Moody gardens its at a great spot, the pyramids are fun, lots or gardens very beautiful but this hotel is looking old, the furniture, carpet and pretty much everything looks outdated, for the price you are paying they should really keep up, there was a bad drainage smell by parking lot too and their water park is very small it was great for our toddler but our teenage daughters got bored fast. I don't think the price is worth for the rooms. Pool was cool.

We had a great experience. The entire staff is amazing. The young woman at the swim up bar was the sweetest. She was super busy and alone and still kept a smile. She Thanked us for being so patient. The Rainforest is the best!

My family and I visited recently and my youngest daughter accidentally left her favorite sleeping toy! She cried the first night without it. I got in contact with hotel security and they worked so hard to get my daughter’s favorite sleeping buddy back to us! I can’t thank them enough for caring so much about what means so much to my baby! Great job hotel housekeeping for getting it to security and security for being all around awesome! ❤️

Overpriced and nothing in the hotel is open as far as the restaurants, salon, spa, store, pizza spot. It says “microwave” but there is ONE and it’s on floor 2 & only working ice machine is on floor 5. The cafe is open if u want a $18 plain hamburger and drinks?! Geesh The room still had a pair of dirty socks and face mask from the previous guests….

My daughter was married there. It was a beautiful venue and the staff did their job well. It was very clean and pretty. We had no complaints at all.

Room is spotless, grounds are beautifully kept, Customer service is excellent. Would highly recommend.

What can I say besides TERRIBLE! Here for a cheer competition and the whole floor smells like marijuana. For a “family friendly” place, not acceptable. I am deathly allergic to marijuana and the only solution was for them to check us out and not refund as there is no way for them to do it since it is a room black. Gina, who calls herself the assistant front office manager exact words to us was, “well I can just check you out” and make us find a new place to stay at 11:45pm. Zero compassion or care about the guests. We met numerous other families who agreed the smell was terrible. We spoke with security who was nice but again said there was nothing that he could do. Save your money and go somewhere that is actually worth the price tag. This run down, dirty hotel is not the place to stay.

The nicest and cleanest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Beautiful environment and all of the staff members were friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure our stay was an enjoyable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent stay! Great food and drinks at the bar! Easy access to parking, convention part, restrooms and elevators! Only drawback was: Too cold at times.

Most staff members, except for The Cafe in the Park Manger, I have encountered has shown the least concern about my stay. It’s like my and I family are a bother or distraction. Won’t be back. First class venue with lack lust service.

Great family oriented property. Lovely rooms. Lots to do. Need to keep things open during the week and off season. Closed restaurants really detract from the experience. Also need to keep Palm Beach open more of the year. It’s still hot outside, but it closed yesterday.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. The room plus "fees" was right under a grand.
The room was OK, super odd it didn't have a microwave and the T. V. Was very small in comparison to the room. Hair was found in one of our towels that was not ours and in the shower mat.
We had a 2 queen bed with a Island view. The view was horrible and one of the beds was so uncomfortable! Creaked loudly anytime you got up or moved and you could feel the springs.
For the amount of money they charge you get very little quality for that price point.
What you do get is the convenience of having all the attractions around you. The Cafe in the Park has great breakfast and service during the morning. Lunch and Dinner is over priced for the quality.
Non of the surrounding attractions are included in your stay so be prepared for that. Luckily we knew that a head out time.
The operators when you call from your room could be nicer.
The Pool area was ok, cigarette buds, and stained chairs on the floor, we were there in the late afternoon so I guess no one cleans during the day.
My kids had an amazing time and that's what made it worth it.

If your are planning a trip to this resort you should know that it is old. They are completely under staffed. They do not answer the phone. The management does not follow up on problems, they leave it for staff to deal with and do not call when they have told you they would.
I checked out on Monday morning and it is now Thursday no one has called me to to complete the issues I had while there for a four day convention. In that time I had to change rooms twice because of old air conditioners that were so dirty that it blew dirt everywhere and the sink didn’t drain and the shower tap would not shut off.
The walls are so thin that my neighbors alarm woke me up every morning and their normal conversation til 1am kept me up.
There is no real advantage for staying in the hotel and going to their attractions they are all over priced. There is no housekeeping in the rooms due to covid so they bring you towels to your room but they never answer the phone to request them. Never any pool towels at the pool. Knowing there was a convention they had no staff to handle all 400 rooms full.
Honestly I have been patient to allow them to fix and compensate me what I was told I would receive but I have called everyday since I left two and three times and nothing. So it is time to leave reviews and comments. Which I was clear they would receive if not contacted by management who I waited for emails from the entire time I was in the hotel.

