We have only been here just a bit but this is not what we expected… it exceeded our expectations greatly. Room is very clean, smells clean, we were given a gift bag upon check in, our lovely emotional support dog's were gifted doggy treats. The kitchen is stocked w plates, bowls, heavy silver forks spoons and knives plus pots and pans. The room has an oven and dishwasher plus microwave. It's a smaller room but that makes no difference to us, it's absolutely perfect — and we can see the ocean from here! 5+ stars. Lastly the front desk person was very nice! oh I guess we can grill outside too… and they have options for snacks as well as a lovely looking menu from a bistro. we will absolutely stay here again in the future.

Great friendly staff. The breakfast was great. But I hear it's changing due to covid🙁 bed is very comfy. Love the space in the room.

What renovation? The carpet, furniture, mattress/pillows were awful. The sofa in my room was filthy. I've been staying here for 3 yrs and will not be back. I used points this stay. 35, 000 points per night. Definitely not worth it! Also didn't get "refresh" room service the first day because I didn't ask for it. Lastly, the morning breakfast was nasty! I'll spare you the details. Pass on this place. There's nicer mid range priced rooms available on the island.

Breakfast sucked and I mean SUCKED so bad. Might as well go somewhere else and pay eat. Staff was barely ok. Room was ok. But 300 for two nights and garbage breakfast I’m good.

The staff was friendly and the pool was extra nice. I liked having a little kitchen in the room. My biggest complaint about our stay is that it was very loud and we got no sleep. It sounded like a herd of wild animals was lodging above us. They banged on the ceiling for hours to the point my room was vibrating one night. I did not want to call and complain but I did because every time we fell asleep we woke back up due to banging. I spoke to a lady who said she would give them a call unfortunately the banging never stopped. I understand the staff cannot control everything that goes on in the hotel but this was the worst sleeping experience I've ever had at a hotel. No caffeinated coffee in the room and the ac didnt get super cold. Other than that the staff was nice, bed comfortable, and very nice pool.
Oh also, when I reserved my room online I reserved a room with two queens and a sofa bed. The room had 2 queens and no sofa bed.

The facility particularly the reception/dining area was dirty. Breakfast was not so great.

Comfortable rooms with kitchens, tasty breakfasts, and a nice pool area. Ability to grill on the patio is an added plus.

I love this hotel! They were wonderful when we were forced to book somewhere last-minute. They had anything I could possibly need and then some. The staff is so friendly. The front desk has been beyond friendly and helpful with anything we need. I will stay here again and I suggest you check them out too.

The room stunk and did not the discount as I was promised to be given. When I arrived and the rooms were still not ready at 5pm.

Imagine traveling all day to your favorite vacation spot, you check into the hotel around midnight, and you just want to rest your tired body, but then you walk into a room you can’t sleep in because it hadn’t been clean and you have no sheets! So you go downstairs to get a new room, and the new room has dirty sheets on the pullout bed that your 5 year old is supposed to sleep on!

By the 3rd day you'll accept it as "it is what it is. "It's not a bad hotel. The people are friendly. It's just an old hotel and needs A LOT of updates. The hotel bar is at the Marriott next door to the TownePlace. I advise to find another bar because the drinks at the hotel (I had a margarita) are very small and $9.50, and not good.

We stayed here in Oct 2018 and will be back in the very near future. Great location. Clean and comfortable. Great staff and friendly service.

Arrived over night. Was greeted warmly by the staff. The room was clean and we could see the gulf from our hotel room. The pool shared by the courtyard marriott was great but some of the furniture had bird droppings on them. Overall a great stay, the location is amazing, a short walk to the beach.

Front desk was more than friendly and hotel was up to date and had incredible views. Perfect for a family or single, overnight or an extended stay. This hotel is great and will be back!

Breakfast was decent but that's about it. Initial room assigned was not clean… dirty carpet and curtains. It also smelled dank and musty. Reassigned room was better but on several occasions I bed was not changed, trash was not emptied, carpet not vacummed (they laughed after I requested) and tub was never cleaned during our stay. I had to change my own bed twice. On one occasion my "clean" sheets were full of hair. Plus they refused to empty trash and let it pile up so bad I had to sit the can outside our room. (I have photos) Even though it is in a good location I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The service and my experience were horrible.

