast included. You will end up eating somewhere else anyway.

Our 3rd trip to Chincoteague. Location, the amenities Pool, small Breakfast, owner and staff very friendly. Clean, picturesque, curb appeal. I am here right now and having a great time.

Yes some of the rooms are a bit small and outdated, but I can't help but love this place. The management/staff are friendly. It is in a great location. I usually prefer the Big Hotels, but when in Chincoteague, I prefer to stay here. It is a great place for families. You may see roosters, hens other little friendly critters running around up near the office. Along with that the landscaping is very pretty and the pool is always exceptionally clean! They have a place to grill out. Cleanliness in the bathroom tubs, especially in the room with the hot tub could be improved. If you are going to stay in the room with the hot tub, bring a bottle of bleech, lift the mat up, the rest of the tub is usually clean, but someone forgets the sand gets caught under that mat and it is funky.

For the price this place was awesome. Breakfast isn't much very simple. Awesome grill and and pool area. The pool and rooms were well maintained. Ice machine saved us from buying bags all the time. Thought I'd sacrifice comfortable for affordable but it turned out to be a great stay.

The establishment lives up to its name; for an affordable price, you can book a comfortable overnight stay in one of the most accessible locations on the island. Our room included a queen-sized bed as well as a microwave, mini fridge and air conditioning unit. The flat screen television and whirlpool tub further enhanced the experience. Some furnishings and hardware did show signs of age/wear; the outlets on either side of the bed seemed poorly mounted. Plugging in a device with a transformer proved nearly impossible. It was a frustration, but not necessarily a deal-breaker for what we paid. The staff treated us kindly, and all interactions were pleasent. For the price, the comfortable conditions and friendly service made for satisfying stay.

I visited this hotel last weekend with my fiancé. Everything was perfect. The manager was great and made us feel at home. We loved sitting outside our room and enjoying our downtime at the hotel. We will definitely stay at this hotel each time we visit Chincoteague.

Cheap, clean, decent location, nice people in the office. No complaints. It was the off season Jan 1&2. Still some local businesses open for shopping and food too.

We stayed one night on 8/10/2015. It is perfect for families. Our two children enjoyed the pool. It has two gas grills and picnic tables. It was a short walk from the Island Creamery and Steamers Restaurant. The room was very clean. We would come back again for sure!

We recently had the opportunity to spend 5 days at this Inn during the Wild Pony round-up. Our proprietor, Ramon, made our stay memorable with his recommendations and kindness. It is a great location. A continental breakfast was provided daily. We plan on making this an annual event. We give it a 5 star rating!

Been coming here for years. Very clean! Management always friendly! Anytime we needed anything — it was done quickly! thank you and I'll be back.

Have stayed here with our pets three times. Clean rooms, freshly painted. No smoke residue, nice carpet/drapes. Refrigerator, TV, A/C, 2 queen beds. Nice pool, well kept grounds, 2 gas grills, ample picnic tables. Great proprietor. Even good coffee in the office each morning. Walking distance from restaurants, downtown. Absolutely the best value for the price, unless you are snobby about luxurious accommodations.

I went with my family, last year, to see the wild horses cross. The Best Value Inn was ok. It's no Ramada, and/or not compared to the Caesar's palace, either; but, if you have a budget, and a family of 5, you won't get better for the price. There's a pool, a big nice grill outside, air conditioning, self service beverages machines and wireless internet. I wasn't too crazy about the decorations, but the TV worked just fine. The bathrooms were clean and the kitchen was pretty functional. You have everything within a few blocks of the place, and you're right on Maddox Blvd, which is the main street. As I said, budget, internet, pool, Main Street. I'd definitely go back.

We stayed three nights from 5/14/09 through 5/16/09 at Best Value Inn on Chincoteague Island, VA. The rates were very reasonable and we were well pleased with the room and service. This place is family oriented. We highly recommend this inn. The accommodations are back from the street in a quaint and private setting with natural attractions and attractive, conveniently appointed rooms. The ceiling was a lovely surprise. Bathrooms excellent but though the bath towels are adequate they could use an upgrade. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Refrigerator, microwave, and TV worked fine. There is a table and chair set in the room suitable for dining in for two, should you want to do that. Small pool and picnic area on premises. Continental breakfast available at office. Inn is within walking distance of many restaurants and in easy driving distance of beach, parks, fishing, shopping, ice cream, etc. Enjoy this place. We did.