Only amenity offered was free Wi-Fi. It has Spa in the name, yeah it was closed. Asked for room service, was told maybe next month. After checking in, I left after an hour. Why spend $200.00 a night for nothing. So my relaxing vacation was anything but relaxing. Sorry, Sorry, Sorry. I don't know if they need new management or management period. Might as well stay under a bridge, offer the same thing and at least the rate as decent.

My wife “pregnant wife” and I booked a two night stay here at moody gardens. When we first got to our floor the whole floor smelled like fresh lacquer. Men in body suits and respirators roaming the floor. Instantly go down stairs and ask for a new room. We get a new room seems good. Take a shower the drain does not open so shower backs up. Wake up next morning still full of water. We instantly cancel our next stay and leave. Was a ghost town no one was there and hotel with a view was not a view of anything but their parking lot. Save money and stay somewhere else.

Great service. Lots to do there. We were upgraded to a balcony room, which was very affordable, spacious, lovely private balcony, beautiful pool. It was quiet. Room service was relatively affordable. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean, if a bit aged.

Excellent family friendly hotel with well designed ergonomics. The AC control is weird and front desk couldn't explain it either. It's an analog dial you keep turning and eventually it'll be too cold or too hot (actual heat will start blowing). If they have a proper thermostat woth numbers and actually correspond to set temp I'd give it 5 stars.

Beautiful place. Very nice hotel, inside and out. Ate food and had a few drinks at the bar. Staff was SUPER friendly and attentive. Service was quick. Food came quick. Food went quick. It was delicious. Calamari was melt-in-your-mouth perfect and don't miss out on the crab cakes. Would definitely recommend this location for quality and aesthetics.

We just left the Moody gardens hotel, My family and I had the Best time here we are so happy we choose this hotel. They have something fun for kids all day and every day the pools are nice with a bar and so many attractions you cant do them all. We will definitely be coming back to do the things we couldn't do. Love it its a must place to be here…

Went for a work association conference. The amenities were great. Parking was close. Event was well marked and easy to find. The AV equipment functioned as designed and without incident. Wait staff was courteous and professional. Great venue for an event.

From great food and amenities to family fun and entertainment. Pools and beaches to the pyramid's bird park and ocean life. Something for the whole family to do. And best liquor assortment and drinks for you adults vacationing. And water park next door. A great vacation place on the Island. Have fun.

Very comfortable stay! The staff is readily available and courteous. All areas were clean. Housekeeping came to the rooms twice each day, which was very convenient, as my family likes to sleep late. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. There is plenty for families to do on site, and it's a short drive to other Galveston attractions. Will visit again.

Had an amazing experience with our family celebrating Christmas at Moody Gardens. We had tons of things to do and the hotel was really wonderful. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the extra activities for the kiddos took it over the top! We went back during Spring break and even bought season tickets to return during the summer and on weekends, for both family trips and a romantic getaway with the hubby! The kids couldn't wait to come back! And I especially enjoyed the spa experience! The hydrotherapy bath was out of this world and helped me tremendously along with a fantastic massage by Amy! This place has so much to offer and my family and I highly recommend it!

We had a fantastic weekend at the Moody Gardens Hotel. The staff is very friendly, the spa is great, we loved the pool. Lots of fun things to do both for adults and kids, the hotel is very family-friendly. The breakfast buffet is awesome, lots of options and all delicious.

The hotel has a wonderful restaurant, that is why it I am giving it 3 stars. The hotel room when we walked in was not vacuumed (cheerios and starbursts found by cleaning service), there were no trash bags in any of the garbage cans, and the bathtub had paint coming up from the bottom with rust marks. The price was discounted for the graduation but we did not deserve to have the lower level room. Informed hotel staff on check out and there was no real care about it. Wrote my complaint on a scratch piece of paper to put in later (doubt it happened). We stayed at the Best Western Plus the night before and I highly recommend doing that and brave the traffic, you will save over $100 and have better amenities.