Not worth the price we paid. Pool was nice, 4pm check in was a joke because no ones rooms were ready so the lobby was full of cranky people just wanting their room. It even gives you the button option to check in early when you book on their website, but actually they won’t check anyone in early. Paid $389 for less than a 20hr stay there. Rooms were nice, staff — meh. All in all, not worth it.

We arrived 2 hours before the 4 pm check in. The clerk told us she would have our suite cleaned and it would be ready shortly. We traveled 1800 miles to visit family. 4 of the members under 3. Despite the clerk calling housekeeping several times before her shift change, the room was still not ready 2 1/2 hours later, 30 minutes after the 4 pm check in. We are now late for a reservation. And the young members are tired and very cranky. The on duty manager was not helpful. A call to Marriots main office ended after a 30 minute hold with a disconnect. When we returned after our reservation, now 930 pm, we we greeted by Brittany. She was very helpful, professional, and most of all, customer friendly. I appreciate her. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast staff was unbelievably attentive to keeping items in stock and clean. If we would have been told that the room would not be ready until after 4, I would have rated this hotel higher. If I would have had a better experience with management… or had something resolved by corporate… I could have rated higher. First impressions killed the experience for us. And it took 3 hours away from the reason we came in the 1st place.

Room was clean and comfortable. Only hiccup was at check in. We arrived at 2. The clerk told us that the room needed to be cleaned but we could check in shortly. Though she really tried. 2 1/2 hours later (30 minutes after the 4 ok check in time) we were still unable to check in. There is a lot more to the story. I will spare you. I would also like to thank Brittany. Who did a great job to ease the initial bad experience.

Very nice place. Our room had a small kitchen which was unexpected. The free breakfast was really good. Very clean and great price for being so close to the ocean. Loved it.

Old hotel, dirty smell bad. Please don't stay at this hotel. If you see pictures you think is nice and you get there and is ugly. We reserve the two bedroom suite. And we get the room until 5:30 pm. So what's the point to have a reservation if the walk ins get better service and better rooms. Very disappointed.

A clean, efficient hotel with a wonderful pool! It is a little gem among high rise hotels. Great for kids and pets. Love the pool area. Bar with wait staff to serve you at the pool. I loved staying there.

Nice looking hotel. I just visited the room. The room was a little compact but the views were great. I didn't get to partake in the pool but it looked great. One downside is that although beachfront you have to cross a busy throughway to get to the beach.

Fairly good location, helpful staff, clean and good facilities.

This is a great little hotel walking distance to the beach. This hotel is behind the other Marriott building so you're not beachfront but it's clean, updated, and comes with a kitchenette. Be aware that the stretch of seawall in front of the hotel leads to a rocky beach, but a five minute stroll east gets you to sandy beach.

Wonderful stay! The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable but not stay in bed all day comfortable. The grounds are well kept, the staff was great, and the location is perfect if you want to be away from the crowds. Breakfast was decent. There were fried eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, and more. Great value for the money!

Beautiful location on the beach, hotel is immaculate. Amenities are great, lots of shops and restaurant options just down the road. Fantastic.

Our stay was awesome. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The suite was perfect for a family getaway and still gave us our individual space. Definitely will be back on our next trip to the island.

In general it was nice but when it came to what matters most they failed to deliver. I was unable to sleep because the AC unit in my room was horrifically loud. The noise it was producing was traumatic. I could not sleep at all once it started. It was as if the baby wouldn't stop crying all night! The manager was nice enough to credit our account with some points but what does some points, that don't even add up to a free night, compared to a good night's rest…

Really good place to spend the night. I love the fact that it’s one of the few places in town were I can bring my puppy with me. There’s a little dog park in the back but the access is a little weird and the disposal wasn’t stocked. The room was a little smaller than usual for the price but I guess that’s because it’s Galveston. Other than that, it was clean, had everything you needed for an extended stay. Room was well lit, had a mid size fridge, two burner electric stovetop, dishwasher, sink, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, food storage, pots and pans, EVERYTHING! :) There’s plenty of storage for your belongings accompanying you on your trip. A desk for you to work on and Wi-Fi included. The TV isn’t too big but it’s okay. The air conditioner worked perfectly and I couldn’t hear my neighbors or anything coming from the hallway which is nice. Breakfast was really good. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. The options included were like most other hotels: waffle marker, eggs, protein, hard boiled eggs, cereal options, yogurt options, juice options, bread and bagels, plus biscuits n gravy, and some fixings for everything mentioned. Will definitely be staying there again so I can bring my dog with me! :)

No complaints! Well… We did find a bug In our luggage after a long day at the beach, but it was south Texas in the summer, I don't blame the hotel, everything was very clean and one of the best pools I've ever swam In, with a bar out there by the pool too! Score!