I booked a couple's package for the weekend. Let me start by saying this is the first hotel I have ever been to where they don't treat you like crap because you choose to not valet park… even though we had one night free. Second the check in process was so easy and the staff was so nice even though they were very busy. We arrived to our room to find the cheese crackers and fruit tray waiting on us it was great! Next morning we ate downstairs where they had a buffet breakfast which normally I am not too keen on but wow they had tons of choices for us picky eaters… even an omelet bar. Our package included two day passes to all of Moody Gardens at our pleasure… even an hour long boat ride. Came back in the evening to a very clean room… and my fruit basket with wine was waiting… wished it would have been put on ice but we took care of it while we stepped out to dinner. We did go to the bar and I have to agree they all act mad to work there and don't smile at all or ask if you want anything else… we would have spent more time and money there but I couldn't deal with attitude. The pool was very clean and warm. I loved the hot tub after a long day of walking. The gift shop is very small and doesn't have much of anything but it works. We walked upstairs to the spot to check out what they sell… the lady there was very nice and we didn't even buy anything. Overall I loved my stay here. I wish the water in the room was complimentary $5 was too much for me.

My husband and I had the best long weekend here. Everything was so clean and kept up. The staff was more than accommodating and friendly. The grounds were beautiful. Breakfast down stairs was so good and dinner upstairs was amazing. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! ❤️

I don't want to get any Moody Garden superfans angry but I thought the aquarium could have had just a few more exhibits. It was fun though. I really liked the midnight jellies exhibit. We were mesmerized by the way they aimlessly floated in and lit up the water. It was serene. However, it was "feeding time" when we were there and they hadn't finished their food so we couldn't touch them.

Absolutely beautiful resort. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I've been to and there is so much to do.

Moody Gardens is a beautiful complex. We spent the day at the convention center for a graduation. It was a great location for the event. There were beautiful gardens for picture taking and convenient restaurants for those celebrating. The parking garage was conveniently located.

We ate at the garden cafe and had a very nice dinner. The food was tasty. I ordered a not of a special order and it came out incorrect, but the waiter asked me before he even left the table if I would prefer to have it remade. When they brought it back, it was perfect. I recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner!

The guest service team has been very helpful here, as well the staff as a whole are very professional. Shout out to Kelly who helped me with my late night check-in. Very knowledgeable about the Galveston area plus recommended the breakfast buffet at the Cafe downstairs. The breakfast buffet is loaded with options and the service was top notch. Thanks.

This is a great resort for the family with kids. That us what they cater to. We were just looking for a relaxing spa getaway that wasn't to far for us to drive. I recommend that when you make reservations that you have the person taking your info repeat back everything to you so you get all you asked for. Also, double check your confirmation email and make sure everything is there. When we checked in, prices were different and from when we booked them and they didn't have all I ordered. Lesson learned. When you pay what your paying at this resort, you would think a luxurious room would be just that, this room was just like any other hotel room. When booking the spa, they add 20% gratuity to each service not the total bill. Double check your receipt to make sure there was no miscalculations. Now, the girls performing the services are outstanding. You get your money's worth. The poolside bar was where we stopped after hitting all the attractions and it just seemed like all the bartenders were always in a bad mood. They never smiled or talked to you except to take your drink order except for one. I can't remember his name but he was from Russia and another one named Oscar. They were good. All in all, we came and got what we wanted. A relaxing trip. I could go on about each activity and service but this review would then be a novel.

Rooms and facilities are decent. Good location. Lots of attractions for families and kids that are great. Food options are pretty mediocre but lots of options off site.

Lovely vacation there. Pool is nice. Service is what I would expect. There is valet parking available or a garage to park in. The offer military discount also. Lots of activities to do right on site. Some are free. Walmart is around five minutes away. Lots of stores right up the road to include but not limited to Dollar Tree, Starbucks, and a drug store. You are about 5-7 mins away from the beach area.

Enjoy staying at this hotel. Nice amenities. Great for family trips. Love that you can get an overnight package with 2 day tickets for most of the attractions for 4 people.

I was a little agitated when I was told that there were no rooms with a balcony available upon check in, even though we checked in nearly two hours early for our two day stay and I specifically stated during booking that this was my only must have. I booked over a week in advance through their reservation line as directed and purchased a family package for over $550. Outdoor pool was closed most of the time due to weather, as well as the included ropes course and paddle boat. Never did find the ice skating which was the only thing my kids were excited about, and couldn't locate the jelly fish exhibit either. The few activities that were included and not closed were over packed and way over rated. Aquarium was definitely the best part, except the over abundance of dizzy kids everywhere. Hotel restaurant was medocre at best and for the price ($100 for 4 people) I would not expect the mashed potatoes to lack basic ingredients like, milk, butter, and salt. I was super agitated when we were awoken at 12:30 am by the fire alarm, my kids were terrified. After sitting in the lobby for about 30 — 40 minutes (packed with families) we were told it was a false alarm and to return to our rooms. Upon check out we stated our grievances and were offered only an insincere apology. I am disappointed because my only other visit here (a one night stay with my sisters in October) was not nearly as bad; although, we didn't do much at the hotel but sleep.

The room itself wasn't terrible, but I do have some complaints. We were there for the Santa Hustle half marathon, which the hotel was the host hotel for. Neither the restaurant, nor the coffee shop opened early enough for us to get breakfast before we ran and there are no microwaves in the rooms for us to warm something up. Had to go down into the parking garage and find the guest laundry room for a single microwave. Seems like you would try to make some better accommodations when you probably have 100s of additional guests because of the race. My mother in law was planning to take a bath before going to bed but gave up after half an hour of trying to get hot water. We didn't have issues with the hot water with three of us showering after the race though. Navigation in the hotel is pretty awful and confusing. In order to get to our room, we had to go up to the second floor above the lobby, then down a hallway to another set of elevators, which would take us up to the floor our room was on. Their signage explaining this wasn't great and the information they give you at check in kind of goes in one ear and out the other until you really see what they are talking about. We also got lost trying to find the guest laundry (for the microwave) and accidentally ended up in some sort of storage room that I'm pretty sure our key card shouldn't have opened, but it did. We didn't use the pools, but they looked really nice.

Pros: Excellent staff. Pleasant & helpful. Ordered room service this morning, & it was wonderful & reasonably priced for room service. Comfortable beds, & the room was spacious & quiet. Loved the big, heated outdoor pool. Conveniently close to Moody Gardens. Cons: Shower pressure not great. Would have liked a 8 x 11 map of the hotel when we checked in. The indoor lap pool was closed with no explanation. The cafe was mediocre, & the other restaurant was closed. Wouldn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel again.

Arrived at Moody Gardens Saturday night for the Santa Hustle Sunday morning. The heat in the room didn't work, nor did we have any hot water. It's now 2:30 am and we are waiting for the technicians to come see what's going on. They were unable to come when we noticed the problems at 10 am because there was an incident at Ice Land (we were told this by front desk). The young lady at the front desk, Kelli, tried all she could but there's only so much she can do. We'll speak to the general manager, David, tomorrow morning after the run. This is our first and our last visit to Moody Gardens. For the price we're paying, we should have access to basic items like hot water and heat in the middle of winter. Horrible experience except for the Kelli. She sent up some hot tea just now. Still waiting for the technicians.

Well-managed, clean, and great staff. Restaurants are all fantastic, and the nature exhibits in the pyramids are walking distance and with the time. Best banana daiquiri I have EVER had… get one at the poolside bar.

Always a good experience here with my family. Staff friendly and helpful. Room beds are very good and clean. I just wish palm beach and other attractions would stay open for a longer time especially since Texas weather allows for that. It's a bummer to see all those beautiful attractions closed when its still 90 degrees outside even in October.

Last minute booking for a beach weekend. Loved the room and the room service. Great food, plus the breakfast buffet is top notch. Welcoming staff. Would definitely stay here again.

Overpriced for the accommodations. Rooms are small and nothing special. Front staff is rude and overcharges you for your room without explaining the charges. Parking is too far from the rooms. Had to walk past 67 rooms before we could get to ours. Was promised breakfast vouchers would be slid under the door. They were never delivered, called front desk only to be told they do not have a manager on duty for at least another hour. Our stay ruined our fun birthday weekend. Do not recommend, just stay at the San Luis Resort.