We arrived around 1pm to see if they could hold our luggage while we went over to see some Galveston sights, and they had both rooms for our party ready when we got there, which was perfect because check in isn't until 4pm. The rooms were clean and modern. Unlike many hotels these days, the bathrooms have ACTUAL DOORS instead of all the see-through sliding doors without a lock. Anyway, the pool is heated which is nice in the winter, but it's shared with the adjacent Marriott Courtyard. Unfortunately, there's no hot tub. There's laundry services (coin-operated) and a fitness room. There's a breakfast included in the cost of the room. It's a really REALLY tiny serving area, but if you look close enough, all of the fixins in any Marriott breakfast are all accounted for, it's just very crowded. Also, there's just one Texas-shaped waffle machine, and the line can back up a bit, so maybe wake up a little early otherwise it gets extremely crowded. All-in-all, it's a fairly nice extended-stay hotel for the price. The proximity to the beach is also really handy, just be careful crossing Seawall Blvd.

Called the hotel right before disembarking the Carnival Valor in Galveston and was assured by the desk that rooms would be available as soon as 12 PM, so my fiance and I were very excited when we arrived at the hotel by taxi at 11 AM, only to be told that the soonest we could be given a room was by 2 PM, after the inspector was finished. We fought sleep in the lobby while the staff chatted about various things. The reason given for our wait was that Marriott rewards members are able to take advantage of late check-out and so would we. We advised that my fiance was a Marriott rewards member as well and we were driving out to Houston at 2 AM, but it made no difference. When I said we would just address the seeming lack of care in the review, we got called up to the desk 5 minutes later and to the room by 125 PM. It smells of cigarette smoke, but otherwise nice. I don't recommend this stay for anyone coming off the ships. I did, however, appreciate that they allowed us to place our suitcases in a room behind the desk while we waited, and gave us local food recommendations.

The room were nice, but rather small. However, for whatever reason the staff didn't place a family friend next to our rooms like we requested. Though it was nice of them to apologize and give sweet treats to the kids for free.

Gabriel and the young lady working late shift are both amazing people! Always friendly and accommodating! I will definitely come back!

This place was super nice and helpful. We checked in in the afternoon from Austin because my daughter had a medical school interview at UTMB and went to explore the island. At that time, she found out her interview was cancelled because Hurricane Harvey was hitting the area the next day. Gabriel, the manager, gave us back the reward points we had used to book the room because we decided to leave. My daughter also left her newly bought suit in the closet because we left in a hurry. Gabriel took care of us again by having the suit shipped to us at no cost. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Galveston!

Pro: nice size room, comfortable beds, free breakfast, beach view, full kitchen, two full bath, wonderful staff. Cons: breakfast is limited, pool is overcrowded, cable issues, hot water issues, no poop bags for dogs, no sand across at the beach only rocks, infestation of mosquitoes. This is my experience due to being rehomed here because my home flooded. There are several other people here because of the Harvey flood as well. I was told by staff the cable suffered some damage by the storm and is quickly being worked on. I'm going to blame the no hot water on so many people being stuck in these rooms. The mosquitoes are so bad you can barely take your pups out to use it. They have a bag station but it never has bags.

Rooms are getting dated. Limited kitchen cookware in rooms. Dishwasher does not work in our room. Washing machines do not work well. Rooms are small but comfortable.

We were confirmed for 2 rooms, 2 nights, with our children, late arrival. While at the departing airport, at 7:00 P. M. I received a phone call from the hotel stating that the hotel was overbooked and 1 of our rooms was not available. We were redirected to a Best Western down the street. I let them know we had children and could not accept rooms at separate hotels. We were moved to the Best Western regardless. Our arrival time at the Best Western was at 4:00 a. M. As expected due to flight and ground transportation. Since check out time was 11:00 a. M. We were only able to rest for a few hours. We had scheduled the 2 nights to allow us to catch up on our sleep so that we could explore Galveston before our cruise. This did not happen due to this error by the hotel. Traveling with 5 family members and 12 pieces of luggage this was an extreme burden having to make this transition from 1 hotel to another. I called to ask if Marriott would assist with transportation and was told no. We were very disappointed to start our vacation in this manner. I don’t understand how something like this could happen since we had booked so far in advance.