My wife and I ate at Shearn's, on the top floor. The dress code and lack of music set a quiet and formal atmosphere for an exquisite dinner. We had the 12oz sirloin special which came prepared exactly as we requested, and was very tender. The staff was very professional and unobtrusive. We didn't think we had to wait long for the steaks, but they felt we did and gave us our dessert on the house. Total time from ordering to clearing the table was about an hour and a half, and we're slow eaters. Since it was my wife's birthday, we sat and enjoyed the view while talking and they allowed us to stay as long as we pleased.

I had a great time at this place being my family full and first vacation. All of the people at this place was nice. Place was expensive but worth it my kids had a great time. The only bad thing I had to say is the Elevators. Our of 4 of them 2 only work. That was a problem considering how many people was in the hotel. I stay from Friday thru Monday and they did not fix them hopefully when we come back that situation will be fix. Good people tho. Room Service was better then eating at any fast food chain in the area. Family had a wonderful time.

Lots of hype, not a lot of value. It is set as a high quality hotel and gives off that certain appeal, but the true colors show to the contrary. This hotel is not strong on the details which almost always make the stay worth it or not. There were a myriad of issues while we stayed… where do I begin… we booked from a third party and was promised a lot of things that we did not get, I realize this is not Moody Gardens responsibility, but they really need to monitor that better. The lobby and surrounding area is nice and the bar was convenient, but the rooms are lacking in general in size and amenities. You pay top dollar to stay here and you do not get top dollar experiences. We saw a roach in our room, the beds are not very comfortable, the details such as the toilet paper was cheap, I mean for what we pay couldn't you have bought the premium stuff? You do not get a warm inviting feeling from the staff, probably because the owners are capitalists and do not pay their employees what they are worth… I could see that. I could go on for much longer, but suffice to say this hotel is worth about half what is charged, not a value, not worth the convenience of being close to the gardens trust me.

Hotel was nice. The first room we stayed in was dirty… so they changes rooms for us. It's an average room… some areas they need to clean better like under the sink. My family had a lot of fun and the pool is nice. Tons of activities for kids. I will come back.

We loved our stay here! Plenty of free lighted parking. Beautiful views. Large rooms, nicely decorated, great staff. Love the coffee shop on site, plenty of dining options, but close to main strip where I can grab a bite of fresh seafood too! Swimming pool was overly warm, but gorgeous. We lucked out as it wasn't crowded during our stay and hotel was empty, but I imagine it can be less tranquil than our experience! We skipped the theme park activities (over priced) and the aquarium was still closed, but it's a short easy commute to NASA from hotel, and the waterfront is so close! This was the perfect hotel for our vacation!

This is the ONLY place we will stay with the kids! Easy, fun and entertaining for them and everything is right at the Moody Gardens compound. Schlitterbahn is across the street though we haven't gone there yet because Moody Garden's Palm Beach is perfect for our youngsters so far! Worth the money!

He hotel this very clean but the ladies of the reception are super rude or you look to the face cdo you speak I was there this weekend and not think return never more. Definitely the best of the hotel is the buffet restaurant.

We went to Moody Gardens for a family vacation. It was one of the best family friendly places we have been. They had daily activities for the kids all throughout the day, and the hotel came with passes to Palm Beach! We also purchased day passes to the moody gardens pyramid. One of the best advantages was everything was within walking distance. There was no reason for us to leave the resort. But of course Galveston has a lot to offer and we could have left very easily.

Was great relaxing funfun. The food/drinks where really expensive tho.

Spent the 4th of July weekend there, and my family and I enjoyed it. It is probably better if you have children, as there are plenty of activities to keep them entertained. Between Palm Beach, the zip line, the pyramids, or the pool, no one should be bored. I would recommend going elsewhere for food though, as what is available is over priced and sub par.

My wife, son and I met my in-laws for dinner in the restaurant on the first floor. It's not obvious how to get a baby stroller to the first floor from the parkinglot: walk into the parking garage using the vehicle only entrance, then proceed to the elevators. Once up to the first floor, the restaurant is nicely laid out and spacious. The food is great; I had the smoked brisket sandwich which looks small but I wouldn't want it any bigger. Outside the restaurant, there's a large lobby with a fish pool that my son loved to watch. Overall, a great experience.

Great room. Excellent service. Excellent options close by for all ages. And very close to Galveston's sites. Schlitterbaun is across the street.

Staying for conference and enjoying it so far. I have found issues with my room hat I would be much more upset about if I was paying for my stay. I have stayed in the past and experience has always been good.

The hotel meet most of my expectations and exceeded few. However that should not take away from this hotel and especially the staff as they are very friendly. Family really enjoyed the pool and is large enough to feel very spacious even though it was busy. Only negative was a billing issue while checking in but it was taken care of and corrected.

Poor. Didnt even book a room. The reps sounded like they could barely speak english. Difficult to understand and when I did get someone who was fluent. She had an attitude and couldnt answer any questions. Ashley I think her name was. The website is confusing and gives hardly ANY information on their "packages" so you dont really know what you are gonna get until you unfortunately arrive. Website is complicated poorly designed and lacks the basic information to secure some money from my wallet. Will never try here again.

Me and my girlfriend went for Valentine's day and had a great time. Great hot-tub, warm pool, and some nice sized rooms. The cafe was really good as well, their breakfast buffet is surprisingly varied. All in all we had a great experience and can't wait to come back.

Clean rooms. Housekeeping could use some improvement. Made our bed but never finished the bed completely and just left extra sheets in our room for some reason. Loved the hotel overall. Great restaurants.

Was a good stay. There were a couple of small problems: dirty towels in my room and a safe that did not work. The people that work there and fixed these issue are great.

The room and food were good. The y did a great job hosting our event. The cable TV was in and out and there was no hot water for 2 days.

Expensive! Great staff but they better be for this price. The grounds are vast and beautiful. The rooms were nice and large but were only a slight improvement from that of a holiday inn. There is an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and a hot tub. As well as a gym and spa. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant in the lobby was very good. While kids eat free the price was still slightly more than we would have paid to eat at a restaurant off site. If you are looking for luxury in Galveston look no further. Be sure to visit the restaurant on the ninth floor for a cocktail.

Overall the hotel is nice with a lot of amenities for those that enjoy that. The coffee shop is nice as well. One of the benefits is the steakhouse on the 9th floor that we reviewed as well… great spot. We checked into the hotel, only issue was the Wi-Fi in our room. For some reason the Wi-Fi didn't work at all in the room but when we stepped outside the room into the hallway it worked fine. I called to the desk about it twice, said they were sending someone up to look at the problem but no one ever came. I don't want to seem like I'm bickering about something as minor as Wi-Fi but for the cost of this hotel you would expect prompt replies to your requests to look into the issue at the least. I was told after bringing it up at checkout that there were no notes of my problem at all by the front desk clerk. That's just how it goes I guess sometimes. Nice hotel and great location to the beach and moody gardens.

We were there for the Lonestar Rally and stayed here and really enjoyed our time! Reading other reviews stating that its more geared for "kids" is not true! At least not the weekend we were there! Hanging out at the hotel bar was nice and relaxing as well… the only downside we experienced was the sudden power outage but that was resolved as quickly as possible. Overall a great hotel, we always book our room here when we're in Galveston! Staff was very professional and knowledgeable too! Thank you all!

For a hotel that charge so much for rooms, it's a shame it doesn't provide free complimentary breakfast and the rooms are okay if you just want to get some sleep. The hotel is geared more towards children and the parents pocket book. For the amount of money I paid I could have stayed at a cheaper hotel, received free breakfast and had some money left over for lunch and dinner.

Place was underwhelming. Not worth the price at all. More of a place for little kids but definitely not teenagers or adults. The price of the room should include the attractions but it doesn't and even the attractions were sub par. Won't be coming back here.