Awesome Place, good rooms the front counter guy Nick took excellent care of me it was my birthday and I just come off of a long job and I stay two to three hundred nights a year in Marriott properties. Well-maintained, well-run, great pool, easy access for Seawall Boulevard, good well prepared breakfast, overall I can't find a thing at all to complain about.

Staff was really friendly and helpful. Nice location away from heavy traffic areas. The only thing that we didn't like was the pool. It was a real nice pool with waterfall and shelves to sit on all around the pool. It shares the pool with the Marriott Courtyard in front of it. The three nights we were there we couldn't go out and swim because so many people were out there. Couldn't really enjoy that amenity.

Staff is friendly. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. There was a couple maintenance issues with the room. Restroom door did not close properly. The lights would flicker on and off randomly. For the price the room is pretty small. Not a whole lot of walking room. Overall it was an ok stay. The best part of the room was a double sided closet with Restroom and hallway access.

2 beds, with a mini kitchen with pots and pans, continental breakfast every morning and big pool that is available every day. I loved it.

I love the kitchenettes in the suites for long stays, the pool with its bar is great, and the staff is super friendly, but there's not much in walking distance from the hotel, and their gym is in a tiny room with very little air circulation and they keep it far too warm in there for a workout space, particularly one so small.

Great place with modern looking furniture and appliances. Love the auto lights in the closet. Adorable suite rooms. Only thing that bothers me is that I wish the pool would stay open later. So many kids and they do not go to bed before the pool closes!

Nice rooms and good breakfast every day. Even though you have to share the pool with another hotel the pool is very nice.

Compliments: Professional, friendly staff, awesome pool & bar with cabanas, yummy breakfast, less than 5 minutes from Moody Gardens, & directly across the beach! Mother/daughter vacay was a success! Complaints: dirty bathroom mirrors (toothpaste all over them), didn't get into my room until almost 5 (was told it was because of people doing late check outs) & no compensation for that, waited an hr at the pool for towels after being told they were coming.

This hotel is located toward the west end of the island. It is fairly new and is kept very clean. The room was exactly as described and anticipated. The hotel staff were very courteous and explained the hotel's amenities thoroughly but succinctly. Parking was a bit tight given that the hotel was fully booked, but there were sufficient parking spaces available. This hotel is located directly behind another Marriott property, but they have signage to help you find the lobby for the Towne Place Suites. Overall, it was a very nice hotel and sits directly across the street from the Gulf of Mexico.

Wanted to give a big shout out! I had a "issue" that was partially my error yet the manager Andrew made right on the situation. It's not everyday you can stay somewhere and they are HONEST! Thanks for a great experience.

Spent two nights here. One was my honeymoon night. Directly across from the water in Galveston. Totally loved our suite. Our room was huge. The kitchen area was nice. Large fridge. Dishwasher. Stove top with two burners. Set of real dishes. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The pool area was amazing. Great waterfall in the pool. Huge sectional couch. After swimming I was so relaxed I took a nap for an hour and a half. The staff were great. Also there is a shuttle service, for a small fee, to take you to the pier to get on your cruise ship. All in all a great experience. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed 6 days for dance covention and the staff and service was GREAT! Read earlier reviews regarding breakfast and will just stay its not Embassy but your not PAYING Embassy prices.

We stayed 4 days in June 2015, if you like no housekeeping services, you'll love this. We had clean towels twice, no trash emptied, no second roll of toliet tissue. No beds made up, Breakfast was something else, 6:30 a. M. Until 9:00 a. M. But if your not there early, early forget it. I got there anywhere from 7 until 8 and never had any luck, no coffee, no juice, waffle mix was either gone or you had to drain it, no fruit, muffins almost gone, lucky you if you got one. Tried to talk with the people at the front desk, and customer service is'nt their strong suit. Let's talk about swimming pool, sign says opens at 10:00 a. M, but maintenance was there every a. M. Still cleaning up, if you can call wood chips and bugs in the water clean. No pool towels, even when they open, let alone later in the day. The pool bar opens at 12 noon, but closes at around 5:00p. M. Sorry if this isn't correctly worded, but I'm home now and really tired. Suggest Red Roof Inn down the street.

No a. C. And didnt get the points promised, bed is hard and no hot water odd cus it was off season so it wasnt busy. But rhe full mini kitchen was nice for a weeks stay. Not a great btrakfast either and no water front view its behind another hotel.