I had my in-laws visiting from overseas, so booked 2 joining rooms for a one night stay on Jan 2, 2015. The good: friendly front desk staff who helped with an earlier check-in and also on purchase of tickets for near-by attractions in Moody Gardens. The bad: the room appeared to be comfortable, but our rooms had various issues. a) toilet did not flush (called maintenance staff and they fixed it quickly) b) TV did not show all of the listed channels (called the maintenance team yet again and they had to re-set the receiver to fix the issue) c) after coming back to the hotel around 9pm drenched in rain, sent the kids in first to take a shower, but then noticed the water in the tub was not draining well. I did not end up calling maintenance team for the 3rd time as we were tired and wet from rain. But it wasn't a great feeling taking a shower whilst the water was touching my ankles. The best: I would like to make a special commendation on the "Cafe in the Park" restaurant within the hotel, especially on our server, Jessy, who was our server for both lunch on Friday afternoon and breakfast on Saturday morning. He was the most professional and courteous server that I have ever come across and he made you feel as if you were dining in a very fine establishment. Jessy strikes a fine balance of being attentive but also not being too obtrusive. He made the whole dining experience an absolute pleasure and was the highlight of our family's first stay in Moody Gardens.

The hotel room was beautiful, but. I had reserved a room with the pyramid views. I didn't get it. They closed the outside pool in the morning for maintenance (although no maintenance was being done at the time. ) They directed us to a very cold inside lap pool but we couldn't get in because their card reader was broken. Of course they insisted it was my key (they wouldn't let me in they sent me to the front desk) So after two trips to get my room key re-programmed they let me in after a 45 minute ordeal. My four year old LOVES to swim more than anything. So her swim was cut very short due to their unhelpfulness. The night before we bought super ridiculously expensive tickets to the Rainforest exhibit and the Christmas light trail. We got to the Rainforest at 6:15 to be completely in the dark. You ever been in an exhibit in the dark? You can see nothing! We saw two monkeys sleeping. One beside a trashcan and one in a tree. We also saw 2 sleeping birds. There were wall displays but they turned out the lights so who knows what was in there! We complained but to no avail. The person checking us in was pleasant but the morning person the next day kept insisting my key was the problem at the pool was rude. She and her coworker snickered about me when they thought I was out of hearing distance. It was pretty much just an over priced tourist trap. I will never go there again. I've had better experiences at 2 star hotels.

Addition to my review regarding the person who gave a bad review mentioning the pool requiring a wrist band. Moody has never required a wrist band at the Hotel pool. I am not sure where that review came from. I stay there several times a year. Just use your door card to enter the gate to the Hotel pool. Also they are too lenient, many people from the Schlitter? water park use the pool and are never questioned. Also the Moody water park is totally free for hotel guests. I stick by my original post, Moody is a top hotel destination and it has been totally renovated this year 2014, a great place to vacation, the hotel is top class, pool and hot tub and. Swim up bar. The gardens has entertainment for all ages.

According to my friend, T-Roy Broussard, you guys suck! He says "I have to share this with everyone, I took my wife and daughter to Galveston, Tx this evening. Got an overpriced hotel room at moody gardens at the last minute but figured it was worth it to see my lil girl happy. We were at the pool for over 2 hours having a great time. I asked one of the employees where the towels were because my daughter was cold and ready to get out. She then accused us of trespassing because we didn't have a wrist band on. I assured her we weren't trespassing because I paid a nice sum for a room hours before. Next thing I know, some guy is in my face talking smack right in front of my wife and daughter. Needless to say, he's lucky my wife and daughter were there or I would have shown him some talents I have accrued over my years on this planet. I was embarrassed at the fact my family was harassed and the fact this guy almost provoked me into doing something I would have been sorry for. When it was all said and done,,, the manager apologized and said that he was sorry that this happened to us and he knew who I was. I told him that it shouldn't matter who I am, I am a customer, just like everyone else. Everyone deserves to be treated the same regardless of status. I never consider myself above anyone. In my eyes we are all equal in the eyes of The Lord and I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with,,,, is people who treat others with disrespect.

Bathrooms were nasty, had mold, and barely worked. Paint was peeling off the ceiling in our room. Paid for a balcony room, got one overlooking the dumpsters. Spa was "booked" but every time I walked by there were 4+ employees just standing around talking in the waiting room. Only one of our key cards worked at any given time, even after getting new ones. Food and staff were just ok. They told us the place was being remodeled when we asked about these things, but didn't offer us any other options or discounts for the pre-remodel experience. Kids will never notice, but we did when they billed us almost $300 for a one night stay. As another review said — a five star price for a one or two star hotel. For the money I expected more, and have experienced far better for less even at convention center hotels like this one. Spend your money at another hotel and buy tickets to the attractions separately.
